  1. That's a good idea to make it mate.

Remember though, it's not a definite yet, there's a lot to sort out behind the scenes with this and I don't want to end up disappointing people if we can't get it sorted out.

However, a map concept worked out by our site as whole is a great idea in itself, whether it can be made is a whole other thing....for now :)

  2. @Stop mocking me0 - just custom map makers.

However, I have been speaking to a few of these guys and an idea popped into my head.

We have a lot of concepts on the site, and more and more custom map makers coming here.  I'm going to see if I can get a group of them to agree to make a community designed map.

That map would likely come from a concept, and there would be some polls run to see what the community wants.

That's a very high level idea for now, and is just that, an idea.  But there are some possibilities.

  3. Hey guys, we will be fairly shortly bringing out a new user group.

It will be used for the custom map makers who contribute to our site, and also happen to make custom maps.

Just after some name suggestions -

@Flammenwefer suggested 'Architects' which is pretty awesome in itself, just seeing what else might be out there.

  4. Nice thread mate, I'll check them all out later when I get the chance.

These make more sense if you know who the 4 of us are, and watched some old Bulldog streams.

This is what I play zombies for, and why I played with the guys I did.  There was never a dull moment, and we laughed pretty much non-stop.

First time playing this map, and it takes me a week to learn a map the size of Kino for some reason.

When people say things at the most appropriate moment.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7ZsKLGB8J8

The end of this video sums up Steve and Boysta's personality perfectly.

This is more WTF than funny.

I have to add this one too!
  5. I swear I'm using it wrong, but it's gotten me killed more times than it should have. Maybe if it was on a bigger map I'd do better with it. Apparently Maxis built it, and if it was on Der Riese with Richtofens Wunderwaffe that would be SO cool!

*edit* well after watching this guys video:

it's apparently the best wonder weapon of black op 1 -_-  maybe that's why it's not featured anywhere else ha. I've been playing around with it now, and it is very much like the wunderwaffe, just more ammo and drops power ups. Sorry I know this map has been out for years, but I'm really just now getting to it :)

I have to both agree and disagree with this video.

For high round players running the same loop, the shrink gun is clearly the best for the reasons stated in the video.

But I call high rounds over 50, and for less than that I think the wave gun is better.  For a start it's much better at getting you out of trouble, by using the dual wield single shots.

With the shrink gun, unless you are using semtex as in the high round strategy, or sallies, you aren't going to be able to pick your drops as you are running over them.

Secondly, it takes a fair amount of skill to always shoot all the zombies, and the ones that you miss are the ones that are likely to kill you.

The wave gun is like a guarantee, and using Gersch plus hacker is almost a guaranteed ammo when you need it.

Why it's not in other maps, I don't know.

Maybe they wanted to mix it up.  All I know is that going from the Shrink to the Wave was so much better than going from the Thunder to the Scavenger, it's kinda splitting hairs if you ask me.

  6. Happy birthday to @Covert Gunman

Long term mod, then admin, he kept the site in his mind even during his mission.

Techincally his birthday was yesterday (where I am) but for those guys on the Mid to West Coast US, it still is today.

    Have a good one mate.

  7. BO1 for many reasons.

The engine is much better than the WAW one.

It was the first zombies I played.

    The wonder weapons are brilliant.

The map sizes and layouts lead to many different strategies, and to some really good threads and discussions on here.

BO2 was so disappointing to me but there was Black Ops, still shiny and fun.

The player created challenges on Black Ops are vastly better than the other 2.

However, the only reason that counts and tops them all for me - No Man's Land.

I reckon I have personally played more time on NML than I have on the entirety of BO2 and WAW together.

The value I have gotten from Black Ops is immeasurable to me.

Only other game that comes close in pure value is Skyrim.

  8. @Rissole25 At a very small level it is.  Everyone had kinda topped out, and there was just a group of around 8 players still going for 380 and above.

They all kinda stopped when Steve released his WR video but didn't show the PAP.

Bit of inside knowledge - Steve had that PAP down a good 2 months before even showing that video, and then he didn't actually release the PAP until he got 398.

Once everyone knew about the PAP, those players all started playing again trying to get it down.  It's estimated that you PAP about a 1/3 as often as the traditional method.

It's damn hard really, it's like trying a WR PAP time everytime, or not too far away from that.  Any then collecting 2 hoards in good time with no Jugg is really hard.

It's just all round bad arse.  When you know the average scores that Steve and Mato get, and then the ones that Scottie and Pumpkin get it really blows the mind.

I've lost count of how many 380 plus Steve has gotten.  I'm pretty certain he has shot every number from 360 to 398.

Steve and Mato are far and away the best 2 players I have ever played with or watched.  Relaxing is really good too, and much better than a lot of people think he is but these guys are on an entirely different planet.

Steve in particular has had WRs in every single conceivable 'mode' of zombies, and generally the first to get them.

  9. @the_clay_bird - what you said above is what I've had a problem with from the start.

The inevitable decline of quality due to this being seen as the norm.

As customers become more and more accepting of stuff like this, and more and more docile towards companies that do it, it only going to get worse.

I read something recently that the company that owns Clash of Clans is 10 times bigger than one of the major gaming studios.  I'll try and find the link to this later.

    P2W is where it's going.

It's the reason that I'm only going to buy a console just to play the next COD zombies, and move the rest of my gaming entirely to PC.

There are still some companies that make games for PCs in the right way, although some of the bigger studios are going the same way.

Gaming could be dying as we know it, and the real reason in my mind is the fucking console wars.  When 2 companies spend so much money trying to thwart each other, it can only lead to bad things for everyone.

The Order 1886 for example is literally the worse release I can possibly imagine.....5 hours of game total.  What the actual fuck?

    BtfrVHa.png

  10. It's freaking unbelievable.

I know technically how it's done, having spent hours and hours with Steve and Scottie talking about it.

But this is more impressive than I can possibly say.  It takes an almost perfect game to get to this point.

For reference there are maybe 20 players who have gotten over 360 kills legit, at least as shown on YT.

    Like 6 or 7 people above 370.

    4 people above 380.

    3 people above 390.

    1 person at 400.

  11. I completely agree Grill. I don't know why but it seems an awful lot of threads get derailed recently. You can certainly delete my responses no problem. Edit - I hid everything from Lenne down. If you really have an issue with what Grill suggested, or what I have done please report this post with your feelings. I'd prefer to give users a chance to respond, rather than mass deleting.

  12. This is a really tough one in relation to skype.

There isn't an official skype moderated group.  If I knew that a user on here was really bullying another one via skype, I'd like to discuss it within the staff.

Personally, my first instinct would be to at a minimum have a little chat with the users.

What goes on after that, is anyone's guess.  The issue would be that I can't imagine anyone would agree on the right thing to do.

Whilst I believe you could argue that we can discipline another user for stuff that goes on outside the site, people could argue that we couldn't.

It's a little draconian moderating like that, even if the best intentions are involved.

If a user felt forced to leave the site because of it, that might change my mind on the issue.

I'm not a fan of bullying nor are most people.  It would certainly upset myself and the staff if we knew about it, but whether we can do something about it or not if it happens is very difficult to answer.
