Reviving

Recommended Posts

Just a quick question/questions.

Now of course every map is different, and the number of players can change, and different scenirarios can occur. But i was wondering if people had any tips on reviving, it seems in a 2 player game as soon as a player goes down i find myself in a right old pickle.

So i guess you assess your situation, work out whether you can actually reach them, how many zombies, have you got ammo etc.

In a 4 or 3 player game you its a lot easier to pick up another players zombies and revive, but my question mainly applies to a 2 player game.

I mainly play COTD so if you have any ideas and they can relate to cotd please let me know.

IM glad you asked because I'm sure lots of people encounter this issue. Here are a few general rules to follow if a player gies down.

1. Prioritize your team's survival. If you have to make a choice between attempting to revive someone and running away to freedom, choose the latter. You are at your most vulnerable when reviving a player. If you go down too, you lose, game over. Yes there is a chance you will get them but it is still slim. This brings me to my second point.

2. Run, don't gun! As you may know there can only be 24 zombies alive at once in order to prevent lag. So, just run a makeshift train unti the zombie's are all alive, and DONT KILL THEM! Run then for a loop. This will give you time to run back and pick up your buddy, and it will ensure that no zombies will get in your way.

3. Ya need a little reviiiiivveeee! Quick revive is a generally underrated perk. When it comes down to it, more than any other perks, this is a life saver in intense situations. It takes only one second to revive with it, and about 3-4 without. I mean, everyone wants juggernog, speed cola, mule kick, and flopper for the most part. You should honestly sacrifice speed for it, as speed won't save you in a pinch as effectively as a mate with revive will.

4. Press triangle! One sort of specific thing to note is that if you press triangle while reviving someone you continue reviving, but with your gun out. However, toucan only look straight ahead while doing so. But if you have a scavenger or a raygun and flopper, shoot at the ground while reviving. The zombies will be blown sky high if they try to interrupt you. Also revive the person from the opposite side the zombies are coming from.

5. Designate a medic! This doesn't work in 2 player, but in 3 or more you need a medic. This person needs to have decent skill because they need to survive with the most exotic weapons. I am nearly always the medic. What they need is: upgraded crossbow, upgraded ballistic knife, and a third weapon with mule kick. You can replace either of the specialty medic weapons with a Vr-11. It is unwise to have all 3. Though it may take time for them to get these weapons, simply make the medic the first person to get one of these.

Well that's all I have to say about that.

Some good points there Jebus, didn't know you could get your weapon out and that could be quite essential tbh.

As you say assigning a medic is a good idea, but 80% of my games are generally 2 player, so unfortunately its harder work, especially on a bigger map like COTD, you near enough have to leave wherever you are in order to reach the other side of the map. (Unless they can ping over on the flipper, or are with in reach of a zip wire)

As for QR maybe its something I could implement into my game although in a game full of stronger players, I would no doubt become the player who needs reviving. Speed Cola never is never in my first 4 perks. ( I tend to go for Juggas, Stamina, Mule Kick & Flipper depending on the guns I get out of the box, if I go to the box) so im sure I can fit into my set up some how.

Cheers for the tips there, be good to see what else people have

It's an art really, or a challenge.

To be a medic first of all you have to be at an opportunistic location. I have learned much from Way so will relay a few basics.

When someone goes down you have 30 seconds until they bleed out.

First of all stop shooting, you want to max spawn to ensure no new spawns.

Shoot into the zombie hoard to damage them, in case any respawn on you. Lure the hoard away enough to give yourself time to revive and dash to rescue.

Before reviving change your weapon to the one before your best weapon. While reviving tap triangle (to change weapon), and your gun is drawn in case of emergency. Always face the crowd when revive.

As someone who goes down, do not shoot zombies in frustration. Help your team by going to a better location if any, and wait. Cover fire if necessary.

Last but very important point, your job is not done yet. Continue to seize fire and escort your downed teammate to jug or flopper.

Any questions please contact Way2g00 for more a detailed guide.

Thanks for mention Jay. I am no expert but I been thinking of adding some reviving clips lately to compile a footage. BTW brillaint thread. I had a crazy game on five last night (round 38, mostly camping) where I had some easy / tough revives. I will try and make some footage on that and talk about it. Most basic thing is that right after reviving both players could run a train togther if possible (if zombies are too close) instead of running two different ways on revival. Run together for few seconds, get some distance off the horde and let non white player control the horde and other player can take off for perks. Just remember if you are white player you need to be careful because zombies are mostly glued to him/her. Also remember it takes about 2-3 seconds for juggernog to kick in, so make sure you avoid those two hits at any rate until then :) As Jay said Reviving is an art. Once you let the player die, he or she will be punished and get no red screens. Great reply from EJ.

Thanks! One thing that Jay said that I forgot is one of the most important: your job is not just to revive them but get them back on track. Get them to jugg, provide cover, do what you can to keep them from dowing again!

Here is more info on the medic class!

Primary weapon: any machine gun works

Secondary weapon: vr-11

Tertiary weapon: crossbow or ballistic knife

Perks

Juggernog: A-DURR

Stamin-up: this will give you the edge you need to outrun the mob and get to the downed player in time.

Mule Kick: you absolutely NEEDNEEDNEED specialty weapons! However, If your team goes 10 rounds without anyone going down there is no way in hell you could last with just a vr-11 and a crossbow. You need a decent point gun or killing gun. Mule kick allows you to have the 2 important revival weapons AND a good stand-alone gun.

IMPORTANT! You must choose between a crossbow and a ballistic knife as your 3rd weapon. Having a ballistic knife completely eliminates the need for quick revive, freeing up a perk slot. However the ballistic knife is good for absolutely nothing except reviving. So you basically sacrifice a gun slot for a perk slot.

If you choose a crossbow you will need to get quick revive. The crossbow us still effective for actually killing zombies, so you get a decent gun at the expense of a perk slot. Basically, if you get a cross bow, get quick revive too. If you get a ballistic knife you can use whatever you want for the fourth perk.

Also one other player should have QR and be a back up medic in case the medic goes down. They can have whatever gun they want, but they just need QR.

I think it would be a intresting idea for someone without a mic.

But why wouldn't you? Every Xbox 360 comes with a mic and cheap ones are only around 10$. Plus, the peaon reviving you could have:

A: Bought Quick Revive

B: Checked the area for zombies

C: Don't revive someone while being chased by a giant horde

D: "Pass off" Your zombies to someone else

E: Throw a freaking monkey

F: Throw a Gersche Device

G: Quickly kill off your zombies with headshots\Wunderweapons and revive while they respawn

H:Lead the zombies into a nearby trap and revive while they respawn

I: I believe there's a glitch that will allow you to have your weapon out while reviving someone

J: (Something I do) Stand behind the person so your train can't get to you as fast

K: Have teammates cover you while you revive them

L: Stamin-up will allow you to get to the person before the horde descends, giving you both enough time to get out of the way

M: STOP reviving the person and just RUN

N: Throw lots of grenades/blow them da fuq UP so they will become crawlers and get to you slower

O: Simply get to them faster

P: Use the terrain to your advantage, like forcing them to drop off a ledge, this will impede their progress y that second you need to revive them

Q: Both get behind an activated lightning/fire trap and simply watch the zombies die as you revive your buddy

R: If you can, find a safe-spot like a Lander to revive them on

S: Don't be afraid to let them hit you once or twice, just revive and run (like hell)

T: If the zombies are still spawning, this can be easier than reviving next to a full horde

U: Get Superhands to do it.

V: Start sprinting a distance away from your teammate, to put as much distance as possible between you and the zombies

W:If your teammate is reliable and you have recovery points, take the risk

X: You could just ignore them all together if your situation is dire

Z: In the early rounds, you could simply try to kill as many as possible as fast as possible to end the round, but this isn't recommended.

And THAT, my friends, is what you can do to stop getting killed from behind while reviving someone who is out of ammo.
