UIt began with more practical explanations for things. Moon wasn't 'fantastical' the way MotD and SoE are. @Kill_All_Monkeys, at least we could explain the monkeys and the Hellhounds because we had backstory and 'pseudoscience' to make sense of it. Burning meatballs falling from the sky? Surely you cannot tell me you prefer that over Hellhounds.

Question: Why Hellhounds?

Answer: In 1945, Nazi scientist Dr. Ludvig Maxis...Group 935...an experiment...teleporter...electrical force...Aether....

Question: Why meatballs?

Answer: Say what? lol good talk.

And I much prefer a wonder weapon with backstory:

Question: Why Wunderwaffe DG-2?

Answer: During WWII, Nazi Germany...inventing wonder weapons (wunderwaffes)...Die Glocke...Element 115...Dr. Richtofen...Dr Maxisn lied.

Question: Why the Apothicon Servant?

Because...it's made from the body parts of a three-headed teleporting land octopus. Yes.

BTW, wonder weapons reduce income and drop frequency, negatively affecting the whole team.

@NaBrZHunter the science of the meatballs is they probably wanted to work in another enemy variant and in the essence of time used the coding for RAPS from multiplayer and slapped a new skin on them. In-game science? Because Cthulu that's why.

I must say though I actually prefer the meatballs over Hellhounds because Hellhounds are easy, and always have been. The Meatballs proved to be my demise for many of the first couple of matched in SoE, and I still come dangerously close to getting downed by them every now and then. Unlike Hellhounds which haven't downed me legitimately since I can't even remember when. Story wise I find Hellhounds to be more fascinating because I know the story behind them, but I always breath a sigh of relief when I see them because all they are to me now are just a delayed max ammo. Meatballs make me anxious, and the sight of them are a little more freaky than even an undead dog on fire. Also The Giant was a huge missed opportunity to not have Fluffy spawn in as a boss every now and then or as part of an EE.

I also agree with SMM in the above post in that there is story attached to these things in SoE. We just haven't found it yet, but also doesn't even exist in the same universe as the one we've been following and incrementally founding out about more of in each map. One in which Fluffy and her spawn exist and not the one SoE takes place in. We had no idea what the deal was with Hellhounds in SNN until Der Riese came out later. Though I doubt we'll get anymore maps in the world of SoE in my personal opinion.

The sword, or at least the first one, has the ground-shock effect like Ruin's gravity wells.

I really want to see what modders can do with that specialist weapon slot. Imagine pushing LB and RB to go turned, were you gain all the abilities of a zombie and invisibility!

Interesting idea, haha. In WaW, its very tricky or impossible to have combination of buttons pressed to do something. Most used one is useButtonPressed();, which is, suprise suprise, when use button is pressed. Zombie Blood has been made, so taking that further shouldnt be big problem :tounge_wink:

I think he might more be talking about BO3 mods where it is easier to do.

@Kill_All_Monkeys I understand liking the challenge; like you said, they missed a golden opportunity, an opportunity which would have allowed them to be comparable in terms of difficulty. Though...it doesn't really matter to me. I love the ol' puppies. I guess the thing is, if we want scary, there are horror games out there designed to make you freak out. While zombies is best when it's spooky, I can't say that a rolling, exploding, burning ball of blood and guts is really....scary. They're slow, and literally act just like the R.A.P.S., which don't hold a candle to the good ol' attack dogs.

And frankly...the backstory of explosive meatballs controlled by a magical octopus is...so meh to me. So it all comes down to preference, and I hope to see more terrestrial threats. Just makes it more believable IMO. The whole "there is a force beyond our control" is an overdone theme in sci-fi and paranormal, and stems from human morbid fascination and phobia. The story used to be fueled by the idea that we are capable of causing problems that spin out of control. But with SoE, it's like they got tired of coming up with their own pseudoscience and just decided to say "because Cthulhu," like you said. So in the end, nothing really matters. Because Cthulhu has all power. Who knows why he even attacks a world with margwas and such when he could just "because Cthulhu" the whole universe into oblivion because, well, he's Cthulhu.

With Cthulhu as the driving force behind zombies, all mystery is lost. I think Lovecraft would be disappointed, as he was fascinated with the "fear of the unknown," and in zombies, we may now have ciphers and weird monsters and incomplete backstories, but in the end, they're all there...because Cthulhu.

@Stop Mocking Me0 Sorry, I can't watch that now. But you'll find that 'because Cthulhu' is what @Kill_All_Monkeys said to explain it all. So now that we're switching tactics...let's just say 'because the Ancient Evil' or 'because the Shadow Man' or 'because The Overlords.' My point is, excusing everything 'because all-powerful being' has the same result regardless.

I am not sure what you guys even are trying to explain, but I don't see why Apothicons instantly mean there is no explanations.

I'm just saying that the odds of them findinh in a scientific explanation for meatballs and the Apothicon Servant seem pretty slim.

Oh, sorry I wasn't caught up with the conversation. I mean, they exist but I don't see why they need some biological evolution when they could have just evolved that way. The Servant is literally built from different parts, when we craft it I think the Xenomatter causes them to bond into that monster thing. I don't see why they need a scientific explanation, you are right its just they exist because of the Shadowman or Overlords.

I skipped ahead to the part you need to watch.

*Silly voice again

*"Actually there is no evidence of the apothecon servant is in any way linked to the overlords. All we know is that it serves the apothicon, is made of margwa and meatball parts, and we don't know if the keepers are apothecons, or if it's the margwas, or if it's the overlords. Have we even considered the possibility that the gun is neither of overlord or keeper's origin?" *

Perhaps it's a failed vrill-made creature? Besides, look at the thing. It's covered in eyeballs. The one thing that neither the keepers, or the overlord's races have.

Link to comment

But the gun is called THE APOTHICON SERVANT and has variations of Apothicon names. It is used in the quest to help the Shadowman release the Overlords, so yeah its there gun and its built out of their stuff.

No it isn't the vril, they didn't go around making creatures. The Margwa's Heart has the eyeball things on them, even so Paraystes have eyes. We do not know how these things evolve in any way.

I mean which are the apothicons? Keepers, overlords, neither or both? and what proof is there of either being the actual apothicons. The apothecon servant clearly serves the apothecon. And the apothecon is made from 2 parts margwa, one part other being. Nothing clarifies what an apothecon actually is however, meaning it's open for possibilities.

They are the race that are lesser than the Overlords, the ones we see like Margwa, Parasytes, Meatballs etc. Its not open ended, you are just over complicating stuff we now know for some reason I do not know. Keeprs might be apothicons that go against the Overlords, makes sense. But they are Apothicons, like what else would they be, where else would the word come from (since i knew of it before I knew about the Apothicon Servant, why would the ritual be called the Apothicon Ritual. Seriously, by your thinking we should throw canon out the window. Who is Richtofen? Idk but he isn't in 935 XD. Seriously don't try to over complicate the obvious.

I'm actually just being a massive dick to mr "perks and wonder weapons don't use 115".  I know full well what apothicons are. XD.  Ok, trolling period over.

Got the first part right. Second part was putting words in my mouth and displaying your inability to validate your claims. So while we're talking wonder weapons, and now in an applicable thread, feel free to give me canon references proving the use of 115 in every perk and every wonder weapon. I didn't say the don't use 115, I said that some WW absolutely do, others we don't know, while perks have not yet been proven (not to say that we won't find out someday. And if they have some form of 115, I will be the last one surprised. All I stated was that you cannot currently prove it, so don't claim it is canon.

Then don't claim that you know anything in the SOE map is an apothicon, or that the SOE meteor shower contained 115. We can draw lines wherever you want.  At some point you need to make your own connections.

Back to the special weapon topic:

WHO WANTS TO SEE A TOMMY GUN THAT FIRES THE FIRE-FLY SWARM-BOTS!

Like, have a tommy gun with over 100 amo, and 999 in reserve. But each bullet calls forth a small swarm. Firing it constantly can form whole massive swarms, but firing it in small amounts will get the job done as well, just slower.

The question is...did I claim to KNOW either of those to be the car? The answer is no. Anyone can go to any of my theories and anytime and point out where it strays from canon, and I will happily acknowledge. I theorize because I can. But at the end of the day, canon is #1, and as I theorize, I judge my theory by the amount of fact available to support it. Same goes for you.

I appreciate it when someone checks my facts, and if I'm wrong, provide correction. in order to do that, you have to be able to provide concrete game evidence or prove that I have none. Example: In my Hot Plasma Weaponization theory, someone reminded me that the Ray Gun uses cold cell batteries. Therefore, I would never tell anyone that my theory was fact.

Maybe bring back the LMG from origins? Cant remeber the name though. Loved that gun.

MG08/15 which I would love back.

Perks do use 115 by the way, where do you think they get their powers from? Also we now know Dr Monty made them with Liquid Divinium like the Gobblegum which is sweet (HELLO HIS FACTORY). Concentrated Divinium and if you want a bit of proof to show how 115 would apply to perks, this post is awesome: http://www.callofdutyzombies.com/topic/179423-the-problem-with-perks-a-possible-explanation-for-the-effects-of-perk-beverages/

Dr Monty's factory is enough to prove it though, in fact I am pretty sure somewhere Richtofen makes a quote about being infused with the power of element 115 when drinking a perk.

Then get off my case about commonly accepted workings, which may not have word-for-word files providing proof, but offers enough evidence and have been accepted as cannon for so long that stating otherwise is practically backpedaling.

Acceptance is not canon. A lot of people 'accept' the theory that the hanging man of Shi No Numa is Peter, but there isn't enough evidence to prove it. Nothing is accepted as 'canon' unless it is canon. Look up the definition. You contradict yourself.
