**Official Zombies Ranking System** (Theory)

Recommended Posts

Okay guys, here it is. Official. It's so simple, yet confusing enough to remain a mystery to most who don't like math, haha.

The ranking system is based on 3 factors and 3 main factors only while the other leaderboard qualifiers remain as sub-factors which are weighted much less:

The ranks are:

One Bone

Two Bones

Skull

Skull with Knife

Skull with Shotguns

*The Blue eyes do not symbolize different ranks they come as your number of tallies increase to 5*

The MOST IMPORTANT factor to the ranking system is the infamous Kill / Death Ratio!

They are as follows:

One Bone: Approximately 1-10 KDR

Two Bones: Approximately 11-20 KDR (Can vary being that it's so simple to get to this stage)

Skull: Approximately 30-60 KDR (Still a very wide range of players in this skill range, both great and terrible)

Skull with Knife: 70-200 KDR (Never seen a terrible player with a knife honestly, some are good, some are amazing)

Skull with Shotguns: 200+ KDR

To calculate your K/D ratio: Take your total number of kills on the leaderboards and divide that by your total number of downs. Kills divided by downs and voila you're all set!

The tallies are simply based on frequency of play, you gain at least one per day as long as you play 1-2 games per day. Everyone's rank is increased or decreased depending on current statistics at 7pm EST. Don't believe me, check for yourself.

If you're KDR is in the applicable range, but you HAVE NOT ranked up to that emblem yet, IT IS BECAUSE you have not reached the minimum amount of total kills yet.

You can gain a minimum of one tally per day and a maximum of one emblem (two if you have a game where you get like 10-20000 kills lol).

***Revives, hit ratio, difficulty of game played such as Bus Depot or Custom Games Headshots Only all have a factor although slightly less, if you want to rank up faster make sure you play more difficult games, more challenging ones***

Welcome to the forum!

Because you don't have a 3arc badge or some kind of info from their Twitter or such, we cannot claim this is official. There are a few threads discussing how the rank system is most likely set up like this one:

viewtopic.php?f=100&t=25727

I'm not totally buying into your speculation. Not calling it out or anything, but if we went by those standards, I might as well have a Skull with Tanks as my emblem because I'm far beyond the supposed 200+ ratio and I have only a Skull w/ knife.

Thank you, Infest! And me too! I'm only skull and knife with blue eyes at a 400 ratio, but I just made my account on Sunday and I only have 14k+ kills so far and 36 downs. Today I'm scheduled to increase at 7pm, we'll see what happens. How many kills do you have and how often have you been playing?

I have around a good 112k kills on my main account, where I play on it almost everyday (minus the two days my Live ran out) since the day BO:II was released. A typical day of zombies is generally anywhere from 4-9 hours of pure zombie killing.

According to your theory, If I start a new account and get 200+ kills and end the game. I would have 200+ KD. It should give me 2 Shotguns? Answer is No. There are different elements in determining the rank.

Conclusion: This is not correct. K/D is one of the factors to rank up but NOT THE only criteria.

I meant 60+ instead of 70 with the whole skull knife thing, notice the gap I accidentally put between 60 and 70. I am aware of 60+ with the knife...and that's where the minimum kill variable sets in. One game of course will not take you to shotguns no matter what because of the minimum kill variable...BUT whatever that minimum kill rank is...Idk what it is for shotguns, I believe it's around 20,000. Anyone know of anybody with shotguns under 20k kills?

The K/D... That's great.

In another thread, I asked what determines skill. And the K/D... Hmm... Basically, it's a good value to judge someone's skill. Better than others like Revives/Downs or Headshots/Kill.

I got a KD of 105 and have an expected skull with dagger. As way proofed, there must be more to it. But I would like that the KD is an important value. I like this theory.

Think we get closer and closer...

I didn't play for a weekend cuz sometimes there are better things to do than zombies (although not often :D) got demoted to skull n 2 Tallis, came back played a game died at 26 with 2 downs and most kills, still at 2 Tallis, played another got to 33 with 4 downs, still 2 Tallis, played another 28 with 6 downs, I am still at 2 Tallys, so I can debunk two myths strongly believed, u can Infact lose ur background , and Tallys have nothing to do with days playd.

My conclusion is the rank system means nothing, I've playd with many skull n knives who r terrible, best players I've playd with have same rank as me, skull n 1-2 Tallys, having no life is the only way to rank up, therefore it has nothing even to do with "rank"

As for this whole raises and drops according to skill like the obviously handicapped designer states, not playing for awhile doesn't drop ur skill it's not like shooting real guns which is a deterrable skill, u can go play any game u were good at 3 years ago and still rock incredible head shots, the best players at this game will always be low ranked, but there is a very easy fix to this, don't play with randoms, only play with friends u kno r good, there system has failed so hard ppl will stop playing matchmaking which very well could be the point of all this being as there matchmaking search engine always has and still does fail just as hard as there bs rank crap.

Edit: also I believe this is an elaborate way to bring attention away from the fact those lazy fuckers only made one map for the most anticipated nazi zombies yet.

It's the KDR, trust me. Rounds are not important, KDR is, and the KDR will pretty much be reflected in decent sized rounds. I have 17,500 kills and 42 downs, something like that, roughly 418 KDR and I was just promoted last night. Once a day as expected using the KDR. Made the account Sunday night., shotguns by Thursday night. 5 days, 5 ranks. I believe we're on to something fellas.

Well I will say that adding in the mimimum kill levels helps this theory out immensely, as any numbers that don't line up can be shooed away because of this.

If we are to really take this as truth, we must delve farther into the minimum kill levels for each rank. I think we are saying that shotguns are a minimum of 15k kills. But what about knife, skull, and two bones? If we can get this ironed out we can really put it to the test.

Also, if this is accurate then the levels are quite lopsided. I mean there's only a range of 60 kdr between 1 bone and knife, but a range of 140 kdr between knife and shotguns. Seems strange but 200kdr would explain why one of my friends is still knife...

Also if this is true, it works against Grief players, as getting downed is more prevalent and the games don't go far enough to rack up massive kill totals.

I think people saying that ranks are determined by kdr is the reason why I have noticed an increase of dashboarders recently (damn boosters). So I'd appreciate it if everyone would stop regardless if its true or not. :P

ps. I will be putting this to the test this weekend, I'll report results here.

Exactly, Edward, you have it worked out. I got the knife around 8k kills even when I had an approximately a 500KDR. But I had already ranked up for that day so I had to wait until the next day played a game downed 3x in Town survival custom game round 29 and voila me and my friend both got shotguns at the same time, and h e had a better game than I did that game, but both of our ratios are over 200.

The MINIMUM kills is the next part to the theory, this is regardless of rounds everyone, regardless of easter egg, regardless of involvement...it is KDR, minimum kills and you really need to play every day honestly to get this done the quickest otherwise it will become a pain.

Hey, whats up guys.

I thought id share with you all what i have found out over the past 24 hours.

Like some of you, I was stuck on the same symbol for 2 weeks. Since the game came out,I have been a very active grief player. Focusing more on beating the other team rather than worrying about my stats(other than Kill/down ratio).

After playing countless grief games up to level 20-25 keeping a K/D around 150-200 I never ranked up and gave up trying to. I figured because I never cared about K/D at the start that my current K/D of 64 was a long way away from being able to rank up.

One day I stumbled on a random group of kids playing Tranzit. In this game were 2 persons with the skull with a knife and 1 with the double shotguns. In game I noticed that the person with double shotguns had a head shot for almost every kill. The 2 people behind him with skull w/knife symbol were also killing with mainly head shots but not as many as double shot gun guy. I decided why not try what they were doing? I spent that game going to round 31 working hard on making every kill I could a head shot kill. Also, making sure I hit a zombie with every bullet I could. After that game, I took a break and came back to later play a solo game using the same strategy. I got to round 20 before I died and when i got back to the lobby LOW AND BEHOLD the skull with the knife FINALLY shows up!

So, I thought to myself what did I do differently in the last day to achieve this rank? My K/D rose from 64 to 65 a whole 1 difference. Could going from 64 to 65 be the difference? It could, but I dough it. I had been to level 42 on Trazit before so getting to 31 was not the answer.(Later I became friends with the guy with double shot guns in the first game I talked about. Turns out he had never been past 25. In anything!)It was then obvious that focusing on head shots and hit percentage was what did it. For the first time ever I focused on maintaining a 85 percent head shot AND hit percentage while also keeping a high K/D for consecutive games.

I felt so strongly about what I had found I went to share the idea with a few friends of mine that had also been stuck on the same rank for weeks with no luck. I am happy to report that ALL of them have ranked up to a skull with a knife or double shotguns. The shotguns have been achieved with a 95 percent head shot/hit rating for multiple games. I don't know the range on these percentages but I'm sure we will eventually find out.

I don't know the limits to the percentages. I just know that EFFICIENCY and being CONSISTENT is the KEY to the symbol.

I know it seems Obvious...but if you were like me and played alot of grief and never focused on Head shots/hits and only to survive with a high K/D you are smacking yourself on the head right now! Lol.

Also, in response to Edward Richtofen comment above - this percentage system is the only system that can NOT be manipulated across game types. Although you are more likely to be downed in grief. Your zombie killing efficiency does not vary across game modes. Further supporting this!

Good luck! have fun! and update this as you play!

I think audio may be the closest yet, being as custom games can increase ur rank regardless of settings, i just rankd up after getting to 45 on tranzit on easy, I'm thinking headshots only games might be the secret ( headshots has always been the calling card of all zombie movies and lore) after a few of these games your headshot/kill ratio should jump exponentially I will test this tonight, I have very high hopes about this my faith has been restored thank you Audio

Head shots alone wont do much. All these things mentioned below matter. I have over 12k head shots, still ranked under 6000 which doesn't mean much and I was stuck on Skull with blue eyes for over 3 weeks. I just ranked up 2 days ago after getting my 3rd round 40+ game. Its combination of all these things shown below plus high rounds. Some things matter more than other like Kills and Downs. Mark my words.

I've heard alot of people say it's a kill / down ratio. I don't believe it is.

I have a K/D ratio of 206. I've had this for two days and not once have I ranked up to Skulls & Shotguns. :|

This also proves my point. Its a matter of efficiency. I don't think Treyarch would be so lazy to make it just Kills / Downs. Its a combination of alot of the stats + more. Probably some hidden stats in there that we don't know of.
