They are called Soul Canisters and the boxes in Origins are called Soul Chests. We know Souls are a thing in Zombies and in fact that they are still trapped within the Zombie, forced to look at what they have become.

Where are they called Soul Canisters?

"Oh that's right! The Machine is powered by life force!" -Dr. Richtofen

The fact that the souls are still in the zombies doesn't prove that the souls power anything. Quote from Maxis in Buried confirm that the "souls" are actually the transfer of energy, and in Origins, Dr. Richtofen, the only one who truly knows what's going on, doesn't say that the boxes are powered by souls, but by energy.

Are we talking about the upgraded AK74u? Yeah it's easy to get the 600 points to buy ammo for the non upgraded but once you upgrade it it costs 4500 points. I don't say it's bad and I think AK74u and MP40 are both quite good guns from the wall. Just saying that at some point they lose their effectiveness but some weapons from the box are still effective.

I was saying the AK is very effective for quite some time. I dare say round 20. Now, true, it eventually becomes minimally effective, but honestly, by the time it does, you will have made up enough to buy upgraded ammo and have plenty of points to spare.

Yeah some of the wall weapons were good, but the box had the best ones. Including wonder weapons. Now the Wonder weapons are buildable in both SOE and DE so only reason you'd want to hit the box is for Arnies or Monkeys.

It would make the game a bit more interesting if they put both extremely bad and extremely good weapons in the box and put all the mediocre weapons on the walls... That's how it should be. But because of double PAP every "bullet" gun is considered as a wonder weapon and even Sheiva is relatively good...

And to go back to BO1 for a while... even though some of the wall weapons were alright, it felt like not getting enough points to constantly buy more ammo to your upgraded weapon. Yeah Moon had hacker and you could make ammo cheap, but it was only one map after all.

I completely agree with the second part, but can't say I agree with the third. The AK and the MP-40 were both incredibly reliable, and with the AK being a one-headshot for as long as it was, and then having that even further extend when PAPed, it easily paid for itself. Now, the M-16's 3-round burst really made it a disgusting weapon, while the MP-5 was okay for points, but only barely. The MP-5's equivalent-I'm forgetting its name-was basically a staple gun. So the AK was definitely the #1 pick. Think about it, even if you were on a round where it took three AK shots to the head to kill a zombie, it would only cost 15 shots-half a clip-to make enough to buy more ammo.

I haven't tried BO1 zombies in a while... maybe I have just got better at zombies? But things like shield, gobblegums and double pack-a-punch definitely makes zombies easier. One thing in BO1 that made it hard was running out of ammo... and mystery box weapons were actually better than the wall weapons so it was a choice between a powerful weapon vs. a weapon you could buy ammo. With double pack-a-punch you can get rid of a train with just few bullet with ANY weapon and you also have gobblegums to get more ammo etc...

But the wall weapons were actually relatively powerful. The AK-74u pack-a-punched to AK-74fu2 was insanely good, and on Moon, the wall weapon could be hacked so that PAP ammo cost 400. THAT'S the epitome of OP.

But the cool think about having even MORE powerful weapons in the box is *that's* what made us love and hate it so much. We depended on it. Now it's becoming kind of just an option, should you wanna switch things up some. The wall weapons are some of the most powerful in the game. Sadness.

You got a point, its indeed Sam and Maxis who caused the first Hellhound, however, that doesnt mean they are the only ones who can control them. In Green Run, there are Hellhounds too controlled by Richthofen

Fluffy was still in the teleporter with Maxis and Samantha in this universe, and as in the original, she has simply entered the Aether from which she returns undead. Her destination is unrelated to the fate of Maxis or Samantha.

  6. Holy Toledo, I've been trying to edit that post on mobile for 15 minutes but the save button becomes unresponsive. I was gonna add...

@M16 EPIC I agreed up until the part about Weasle. You'd think we'd at least hear him, Groph would certainly have noticed him and the PA system would have alerted had he arrived in the receiving bay, not to mention that when the MPD opens in DE, the Keeper is inside, and only one being can occupy it at once.

Now, for those who believe Maxis is in it, the voice heard from the MPD cannot be heard by audio capture technology, only neurologically. The words spoken refer to the paradox needing to be resolved. Also, remember, the MPD's shields are down on the moon at the time of DE, and therefore, stand waiting for the Keeper to enter and overtake. If anyone was inside, they would have been seen by Groph or the staff of Griffin Station.

I agree completely. However, opening the MPD doesn't necessitate a soul leaving it. As we have seen in the Moon Easter Egg, you have to acquire the Vril Device filled with energy, collect enough souls to replace the souls, and hit a switch. I don't think that process even remotely happened when Sam first entered the pyramid.

But you are right that there was something before her. Richtofen accidentally touched the pyramid when he first teleported to the moon and got shocked, thus hearing voices and becoming insane later on. It would be wrong to say there isn't anything tied to the MPD, but the question is this: did touching the pyramid cause Richtofen to initiate contact with said voices, despite there being nothing within it? Possibly.

To the contrary, actually. Remember the slaughter that Groph and Schuster conducted? A LOT of folks were murdered near the MPD before Samantha arrived, causing it to open and reveal it was empty. However, the Vril device was not needed the first time as, being empty, all Sam needed to do was run inside and the shields would close. All that was needed in terms of peripherals was the Black Moon Egg. once placed, the tube was powered by the energy (as opposed to souls) of those killed near it.

I also want to re-emphasize the "Ancient Evil" is still not canon. It is used in origins to describe the spread of the zombie outbreak, but is never mentioned in Moon. The 'voices,' however, ARE canon. And based on what we have so far, it's beginning to sound like the voices may be the Keepers, AKA, the Vril Ya, which would make sense taking into consideration that the MPD is an 'Vril Machine.'

  8. You made that? Legendary! That is badass! The only ones that are debatable are SNN (there is a crowd that argues it is in Manchuria) and Morg City...is there any chance the latter might actually be on the Great Lakes instead of the East Coast? I really have no idea if there is anything to indicate where it is located. What did you base its location on?

When you finalize this/get the image to appear in the OP, I would like to add this thread to the Canon Library.

I know they're going after all of the original 4 and that they're going to kill them, and on which versions are better my opinion is pretty mixed. I like Origins Richtofen a lot more than the original, but I do like original Nikolai more than his Origins counterpart. I love both versions of the Dempsey's and to be honest I don't care much about Takeo...

With all due respect, how do you know the originals well enough to have a preference? I assume you've listened to all the old radios and game quotes? Gotta agree about Tak, though. There's a lot more to him this time.

Yeah, and it's freaking awesome :D

STFU, I know what you're trying to do. lol! I prefer they be mentally unstable instead of dramatic...especially Richtofen. He used to keep secrets because he had an evil plan that would get everyone else killed. Now he keeps secrets, and would probably do so at gunpoint because he knows it would be epically dramatic if he took his secrets to the grave, even if they could save the universe.

There. I took the bait. LOL

Aaaaaaah, I see. Sorry I've never played Moon.

Oh, my friend. What have you done to yourself! Get you some Moon! Still arguably one of the greatest maps of all time.

@Stop Mocking Me0 It's not about destroying 935 for O'Takeo though. He seems to have no recollection of that oath. Besides, I'm tellin you right now, I don't believe they will succeed in this mission. Besides...I want the Origins 4 to die. Bwahahaha! And heck...not to mention, I don't want Group 935 to be utterly annihilated.

  12. Pushing the idea repeatedly doesn't mean it's going to happen. So far there has been nothing whatsoever to even remotely imply that those four will be reappearing. Especially since they were just minions from the original universe. Conversely, it seems far more evident that most folks' new Origins 4 will return. Besides, do you know how many people would be downright disgusted to see those four again? Bringing them back is a surefire way to upset mass amounts of fans all at once at an already volatile time.
