COD Zombies doesnt give us much choice on how to play...

Recommended Posts

1) Zombies means high round. This should be all about training and using a special weapon, tactic,...

    to kill the hordes.

All high round we see is players camping, because  in cold war, just like the previous zombies

makes training impossible from round 55-60 and higher.

2) So many guns to level up and only the wonder weapon and raygun (die machine), or

the wonder weapon (firebase z) can help you out to go high round.

WALLBUY: completely a spoiler --> random attachements instead of your gun you levelled up.

    Wallbuys are worth nothing.

3) New melee weapons like the sledgehammer or japanese sword are to be unlocked in multiplayer???

I have them but not alot of my friends.

Though CODZ has a number of good new features:

- the supports, lethal and tactical equipment you can buy.

- the zombies always give you passage in narrow corridors

(if you run next the airplane in die machine from the high ground via the box passing the plane

the zombies all run in a line on 1 side)

- open spaces to train

- wonderfizz

- ammo boxes

- etc...

But all these features become useless after round 60 unless camping!

Try to buy  a chopper, buy armor, train the zombies, buy a perk in round 65.

Monkeys have become useless cause you go down before you throw them.

For me Firebase Z is looking more like the game The Killing Floor than the classic zombie training

strategy: exploding dogs, manglers, armored zombies, memics, ...

I still love the game vey much but the zombies running at Husain Bolt speed are a big spoiler for me.

My high rounds in die Machine crashed (2 times in a row) at round 196. It is on leaderboards though so a bit of a comfort.

A hardcore zombie player.

They added way too much busy work, so my friends and I still enjoy the simple early maps best (and the reprints in bo3).

So maybe this cod will appeal to me, but after the bo4 disaster, I'm afraid to spend money on a cod game at all.

In looking for opinions, so thanks for this post.

Cold War to be honest, is one of the generally easier games we've had in the while. Personally, I like it better then Black Ops 2 and that's saying a lot. Most of the "difficulty" comes from an essentially new meta with the points system (which makes SMG's and other guns less viable, since you can't farm points) but allows for some creativity with the attachement system, killstreaks that are not necessarily needed but reccomended, and a fun way to do specialist weapons that aren't too overpowered.

Though the only problem is that to grind out Aetherium Crystals, you either go for high rounds (which idealistically isn't reccomended due to method #2), or play Outbreak which gives you a metric ton of crystals if you manage to get to higher "warps" and do objectives.

Lore is also mostly accessible to everyone, and the Easter Egg Difficulty is around Black Ops 1 level again.

But, it's all up to you in honesty. Buy it if you want

Theres a lot that they should do with zombies.  The thing i hate most about COD zombies is that first 10 rounds where everyone ignores opening anything or getting the power pack unlocked before things get hard.  I swear 90% of the games i play would be over by round 12 if i didnt open at least 75% of everything.

Most zombie games dont have this strange restriction to power progression.  I like the objective based stuff but dont restrict it, most of the COD Zombies community doesnt seem to understand how important getting the upgrades powered up is.

Another thing that would be nice are options to jump 10 rounds, and a one death mode.  Skipping the first 20 rounds and starting with enough to upgrade appropriately.  Give me the option to enjoy rounds 20-35 without the multi hour investment getting there.  Permadeath mode would be solid fun just to see how far you can go.

Outbreak should have all objectives open to  use multiple times per round.  Some people find a nice comfortable and fun balance to difficulty but then run out of stuff to do, who might not want to increase difficulty.

Im somewhat baffled with how long this game mode has existed and it feels like sort of a tacked on side project it started as....a decade later.   Simple stuff like a safe house between rounds like L4D that would allow people to like go to the bathroom and refill waters ect, on top of being able to upgrade in peace without zombies gnawing on you would go a LONG way for QOL.  Right now getting above round 35 is brutal with small random downtimes thats usually more based on someone off on their own fininshing up the last mobs of the round.

I really hope to see more of a stand alone zombies that does what all the other zombie games nailed like 10 years ago.

A bit of an update to my review -

Outbreak's Easter Egg has a bit of decent difficulty to it, as it actually has a bit of difficulty mostly from having to deal with a lot of one enemy type (Mimics)

The story implications behind the Easter Egg, I'm not gonna spoil, but it sets up some REALLY interesting stuff for the future.

Still very good as is, Die Maschine is a very good starter map but is lackluster in some areas. Firebase Z is also a welcome addition, however, it being a bit of either a "loved" map or a "hated" map. People are also complaining of course that it isn't Black Ops III with the DLC cycle, but Outbreak is a genuinely enjoyable experience that has both it's perks and it's downsides, along with Onslaught getting decent support and a retune to make it even more enjoyable. Along with the fact that you can now do weapon challenges in Zombies.

I give Zombies this year so far about a solid 7 or an 8, there's some stuff I don't like, for instance, the weapon tuning updates changing the meta every once in a while, but it's still great nonetheless.
