Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 May 17 Update – Barebones Update

The latest Game Settings Update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is now live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

One of the updates is the return of Barebones now with Kill Confirmed, alongside TDM and Domination mode as part of the rotation for it. Barebones features no Specialist and one equipment per life delivering a more classic Call of Duty experience in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

The community’s response to our Barebones game mode has been fantastic since it launched with TDM and DOM, we’re expanding on the old-school formula with Barebones Deathmatch Moshpit to introduce Kill Confirmed into the mix along with TDM. The same rules apply: no Specialist Weapons, no Special Issue Equipment, no Gear, and no Operator Mods allowed. Check out this new Barebones variant in Multiplayer.

Stay tuned for today’s updates full patch notes.

Amidst the dark and eerie night
A choice to make – to run or fight?
      The undead horde approaches fast
Armed with weapons, till the very last
In Call of Duty: World at War - Zombies
The battle for survival never ceases
A test of skill, courage and wits
As waves of zombies just never quits
Blood-soaked grounds and a burning sky
The stakes are high, the danger nigh
But in this game, we rise above
To conquer the undead with brute, tough love
With finger on the trigger and heart in hand
We face the terror, and take a stand
For in this game, we live or die
With Call of Duty: World at War - Zombies, we must survive.

and later released worldwide on December 14, 2011.
The game features the same gameplay mechanics as its predecessor, with players fighting off waves of zombies as they try to survive for as long as possible. The game also includes a new storyline set in a Cold War-era Pentagon, with the characters from the original Zombies mode returning to fight off the undead.
The game allows for up to four players to play together via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and also includes a single-player mode with a new leaderboard system to track high scores.
Call of Duty: Black Ops – Zombies received mixed reviews upon release, with critics praising the game's addictive gameplay and multiplayer functionality, but criticizing the graphics and lack of content compared to the console versions of the game. Despite this, the game was a commercial success, with over a million downloads in its first week of release.

The games in this series are primarily first-person shooters that simulate real-world combat scenarios, with a heavy emphasis on multiplayer gameplay. Call of Duty has become one of the most successful and popular video game franchises in history, with millions of copies sold and numerous accolades and awards.
Each Call of Duty game typically has a different setting and storyline, ranging from World War II to present day and beyond. The games often incorporate real-world events and locations, as well as fictionalized versions of historical battles and conflicts. Single-player campaigns usually revolve around a central protagonist or group of protagonists, while multiplayer modes offer a range of gameplay options and customization features.
In addition to the video games, the Call of Duty franchise has expanded into other media, including books, comics, and a feature film. The games have also spawned a vibrant esports community, with professional players and teams competing in tournaments and leagues all over the world.

    • Nintendo has permanently shut down the online servers for the original Splatoon as of April 8 this year. However, one player has managed to remain. Posting on X about their experience being the last Splatoon player, user Lcd101 is staying with the 2015 Wii U title until the very end. As picked up by GamesRadar, Lcd101 has been posting since April 9 about their efforts to stay connected in the decommissioned online lobbies. "Almost a day after closing, I am the final Splatoon 1 player online. I'm going to hold out for as long as I can," they posted, including a screenshot of the Splatoon matchmaking system trying to find other players to pair them with. Despite the server shutdown, Lcd101 chronicles the game still rotating through maps in the matchmaking lobby with no one being online to play. Lcd posted regular updates from the matchmaking lobby for 15 days after the official shutdown before they were finally kicked out of the lobby. Some other online features still remain, however, as they showed they could still access the plaza and shops, both of which require a connection. "I am still online, but the lobby gives me the error code for maintenance, 106-0811. I intend to stay online in this state for as long as possible," a recent update reads. Most Splatoon players have moved on to more recent titles, with Splatoon 3 for the Switch being the most title in the franchise, but it's interesting to see how long Lcd101 will be able to remain online in the original game. Splatoon isn't the only decommissioned game that has dedicated players staying online. Twitter user @GaffsNotLaffs is tracking multiple players who managed to stay in games after the Nintendo Network shut down, including two in Mario Kart 7, two in Mario Kart 8 on Wii U, four players in Xenoblade Chronicles X, and just one player each in Pokemon X and Y, Mario Maker, and of course, Splatoon. • Popular WWE 2K24 creator WhatsTheStatus announced on X that all his uploads had been deleted from the game, and that he had received a permanent online ban from the 2K game. The creator was known for uploading hidden content from the game's files to WWE 2K's community library so other players could access it. As reported by VGC, WhatsTheStatus, popularly known just by Status, took to X to tell fans that the total removal of his uploads was done by 2K, not him. The next day he revealed that he had also been permanently banned from all of the game's online features. "We were recently alerted that this account has been associated with inappropriate content," the ban message reads. "This is a violation of our End User License Agreement which every player accepts prior to accessing WWE 2K24 online features." A 2K spokesperson gave a statement on Status's ban: "The player in question has received an indefinite ban due to violations of terms. Mods which negatively impact the game experience for other players violate our terms. Our primary concern is a positive WWE 2K24 experience for all players." Status is known for uploading hidden content from the game, including hidden models of certain wrestlers, or uploading usually unplayable characters. His notable uploads for WWE 2K24 included content that allowed male and female wrestlers to face each other, something which isn't allowed by the main game. Speaking to VGC, Status expressed confusion on the ban, saying he hadn't been given any warnings, nor had he been told what uploads constituted inappropriate content. "I was banned with no warning and no confirmation on what caused it, so it could be anything," Status said. As he's a popular creator providing access to valuable content for other players, other WWE 2K fans are also upset about Status's ban. #FreeStatus trended on X in the United States and Canada earlier in the week, while players are also flooding the game's user-uploaded libraries with images bearing the same slogan. 2K got itself in hot water over WWE 2K24 moderation earlier this year, when players were uploading explicit imagery to the game's Create-A-Sign feature en masse. Many of the pornographic images managed to make it to the top of the trending pages, with some of them staying up for days at a time. View the full article
