Your journey from shitty to "The Shit"

Recommended Posts

Hi, it's the boring guy.

Work sucked today. I came out of the bathroom this morning without zipping my zipper, and some cute blonde had to point in the vicinity of my wee wee. Thought she was checking out my package, but emabrassed and disappointed that she was disgusted upon seeing my package.

I have been playing this game for a long time, and for a while sucked bad. I spent the first few months in the spawn room in fear of faster and stronger zombies, not knowing they naturally progress through the rounds. I took many baby steps and slowly tackled achievements along the way. I recall many of my progressions and how they contribute to the player I have become.

I remember my first round 30 solo like it was last week. I first learned how to play after seeing a tutorial from a YouTuber name Xcalizorz. I had read many guides from Superhands and EyeCntSpel, and seen Tom and Chopper's guides. I danced naked and kissed ugly babies when I was able to reach round 30.

I remember my first respectable coop game. A game with 3 randoms on Five we made it to 28. I understood the team concept and "brothers in tranches" style of play. I was addicted and thirt for more.

I remember NML and Chopper's impact on my game. I played it night and day and even skipped work to play NML. I shivered like a porn star with multiple orgasms when I first PAP my pistol. I was addicted and wanted more. I eventually settled for 176. It wasn't until recently that I broke 260+.

Like everyone else I had set my own goals. I had long wanted to reach round 30 on every map without a down on coop. I was able to do that on most of the maps solo, some on coop. Good enough I guess.

I consider myself pretty good today, enough to go from shitty to "the Shit". The road was rough and bumpy for the most part, but wouldn't have want it any other way.

My journey from shitty to the shit?

Like you, Jay the boring guy, I started to watch Xcalizors play zombies way back when he posted his first Der Riese video, but the very first video I watched zombie wise was a video from Shaun0728 where he clutched round 17 on Shi no numa.

It was the very first time I actually paid attention to this magical game mode. I have seen how much fun people could have, but at the same time I was quite sad because of the fact that I couldn't play it due to me having the german version of WaW.

But I sure as hell watched a lot of videos from Xcal, Hutch and Blame Truth on this Nazi zombies mode. :3

Fast forward to the release of BO1. Now I finally could play zombies. I originally got it for PC because my PS3 was broken during that time. For some weird reason I could only play Five though (When I tried to play Kino I was stuck on an endless loading screen.) which was terribly hard for a newbie like me.

Then I brought my copy over to a friend's PC on which I and he could take turns on playing Kino der Toten. We were quite happy when we made it to round eight. After hours of sh*tting our pants. haha

After days of trying how to figure out how to do zombies I decided to watch Xcal's Kino der Toten tutorial. So after sucking up all the tipps he gave his viewership I went to round 16... by running across half the map. ^^ Shortly after that I made it to round 36 on that playthrough I also decided to stay on the stage to run a zombie train starting on round 30. It was a magical experience.

When I got a new PS3 I also decided to get BO for it because I did feel more comfortable on the PS3 I bought all of the map packs when they were released and grew as a player reaching round 30+ on a regular basis, but I felt like I could reach so much more.

In the first half of 2012 I decided to reach round 50 on some maps which were: KIno, Ascension and Der Riese. I was so proud of my achievements that I actually took a photo of my TV. haha

Now NML was something completely magical. Ever since I watched Relaxing End's videos on it I was hooked, but I was always stuck on 100 Kills because I bought Jugger before PaPing, but then I watched a video from Superhands where he used the cage grenade (I think he was the first one to add this to a NML strategy.) and after a bit of practicing I could actually PaP in 90-100 seconds which was huge for me. I did get 276 kills eventually and have been stuck on that for quite a while, then I came across a thread my good friend @perfectlemonade made in which he developed an "easy" 300 kills strategy. I basically hijacked the thread and it became a "Help Lenne getting 300 kills" thread. Even @ gave me some tipps. Then, after a lot of PMs with Andrew I finally reached exactly 300 Kills shortly before BO2 dropped.

This was my journey to being "the shit".

Then BO2 was released and I only bothered to play it hardcore for the first 2 months in which I reached round 48 on Tranzit and 43 (I believe) on Nuketown. Ever since then my skill declined and now I have to be carried by @Electric Jesus .

Here is hoping that one day I will actually bother to be good at zombies again.

Played WaW, didn't own it. Didn't really enjoy nacht, because I sucked. Round 7 champion. Didn't bother playing other maps. I got really into CoD with MW2, then black ops came out. At that point I was really good at FPS games in general so I played kino. Round 7 champion again. Didn't play for a few months. (didn't own black ops at that point) Watched a ton of Syndicate, learned entirely through observation. I was like Neo learning kung-fu. Went back to friend, asked to play kino. My first game I made it to 17 solo, which blew my friend away, because he was shit too. Bought the game myself, bought ascension and CotD (both out by the time I bought it) refined skill, became good as shit, became fanboy as shit. Come off-season, find out about a certain forum during pre-BOII hype. First thread I ever read? Shangri-La mars theory. Proceeds to scour forums until I know an embarassingly large amount about the zombies universe. Been here ever since, no regrets.

I got an Xbox right about the time Shangri-la was released. Bout this time I had played nact and kino like once at someone's house and didn't get the controls.

I started playing the campaign of BO1 on easy. Took me forever, and at the time I was really confused on how one was so posed to keep track of the screen and enemies. I was slow to aim and slow to react. I was HATED when I started playing Multiplayer. Even then I didn't get into zombies too much, it creeped me out and it's storyline was REALLY over-powering.

Then the hurricane came, we knew it was coming so all my friends decided to go to my house. It was the day before when I was taught about DLC and add-ons. THIS is when i learned about MOON, which was JUST released. We downloaded it, and just by sheer luck, my house was the only one with power out of all my friends. We ended up playing Moon over and over for three whole days. Took us 3 hours to understand how to survive GETTING to griffin station. Then one of my friends (who was on my friends list) freaked out because the cosmonaut had his name on it.

Later we started learning the names of characters. We learned the names: Tank, dempsey, Nikolai, and The doctor. We assumed these were the 4 playable character's names, confusing nikolai with takeo, takeo with dempsey, tank was always correct, and richtofen with nikolai.

Few weeks later I look up the names and start to learn the story through youtube. I am FASCINATED and LOVE it. I felt SO smart after watching them.

Later I found out about the MOON easter egg, and DAMN I wanted to blow up the earth. I practiced as hard as I could. Then I found out I needed to do the Shangri-la and COTD easter eggs. COTD my friend had, and I liked. We thought up this plan that I would get the shangri-la map and do it's easter egg, and he would to the COTD and then we would both play MOON and blow the earth sky high.

This was much better on paper… After MONTHS of GRUELING effort WAISTED match after match, I finally got the COTD easter egg done (by this time I had earned the money to buy COTD myself). MONTHS after that I got the shangri-la easter eggs done. Needless to say I KNOW those easter eggs by heart now… It was then that I FINALLY destroyed the earth. I had heard rumors before, but always stopped the video to not spoil the end for me. I was CRYING it was so beautiful. That is when me and my friend joined CODZ under "Der Atzi". He became violent and after a few months I branched out to become "StopMockingMe". Then I began a simple life, mainly composed of map idea threads. Went through BO2.  Now… I'm here.
