Extinction - What we know so far & How it ties into Ghosts
Undead replied to GRILL's topic in Extinction Mode
^ Not necessarily though, could simply be a nod to say "Dude, if you don't know what ODIN is, go play the freakin campaign already" or something. Either way, I'd like to capitalize on this some more since even though this may not be zombies, there's one thing this community does best that I came to love in the first place; theories and story. So, lets look at what we're given (bare in mind this is my interpretation so far, feel free to correct me): - "First Contact" (Chapter 1): Suggests this is where forces first go toe-to-toe with the *unearthed Alien race. - "ODIN" missle strike: Suggests the impact of the missiles triggered and woke up these "hives" of the Aliens. * It's specifically mentioned that these aliens were "unearthed", yet we're given what looks to be like some sort of meteor or remains of some kind of ship in space in the loading screen. Which brings me to my first question: How intelligent are they? - In combat, they approach you and fight pretty sloppy and wrecklessly. Much like a typical savage large land predator such as a Tiger or Lion. Are they communicating from space to each other? How would this be possible? Perhaps we will find out. Who came first? - In the trailer for Extinction, the woman narrating says "This is our home, and they are trespassing" Well, this brings us to "What came first? The chicken or the egg?" type of question. When you start talking about a race that was supposedly unearthed, how long have they been there? (here) It's one thing if they really did crash land here recently, but that one word (Unearthed) just screams at me otherwise. -
So far it's the main weight that tipped the scale for me to be on board for getting Ghosts when I did and I'm not disappointed. Everything feels well balanced and unique. Definitely see great potential here.

At this rate, these types of threads just might give Final Fantasy a run for its money.

Is Extinction the future of codz forum?

The irony, Rissole, the irony burns. -
I absolutely can't wait till I have kids. I mean... I CAN but the idea of them growing up and raising them and watching all the little simple things of them taking after their parents and enjoying the same things you do. Heh, and I guess speaking of which I even mentioned to my girlfriend that I imagine being that kind of dad in this day in age instead of being like "You played a hell of a basketball game, son. Good job! *pats back*" I'd be more like: "Honey, your son just got a 10 killstreak! I'm so proud. :,)"

Are we drifting away from "Classic" Zombies?
Undead replied to GameChanger's topic in General Zombies Discussion
I could say that a thousand times over and still it wouldn't be enough. That's the biggest thing that changed for me, especially this season. My idea of "classic" is when everything was more a mystery with scattered clues rather than this huge chaotic mess of interchangeable eras, storylines, and characters. -

I enjoyed it more when these "EE" were really "Easter Eggs" rather than an objective. This season they were basically thrusted upon us. -
The future of Call Of Duty Zombies?

OR or OR! Just make an arcade expansion thing that is it's own deal, with all the zombie maps to date. 20 bucks, all maps. Done. -

This is the first I've heard about this "Extinction" mode. Don't really care much for the IW games but I will say this: You can't really blame them for trying something down that road. It likely won't come close to what we come to enjoy as zombies, but I gotta say, a complete change of pace on a clean slate could be pretty refreshing. Something totally different and new from what we are used to. I just already see a lot of this "WTF were they thinking? This is nothing like zombies!" type posts and criticism happening if this really does come to past. Well... I hope it's really NOT. I want them to be as original as possible with the whole idea. -
This will end up annoying people!

ha. aha oh uh... a ha... And I thought my jokes were bad... My favorite is still the typo they made on the trailer for Origins when they messed up Nikolai's name. -
As I've mentioned around before, I think the story actually went a little too farfetched with some of these directions it's taken. Ultimately, if you look at the overall big picture, and the sequence of events, it's actually quite clear. But I think it was pushed a little too hard to be "new" and "exotic" in the sense of the actual gameplay and environments. I mean, this season especially every map could nearly pass off as it's own game, rather than just another map they were seemingly so different and original from each other. As if the idea of putting game play and story together clashed this season; "how do I put this story in with a map like this?" and vice versa.

Boredom. Perhaps it's just because the storyline took a 90 degree turn this season but after completing the EE's, I have little ambition to continue playing a map.

The future of Call Of Duty Zombies?
Undead replied to 115Danii's topic in General Zombies Discussion
At this point, it could go anywhere. There's probably endless possibilites with where they could take it. Frankly, I'm not happy with how it's all evolved though. I liked it back when it was mostly about experiments gone bad and mystery with a WWII era feel. Between Verruckt and Ascension is where I feel the entirety of the storyline and atmosphere of zombies was at it's prime. Then things just started getting all out of whack and random IMO. -
I don't even have origins yet lol. But I never really notice any differences with these patches. Unless it's a real obvious one.
-
I'm surprised it hasn't been an additional mode yet to be honest. They obviously have games like Grief and Turned. Why not some kind of straight up survival that's played just like NML?
-
The new camo that was voted on looks a lot like MoTD PaP weapons doesn't it? Never seen it in game but it looks awesome. Kinda, but our wish came true ulimately. ;)
-
lol really? Or it's just a simple pun for "Cream Soda"? :P

Congrats guys ;)

MMX and I actually talked about this while playing a game of Grief the other day and we basically agreed that there's not really a side to pick from, but because there's two options, it's stereotypical to automatically assume there's a right or wrong, good or bad ending, evil and good, etc. Whatever you wanna call it, that's usually the assumption, one is leading you down a good path, the other isnt. So, I basically said it's like picking the lesser of two evils, but even that is a loose way to put it, because I don't think either side could be justified to be completely good or evil. They've both done things that are questionable to their morals. I think each will obviously have their final result, but neither will have a certain kind of ending. If that makes sense.

I'm honestly convinced that regardless of which side your choose, Richtofen will more or less, become a playable character once again. Either come next map pack, or next season. And if that is so, then it's even more likely that the O4 will return in its purity again. Think about it; If you end on Richtofen's side, he gains control to some degree, even will maintaining his control in Aether by "puppeting" Samuel. It's like Samantha being in Richtofen's body, except with Richy and Samuel. Interesting how the name "Sam" just plays an important role period, lol. But if you end on Maxis' side, Maxis could easily swap Samantha for Richtofen, thus giving him his own body back after basically torturing him after completion in Buried. (Blue-Eyed Zombie) Who knows? I just want them back XD
-
Makes sense considering TranZit doesn't have those weapons, so you'd think they would just add them, or treat it like the whole "sniper in the cabinet" thing where that's the only possible way you'd get the gun in that map.
-
Really the only complaint I have is the fact that the Ghosts completely rob you if you in so much as even touch them. I feel like if they are going to take 2k in points, they should have to stun you and drain you for a second or two first, not just rub shoulders and POOF! But other than that, I'd say this even exceeds MOTD, and I hope it continues to do so with the next DLC. The best thing about it? There's plenty of ways to hold of zombies. One thing that just kills it for some maps is after like round 12, I find myself having to sprint around the whole map, or only have one useful section of the map I can use to actually survive.
-
You guys don't suppose introducing the whole floating ghost enemy could be a trial and error to possible repeat something similar to what they do and possibly bring it back with Samantha, do you?

Pressing the button on the box resets EE progress?
Undead replied to Charles871987's topic in Buried
Kinda makes me curious if depending on the side you've chosen and completely filled out, will effect how the next map is played, almost like, an alternate ending for the season. And the only way to switch it is, by resetting your progress
