Random Jimmy Z Tweets

Recommended Posts

So I'm not sure this warrants a post, but here it is anyway for cataloging purposes.

Treyarch and Jimmy have tweeted a few cryptic things.

So likely nothing.  Reponses are hopeful it's some sort of DLC or 2015 zombies tease.

Stand back Naitrax

'Cus I'm about to go off on Treyarch

For not having heart

When they keep tweeting and misleading

I can't stand when they fool the fans

Just because they can and don't even give a damn

(This probably has nothing to do with Moon. Treyarch/Zielinski LOOOOOOOOOOOOVES trolling us with vague tweets.)

"Treyarch Goes to Space

Treyarch is fortunate to count its team of engineers as a world-class group – and they need to be. After all, they’re the ones figuring out how to deliver an online experience to millions of Call of Duty fans. It turns out that they also possess the technical know-how to put a monkey into space – or at least in this case, a weather balloon.

We caught up with Johan Kohler (Principle Software Engineer) to talk about a side-project, involving fellow Treyarch colleagues Stephen Crowe (Senior Software Engineer) and Martin Donlon (Director of Technology).

KOHLER:
Sometime during the development of Call of Duty: World at War, I was sharing an office with Martin and we saw this guy’s first flight:http://www.natrium42.com/halo/flight2/. Keep in mind, this was pretty original at the time – no one was really doing this kind of stuff. It didn’t take too long before we started thinking, wouldn’t it be cool to have a picture of the bent horizon with black sky? Martin and another colleague of ours did the research and helped get our first launch off the ground – the picture below was the result of our second and most recent launch. It’s been a lot of fun.

Of course, after doing something like this, we’ve been tinkering with the idea of taking it to a new level. We could get some 6 1080p cameras (http://www.hackhd.com/) and have one in each direction so that we can assemble the final shots into a 360 surround movie of the whole flight. Or we could rig an RC chopper with a APRS transceiver to fly over the area the balloon landed so we get an exact location. We could even engineer a small glider plane that’s dropped from the balloon high up and navigates back to the launch position automatically – UAV sort of thing.

Who knows where this could take us? For now, we’re having fun with it.

"Since Treyarch went to space on Friday, we thought it was only appropriate to pay homage to two anniversaries that occurred over the weekend...

Saturday, April 12th marked the date in 1961 when Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space. Additionally, April 12, 1981 marked the first space shuttle mission, featuring Columbia (STS-1), which returned to earth on April 14th.

So, why all the love for space? Mostly, because getting to space requires the coordination of many of the same disciplines that we utilize at the studio to develop games: engineering, computer science, robotics, mathematics, etc. On a more philosophical level, we have the opportunity to make interactive/online experiences for consoles that possess more computing power than what the entirety of NASA had when putting the first men on the moon."

Seems pretty cool to us.

And the Jimmy Moon Tweet was regarding the "Blood Moon" which is a Lunar Eclipse which happened on Tuesday (In Australia)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_eclipse

"A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra (shadow). This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned (in "syzygy") exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, a lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon. The type and length of an eclipse depend upon the Moon's location relative to its orbital nodes.

Unlike a solar eclipse, which can only be viewed from a certain relatively small area of the world, a lunar eclipse may be viewed from anywhere on the night side of the Earth. A lunar eclipse lasts for a few hours, whereas a total solar eclipse lasts for only a few minutes at any given place, due to the smaller size of the moon's shadow. Also unlike solar eclipses, lunar eclipses are safe to view without any eye protection or special precautions, as they are dimmer than the full moon."

I doubt there will be a Dlc 5 for black ops 2. I heard after origins they got rid of alot of people in the zombies team so there really aren't that many people left. If I was a game designer I would apply for a job there now that they have openings.

This is true; Carbon (codz founder) was released after the end of the season. I would assume they would have kept them on to work on any additional projects related to the game. If they are hiring now I would assume it would be for another Treyarch title unrelated to call of duty.

IIRC Carbon was a QA Tester. I'm not familiar with that line of work, but I'm sure they just have contracts of some sort to only work on that game, and when the assignment is up, they're just released on good terms.  So yeah, QA testers were released, but I think the employees being laid off is just a rumour.

New tweet from Jimmy shows a boarded up house in the snow that has a sign on a fence with Green Acres Fencing, which is located in Colmar, Pennsylvania just north of Philly. (determined by a Twitter user).

Who slept here? http://pic.twitter.com/w07Bf3zoH3

Actually, that sign is for Green Acres local assistant program, which dedicates the land to permanent recreation and open space

I actually live in New Jersey and when I saw the sign I thought it looked familiar!  He had been tweeting "Guess where I am" sort of pictures so this may go along the lines of that, but I'm not too sure.
