Before I go into this nothing has been confirmed as of yet for clans in black ops 2:

In MW3 you had to be a premium member to earn CLAN XP. If a member was joining their first clan then they would gain an extra 500XP towards that clan & as Lenne said clan operations such as highest amount of kills, most flags captured most grenade kills etc. Clan challenges also gain XP.

Saying that though, that was MW3. For Black Ops 2 I'm presuming all members will be able to earn clan XP by doing clan operations/challenges, this is where each member attempts to get as much (or as little) as something as they can, all members' scores are added then the clan at the top wins extra XP! The more XP the more the Clan will level up meaning PRIZES :D such as a emblem creator, background additions, upgrades to the clan etc.

For zombies (if clans are apart of it) will probably take the statistics that the clan earns overall and ranks the clan. There could possibly be some clan zombie challenges where the clan has to reach a certain goal before the time is out. This could be based on the size of the clan.

Although ATM NOTHING has been confirmed in anyway towards how clans are going to work within black ops 2 so we may have to wait for a while... hope this helped slightly. :)
