  1. So basically here's how I wanna see this working. I'll start with a hypothetical scenario that goes along the lines of: you get a million dollars, BUT you have to suffer some other weird ridiculous consequence in exchange. Then other people say whether they would take the money, like you have to decide if it would be worth it.an example would be "Million dollars, but you have to cut off one of your own fingers."

anyway, let's see if we can get this rolling. (you can change the reward from one million dollars, that's just a baseline.)

Anyway I'll start with: You get one million dollars, BUT... for the REST OF YOUR LIFE, you can never use the bathroom in your home / work / places you normally stay, and you have to go out to use a public bathroom EVERY TIME. like, this could be a convenience store on the way home from work and it's no big deal, or you might have to get up at 3am as your bowels enter DEFCON 1 and drive to a store. Very inconvenient, but worth $1 million? would you take it?

  2. Just a lil mistake: atomic weight refers to the average sum of the weight of the protons and neutrons, factoring in isotopes for that given atom. So for 115 it would be closer to 230 although we wouldn't know exactly. 115 would be the atomic number, which just refers to the number of protons, which is not a variable number like neutrons.

(If it was just a typo I'm sorry for the mini lesson.)

Still, great read! Buried was such a cliffhanger (well, two) and I'd like to see that world at least END with a bang. Hopefully this re-writing doesn't magically "tie up loose ends" because that's a loose end we really ought to tie up ourselves.

  3. C'mon @LiamFTWinter you know an apple a day keeps the zombie away.

I agree though, apples was just the first thing that came to my mind.

But I mean, their target audience comprises a VAST amount of different people from around the world.  Surely some care about not shoveling garbage into their gobs?

And it's not that I don't like having a junk food snack every once in awhile.  But like, copious bags of Doritos and bottles of Mountain Dew, is that really a way to foster a fanbase?

I dunno just getting philosophical here.  Sorry for the granola rant.

    Preach it brother.

As an american, I am going to disregard your opinion in favor of imagining you dancing in lederhosen on the other side of the mic when we chat.

I really doubt this is going to be Pay-To-Win anyway. They have emphasized through all their interviews that they kept the simplicity of zombies intact. No XP system would break that, so i am assuming it is just going to add versatility to gameplay. It's not really a competitive game anyway, except for grief, so I doubt it will be like "race to level 50 so you can roll into a game invincible on round one." I'm sure the Double XP stuff will let you get stuff faster, but i doubt that the "stuff" that you get will uproot the zombies we know and love. Treyarch themselves said in their recent appearance on that Sony interviews with creators thing that the inspiration for zombies and the core element has always been that Cooperative defense is always the most fun co-op in their opinions. Key word: defense. This has always been a constant in a game where you can't win, but they are definitely not gonna give you a full loadout on round one. I trust that XP, whatever it does / unlocks, will add to the experience without killing the simplicity of it, and won't turn my friends who are higher levels into OP killstealing whores.

  4. 3 and 4 have the same blade but a different hilt. 1 doesn't have the same blade at att. Notice how you can see through it at the top? It's a split blade like a bi-dent style, (think halo energy sword) while the other jagged stone one is a solid piece. That might just not be too visible on 3 because of motion blur, so i can't be sure, but the hilts do look different in 1 and 3 as well.

  5. I don't think it's "confirmed" that the Shadow Man is the announcer. I assumed he was just an additional character with spoken lines. We've had that before with George for example. The zombies have yellow eyes after all. I think it looks like a mix of hell stuff and things known to be in the main dimension (samantha for instance) so I'm thinking it's more of a literal "hell on earth." Like it's in the real world (sam's world) but with hell stuff spilling out into it, to actively "hunt" the characters in their own world.

As for the box itself, we've seen BO3 guns AND WaW guns in players' hands so far. The normal wooden mystery box usually only has a single era's guns primarily. The only 2 boxes with that much diversity thus far are MotD and Origins, so I assume the box will be one of those, or made to look fancy in a new fitting way.

  6. I do really love this idea. Every playthrough would legitimately be unique. And there are so many clever ways they can power up a starting pistol. Even the concept behind M&S is mind blowing. Still, one thing I'm not sure of is altering the base pistol. The Mauser was effectively identical to the 1911 in terms of damage and ammo count, but if you could have (for example) a revolver as a starter, with higher damage but lower ROF and ammo count, or on the other end a burst fire pistol that has more ammo but less damage per bullet. I feel like treyarch would be obligated to pull that kind of thing, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I thiiiink I want it?

  7. Definitely Cliffside / Hazard, had a really fun sniping feel to it without being BS. In BO2 I'd say vertigo, yemen, Hijacked. Sledgehammer remade IW maps so all bets are off. I'm saying remake / rework a large-ish Ghosts map to make it flow better but still be long range focused. 3 lane stonehaven pls?

  8. I am more interested in "Widow's Wine" tbh. To me the name Widow implies that it comes into effect when your teammates are down / dead. Maybe it gives you an adrenalin boost (more health / speed) depending on how many teammates are down. Getting Cranked in a clutch situation would be nice.

As for the pistols, I like seeing new starting pistol upgrade variants. It's cool and original. M&S are always fun, but we've had it for, uh, 10ish maps. If they had a different one every map from now on, I'd be fine with that, as long as the base pistol was only changed aesthetically. (8 round mag, same damage profile, you know.)

  9. I mean I can imagine there being multiple of each part (besides the element core) so two people can have the same alternate buffs but a different element, or a little overlap, or whatever.

  10. What a suspension railway means is this:

normally if you imagine an elevated train track (monorail) you'd just imagine the train riding on top of the tracks like normal, except the tracks (and consequently the train) are high in the air. With a suspension railway, the train is essentially dangling below the track, connected to it by the top of the car.

Anyway, it might not necessarily even be a mobile interactive map feature. You might just have to parkour between delapidated train cars dangling in the air, without actually buying them. Could have just been an example of a location and not a feature. (I don't necessarily believe that, I'm just offering that as a suggestion.)

  11. The TranZit bus was a great idea on paper. Truly it was. Even in practice I've had a load of fun holding it down. It was bad in the sense that it hurt the sense of freedom in zombies. The tank was perfect as you never really HAD to use it, but it was there and it was fun. The bus was TECHNICALLY optional, but the alternative was the annoying as hell fog, lava, and denizens. So it really almost forced you to ride, or at least made it unpleasant not to. This kinda forced it into a linear gameplay style, which goes against how sandboxy zombies is. Was tranZit horrible? Nah, I had lots of fun. But they learned from their experiment with the bus, and if they add something like it, it'll be less game-changing surely.

Can anyone transcribe / post a screenshot in the thread of the description Mocking is talking about?

  12. I agree, it's amazing. Especially what you said about only the element affecting the upgrade quest. Good solution.

Still even if it's as simple as pulling the sword out of the box, I'm hyped, because you have no idea for how long I've wanted a proper melee WW, that actually takes up a weapon slot.

  13. I don't mean like literally the exact specialist system, because every decision you make in zombies affects gameplay, and no external decisions. Consequently a conventional character select or create a class has never been implemented. But still, it seems like a few of the abilities or weapons could work in zombies, albeit implemented in a way more conventional to Zombies. We already saw the girl in SoE do a Grav Spike slam (although it looked more electrical) yet it was more or less the same idea. Do you think the other MP Specialist weapons could fit in zombies? Surely not ALL of them. The Anihilator hand-cannon thing seems a little unnecessary. Then you run into the issue of the Tempest being borderline a WonderWeapon in itself. As it is almost the WunderWaffe.

The Specialist abilities themselves are even more problematic, as it would make sense to make them character specific, yet Treyarch would never do that in Zombies. I'd imagine the weapons could just come out of the box, but maybe there's a new perk that you can buy and cycle through to get a specialist ability? You know, like you can re-buy it and whatever you get over-writes the previous one? To be honest that could be exactly what the Gumballs do, but we can't be sure yet.

Anyway, thoughts? Which abilities / weapons would work, if any? Any ideas for clever ways of implementing them?

  14. Hmm good point, I guess I was thinking more along the lines of staff upgrades, but then there would need to be dozens of upgrade quests for each individual combination. I mean, you could always just PaP it and have a base stat increase, but that's boring. I'll think about it.

  15. So here's a concept I had regarding the swords. I've had this idea for a bit but I think it could actually apply to these swords.

Let's say there are many potential parts you can use to build the swords, but whatever combination you choose affects how you use it. Let's say you can grab either a fast-swinging, high mobility hilt with lower damage, or a high-damage slower one. Then you choose one of several element crystals to use. Let's say electricity has high damage in concentration but fire deals damage over time. Then finally you choose its rechargable power. This can be a redeemer-like effect or a GravSpike effect, among others. So based on these many combinations, you can create a large variety of swords that suits your playstyle. Want a slow but powerful electric sword that can be thrown like a redeemer? No problem. Want a faster fire-based AOE strike sword? Cool cool. That way players could even have the same element in their sword but have it play very differently to the next player's. You would naturally build them, and acquire each part in a unique way, like in Origins. The difference being that you build it how you want.

This might not necessarily be speculative, but I think it would be cool.
  16. That skull and that boss are nothing alike. The Raygun was made by a member of Group 935 named Henry Porter, from plans taken from the rising sun facility and a project started by Maxis. Also that boss looks a lot like a nova crawler mixed with something lovecraftian more than an alien. Can you type in another colour because it is really hard to read?

You're right about the raygun, my bad, don't know what I was mixing that up with. Although I don't think Porter created the original Raygun as he is an American, and he is merely responsible for those variants that adopt his name. (Mk2 and X2.) Also for the record quite a lot of lovecraft's creatures are from space, so alien and lovecraftian are not mutually exclusive. Also sorry about the text, apparantly that's the default on mobile? I'll try to fix it.

I do agree with you @Stop Mocking Me0 asthere are naturally many different interpretations of "hell" or "demons" in real life, and zombies has already acknowledged the more conventional christianside of that. It's interesting to see what other religious / mythological / fictitious elements they are going to pull into the Zombies Canon, as it looks like (hopefully) some degree of lovecraft is working its way in.

By the way I wasn't implying that the skull on the table is literally the skull of the boss, just that it's more or less the same type of creature in an aesthetic sense. It's fiilling in that abomination archetype in the same way a Cthulhu boss would.

  17. Well, two things actually:

I feel like perks are returning obviously, and they wouldn't dramaticaly change the manner in which you get them. But I'm thinking they intentionally DIDN'T show them because they're aesthetically / stylistically very different. Like if for example the machines had the MotD flicker effect, they wouldn't want us seeing that for obvious reasons. Or alternately they could have just made the machines look cooler and they don't wanna spoil it.

Secondly, and on a similar note, they show the brief shot of someone firing the PaP'd AR. In this shot the player is doing a 180 while priming the gun, to turn and fire. My theory is that they literally JUST PaP'd it the second before, and pulled the gun back out (hence the priming) but they cleverly cut out the footage of the player actually looking at the machine. Why? Because it's different in some way? Alternately they could jist be reloading or something, but whatever, it's food for thought.

  18. Cthulu boss anyone?

His skull is on that alter with that ball on so quite possibly yes in the future.

well technically Cthulhu's skull is large enough for a family to live in, but that looks like a smaller version of roughly the same. I think the current boss for SoE is basically supposed to be just that, more or less.

It's interesting that people connected the SoE creatures to Extinction, as those Cryptids aren't actually aliens at all, but ancient subterrainean creatures that existed even before the dinosaurs. Naturally ancient underground advanced species screams Vril, but it's a but different in zombies. Bear in mind that the MPD was on the moon before humans had ever even been into space. People talk about Vril and aliens as if they are one and the same, which they very well could be. I'm not getting into that whole deal now though.

The Raygun is already rumored to be initially invented by Aliens, so we've already seen the American wonderweapon program advancing due to extra-terrestrial influence, although that isn't exactly ancient, although I believe it's the earliest "confirmed" indirect interaction between humans and aliens within the story, apart from the potential Shangri-La ancient aliens. Additionally the MPD could have been on moon for years before it was discovered. There are creatures of Lovecraft that dwell in space of course, although as I said, the zombies universe may merely be paying homage to them aesthetically, without "them" actually being there.

Anyway, I'm really dying to see a shot of a character transforming into the weird tentacle beast power-up from 3rd person. I'll post a few pics of the lovecraftian imagery from the trailer in a moment.

Still, I'm getting a more demonic type vibe than an alien one from Shadows of Evil.

  19. Remember guys, things like the Grandfather Paradox don't exist in the multiverse. If you "change history" you're instantly creating a new timeline. Changing history can involve anything from choosing to wear a black shirt instead of a red one, or murdering your future self. Either way you're creating a new universe more or less. This isn't back to the future / the butterfly effect. When Richtofen kills his older self, he is surely changing the future, but ONLY FOR HIMSELF. The existing timeline doesn't just enstantly get wiped blank. It still exists, and treyarch can choose to continue from the end of buried, the farthest in the future we have yet seen chronologically. However, the origins 4 are creating an alternate version of that same universe ALONGSIDE that timeline, not writing over it. This is the nature of the Multiverse. (So don't worry, it isn't all gone. :p)

  20. I'm 99% sure this is basically going to be a random power-up machine guys. Notice how the first one basically activates Zombie-blood? The second literally spawns a random power-up? The last one causes a mini-nuke to go off? These don't act exactly like normal power-ups, but I'm sure treyarch wouldn't make a "spam me for infinite max ammo" machine. It probably gives you a more brief, yet fancier power-up alternative on command.
