  1. I anticipated it based on the way they now release the DLC.  They changed the system so that now (and this is speaking roughly), everyone gets the DLC in a patch to their console as opposed to downloading it from the store.  This means that they have it on their system but can't access it, and ATVI can just flip the switch to allow access for all and promote weekends like these!

If any of you are like me, you have just recently prestiged and were prepared to grind hard through the ranks this weekend.  Well, the grind just got a bit easier.  Treyarch tweeted out this morning that both Double XP and Double Weapon XP will run from Friday morning to Monday morning (10 AM PST as the start and end time).  While I was hoping for a Double Cryptokey weekend in honor of the new Supply Drop taunts, gestures, and weapons, this will certainly suffice.  With yesterday's credible leaks regarding Infinity Ward's next game and Treyarch live-streaming their DLC 2 premiere tomorrow, this is shaping up to be a fun week for Call of Duty fans.

No I'm saying Noah J456 said there will be a big surprise, and judging by his reaction to it, it's going to be a major map feature.

Oh okay, I'm on the same page as you now.  I can't even begin to speculate what the surprise will be haha, there are just so many options.

He seemed REALLY happy about it. So I doubt it's something we wont' be getting later on like an easter egg, but rather something IMMEDIATELY apparent in the map like a weapon, the characters, a boss. Something along those lines.

Like I said, I think it's Marlton and Co. but it could just as well be the raygun M2. Maybe both, after all the last place we saw either of those is in buried.

Are you referring to Blundell saying pre-launch that there would be something we would never figure out?  Are you relating that to this Thursday?  I'm sorry, I am confused.

No, there is no confusion. This post:

already existed and did a perfect enough job of being the place for discussing the DLC. The guy posted it here first, so the discussion should be had on that post. Having a news post is fine, but you tried to start a discussion about it here as well which can both take away from his post and cause confusion to people because there will be two posts talking about one subject.

At the time of posting the article, I wasn't aware there was another topic on it. When I found the topic, I merely commented that I made an article and anyone can look if they wanted to (considering mine had more content and in my eyes, the other did not do a "perfect enough job"). No need to then take out the discussion portion out of my own post, but I understand where you're coming from. Thanks for the feedback.

  6. Yup exactly, there's no "taking it from under the rug."  The point of news articles is to offer more in-depth discussion about an idea and make it more prevalent.  Just because there's a topic on it in the site doesn't mean there shouldn't be a news article about it.

EDIT: @Nightmare Voyager, perhaps the confusion is coming because I forgot to add this to the news section as well, so it just appeared as a regular post. My apologies then if that's where this is coming from.

I don't believe people just want things to be "free", I feel like people are just tired of being screwed out of a good thing. When you pay full price for a game, you expect 100% of the product, no questions asked. However, it IS 2016 and this is just flat out no longer the case with video games. I think people want their products to be free from the chains of retail. I mean, that's why we bought the console and the game so that we wouldn't waste quarters at the arcade. However, as games evolved to become more complex and graphically inclined, the price to consistently put out a new game every year became just as inclined and complex. This creates a biome of hunger. Hunger for profit. This hunger creates an atmosphere of greed and effects the player-base with decisions like "new guns are NOT immediately available but if you are lucky and/or spend money you MAY get what you want". This concept is closest to the idea of gambling and allows me to set up my argument that video games are addictive and can become a bad addiction or a bad habit. South Park covered how indie game companies prey on weak minded, loose walleted individuals who shell out all their earnings for a chance at greatness but this individual makes up less than 5% of the addicts. Yet they are the targets for abuse in this freemium world. We need to remember who is the victim. Not the player who wants free shit but the people with addictive personalities who can't help themselves when you say, "Pay 100% and you have a CHANCE to win!"

The only reason we should all not give a fuck is because America allows people to blow their money on fuckery without question. America's business is business and if a company isn't making more each year than they are doing something wrong. From a business perspective, Activision is going to outlive us just like it outlived Atari.

You are paying x amount of dollars for what you get, not everything that comes with the game later. That's how I see it at least.

  8. Call of Duty fans, rejoice! Coming on Thursday, March 31st (only two days from now!!), is the first look into Black Ops 3's DLC 2.  Many were expecting a Zombies trailer similar to Nikolai's Memories (read a breakdown here) to appear today, but alas it has not happened yet.  Perhaps as compensation (or purely coincidental), the Call of Duty twitter account sent out a tweet letting us know that the wait is almost over.  Note that while the franchise says this is our "first look" at DLC 2, it really isn't.  Remember that just a couple weeks ago, an image of the Zombies map was leaked and spread like wildfire (by leaked, we mean the team at Activision messed up).  For a breakdown of that as well, I recommend going to this thread and continuing the discussion.

So, what do you guys think?  What do you expect the community will get to see?

Update 1: Treyarch has confirmed that they will be streaming, discussing the multiplayer maps as well as having NoahJ456 on to talk Zombies with Jason Blundell!

Update 2: The stream will begin at 11AM Pacific Time, and the tweet specifically says "There will be zombies." Eeek! Here's a new image to go along with it:

I have not played it. Nor will I do so. What do you mean?

I've seen the comparison to that game a few times, or rather the hopeful thinking for what people would prefer. I don't understand it either, as I have not played it, but I'm with you on not understanding. The way I see it, microtransactions are not a bad thing and people are expecting things to just be free.

  10. To me, I'd rather them just allow people to buy the weapons directly, or give them to season pass holders. People complained that CoD Points would make the game pay-to-play (which Call of Duty is nowhere near, for the record), but now the odds aren't good enough and people are somehow getting scammed (even though everyone is well aware of what their chances are when they buy Points). I don't understand it, people are just never satisfied.

  11. @XPG Richtofen Would you mind changing the title to reflect that Activision no longer owns the trademark for Space Warfare? They gave it up in 2014 (I believe), as per the sources below. Perhaps add some more information to the article?

I'm excited for this one! I, personally, don't think it will suck, and find it pretty dumb to just assume it will tbh.

For those interested, here are the sources: GameSpot, Eurogamer, Shinobi

They need to step up their game with the second DLC. Eisendrache was great but the MP maps were shit.

You weren't a fan? I personally enjoy them. (imo), Gauntlet is great, Splash is fun, Skyjacked is growing on me (but the boosting has made the map much different to play), and Rise is meh/forgettable. How do you see the four?

  13. How long do you think it is until we get this next specialist? I'm eagerly anticipating it haha

EDIT: Reading your ideas, I feel as though the "big boom" is sort of covered via the Gravity Spikes. That range is crazy! I see what you mean, however.

    That was actually a thing?

Randoms can be petty as hell. wow

I'll be honest, that's all I ever did (though I have never played in lobbies, just solo). I'm not about playing for a long time to get nothing "tangible" out of it haha :p

  15. Call of Duty is something we are all used to as a yearly installment, putting up huge numbers with each and every game. Black Ops III certainly followed this trend, becoming the sixth straight game in the series to break the $1 billion mark. Additionally, in North America, Call of Duty was 2015’s top-selling franchise - an award they’ve held for seven consecutive years now.[1] To add to the statistics, the life-to-date sales of Call of Duty surpassed 250 million units in 2015! (For comparison, the closest mainstream franchise is Grand Theft Auto at roughly 225 million, 95 million of which was just GTAV). Also to no one’s surprise, Call of Duty is poised to make a big impact yet again in 2016, so let’s dive in and see what they have in store!

In early February, Treyarch released the first of four DLC map packs and I’d argue it was virtually everything the community asked for. In zombies, Der Eisendrache instantly became a new favorite for many. With three DLC packs to go, the community is eagerly anticipating what Blundell and his team has in store for us. Over the last few years, there have been a good deal of complaints regarding the zombies storyline, from the lackluster Black Ops 2 to the introduction of the multiverse in Origins. But with Black Ops 3, the potential certainly exists for Treyarch to turn it around. They’ve introduced many new elements into the story, but have started going back to their Black Ops 1 roots and coming full circle. Note that not all appreciate these new elements I mentioned, feeling it’s become too “otherworldly,” but only time will tell how the story progresses.

In case zombies isn’t your thing, the world of multiplayer received four new maps (Splash, Skyjacked, Gauntlet, Rise) that were more-or-less well received by even the most critical gamers. Plus, competitive multiplayer grew substantially in Black Ops 3 thanks to the addition of Call of Duty World League (CWL). Presented by PlayStation and operated by Activision (who also owns Major League Gaming, remember), it’s a worldwide competitive league where the best of North America, Europe, and Australia/New Zealand battle for the title of World Champions. However, if you want to get in on the action with the pros, Activision also introduced the CWL Challenge Division. It’s targeted at “aspiring or amateur Call of Duty players” and allows them “to earn their way to the” Championship.

The Championship this fall will mark the conclusion of the Call of Duty World League’s first season, and because of this, Activision will be holding a “major community event” aimed at “celebrating the community.” Perhaps we’ll be seeing the return of Call of Duty: Experience (CoD XP), after its successful debut in 2011? The description for this year’s event could be interpreted as pointing to that, where fans will gain “special insight and access to the world of Call of Duty.” In the 2011 rendition, attendees could paintball, zipline, and even run through the training course. (To us zombies fans, I’m sure we can look forward to another fantastic panel!!)

But of course, the entire reason CoD XP 2011 took place was to launch Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 3, and late this year, they’ll again be launching their next Call of Duty title. Their most recent game in the franchise, Ghosts, was viewed negatively by a large portion of the community, so all eyes are on them to bounce back and deliver a title that the community can get excited about. What is so interesting about Infinity Ward’s fall from grace is that they’re heralded as making some of the greatest Call of Duty games in recent times (Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2), but went downhill after losing much of their staff to Respawn Entertainment. Many wonder whether they’ll try to push the envelope with the game, as the last few games have done, or if they’ll try to appeal to the old Call of Duty crowd. Whichever way they go, Activision has promised that the game will be both “ambitious” and “great."

  16. Nuketown was first introduced in the original Black Ops and was an instant fan-favorite, “with its fast, frenetic engagements and classic run-and-gun gameplay,” as Activision put it. They reintroduced the map in Black Ops 2 as Nuketown 2025 (plus Nuketown Zombies), and then did the same again in Black Ops 3 as Nuk3town. Also in Black Ops 3 was the Nuk3town Personalization Pack, containing a weapon camo, three reticles, and a calling card (for those into that kind of thing)! Well, great news for those who love Nuketown! The map, as well as the Personalization Pack, is now available for free for all Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC users! Along with this, Treyarch has added a Nuk3town 24/7 Playlist to Black Ops 3 for the next week! So go grab the map, and we’ll see you online.
