  1. Thank you for your patience today, we apologise for the downtime whilst we moved hosts. We are now all setup and we have brought the site back online, things should be a little quicker, we should have no issues with posts/PM's but as usual we are keeping an eye on things and we are running some performance monitoring tools over the next few days for final checks and tweaks. Again, thank you understanding and we apologise for any inconvienence.
  2. The switch over has been completed, we are now with the new hosts. You may notice increased performance (response time are better). We will be monitoring things over the next few days and making adjustments when required. Any issues please let us know.

  4. Hello All, OK, so we have started the ball rolling, we will be starting the process on Friday 8th May at 9am GMT, 2am PST, 5am PST, 7pm (OZ time) when we will be migrating the data over to the new server, this means that the forum will be switched off for the switch over. No access will available after 8am Friday 8th May, it will then take approximately 24/48hrs once the IP address change has been implemented on the domain name before we become available again - we may offer access via other means so keep an eye for this (we haven't decided upon this yet though). Again, thank you for the understanding and patience but this needs to be done now to prepare us for the surge that will come and to make sure we bring you all a reliable and fast site.
  5. As @InfestLithium said, the domain stays the same. All that's changing is the server that supplies us with the tools to make things work and work well - everything remains exactly as it is - just better and faster. The IP address changes, which basically causes the issue of downtime. Until the web understands that the domain name IP has changed (which takes 48hrs approximately). Which is both good and bad, good in that it gives us a couple of hours to tweak things and then bad, in that you can't access us for a short period of time.
  6. This decision hasn't been taken lightly, no move ever is. However, we feel the time is right to make the move to a new server, which will give us more movement, more value for money, better support, better options and less limitations. So we have decided to jump to a new SSD (Solid State Drive) hosted VPS (Virtual Private Server). It is currently running our test development site @ http://www.codztestsite.com and if you wish to pop over and have a look and check out the speed differences then feel to do so. We are still doing some optimisation on it but it is a replica of the current forum from Sunday, we have the pagespeeds pretty good, with some additional optimisation required to get us where we want to be but the crunch part of this, is page loads are 1 to 2 seconds - that's a significant improvement and we are looking to get better. We have not decided a date on when this will happen, but it will happen pretty soon (next 7 days or so). We will make an announcement advising when as it will result in downtime. This is usually 24/48hrs whilst the DNS propogation takes place across the internet (it can be faster, so it's just a case of keep trying when the time comes and keep an eye our twitter/facebook for updates). It's not an ideal situation to have to do this but the benefits far outweigh the negatives and it is the right decision to do. Thanks for your understanding and patience.
  7. ok, so we have tested and tested and tested again and site is all responsive to mobile devices. This is what is being seen by googlebot on the forums Is this what everyone else is seeing?
  8. I understand the issue with mobile browsing is a concern to those using mobile devices (which is a lot) - I apologise if you feel you have been neglected it's not been my or our top priority recently. However, we are nearly done with the optimisation of things and this will significantly increase the speed at which the site response, we will be making further improvements but what we have done is for the benefit of mobile browsing as well. So what we are doing next is looking into the responsiveness side of the site, why it's crashing (which it shouldn't now) and making sure that the site does respond as it was intended to do so. We do have a mobile version of the desktop site available that doesn't respond. So if you wish to use this, please feel free to do so.
  9. Ok, so a little change has been done, and we are now at the following The page load time is averaging 5s at the moment, but I'll get this down with some SQL optimisation but everything is going in the right direction now, the Yslow marks us down because we don't use a CDN to serve static content.
  10. Sorry for the downtime earlier, this was planned rather than not being planned. Effectively what we did is rebuild our Apache service and installed a couple of modules, apache is basically what makes the http service run - improvements have been made to this service. We also upgraded PHP at the same time to give us improvements in how the php extension is dealt with. Overall the results speak for themselves. This is the speed at which the main index is fetched at That is a significant increase from what we did have before the update. We still need to make improvements in the speed at which the forum is accessed, however this has also improved significantly but still not perfect. We are working to improve things further and we aim to bring response times down to 1s to 2s ASAP.
  11. We have made a couple of changes and we have also applied the most recent update for the software, me personally I'm seeing big speed improvements - still got work to do but I want to know if everyone else is experiencing faster or slower or just the same in regards to speed?
  12. Some topics are having issues but these should be limited to topics before AD's were removed, any new topic or existing topic having a reply to them should be fine. It is being investigated. I' am making changes to the way the sql service reads information, the way apache processes requests but we do have some other performance issues outwith our control but we are doing everything we can to get on top of it.
  13. Anyone finding acessing the forum, sections, topics, posts any faster? Might just be me, but I'm seeing a considerable difference.
  14. Just so you know what's being tested here, basically caching has been completely disabled and so has the activity stream. I have also disabled adverts. I think an issue exists with ads and the ajax functionality with new replies to posts at a certain length or going to a new page, when clicking new replies have been made you'll see them appear but if you exit and return they don't show. It's a bug and something I have logged and something I need assistance with because I've tried everything I know and I need one of the IPS team to look at this in more depth, I also want them to help with other issues which I believe are software related (I may be wrong, but something is not quite right).
  15. We've had all four seasons in one day every day recently here
  16. Welcome back, nice to see faces returning.
  17. Welcome back, yeah they have change a little since you last visited. Only just changed in April, still a couple of niggling little things but working on them. Welcome back though, nice to see faces return.
