Closed Alpha for PC Mod Tools has begun!

For all you PC zombies fanatics, the wait for news about Mod Tools is finally over. Treyarch, just this morning, announced that they have invited a few members from the modding community to help them out. You can read the full piece below, and let us know what you think!

    Quote

As of this week, we have started to roll out invitations to a few members of the PC modding community to participate in a Closed Alpha program.

Preparing the tools for this kind of release takes an incredible amount of testing and iteration. We’re excited to have reached this milestone and to be able to provide the participants of our Closed Alpha this version of the Modding Tools to help us test them and lay the foundation for an Open Beta.  Once we are able to analyze the results of the Closed Alpha, it’s our intention to kick off the subsequent Open Beta stage of testing in the following months.

During the next few months, you’ll likely begin to hear from the participants of the Closed Alpha about their experiences working with the tools and working with us. Along the way, we’ll also keep you updated. Please stay tuned to @Treyarch, @PCdev, and this blog page.

Thank you for your continued support and interest as we continue to work on this suite of tools for the community.

    Sincerely,

    Treyarch

Amidst the dark and eerie night
A choice to make – to run or fight?
      The undead horde approaches fast
Armed with weapons, till the very last
In Call of Duty: World at War - Zombies
The battle for survival never ceases
A test of skill, courage and wits
As waves of zombies just never quits
Blood-soaked grounds and a burning sky
The stakes are high, the danger nigh
But in this game, we rise above
To conquer the undead with brute, tough love
With finger on the trigger and heart in hand
We face the terror, and take a stand
For in this game, we live or die
With Call of Duty: World at War - Zombies, we must survive.

    • Category: Playtests July 22, 2026 Enter the Tower: Arkheron Closed Beta is Live for XBOX Insiders Tim, XBOX Program Manager We’re from Bonfire Studios – a small game dev team of industry veterans working on our first game, Arkheron! Today, we’re excited to open the doors of Arkheron’s Closed Beta to the XBOX Insiders Program, and welcome in players on Series X, S, and Windows PC.  Closed Beta is a technical test, so expect some bugs and active updates from the dev team! The test runs from NOW until midnight PT on July 27. For more information on the game and how to join, check out the details below! What is Arkheron? Arkheron is a fast-paced PvP game where teams of three build their abilities and playstyles by combining items during each match. There are no fixed classes: the items you carry shape how you play, support your team, and adapt to your opponents. Spires is our featured game mode during Closed Beta: a focused 3v3 arena for trying out new builds quickly, fine-tuning your teamwork, and getting comfortable with Arkheron’s core combat. Ascension is Arkheron’s peak competitive mode, where 15 teams of three explore a larger map, loot items for their builds, upgrade their kits, and fight their way up the Tower toward a final 3v3 battle. Ascension will be available during limited regional windows on weekends. View the full schedule here. Closed Beta Exclusives Closed Beta also includes our first test of cosmetic progression! By playing Spires and Ascension – opening chests, defeating monsters, completing Challenge Rifts, and ascending the Tower – you’ll earn Pages. These Pages can be used to unlock playtest-exclusive ‘Prestige’ items that will remain on your account even after the test ends! • Marvel's Wolverine, Spider-Man developer Insomniac's upcoming action game, launches in less than two months, but we still know very little about its world and story. Sony's recent summer showcase gave us our first real look at its gameplay and featured a slice of the narrative, but we're still eager for more information about the violent journey Logan will be taking on. Luckily, Entertainment Weekly published an interview today with several of the game's developers, and it sheds some light on the state of mutants and the X-Men in the video game world. More specifically, it reveals that the X-Men don't exist yet. "Marvel’s Wolverine, which will release on PlayStation 5 consoles this Sep. 15, is set in a world where the X-Men don’t yet exist," the article reads. "While humanity knows about superheroes like Spider-Man (hence, the events of the previous games), mutants are still largely living in the shadows. "Those that do know of them, either fear them or see them as subjects for extermination. Wolverine works for Team X, a black-ops group (inspired by the team from the comics) fighting for mutant survival." Based on what we've seen in the trailers, this makes sense – Wolverine is generally acting alone, and while he's familiar with other mutants, we've yet to see anyone with a matching yellow suit. Even Jean Grey, who appears in the Summer State of Play footage, wears blue and black, and her relationship with Logan is pretty vague. Still, it's a bit disappointing for folks who have wanted to see a narrative-driven game featuring the X-Men team, but hopefully this paves the road for Xavier's Academy in the future. As for Team X, the team Wolverine is a part of in the game, it's not clear exactly who's on the roster. Sabretooth, Omega Red, Lady Deathstrike, and Mystique have all been members in various adaptations of the group, and they're all confirmed to be in the game, but Wolverine also seems to be battling each of them at some point or another, so either he has a falling out with his teammates (very likely), or they're enemies of Team X (also likely). Aside from that detail, the interview largely focuses on Insomniac's take on Wolverine as a character, as well as actor Liam McIntyre's performance. McIntyre tells EW that he watched footage of rabid dogs to get in touch with Wolverine's feral side, a level of commitment his collaborators called "terrifying."  “I guess that’s good, right? Being terrifying,” McIntyre told EW. “But, suddenly, I was like, ‘I’m really scared to go all out with this,’ but they’re such a good team that you feel safe. They will help me if it’s not gonna work. They will tell me. They won’t just let it happen. So I got to take some really huge swings with my character as a result of being able to trust them so much.” Later in the piece, animation director Brian Wyser says that trust makes the final product "look good." Marvel's Wolverine launches on September 15 as a PS5 exclusive. For more detailed breakdown, check out our preview of the game, analyzing its extended gameplay trailer.
