  1. I just take them as they come. I don't go out of my way to get them. A couple things with the carpenter one though. It's pretty useful on Die rise when you're holding down the roof with 4 people. Mainly for the window to the left of the stairs that come up to the roof. I usually sit back there and the iron board help control the area. -You have to be the one to grab the carpenter and kill the zombie -When the perk drops, don't grab it right way, look around for a zombie behind a window.. throw a couple boards up to keep him in there if need be, grab the perk then kill the zombie. -rinse and repeat I've had games where I've gotten this perk upgrade almost every time a carpenter dropped. Just taking my time to locate a zombie before grabbing it. Since I generally hold down by that window it tends to come easier. Obviously a lot harder in higher levels when everything's so hectic but it can be done.
  2. Totally legit thread but I can't help feeling a little disappointed not being able to be on the leading edge of secret finding just because I choose ps3 over Microsoft. *shakes fist at Treyarch
  3. You say 'main areas' but the cornfield isnt as such a 'main' area. Well atleast not like - Depot, Diner, Lab or power room, Town. Has anyone had the avogadro spawn elsewhere except these locations? I hope we get to the bottom of this church soon! Right but it becomes a main area as that's where the EE is at. He spawns there for sure. I've been standing at the church when I killed the last zombie at the end of a round with the lightening overhead and he just spawned in the town. I imagine if you were around the back of the church he would spawn in town still or at the diner and then make his way toward you. I've always hoped there was more but I've literally played a thousand games on this map and haven't found anything new for months now. I'm hoping some changes come with further DLC's and the navcard and what not. Good luck though, would be neat to still find something no one else has on this map!
  4. lol, where did we get on the "machines ancestory?" I've had this glitch on Tranzit with the PAP machine. Built it, then it wouldn't let me put a gun into it. I had to die completely to fix it.
  5. The only perk I call something different is PHD flopper and I've always called it Flops, or Dr. Flopper. Same with the perk drops. However we do tend to yell out "Facepunch" whenever we're knuckling zombies.. someone started doing it when blops2 came out and it just stuck. Oh and the Sliquifier is called "the goo gun"
  6. This is your answer. The reason QR doors are shut is because the power has to be turned on in 2p+ for the elevator to be active. As far as connection, this game is notorious for connection errors. It could have just been a glitched connection and would work the next time you try it. If I'm waiting for buddys to get out of a game I always start a custom game and start getting stuff done so when they join they can just start killing zombies. Build the tramp and then head to the big elevator. Once you're down then the other player can join and you can turn the power on and you guys are good to go.
  7. I think he'll only spawn in the main areas like Depot, cornfield, town etc.. anythings worth a try at this point. In other words he would likely spawn in the town instead of at the church.
  8. lol. I know it sounds silly but it's true. If you ever go back and play Shang you'll notice it. I noticed it because I always chased down the monkeys to change the perks for the team so I always saw them spawn. If you're in the first room you'll notice they don't always come from the temple. They spawn behind the players and run towards the perk drop.
  9. lol Let Tricky Vik rest in peace. Fair enough but that guys still not black lol
  10. The guy on the right is NOT a black man lol I like the Reznov theory.
  11. I could be wrong but that doesn't look like Russ. The lips, the wrinkles around the eyes, the nose specifically. IMO that's not Russman
  12. I'm not going to vote because I'm a ps3 user and can't give MOTD a chance yet. It's the first map in a long time that brings back that old dark creepy holy shit where did that zombie come from feel. It will likely be my favorite. If I had to vote from everything else I would likely go with Ascension for a lot of the same reasons KillAllMonkeys stated above and that it just felt so epic when we were playing it night after night back in the day. Next in line for me would be Shangri la because once I discovered strategies for running the monkeys in a way that provided the team with whatever perk they needed at the time it just became a whole different game. I loved the strategy involved. I like every single zombie map for many different reasons though, it's hard to pick a favorite. I will say this though (could get lynched here, watch out for flying objects) I would love to have a vintage map pack with all the old maps with black ops 2's newer game mechanics. I went back and played some black ops 1 awhile back and it just didn't feel as good. I remember when black ops 2 came out it took me a bit to get used to the change in feel.. like they changed the field of view or something among a few other things but now I'm used to it and going back sucks. I'd honestly be willing to pay for all those maps for a 3rd time (all in 1 bundle for $15)just to be able to play them again once in awhile with the new feel. So I'm with KAM's. Ascension!
  13. LMAO.. that's the spirit! Great thread and looking forward to your guide!
  14. The first thing that popped into my mind when I read the OP is the glitch when playing on Tranzit when the host leaves and the game migrates all of the green street lamps are off but still work as intended.
  15. These are all great ideas. My only concern is with some of the static scare type things the surprise factor is only there once or twice then it's gone because you know whats coming. (like the first time I opened the door on moon and the big saw thing came rumbling through lol, scared the shit out of me for a second but after that I knew it was there so it lost its thrill) I like the couple corner spawners idea cuz it could be completely random, the trigger has to be random or it falls into the above pit fall. A dark stormy map with lightening illuminating the place is a fantastic idea. I'm on ps3 but I was thinking MOTD looked like 3arcs attempt at making a creepy map again. Is it not as creepy as the preview makes out to be? I think it's extremely hard to make a map that keeps it's creepiness. (for lack of a better word) Due to the repetitive nature of the game. I do however think that the exploration concept could be transferred into a multiplayer type scenario. I really like earning points to open doors and buy items and guns. MW3 touched on this a bit with survival but I was disappointed when the adventure part of it was left out. I think strategy wise they could build maps around teams earning points and being able to open things quicker than others to gain the advantage, or cutting off pathways to perks. What led me to think this up is the fact that my wife loves to play COD with me but refuses to play zombies cuz it creeps her out. I always thought it would be fun to have the zombie adventure aspect in a real world type game setting. Anyway, back to zombies. As said all the above ideas are great, I'd just like to see ways of keeping it fresh and different every game without losing the core mechanics. I think they've actually done a pretty good job at brainstorming and building different aspects into the game but I fully agree that the creepy scary part of zombies hasn't been there for a long time. I think this could also be the nature of the beast here as far as we have gone from everyone being zombie noobs cuz we didn't know what to expect, to a lot of us being zombie pro's and know the basic mechanics like the backs of our hands. No matter what map they come out with if you're good enough to get to 50+ consistently then there isn't anything they could come up with that would surprise us so bad that it would prevent us from still tearin ass up the levels. The other issue, actually 2 in 1 quickly is Youtube. And the fact xbox gets everything a month earlier. Youtube because no matter how good, how creepy, how complex a map is, anyone can just go on youtube and learn everything they want to know. (I personally don't do this as I love the exploration factor but this leads me to my next point) I have ps3. I prefer it for many reasons and will not be buying an Xbox. The fact that xbox gets everything first frustrates me because I like to come on here and read peoples posts, I like to talk shop with other zombie buddies and what not but if they have a month on me then I inevitably read/watch spoilers long before I even get to play the map. Anyway.. Undead, you're right on here buddy. Good post and convo inspired. I'll be revisiting this thread for sure. Take care!
  16. I think it was later than the 1800's. It was after they closed Alcatraz as a prison. The Natives basically reclaimed the land and lived there refusing to leave. I think they were eventually pushed out by the government. I'll have a read on it later and see if I can find something significant. If the same sound in the first video is heard elsewhere without the chimes then I'd lean toward the chimes translating into a message of some sort.
  17. The chimes in your first video could very well be some sort of code. There are people on these forums that could likely decipher it in a snap if it is. The sounds in your second video are Native Americans chanting. There is a thread kicking around here somewhere that tells the story of Alcatraz. There was a few years after Alcatraz became abandoned where the Natives moved in and tried to reclaim the land as theirs. This is what ties the Tomahawk in. The ghostly spirits that now haunt Alcatraz are likely a mix of old prisoners and as demonstrated in your video Native Americans. I'm sure somebody much more knowledgeable than me could explain in further detail.
  18. You'd have to dig back in the threads a ways from Black Ops 1. There was a guy who translated the code and laid out exactly how zombie damage/health, perk drop formulas, and a few other very interesting logistics worked. One of the old school guys around here could probably point you in the right direction. That being said I do believe he proved that there was no trigger for limiting max ammos other than the calculation of percentages from one perk vs another being dropped as the rounds went up. The only limit to max ammos I've actually seen is in Shangri la but that wasn't due to limited max ammos (keeping in mind max ammo's become mathmatically less frequent as you reach higher rounds)rather than limited monkeys to carry the perks to turn into max ammos.
  19. I love this thread. The theories, the excitement of discovery and the new advancements in story line. This is what it's all about. I'm not a big researcher but I had the thought of google searching Nikolai and prohibition era politicians. Although not a politician from that era I did get a hit on this link which talks about a writer named Nikolai Gogol. A few key words I picked up through a quick scan was "purgatory" and "the devil." Now I'm obviously way out of my league here and this could be bullshit but maybe one of his novels like "dead souls" holds some clues to help you guys out? I'm not much of a theorist myself but I'm excited to watch you guys going through the motions of discovery and can't wait to see the final product eventually. p.s. oh did I mention he was buried alive? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikolai_Gogol Good luck!
  20. What if it's not Richtofen who says that quote in Die Rise... but someone who is present in both maps.
  21. Starting to make me really think that these perks will become usable once all the DLC's are out and tied together.
