"Lapis Elixir" - a great precious stone that fell from the sky.

ONE> you guys must remember that the staff's ingame are COPIES of the orgional staff. maxis made these copies. Also in this picture the O4/A4 are wearing Templar desert robes. This is a great find guys, and this makes me believe stronger that treyarch is working on a standalone and this map right here is giving us the clues to the TRUE story of the O4. I cant wait to see where the writers of this story are going to go with this. Thanks guys GREAT work. Im going to see if i can do some digging around of my own and see what i can find.

Maxis could have made copies of his own staves, that were sent into the past with the O4. The O4 went back in time with the staves when they entered the portal at the end of the side quest. They were welcomed as powerful heroes, knighted as Templars, and then sealed off the evil until Maxis uncovered it again in WW1, recovering his own now broken staves, and creating 'copies' of them.

I still can't help but think it's a tribute to Evil Dead, just like the chalk drawings begun in Nacht were a tribute.

These images show the final scene of ED2, where Ash is sent back in time with modern weapons, hailed as the Hero from the Sky, then vanquishes the evil (though he didn't do a very good job, like he foreshadows), and returns to the present time:
