  1. This post is written out of order please forgive jumping around. Shirtless, Great point about "learned behavior" due to societies "belief" about certain features. This certainly plays a role regardless of phrenology's "accuracy". In my experience, the correleation between physical and mental/emotional is complex , but real. Compounding the complexity is intelligence itself , and what that even IS. Is it raw "horsepower" of brain function?, Is it one's ability to "go to" abstract places of thought, Is it how much you think?, or WHAT you think? This could go off on a whole other tangent , so here i go.. One great thinker once wrote," There is no intelligence, there is only thought." Some thoughts may cause other thoughts to be permitted , while a specific thought may "impede" you from having "new" thoughts. We build thoughts upon thoughts (Nietzsche) What we see as "intelligence" is a judgment on the complexity of the persons "building of thoughts" and on the persons percieved ability to access a wide variety of thought. A huge thing to consider is the "Chicken or the Egg" ... does the physical feature result in personality trait , OR , does the personality trait result in the physical feature? Niether may be the case, they may be related but not causational. Mainstream science labored under the belief of the Brains primacy over the mind (all mental function is a product of electro chemical Brain activity) This has recently been turned on its head , due to leading Neuroscience study involving buddhist monks and their ability to "re-wire" their brain through directed thought (meditation). This "ability" has since been seen in even the common man. So does the neuro transmitter for a thought /emotion CAUSE the thought? Or does the thought CAUSE the neuro transmitter to fire? Suprisingly science has not provided a definitive answer. Imagine taking apart a radio to find out where the song "is" This is how I look at modern brain science, it will teach you how the radio works...up to a point, and will never address where the song "IS" let alone what the song means and why it is even there. If you look at the brain closely when a "thought" occurs (activity in general) We will see two neurons(they look like clouds attached through a network of strings) and we will see these two neurons close to eachother but NOT touching, and in the space between the two a bolt of lightning(electricity) fires. How closely this resembles the ground below, the cloud above, and the lightning in between is borderline life changing...but lets move on... My point is this...YOU, YOUR THOUGHT, is NOT the neuron, YOU are NOT your brain, YOU ARE the LIGHTNING.
  2. Shirtless, under phrenology's original "teachings" one could map out the head/skull of a subject, we still see today in many phychiatric offices a "phrenologists head'' ... This head was mapped out and lines drawn seperating areas of the skull, and the seperated areas would be listed, agressions, psychopathy, humor, etc, etc, and a very SIMPLISTIC one to one relation was applied...so for example , if the area of the skull marked agression was larger or had a bump , than this "meant" an increase in aggressive behavior in the subject.... very rudimentary imo. In my studies I have found almost NO correlation in any of the specific areas listed on the "phrenologist head" , However , I DO believe that physical features (face head shape, nose, body physique, a person's gate (walk) ) are potential "markers" for infering personality traits. There is reason an actor knows to "become the character" you must "walk" like them.... But walking can be a learned trait..so what about a physical feature one is born with....example , the protruding brow ridge...now some may argue , its only because we have seen neanderthal man with protruding brow, tyhat we now associate the brow with a duller mind. This is possible. I dont believe so. I have known many and had many friends of various nationalities and face types/body types.personality archtypes ... and in my experience, there is a correlation between features and personality.....correlation does not equal causation, and when I make the leap to say THIS feature MEANS THIS...I am guessing, I can not say definitively if this equals that, but I DO see correlation. My guess is Phrenology proponents at the time could not afford to be honestly objective about thier results and instead they had to appear confident about thier "science" ...and I believe they were wrong regarding what equaled what...but the idea itself is worth study. The natural backlash to this line of study is that it gets uncomfortably close to ideas of "genetic superiority" and our world has had many scary dealings with groups claiming such genetic superiority. Allow me to end it with this sentiment... All of Man (women and men alike) are more complex and magical then what this current scienctific "dogma" suggests. and any Man (m/f) regardless of genes is a Divine being with no limits, no boundaries.
  3. Most Muslims are peace-full, loving people. But the extreme fringe element that exists within islam Is a problem "in the house of islam" and to ignore it, will only allow it to fester. Same exact sentiment can be made toward the Political "right"...many are peacefull loving americans, but there is an extremist element that exists in the republican "house" and it must be aknowledged in order to be dealt with. Democratic politicians Lie just like the rest do... though I believe Bernie may just be the exception ( I hope) lastly Phrenology (a debunked psuedo-science claiming to infer personality attributes from physical features)...may have actually been onto something. Although his version was far too simplistic...
  4. thank you nieno, the idea that the cipher is mid form, and that THAT is the big clue , is refreshing and very possible. good luck on the reasoned brute force, i hope it works. I am not fully understanding it yet tho, if u guess\try the correct permutation of 1234 to go with your 56 or 65, would that only give us a new column arragement for the origal ciphertext, wouldnt we then still need a polybius ? great work btw p.s. thoughts on the motd codex (polybius?) where are we at with this, would have been obvious if it were 5x5 instead of 4x4, cuz 5x5 would be nice neat fit with 5x5 alphbet polybius, but it 4x4...why? is it the key to the missing poly, or key to tranposing 123456 ? kinda feel THIS is huge clue yet to be sussed out.
  5. K, double checked , I believe I am right, After we have the columns arranged alphabetically , we then write out the final version of the ciphertext going DOWN each column , and the text becomes a horizontal string , with breaks in the text between each column group, If the motd cipher follows the adfgx rules then the AF would have been in thier own column...and when written out , likely would have been written left to right, as all the others were. I am starting to understand why some people said it was not "in its final phase"
  6. I do get that, thank you, but i am not completely convinced. So those two columns contained one more letter each, Got that, but... When you finalize the ciphertext and write it out , it is not written in column form, so those two columns with (extra) A and F , would have just been written out in continuation with the rest of the ciphertext. The point in the decipher method when you have those 2 columns with more letter, is NOT the final part , and NOT what gets written out as the final ciphertext... I hope this makes sense, I Truly do understand what you said, and it is correct, but now that we have those columns and the last two have extra letter...we are only half way thru the process, From the way I am seeing it , if the A and F are where they are because of what you say, then the process had not been completed. Going to go re-check the whole cipher process to make sure what I am sayng is even correct...cuz there is the whole horizontal/vertical switch
  7. there was a comment from 3arch (allegedly) where they say , I think we made that one too hard (adfgx cipher) I am starting to put more weight behind the theory that the keyword (transposition key) uses repeat letters, perhaps they did this specifically so we would not be able to use the existing adfgx decrypters, but would have to write it out old school, OR adjust a decrypter program accordingly . And bringing back up an old question, why is the final AF on the right hand side and not the left, I get that there is no problem having the final AF on its own, but why is it positioned where it is, doesnt this suggest something?
  8. You actually dont NEED to have a keyword without repeat letters, for example lets use the keyword DECODE , when we are writing out the jibberish underneath the colums D_E_C_O_D_E we will have to mark/remember which letter E is which, but one CAN do this, if you label the first E as E1 and the second E as E2, then when you need to re-arrange D_E_C_O_D_E alphabetically you can do so without messing up which E was which. Hope that explains the repeat letters in the keyword thing. , gotta take a break before writing the next part about 6 letter key, but similarly it is based on good logic , but not ironclad. k, simplified short version , since it is written out in chunks of 6 letters , one might assume that it was arranged 6 columns, one column=one letter of keyword (a bit more to it than that but thats the jist) p.s. guys, if it does use the repeated letter technique , then the programs/websites we used will not work , and we have to write it out, ( not more than 10 min for the legwork once you get used to it) but with the polybius still in question i would feel hopeless even if i thought it was the right keyword.
  9. It is NOT "The giant is in France" decoded with keyword "portal" This IS NOT CORRECT. I have fallen for this and sadly even supported it at a time, i was a fool. It does not work. It isnt even the right length message. Anywhoo check out your other thread , its cleaner. Keyword is supposed to not repeat any letters , but that doeant HAVE to be the case, with a repeated letter , one can lable the first E as E1 and the second E as E2 and then they will be effectively different letters.(E1 would then come before E2 alphabetically) ( I know this makes it even worse, but it IS possible) So maybe i will try Primis and decode, and some other possible key words that have repeat letters, problem is, if we still arent sure about the Polybius (the aphabetical grid) then even the correct key will still reveal jibberish.
  10. Very difficult so far, I am still working it. I failed BIG TIME belieiving in the Portal (The Giant is in France ) LIE. And I arrogantly supported these claims without fully checking if it was real. So... There seems to be 2 main things we need to know.... The KEYWORD, which is the organizing key. , but also we need to know the POLYBIUS , which is the order of the alphabet used in the cipher. The Mobofthedeadabcd 4x4 square in the lower right corner has been called the (motd codex) and next to it is the important bit A = (motd codex) This lead many to assume this codex was the key to arranging the alphabetical "polybius" Even if so, we still need the keyword, And possibly one more bit to add confusion... Is the adfgx cipher we see meant to be read left to right top to bottom, or reversed in some way. (some believe the motd codex is actually hinting at this, and not the polybius) There is a good website with program to make trying out keywords and polybius arrangements quickly, so you wont have to physically write it out. forgot link, but google motd adfgx cipher and it is the one titled geocaching. p.s. Keyword is rumored to be 6 letters (based on how the cipher is partitioned) Turing (Alan Turing broke german Enigma code and invents the computer) Enigma ( famed ww2 german "unsolve-able puzzle) portal zombie icarus editor..... etc. etc.
