  1. I don't think we are berating him, I just think he was the unfortunate one to make the joke & then for staff to to pick up on the comment and with the way things are it becomes more than what was meant.

As I said above, I don't want him to feel disheartened about it, I understand where he is coming. In fact, if I wasn't staff I would have probably said the same thing (as a joke). We know you are not all stupid, we know that you understand where we are coming from and the financial pressures we face.

We have many students as staff, we have many family staff members well & donating and paying costs is taken money needed for running our families & studying costs.

As for donating and becoming more transparent, I'm with you on that, I think we need to show people as to how much we have received in donations and how much we are away from hitting the donation target for the month. I don't think it will happen but I do a more advanced application in mind for donations which will give us a greater oversight and control.

I also think with the plans for subscriptions, we will have a more in depth idea of what we have available. We are looking to at given more rewards for members that donate and subscribe, so that you receive something for the contributions.

  2. I understand where all the staff are coming from, it's certainly not a good feeling when we are trying our level best to finance the site from our own pockets to keep things alive. Then having these types of comments, no matter how it was intended (I know that it was tounge and cheek, and no malice was intended, we all do) it's still not nice to read.

Don't be disheartened about it Nathan, but just remember we are just as frustrated (even more so) when things don't go as planned.

  3. The more and more I think about this - I can see it being the solution, perma 115 brain count or perma 935 (115 is a bit to close to zero) so brains supplied over and above it would increase it.

  4. Chopper as we discussed in chat, I don't disagree that old members contributed to what made CoDz, it is a completely different system from the previous system. 1 brain now equals 1 brain, 1 brain previously equaled 10. Artificially inflating brains will not work, as when the system recounts and rebuilds it cannot find the posts that the brains were supplied to so it will discount them and put them back to the true figure (i.e. what it see's on the new brains system).

Now, we can check the previous SQL database for the brains that had been supplied & possiblly transfer them all back but not at a 1:10 ratio, 1:1 maybe (and only if we can recover everyone's brains) - otherwise it should be a low percentage. We have 50 people in the list above and I would be happy to visit it with the rest of the staff and members on the best way forward and what is technically possible and what isn't.

Those that assisted CoDz in making it what it is deserve recognition, no doubt about it. What we can't do though, is artificially inflate them to what they were previously - the processes in place to recount/rebuild topics/posts/brains/signatures etc will only look at actual brains supplied in the system as it is now - any artificially inflated brains will be lost as they system cannot tie them into a post and see's them as not actually being supplied.

  5. I've got to be honest, the initial game play trailer looks pretty good, however, so did ghosts and that has had mixed reviews. I'm not much for future settings, it seems to be the norm these day but you never know. It might be a cracking game but I won't buy it for multiplayer that's for sure.

I might buy it if it has a decent campaign and "if" it has another gameplay mode. Will I buy it, probably not but then the games for the One are looking sparse.

  6. I say any and all ideas are plausible until we know otherwise, it could be mutants, it could be a tekken style beat em up (man that would be cool to use the N4 and 04 lol) - I'm not looking forward to this game, I think we are going to get MW4 but MW3 style with no innovation.

I personally don't think that we will get a true next gen CoD until Treyarch release the next game, simply on the premise that they will have had a lot of time with the workings of both the PS4 and Xbox One and will be able to use them to potential and not limited by the game engine (which will no doubt be tweaked even further).

Bring a halo style futuristic game mode - that would be pretty fun, maybe playing as the aliens and defeating the humans (roll reversal).

  7. Actually I need to apologise, I don't frequent future zombies that often and maybe I should because that actually sounds like an interesting map idea - a lot of thought gone into it and it's possible that it may be better suited to a custom zombie map? Why, well if it's a custom zombie map then you have the ability to make it happen and prove that the map is a good idea.

I for one would give a shot when I get WaW and the new PC.

  8. Very true, but the feature is set to notifications off by default upon installation, I can enable them by default by inserting an SQL command to switch it on. This is possibly going to happen and then the member needs to opt out. It is still a beta test though to see how things go.

  9. To be honest, the sql table for the phpbb forum will likely still hold brains supplied to everyone until it crashed. The table is unlikely to have been removed/deleted (although it's possible that it has).

If it is still present, it is possible to supply everyone the brains they had previously - it's a pain staking task but it is achievable if the conditions are right.
