Where we stand with DLC 4.

Recommended Posts

With DLC 4 being most likely the final piece of Official Zombies content for Black Ops 2 (Map Wise not Mule Kick for every map). It will be interesting to see how Treyarch will handle this. Currently our only clues to this is a loading screen, more specifically Buried or Resolution 1295.

Loading Screen

What we have here is the loading screen. On the top right we seen two points of interest. A ripped portion of the page leading to a blueprint, and on the bottom left corner, what looks like a page between Buried and this blueprint. The first thing that comes to mind with most of us, is Der Riese.

But before we scream remake. I think what we are most likely seeing, is the blueprint located at the top of all workbenches. ( I apologise for the quality of the picture, best I could find.)

So What Does This Tell Us?

Well, it depends on the way you interpret it. As much as it saddens me, the possibility of remakes for all Black Ops Zombies maps seems unlikely. What must be noted is that all four World at War Zombies Maps were done much before the announcement of Rezurrection. What could happen though, is the remake of one map. Perhaps one many state to be the pinnacle of zombies, Der Riese.

I mean it does make quite a bit of sense. You have the page hidden between Buried and the Blueprint, which could be the next map, whilst you have what could be Der Riese after it. It also makes a lot of sense given that the progression of story could ultimately give every reason to end where it began. This is also helped on the production side of things.

Zombies DLC is taken is turns. DLC 1 & 3 is handled by Zelinski's Zombie Team and DLC 2 & 4 is handled by the Campaign Team. So with DLC 4 being handled by the Campaign Team and DLC 3 now completed, Zelinski's Zombie Team could use this time to work on a remake of an old Zombies Map. It has happened to multiplayer with Studio & Uplink.

Otherwise, if it is not Der Riese and rather a blueprint, it could mean many things. One of my theories on DLC 4. If that it will instead contain two maps. My logic for this is that on Buried, the story line diverges to two separate timelines. One where Rictofen is successful and one where Maxis is. A map for each timeline makes sense given that on Maxis' timeline, he claims that he will destroy the Earth.

Regardless of what Treyarch do, I hope it is enough to keep us through a Zombie free year of Call of Duty as we head into Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Thank you for reading my post and I hope you enjoyed it, first time poster, long time lurker.

It's definitely not the Der Riese loading screen. The markings on the blueprint are different. However, I think you're right that it looks like a workbench blueprint. Why would a loading screen be blueprints? Is there a really significant buildable in the next map? I can't be sure. All I can say is I wanna build me a teleporter.

Also all of the loading screens are in chronological order. Even of Der Riese was remade we wouldn't see it after buried, unless buried took place before Der Riese, which it doesn't.

I'm really interested in seeing this loading screen in its entirety. I'll be sure to check back here when more ideas roll in.

DLC 4 is DEFINITELY not going to be made by the campaign team. that is asinine to think that.

I honestly wouldnt rule out the possibility of at least returning to der reise for part of the map, possibly via teleporter or as part of an EE, but not just a full our remake. something akin to Nacht being in tranzit. We definitely will find out more about the beginnings of zombies I think, especially group 935

There has been some speculation in trayarch that the camp. will be working with the zombies team, But its not JUST the camp. team.... Trayarch wants the storyline to advance in a dramatic way, Which, no offence to the zombies team, Samuel Marelton, Misty, and Russman, have not supplied like Macnera, Nikolai, Robert Englund, tank, Castro, Sara M. Geller, The soldiers, Sal, Danny trejo, Finn, Takeo, the weasel, Samantha, JFK, Richtofen, Gersh, Brock and gary, brutus, Nixon, M. Rooker, Maxis, George A romero, Yuri, Shuster, Groph, and Billy Handsome have...... As well as any other characters of the zombies universe I have not listed....

The campaign team is simply there to make sure the zombie team doesn't screw up TOO badly and make rash choices like sending the O4 to venus... Or make more horrible characters.... Or making the next map take place in france in the 1900s....

Nah I disagree. I don't doubt that they have always collaborated with all teams to get ideas and such, but the fact that some people don't like the characters wont make any difference. they obviously went all in with the characters and voice actors, and the writing for them has been decent. not as good as black ops, but its tolerable. This map is definitely not going to be like Mob of the dead, although the success of mob of the dead has certainly influenced some nuances of zombies like the music in map, the custom HUD for each map, etc.
