  1. You just contradicted yourself. Typo perhaps? I think he meant, digging up a Mauser will not refill your Boomhilda ammo. You can however weild a Boomhilda and a Mauser. I have no clue why you'd want to. Or what would happen if you then pack-a-punched that Mauser...
  2. I know I've told a few people, but I've never posted it here. You can do the 2nd half of the Lightning Staff's challenge before you even get the staff. All of those grey knobs/dials spawn in the exact same position, and always need to end in the same position. So I took the time to write them down. With this information you can reduce the Lightning Challenge to playing the 3 chords on the keyboard by remembering to properly set the dials in an area when you first go there to grab a perk, or power a generator.

My biggest pet peeves (and there will be repeats with others on this thread I'm sure) are: 10: "sleepers", those people that inhabit lobbies in pairs and never ready up, or the occasional lone guy that never readies up, but gets forced in by the other three players, and never moves. If you have to go, turn off your xbox, or dashboard, or at least back out of the lobby, don't just sit there and keep getting sent into game after game. 9: "420 fans" I don't care if you smoke pot in your free time, or if you think it makes zombies better, I may not approve, but it isn't my right to tell you off like you probably deserve. No, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the late week night people you find who feel the need to talk about smoking pot, who keep asking if you smoke pot, who won't revive you because they were too busy freaking on something while high, or who take 15 minute breaks to go smoke. 8: "Ignorance" When you grow up taking accelerated educational programs and still falling asleep in school you learn that sometimes people don't absorb information as quickly as you do, however I'm talking about the guy that still believes that diving on top of someone in that corner of the spawn in Kino results in more drops. I get annoyed and frustrated with people who I have to explain something to multiple times in a row. I played with a random who was surprised 3 times in a row to hear that you can use the Sheild as a melee for getting the tacticals on Origins. That same random used the Maxis drone 5 times to grab the MG08 Discs around the map because he was insistant that there was a certain order they must be grabbed in, and wouldn't take the last one until we powered all the generators because he "knew" the power was supposed to be on. For funsies I'll let you know he got rid of the PaPed MG08 a little bit later because it was round 9 and he wanted a weapon for getting points. 7: "point planners" I dislike those people who will refuse to open doors and will instead point at you and tell you to open the door. If they have a mic, I can tell them why they're wrong. When they don't I let them down a few times whilst running my horde over them in spawn. One thing I haven't understood yet, is why everyone jumps on the person with the most points to buy the first door. That is the cheapest door. Make the guy in the lead to grab the 3rd or 4th door. I mean really. I'm not refusing to buy the 1st door because I'm selfish. I plan to grab the next door, or the door after that, when the price is significantly higher. 6: "self centered" I dislike people who seem to forget that they are playing with others, and who focus solely on themselves. It is the worst with Origins, because there are so many things that are many times easier with cooperation. For example, filling the chests with souls. I can't tell you how many times I was filling up a chest to see a random run by, and start massively killing endless numbers of zombies just outside the range of the chest I was at. Really? You were watching me a moment ago, you know what I'm doing. Come 5 feet this way and kill all you like! On other maps, it isn't as prevelant, but peoplle who use the teleporter in Kino without waiting for others, people whp activate traps without thinking about the 2 or 3 teammates following behind them, or just people that come to a dead stop in the middle of a narrow doorway to shoot at zombies, leaving their teammates stuck behind them desperately spraying at the zombies closing in. 5: "discriminators" I dislike people that leave when they are the only skull in a shotgun lobby. I dislike people that leave when they are the only shotgun in a skull lobby. I dislike people that leave when not every single player is chatting loudly on the mic. I dislike those that automatically mute the youngest player's mic, or just leave. come on people. Give different things a chance. If I have to say one positive thing about them, it's that I'm glad they left, because I doubt we would have gotten along if they had stayed. 4: "my way" I dislike people that come in and state "we're going this way. I'm getting the lightning staff. I'll take the MG08" While grabbing a shovel. I don't mind you having a plan or a preference. But ask first. Or if you're going to insist that you get a particular staff, don't ask for the MG08 as well. Don't take a shovel. Let other people get some of the awesome free stuff too, if you want to stand your ground on getting a specific staff. Be cooperative. Give and Take. Notice that "Give" is first... 3: "american Idol" Please. Don't constantly sing in the mic, or play loud music in the background, or do whatever your doing that is consistantly making that terrible noise. I've brought it up twice now, either stop it, mute your mic, or I'll do it for you. Don't be upset when I can't hear that you desperately want a crawler, or are telling me your exact location for a revive. A little melody here and there isn't awful, but when you're always screeching, and I can't hear myself think, and I've told you to quiet down, then it's awful. 2: "Kill stealers" Yes this was on my list. I don't really see kills out in the open past round 10 or so as anyone's owned zombies, but round 1, when the map has 4 enterances and 4 players, there is a reason for that. People that deicde to just tear through your horde are dicks, but they aren't as bad as those kill stealers from the first few rounds. I mean, it isn't exactly a good first impression. 1: "Glitchers" I will do everything in my power to ruin your glitch, and if I am really pissed, your xbox experience for the next 24 hours. I will not participate. I will not sit there an watch as the dogs just pile in front of you in Kino. No. I'll take those dogs, and lead them behind you. Then I'll report you. I'll get all the gamertags I have access to to report you in increments over the next 24 hours. However I do have to say I've had a few good randoms, and I'm not bothered by the micless randoms as much as some, unless of course they do something from the list above.   4. I have to agree here. Even though host migration and match searching was terrible in BO1, I much prefer the leaderboard set up and lobby leaderboard, as well as having the option for Private Matches. I mean honestly, our Custom matches aren't that "custom". All we get to choose from on the DLC maps is Easy or Original. I do however like the stat tracking leaderboards (kills, headshots, accuracy etc), and I do think a separate solo leaderboard from Co-Op is a good idea, but not a seperate 2, 3 and 4 player board.
  5. I think it's a general glitch with losing your tactical grenades, because I've had the EMPs disappear on me once or twice in TranZit while trying to do the Maxis side of Tower of Babel.
  6. People have been saying that the campaign team made both Mob of the Dead and Origins. Why? I haven't seen any evidence to that wild rumor. Besides. I'm pretty sure the interior of Treyarch isn't split into: Campaign, MP, and Zombies. It's far more likely that the map designers for campaign and zombies and even multiplayer are mixed, exchanged, and swapped around freely. The code writters, 3D artists, and maybe even some story writting are all communal. Just as well, pointing out all the similarities between this and MotD isn't significant. I could do the same with any two zombie maps. I mean ALL zombie maps from B02 have: 1 new perk to replace the previous new perk The four original perks, and an additional BO1 perk Mystery Box, Pack-a-Punch, wall weapons, perma perks, alternate enemy monsters, same N4 characters, same EE goal, and etc. I mean, I really don't think you can call Origins "Lazy" for having similar attributes to MotD.
  7. Jay has a very great point. Somedays, I find the randoms that are talking and trying to get others to talk, highly annoying. Other days I complain that no one is talking. Somedays I want a team of randoms that will go for high round goals. Other days, I'm annoyed because the randoms are playing like they want to reach high rounds ("High rounds with randoms? are you kidding me? They must be dumb! They see that I'm downing over and over. They should just suicide and end it, we've been here for 2.5 hours.") The only time I always disapprove is of quiters. But even then, sometimes, you just have to go. Things come up. Some people dont plan or expect for a game to last more than an hour or two. Only people you can definitely verify are rage quiters deserve the hate. But even then, respawning every round at round 20+ because you cant get enough points to buy jug before you down again isn't fun. Why would they stay?
  8. Just being overly optimistic here, but has anyone confirmed that it doesn't work? I'm sure it probably wouldn't, but then again I'd have never guessed that elemental staffs would alter your PhD Flop either.
  9. Like I said, it's just an adding thing. If I'm remembering the right symbols, they add up to 122 in Base 4, which is Line L-shape L-shape. Match up the symbols in the picture, facing in the direction of the pillar with the Line L-shape L-shape symbol engraved into it.

  12. Well, I don't know why it didn't work, although that symbol line, has to be lined up with a particular direction as well. Best way to do it, is to know exactly what you're doing. You are essentially adding to match a set value. Any given "line" of symbols, going from innermost to the outermost ring must add up to match the value of the symbol on the pillar in that same "line". What are the values? well it is a base 4 counting system. You count, but you can only use the numbers 0,1,2 and 3. The lone triangle is 0, a line is 1, an L shape is 2, and the remaining F-like shape is 3. you read left to right. so a line followed by a lone triangle is 1 0 so 10. now remember only 0, 1, 2, and 3 exist. so 10 isn't 9+1 as we know it. It's actually only 3+1. 1, 2, 3, then the next highest number you can make using only 0, 1, 2, and 3 is ... 10. so 10 in base 4 has an actual value of 4. hopefully you can figure out what I'm saying...
  13. Agreed. I believe to poor Samantha, real and imaginary aren't easily distinguishable anymore. I mean, when you're omnipotent and everything you want to make happen, happens, it's got to be tough separating what's real and what might still just be a thought. I hold that if the cutscene isn't a litteral loop to the beginning of the cycle, it still doesn't mean this was just a kid playing dolls the whole time. I mean, human existance is what a God playing with dolls would look like, wouldn't it? Real people, real places, real zombies, they all seem like dolls or play toys to a Child-God.
  14. I really don't know if it's fair to take Vahn's quote at face value, as if I remember correctly, he got cut off immediately after saying that. We have NO idea what followed that particular phrase. Context is everything. The commonly known quote from Robert Frost "Two roads diverged in a road, and I took the one less traveled and that has made all the difference" Is usually associated with doing the right thing, and/or the harder thing, having to work for a better outcome. This is completely wrong when you add in the rest of the poem. Look it up. The first stanza and second stanza detail many times that both the roads were exactly the same, and that he was sorry he couldn't do both. Neither road was the "better" one or even less traveled. In actuality the bit most commonly quoted is preceeded by: "I shall be telling this with a sigh, somewhere ages and ages hence:" Which basically says that this is what he thinks he will say decades from then as an old man. Then, ages and ages after he first walked one of those two exactly identical roads, and only then, will he say "I-- I took the road less traveled, and that has made all the difference" The moral isn't "do the right thing", it is "people want to look back, and believe they did the right thing, when in reality, things happen, and often they don't matter or make any difference." THIS demonstrates the importance of context. So if I'm wrong about Vahn being cut off immediately after uttering that controversial quote, then I'd like to be corrected, but if I'm right, then don't make any judgements off of a contextless quote.

  16. My guess was wrong! As it turns out, each pillar tells you what that line of symbols should add up to. The symbol that matches the line in the picture on the thread is: Line, L-shape, L-shape Which using base 4 means 122. After taking the long process of converting that to decimal (basically counting to 122 using only 0, 1, 2, and 3 and then keeping track of how many numbers you made along the way, in normal decimal base 10) you get 26 as the value. 1 So if you add up a line (1=1), a line followed by an L-shape (12=6), an L-shape followed by a wonky F-shape (23=11), and L-shape followed by a triangle (20=8) you get 1+6+11+8=26. I checked it out with a different side as well. one of the pillars has a wonky F-shape followed by a line on it (31 =13) which is 13 in decimal. I'm not going to talk you through all of that line as well, but trust me, after you convert the symbols into a base 4 number, then convert that to decimal, then add them all together, you get 13. There. Now I can sleep... although... The dials for the lightning staff upgrade has something I wish to research yet... I believe they always spawn in the same positions, and always need to be turned to the same positions. This would mean that you could "complete" the lightning challenge, before even building the lightning staff by having all the dials already turned to the position in which they would stop sparking. I'll give it a run later and update y'all on my results.
  17. It's kind of funny how I gave you all a lesson on base counting, and I just now realized why specific ice symbols (Lines and triangles) match with certain ternary symbols. The Ice and Wind challenge symbols (the lines and triangles) are in base 4. a lone triangle is 0 a triangle with a line is 1 an L shape is 2 and the remaining shape (I've always called it an inverted F) is 3 so Line followed by a lone triangle = 10 in base four, which is: 0, 1, 2, 3, 10 = 4 in decimal, which is = 0, 1, 2, 10, 11 in base 3 or ternary. (The initial zeros don't count, I just show them to remind you why base four doesnt have a 4) So line followed by a triangle, should be equal to two filled in dots. If I'm right, you'll see it confirmed above. I'm just mentioning this because I haven't seen anyone actually say WHAT those symbols mean. My guess for the wind puzzle? That each line of symbols add up along with the corresponding pillar to be the same value. Only a guess at this time though.

  19. I'm probably jumping to massive conclusions here, but this just screams to me: "Guys, the cut scene does not mean the last 16 maps were just a child's imagined game." However, JZ never operates in a direct manner, sooo, good luck CoDz.
  20. A key part of occam's razor is often forgotten about: A simplier theory, no matter how elegant, and/or efficient it is, should not be preferred over a more complicated and more correct theory. Sometimes the world is a mess, and we just have to accept that life colors outside the lines a little bit.
  21. Even in a co-op game (definitely with just two players but still applicable with more) you kind of have to settle for not doing EVERYTHING on the map in one game. The tacticals are a pain, and the melee is tough as is getting all four staffs. Generally with my buddy we try to fill the chests in the beginning, but if we dont have at least 2 done by round x (usually ten) we stop because it isnt worth it after that point. We almost never go for the tacticals, and we each only build one staff, usually all without ever needing a crawler. If I pass the parts for it while building or upgrading staffs, I'll build the Maxis drone, but I usually never retrieve it after it's first trip back to the charging station, and the generators we only bother keeping 4 and 5 running after we've aquired our desired weaponry and no longer expect to need the pack-a-punch. So, even in co-op, but especially solo, if you don't want to take long pauses between rounds, you just have to narrow down your to-do list to maybe one staff, the sheild, and the generators once each toack-a-punch, then just be sure to be ready to defend Jug at Gen 4. I do however love the map for the sheer amount of options it presents to us as players. I just wish upgrading the melee wasnt an hour long ordeal, and that the tactical would have been a little more creative like the hells retriever.
  22. Unfortunately, you're basing this support off another unproven bit of evidence. The time that the cutscene ocurrs. A mention of 'The Great War' is not concrete fact that this cutscene ocurrs before WWII. After all, we have no basis for where this cutscene takes place. Is it even on the planet Earth? Could it be an alternate reality from our own that never had WWII or even WWI as we know it? Absolutely, it could. Just because we have references to real life people in previous maps that were imagined by Samantha means nothing if the cutscene exists in a different reality from our own. We have separate realities, thus we've had separate histories. My theory does not jump to any conclusions, whereas MMX's does...and lots of them. Your support of his theory also is heavily dependent on assumptions that have no proof. My theory takes the cutscene at face value and does not attempt to answer anymore questions. Therefore, it is the simplest answer. Actually, I'm upset by people that don't accept the gift we've been given by Treyarch. This ending, as I see it, is glorious and I'm thrilled by it. Further speculation that drives everyone in circles is what truly upsets me. Again, MMX, you fail to understand me. It's seems an epidemic now that everyone is jumping to conclusions and making far too many assumptions, not only about the story, but also about debating theories and the attitudes of others while engaged in debate. How is saying "Humans in an alternate history, and/or on another planet" simpler than taking the bits of evidence I've provided at face value? You're making just as many assumptions, if not more. My claim to the time period is valid. I'm not inventing things to make it work. To make your work, you have to invent the idea thatthis may not be Earth, it may not be the normal Timeline. That is far more complicated.
  23. Ternary numbers is basically counting in base 3, for those who want to learn. Basically we count in base 10, which means we have 10 digits at our disposal. 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. When you hit the last digit, you then move to the next digit 'place', so for us, 10, followed by 11, 12, 13 and so on. In base 3, only 3 numbers exist. 0, 1, and 2. So when you count, you go, 0, 1, 2... then what? well the next highest number we can make is 10, so: 0, 1, 2, 10, 11, 12, 20, 21, 22, 100 and so on. The equivalent in decimal (our standard base ten) is just counting and comparing. 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, equals 0, 1, 2, 10, 11, 12, 20, 21, 22, 100 You could code any digit in any base you want. This puzzle uses base 3, but you could use 5, or even 16, just remember you dont go to the next digit place until you've counted up as many digits (starting from zero) as your chosen base. so base 5 would go: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 20 and so on and base 16 would go: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, a, b, c, d, e, f, 10, 11... 18, 19, 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e, 1f, 20 and so on. The a b c d e and f are just common characters to use as new 'numbers' when you run out of numbers. I hope I may have helped any one interested understand different counting bases, but if not, I like reading my own type anyways, so thanks for letting an old timer ramble!
  24. I have got to say I have no clue what the "Sheild" is. So if you still have any of your research from your old works, you should put them up in a thread here. Eternal, you are ignoring the paradox that is present in little Eddie and Samantha imagining up events using real life celebrities and politicians, some of which who werent even born at the time these "games" would have had to take place. I feel it is concrete that the ending cut scene takes place in the earlier parts of WW2. otherwise: She would not refer to WW1 as "The Great War" it simply isnt done that way anymore. There are air raid sirens in the background. So there must be a war. WW2 is the only applicable one. The only other possible time period that could inhabit, would have to be in a reality where WW2 did not exist. Then it could be far in the future. However Occam's razor would dictate that we take the simplest of those two, because both could be equally defended. In fact there is more evidence in my eyes pointing towards WW2 than not, but the argument for not, is plausible. So if it is early 1940, then there is a major paradox involving the events of FIVE, and Call of the Dead. We know FIVE directly connected with ascension, so those events must be happening in the future as well, which would prevent anyone from saying FIVE was real, but all O4 maps were not. There is a paradox involved in MMX's theory UNLESS you subscribe to the idea of diverging timelines. Where as with your theory, there is a major unanswered question. Occam's razor would say go with the simplier, unless the more complicated better answers the question. MMX's response does not leave unanswered, how Samantha and Eddie could have known about JFK, Castro, Danny Trejo, Robert Englund, and etc in 1940. therefore MMX's response is the one which is more valid.
  25. I have to say, this song has grown on me. It took me awhile to like the song, due to the points where it completely shifts rhythm, tempo, and/or time but the vocals, the vocals. It's so much better hearing them harmonize and background for each other, than having them harmonize with layered versions of their own voice. I think this song has wonderful vocals, and an overall exciting tempo that makes it feel longer than it actually is.
