Amidst the dark and eerie night
A choice to make – to run or fight?
      The undead horde approaches fast
Armed with weapons, till the very last
In Call of Duty: World at War - Zombies
The battle for survival never ceases
A test of skill, courage and wits
As waves of zombies just never quits
Blood-soaked grounds and a burning sky
The stakes are high, the danger nigh
But in this game, we rise above
To conquer the undead with brute, tough love
With finger on the trigger and heart in hand
We face the terror, and take a stand
For in this game, we live or die
With Call of Duty: World at War - Zombies, we must survive.

and later released worldwide on December 14, 2011.
The game features the same gameplay mechanics as its predecessor, with players fighting off waves of zombies as they try to survive for as long as possible. The game also includes a new storyline set in a Cold War-era Pentagon, with the characters from the original Zombies mode returning to fight off the undead.
The game allows for up to four players to play together via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and also includes a single-player mode with a new leaderboard system to track high scores.
Call of Duty: Black Ops – Zombies received mixed reviews upon release, with critics praising the game's addictive gameplay and multiplayer functionality, but criticizing the graphics and lack of content compared to the console versions of the game. Despite this, the game was a commercial success, with over a million downloads in its first week of release.

The games in this series are primarily first-person shooters that simulate real-world combat scenarios, with a heavy emphasis on multiplayer gameplay. Call of Duty has become one of the most successful and popular video game franchises in history, with millions of copies sold and numerous accolades and awards.
Each Call of Duty game typically has a different setting and storyline, ranging from World War II to present day and beyond. The games often incorporate real-world events and locations, as well as fictionalized versions of historical battles and conflicts. Single-player campaigns usually revolve around a central protagonist or group of protagonists, while multiplayer modes offer a range of gameplay options and customization features.
In addition to the video games, the Call of Duty franchise has expanded into other media, including books, comics, and a feature film. The games have also spawned a vibrant esports community, with professional players and teams competing in tournaments and leagues all over the world.

    • Nintendo has announced that it is buying Shiver Entertainment, the Miami-based game studio known for the Switch ports of Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat 1. The studio was previously owned by Embracer. "Nintendo will acquire 100% of the outstanding shares of Shiver and make it a wholly owned subsidiary. By welcoming Shiver's experienced and accomplished development team, Nintendo aims to secure high-level resources for porting and developing software titles," Nintendo said. The company added that Shiver's focus will "remain the same" after joining Nintendo, and that is to continue porting and developing games for multiple platforms, including Switch. Nintendo did not specify a purchase price for Shiver. The company said the buyout will have "only a minor effect" on Nintendo's business results for the fiscal year. Shiver's CEO is John Schappert, who was the founder of EA Tiburon, the game development giant known for the Madden and NCAA Football franchises. He later rose higher at EA all the way up to SVP of Worldwide Studios at EA before joining Xbox and then returning to EA. Nintendo rarely acquires companies. The company's last big buyout before this was the purchase of longtime collaborator SRD in 2022. In 2021, Nintendo purchased another longtime collaborator, Next Level Games. The move to buy Shiver comes ahead of the expected 2025 release of the Switch 2, or whatever the system ends up being called. As for Embracer, the Swedish gaming group is selling franchises and studios as part of a cost-cutting and restructuring effort, and it seems Shiver was part of that. View the full article
    • Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, the long-awaited sequel to Ninja Theory's 2017 action-adventure game Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, is out now on Xbox and PC. Reviews are online, too, painting a picture of the game's critical reception from critics. Here at GameSpot, our Hellblade II review scored the game a 6/10. Reviewer Jessica Cogswell wrote, "With too much focus on cinematics and too little on creating an experience that is engaging, Senua's Saga fails to reach the same highs as its predecessor--even if it does look stunning whilst trying." Hellblade II is exclusive on console to Xbox Series X|S thanks to Microsoft owning developer Ninja Theory and the game franchise. The game is available now on Game Pass for Xbox and PC, or it can be purchased outright for $50 USD. While Microsoft is bringing some of its first-party games to rival platforms, like PlayStation 5, Hellblade II has not been confirmed for Sony's system. You can see a sampling of the review scores for Hellblade II below. For more on the critical reaction to Hellblade II, head to GameSpot sister site Metacritic. Game: Senua's Saga: Hellblade II Platform: Xbox Series X|S, PC Developer: Ninja Theory Release Date: May 21 Price: $50, also included with Game Pass. GameSpot -- 6/10 "While few games can rival Hellblade 2's sound, graphic fidelity, and talent for rendering stunning vistas and characters so expressive you can tell when they're tensing their jaws, I couldn't help thinking how gorgeous the game would be if what was depicted was more varied. There are a few memorable set pieces I won't spoil, but even compared to its predecessor--which led players through tombs, razed towns, haunted woods, chamber halls, and let them face off against giants, a rotting boar, towering stag-headed monsters, and the god of illusions--there is surprisingly little variation in Hellblade 2's settings and monsters." -- Jessica Cogswell [Full review] GamesRadar -- 5/5 "Haunting, confrontational, and deeply cathartic all at once, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is a stunning feat of video game art. Ninja Theory doesn't tiptoe around its heavy themes but welcomes them with well-honed empathy, tempered by an even keener creative edge this time around to deliver an unforgettable narrative adventure experience that's hard to watch, yet harder to turn away from." -- Jasmine Gould-Wilson [Full review] Metro UK -- 5/10 "A joyless slog of barely interactive entertainment and a muddled portrayal of mental illness… that just so happens to have the best graphics ever on a video game console." -- no author byline provided [Full review] Press Start Australia -- 9/10 "Senua's Saga: Hellblade II is the only first-party Xbox game this generation that has screamed, with any confidence, 'next-gen' to me. All at once it’s an audiovisual tour de force, a tremendous next chapter in Senua's battle that strikes many disparate moods, and although it doesn't take enormous swings to reinvent itself, its refinements make Saga a worthwhile successor to Senua's Sacrifice." -- Brodie Gibbons [Full review] Game Informer -- 9/10 "Senua's Saga: Hellblade II's conclusion ends on another strong note, and despite my initial reservations about continuing Senua's story, I walked away happy to see her conquer new monsters, both literal and metaphorical. I'm pleased Ninja Theory avoided the temptation to blow up this formula into something far bigger than needed--this isn't Xbox's God of War; it's a better Hellblade. The first game is a famous example of not needing to be fun in the traditional sense to be engaging. This sequel sprinkles more broadly appealing thrills while retaining the thoughtful storytelling and artistry few triple-A games possess." -- Marcus Stewart [Full review] IGN -- 8/10 "Senua's Saga: Hellblade II is another Viking-worthy feast for the senses that meets the high bar set by its predecessor, even if it never really manages to clear it." -- Tristan Ogilvie [Full review] View the full article
