  1. I discovered something interesting about Weasel and the whole comic book thing a while back. I posted about it but didn't get much response... but I think it's worth bringing up again; Remember when the early promotional material for MotD started coming out and the characters names were first given? Weasel's first name was originally said to be "Arthur". But his name was then said to be "Albert Arlington", which makes a lot more sense for someone called "Al". Still, the quick rename seemed really odd. Now, as many people have said before, when put together Al's drawing of his character "Icarus" bears a close resemblance to real-life 1940's comic book hero Shock Gibson. What most people never realized was that two of the main artists that worked on Shock Gibson were Al Avison and Arthur Cazeneuve. Al and Arthur... the two names that have been given for Weasel. Coincidence? Perhaps, but I don't think so. Especially considering one of the villains that Shock Gibson fought was a Nazi scientist named "Baron Von Kampf", who developed advanced weaponry like a Ray Gun and at one time tried using an army of zombies to take over the world. What does it all mean? I don't know. Perhaps Al, Arthur, and the Shock Gibson stories were an inspiration to Treyarch. Maybe it means absolutely nothing story-wise... but the fact that they used both Arthur and Albert for Weasel's name at different times makes me think this is some kind of Easter egg we were meant to discover.
  2. Its the Exact same steps except with 2 people The only advice I could give for 2 players is you have to make sure you make the most of your Afterlife since you only get 2 per round (as opposed to the four you would get with as many people). I like to leave a zombie every round for the first few rounds or so just to make sure we're making progress and not wasting our afterlifes by not using them.
  3. Yeah, only once and it was two Max Ammos; bPniPVuxv04 I've heard it has happened for people in other maps, even back in Black Ops... but I've also heard a lot of people saying it has happened in this map, which makes me think it is more common in MotD. It would make sense if the likelihood of drops was increased in this map in some way.
  4. This I will agree with. Die Rise was in improvement over TranZit (maybe not a massive one, but definitely an improvement) and Mob was much better than both combined. The problem with liking Mob so much is.... supposedly it was made by the campaign team. Which is all fine and good, but the next map will be made by our usual Zombies team... which makes me fear we'll be taking a big step backward in quality. Really hoping they prove me wrong, but personally the work of the Zombies team hasn't been impressing me much at all in this game. I'm not sure if I will be buying the next DLC or not. The drastically different look of Mob convinced me to get it day 1, but if the next map appears to have any kind of waiting around/transportation gimmick I'll probably pass.
  5. It revolves primarily around a specific equation that ultimately leads to points. Many players have experienced receiving power drops very early in the rounds if you maximize your points. There are, however, internal points that are only visible within the game's system. Some have called them "team points" for lack of a better name. A player can earn drops based off the team points or individual player points. The whole "save that drop for later" only holds true in the higher rounds, because just about every drop involves you obtaining more points in some way (i.e. nukes giving 400 points, carpenter giving 200 [i may be wrong with that number]). There is indeed a trigger for this that can make multiple drops happen in one instance, but it's undetermined as to what that trigger might be. I just prevent grabbing unnecessary drops that won't really help me too much, like a second Max Ammo after just receiving one/filling up or grabbing a carpenter while I'm not even remotely close to a barricade. Interesting... I knew it was something like that, but yeah... that makes sense. And I recently had 2 drops from 1 zombie in an early round, which I had never seen before. Thanks for the info though, I find the math and mechanics in the game very interesting. I did notice the last game I played a few nights ago we had a TON of drops in the first 6 or 7 rounds... now after reading your post I kinda want to go back and look at what kind of points we were getting in that game.
  6. I'm honestly surprised at how much I find myself disagreeing with OP's points since I usually feel like the grumpy old man around here for being so let down by most of Black Ops II Zombies so far... after reading this particular thread it seems I lie somewhere in the middle. I'm all for change. I'm all for earning things. I think even TranZit and Die Rise (both of which I have come to despise and will probably never play again) had some really solid concepts and a lot of potential... that was ultimately wasted due to questionable design choices. I will agree that the answer is to find a balance in things, but I personally feel like MotD finally found that balance... or at least was a HUGE step in the right direction. I don't see how we're being forced to do any questing for things. Yes, we have to build the plane to get to the PaP... but we also had to activate the teleporters to get to it in Der Riese, launch the landers and rockets in Ascension, set the defcon in Five, etc. The only difference is that we can't just run back to it whenever we want... and if that is your complaint then I do agree with you. IMO once you've built the plane you should be able to go back whenever you want, but picking up the gas cans is a minor annoyance that takes a minute or two so I don't find it map-breaking. As far as perks, I don't find powering them in afterlife an annoyance at all... it takes about two seconds, and once you have gone to the bridge once they are all powered anyways. At least you're doing SOMETHING.... unlike TranZit where you're spending five minutes waiting for the bus or running around in the fog, or Die Rise where you're standing around tapping your foot waiting for some slow as hell elevator. Waiting- making zombies exciting since 2012! Also, the boss.... is pretty easy to deal with. I hated every boss in BO, but this one goes down quick and I've never personally had a problem with him locking perks down (quite to contrary, the only problem I've had is him NOT locking things down for the achievement). Hell, get to know his spawns and a couple claymore make him a complete non-issue.... just a free drop. I feel like they finally made a boss that is well-balanced. I also find it depressing that people are still using the old tired "you must suck at this map if you don't like it!" argument, but I guess I shouldn't expect any less. BTW, I absolutely hate TranZit and had no problem hitting round 40+ multiple times without ever having to build the pre-patch Jet Gun.... but since I don't enjoy it I obviously am horrible at it? I had a lot more points to make, but I'm seriously lacking sleep so I'll just say this; I'm sure there are people on here that are total fanboys that will love anything Treyarch does, and I'm sure there are people who hate change and will hate anything new they try.... but they're the minority and there's no reason to start the name calling because someone disagrees with you. Criticizing a map is not "blasphemy", and there's nothing at all wrong with voicing your concerns here. This is a very active forum in the Zombies community and I'm sure the team monitors it to some extent... if we don't make our voices heard when we dislike something then they will never know what we want. I dunno... I need a 12 hour nap.
  7. Unless I'm misunderstanding you (quite possible) I don't think this is the case because Jimmy Z said it is possible to rank up twice in one day (yes, he actually gave a straight answer to a question one time.... pretty sure an ice cube formed in hell that day). If you needed to work for 5 days to rank up then that would be impossible.
  8. Anyway, I like to call Juggernog Jugg, Speed Cola Speed, basically the shortened version of each perk's name. Pretty much what I do also. Don't really have any fancy nicknames for any perks... though I do have a couple friends who call Juggernog "Jugger-panties" after so much time playing old-school CoD multiplayer games that had Jugg (as in "Oh great, this n00b has his Jugger-panties on..."). I'm kinda surprised nobody has jumped into the thread freaking out about people not calling everything by their "proper" names. God knows half the community gets their panties all bunched up if someone refers to Green Run as TranZit, or commits the cardinal sin of calling the bus driver T.E.D.D. Oh, and I almost forgot "HIS NAME IS NOT AVOGADRO FGDSFGDSFDHGS!!!!! "
  9. I think there may actually be something to this... but not necessarily in the exact way that it is stated. What I mean is, it seems that your probability of getting a drop is determined by how many zombies you have killed and how many drops you have had over time, with a lower probability each round as they progress. I haven't looked at game code or anything, just speaking from experience. A good way to test/prove it is to play moon, go to NML, and kill a hundred or so zombies. Unless it is a higher round, you're practically guaranteed to get a drop from the first zombie you kill when you come back (since you killed so many without a drop because you get none in NML). I've had similar experiences in MotD. Now, that doesn't mean that leaving a Max Ammo on round 5 will make you more likely to get one on 20, but if I'm on 20 and a Fire Sale I don't need drops, I will leave it in hopes of increasing my odds of getting something else. And it seems to work, honestly.
  10. Interesting... I have no idea what may be holding me back, then. I've pretty much given up on it at this point, though. The way I see it, since Treyarch refuses to tell us exactly how these "ranks" work, they're pretty much pointless. I regularly run relatively high rounds (30's to 40's, but I have gotten higher), revive constantly, have good accuracy, open doors... yet I can't rank up. And Zielinski says things like "what's your highest round, how many? most downs? How long have you played, are you a good person? Do you spend, revive, help?" Good person? So what, I need to go volunteer at a soup **** please report this topic, post **** to rank up? Zielinski's twitter is full of him dropping cryptic hints about how rank works... why not just come right out and tell us what the prerequisites are or what the formula is? I swear, I used to think that guy was awesome, but I'm at the point where I can't stand him anymore. He can never just give a straight answer about anything.
  11. Yeah, I'm also on the kinfe and will probably never get shotguns. My belief (of course it's impossible to be sure because Treyarch insists on being so cryptic about rank) is that I can't get the shotguns because I did a couple really high round runs on Die Rise using only the Sliquifier.... which put my headshot percentage into the toilet. My K/D is ridiculously high, tons of revives, doors opened, etc... but my headshots are only at 13%.
  12. I'm almost positive both revives and headshots matter. By the way, there is (or at least was) a glitch you could do to reset your stats on the servers... thought it may also reset your EE progress, TranZit bank account, etc. I've never tried it but if you're still interested you can find tutorials on the YouTubes.
  13. as much as i like this idea. i doubt zombies will ever get its own game.. doesnt make alot of sence because COD is #1 a online multiplayer shooter. and i dont think they will move away from what is bringing in the money. i need to look it up again, but i think it was only 14-18 percent of the online communities bought Rezzurection, which if you looking at a zombies only game, would be a massive fail seeing that you are only pulling in a 14-18 percent of your fanbase. and there is the other 82-86 percent of untapped money. thats just how i see this. not trying to shoot you down at all, i really want a zombies exclusive game myself. I don't disagree, but keep in mind that you're talking 18% of the people who purchased what was (as of March 2011) the biggest selling game in history. That's still a pretty damn big fanbase. For a bit of perspective, Black Ops sold 5.6 million copies... 18% of that is still over a million. Now, that 18% might only be of those people that bought that game and are online which may skew slightly, but then again you have to consider the people that aren't online that would buy a retail Zombies game. Taking that all into account, we could predict that a Zombies game might sell around a million copies.... which is pretty damn good, actually. I guess the real question is whether it would be more profitable to spend the money to develop a full, separate zombies title (potentially losing people who buy CoD for Zombies, who would not buy the next CoD and get the Zombies game instead) or keep it as a side-mode in CoD, saving development costs and still drawing people into purchasing the main game. Also, I don't know if Zombies could really justify a full retail title as-is. It's a very aracde-y game and unless they changed the round-based gameplay I just couldn't see it working as a retail disc. It would work incredibly well as an Xbox Arcade/PSN title.... but if you're going to do that you might as well keep it as part of CoD and get the money for selling the full game.
  14. I've said it before and I'll say it again... Zombies has become too big to end. We can pretty much assume Zombies will be in the next Treyarch title in some form. Now, that doesn't mean Black Ops 3 (or whatever it will be called) will continue the current story... there could be an entirely new storyline or a Mob of the Dead style spinoff that is loosely related to the original story. If the next Treyarch CoD doesn't have Zombies, I won't be buying it... and I know I'm not the only one. They pretty much sold the Hardened Edition for the last two Treyarch CoD games on a Zombies gimmick... that should tell you how much faith they have in the game mode moving copies. They won't alienate those potential customers.
  15. Yeah, there was a tweet by Treyarch a month or 2 ago that said there would be at least 4 dlc map packs. Hmm... at least.... Really? Well that just about confirms it for me. I think/hope that they will try to do something for the Season Pass Zombies fans and especially us Hardened Edition purchasers to make up for releasing the "Exclusive" Nuketown map to everyone. Judging by what happened in the past, I could definitely see them releasing an extra all-zombies map pack that will be regular price for everyone, but a free bonus to Hardened Edition owners and Season Pass holders (obviously). It kind of all makes perfect sense in my eyes... we have references in the game code to older maps, we have another team having made one of the DLC maps, we have DLC 2 coming out much earlier than expected (almost a month ahead of the Black Ops DLC release schedule), and now that tweet. So they kick out DLC 2, 3, and 4 each a bit earlier than previous DLC packs, and then they have the time to get the extra one out before Ghosts is released. I've even thought about the names/acronym pattern of the DLCs... DLC 3 could be "Liberation", and 4 could be something like "Evolution". At this point we would have FEAR and RULE... which seems complete. But then they kick out one more called "ReZtoration" (restoring old maps and including a new one) and completed we have FEAR RULER. Haha I dunno, just a thought. Regardless, I'll be surprised (and kinda disappointed) if we don't get a surprise 5th map pack.
  16. And all this time I thought TranZit was Zombies in poop. Sure looked and played like it. I kid, I kid... (not really, I'm pretty serious) ... But what if they had another team make Mob so they could do DLC 3,4, AND 5? I'm still holding to my theory that we're going to get a fifth all Zombies DLC as a bonus. They can't do 4 as all zombies because people that bought the season pass for multiplayer maps would be peeved... but if there was a fifth one that was all zombies and season pass holders just got it as a bonus? Yeah...
  17. Nice. I was never a big BC Rich fan, but I played that bass and fell in love with it. Really versatile sound, active pickups, great feel. Running it through a 700 watt Peavy head and it will shake the ground at half gain. Never had it up to 3/4 even.
  18. Favorite is Ascension... though I think Mob of the Dead may replace it. It's still too early to call it my "favorite" though. Sometimes it can take a while of playing a map to start to notice the warts and the annoying things. For instance, when I first got Die Rise I thought it was amazing... but a month later I couldn't even play it. I would start a game, find myself waiting for an elevator, and say "Nope, screw this boring map" and quit. Ascension just did everything right. They incorporated new things that were fun instead of annoying. Moon was good, but the lack of sound outside (and frequent sound glitching... like when you're in the dome with no helmet but the sound of being outside persists), the astronaut zombie, tons of perks but no way of getting perk bottles... too many of the annoyances Treyarch seems to love putting into Zombies made it less enjoyable for me. Least favorite is probably a tie between Shangri-La and Green Run/Tranzit. Shangri-La was just an overall annoying map with none of the creepiness of Zombies (a bright, colorful jungle? Ohh spooky!), and TranZit just blows. Like someone else said... we were all expecting this big free-roam Zombies campaign, but we got a bunch of pointless empty space, ugly areas, hlaf the Black Ops perks suddenly gone, and no upgradeable wonderweapon in the box. Biggest disappointment in Zombies yet, IMO.
  19. This. I'm almost positive that I read a couple years back that Activision has decided to take a stance against releasing mod tools since the World at War days. It's a shame, but like many other publishers, I believe they decided that they didn't want to promote people creating content that they can't make money off of. I'm sure Treyarch would be more than happy to release the mod tools if they could (those of us old-school Zombies players can remember the mod tools for World at War came out very quickly after the game was released. Before the first DLC if I'm not mistaken... they obviously support modders) but if Activision doesn't want them to do it then it isn't going to happen. It would be awesome if things changed and the mod tools were released, but I don't think it will ever happen. We should just be thankful that the community has been SO amazing at creating content for World at War Zombies, and incorporating so many elements that came in Black Ops I and II.
  20. CHINA LAKE!!! Hahah no, not really. I miss; -PPSh (or "The Pointwhore" as my friends and I lovingly called it) -Gersches -The sickle! I know it's really basically just a re-skin of the bowie knife, but I still loved it. -Wunderwaffe of course -And of course the Thundergun. Who cares if it was "overpowered"... pretty much every map has something that could be considered overpowered.
  21. Hoping I'm posting this in the right forum... So I don't think I've mentioned it here (it's normally not very relevant), but I play and sing in this rock band called Megaton Hammer. We've been playing for like 6 years now, and I write all the lyrics, most of the music, etc. Shortly after Mob of the Dead released, I was driving to a show we were playing on 4/20. With Zombies on my mind after playing Mob nonstop for a few days I was going over our songs in my head and made a funny realization. We have a song called "Rebirth" that's about an infinite loop and has lyrical references to the Moon, flight, a sleep that's not eternal... things that could easily be associated with the Zombies storyline. So I rewrote some of the words on the spot and preformed an alternate version of the song that night that I spontaneously dubbed "Rebirth 115". Someone was there recording that night, and I thought maybe a couple people here would find it interesting... nobody in my band knew what the hell I was singing about, anyways. Actually, probably nobody at the show at all. TzGQVaQELfI Unfortunately the sound was pretty awful at the bar and the vocals are difficult to hear. I'll post the lyrics below. So.. yeah. Dunno if anyone will care, but I figured I would share it with some people that might actually get the references.
  22. Funny... kind of fits with my theory that the Zombies story will turn out to be cyclical (that the origin of the 115 meteors is that they are actually meteors from Black Ops II Earth that will get somehow sent back in time... I posted a more in-depth explanation in an Asylum thread). That the beginning of the story will also be the result of the end of the story. But yeah... like anything regarding the Zombies team it is very cryptic and could be interpreted in many ways.
  23. I've done a bit more thinking on this since I posted it. In the Die Rise intro there is that "other" voice that some thought was just Richtofen and others thought was an unknown character. Perhaps that voice is Lucifer, as some have theorized before. If so, why would Lucifer and Richtofen both want to mend the rift between Hell and Earth? Well, because the current state of affairs does not benefit either of them. The apocalypse happened and Hell has been unleashed on Earth, but Lucifer has no control over the zombies and presumably cannot claim the souls of all the people that were killed because Richtofen is in the NPD. Richtofen, on the other hand, has control over the zombies and basically the world... but the world is broken and destroyed so he basically rules nothing. Perhaps there is some kind of power struggle between the two of them, but they can both agree that the way things are currently is no good to either party.
  24. Yeah, I've had the shield glitch quite a few times. On TranZit too. I've also had the opposite effect, where I would have a shield but not get the protection until I bring it out and put it away again. That was the first time I ever had Electric Cherry stop working, though.
  25. Yeah, I've had him spawn a lot. Recently, after playing a lot of solo I was playing a 2-player game and decided to spawn in the horde on round 1 like I always do solo... but we got Brutus instead. Never had him spawn during the first round on solo, but in co-op got him right off the bat and we both only had pistols. I ended up knifing him about 15 times before giving up and running to get the M-14.
