  1. Hello! My names Rick, or gfn21. I've played COD Zombies for years, (as well as A LOT of other games) but I had no idea this awesome website existed. A few questions:

Welcome aboard Rick, nice to have you around.

1.) Is there anything about the website I should be aware of?

Yip, @GRILL is really a girl VRILL, he'll deny it (I mean she'll deny it) but we all know otherwise :D @PINNAZ is creator of the zombie library an immense collection of information.

2.) Does anyone want to play a round of Zombies, sometime? (If so, feel free to add me)

Sure, not playing it much at the moment, zombied out just now (well, not really, still playing exo's now and again).

3.) What is everybody thinking about the presentation from the DICE Summit 2015? I'm not sure if it's

just me having a lot of hope or what, but it seems like they are hinting at a remake of all the old

maps for the current generation of consoles... perhaps even a zombies only game? That would be

absolutely amazing, to have an entire game dedicated to Zombies. A zombies campaign would be

incredibly interesting, actually seeing/playing the moments we know happened, like Richtofen losing his

sanity or the death of Sam. Having cutscenes to let the important moments shine would be excellent.                                                                      Plus having all the maps redone on a new engine, and maybe even a map creator?

It was an interesting presentation, we just need to digest all the information and see what else is thrown our way.

But then again, that's probably just wishful thinking. I can't wait to meet everyone here and start talking about the game we all love so much.

We just need to wait and see what they have in store for us, they know we want them remastered and on the next gen consoles - just a case of wait and see. Thanks for the intro.

  2. Wow, theres some strong opinions on this subject. Personally I don't think that jumping into a glitch to take a wee or grab a bag of crisps or something is anything to frown upon.

However (and I'm just playing devils advocate here) would it be considered ok for me to jump into a glitch 2 minutes into a ranked play match because someone it at the door? Would this be an IRL issue effecting my game in the same manner. I appreciate that multiplayer doesn't have a pause feature, but neither does Exo-Zombies.

Like I said, personally I don't see it as an issue, I just like stirring the pot.

If you were to review someones gameplay and you saw a 2 min rest-bite every 3-4 rounds, always at the end of rounds where zombies are no real threat, its pretty clear thats a break for a 'piss n a pancake' or whatever. Its clear when there is and isn't an intent to exploit the flaws in a game.

I understand the glitch due to no pause feature, but if you need to go and do something in the middle of a game, in all honesty take the down if co-op or take the death as a solo game. As was said earlier, the new puase option and records should and could have been treated as speed runs.

Whether Sledgehammer intentionally left it out or it was a genuine "mistake" is irrelevant in the whole debate - what is relevant is it doesn't have a pause function and breaking game mechanics to take advantage of a feature the game "should" have but doesn't have is basically cheating (when you boil down to the nitty gritty of it).

I just sincerely hope that the records that have been submitted whilst using the glitch are removed, I somehow doubt that they will.

  3. Don't get me wrong Milo, those sites are the "standard" so to speak, not so much zombie legends as that hasn't had enough time to set any standards yet. Actually zombielegends wouldn't have existed if the community had embraced the leaderboard that we had offered to them for free and they would simply monitor it to themselves. However, that's a different story and another reason why I believe the high round community is toxic. Not out of bitterness or anything like that but of disappointment.

Anyway, yeah our leaderboards are under used, not embraced by the high round community (some did, some didn't) - most thought we were after something, when it was just an offer of a lending hand. However, after a chat with the team and with Frenzy, Sithbas it's actually better that we didn't do a records leaderboard and that we do a CoDz leaderboard which is not a "official" world records leaderboard, more of a place for members to put their rounds into. To be fair, the rules need to be amended.

You are of course more than welcome to add any score onto the leaderboard and we would encourage you and any other member to do the same.

  4. And no, I don't care if 'everyone is doing it' or who they are or what they have done in the past, legitimate or otherwise. That doesn’t necessarily mean the person using the glitch is not a great zombies player or doesn’t have skill it just mean they can’t claim a legitimate world record.

They can't claim one in your opinion, but in my opinion they can, and there's nowt wrong with it seeing as they ARE legit on the record sites. If someone gets into the Guinness World Records for doing something, but YOU think they don't actually have a World Record, that person DOES still have a legitimate world record. It's just one that YOU don't support. The majority of people do, though.

I would just like to point out, that the rules of those sites have been setup by zombierecords.net - probably a few of them copied over onto zombielegends.net and a few tweeks and new rules added. The rules for the records have been set by those people that are making the high rounds and could in theory set them to meet their own agenda.

It doesn't necessarily mean those rules are the be all an end all, just rules that the high round community may have had input on but generally speaking set by those that own the sites (Sithbas & Frenzy). That doesn't mean the rules are perfect, they are pretty much what the high round community are using.

An example of this, is the rules on CoDz leaderboard (for any member to submit, which is an active database and positions automatic based on round achieved with no manual intervention really needed after it is submitted and approved). Can be found on the following link.

    http://www.callofdutyzombies.com/forum/index.php/page/CoDz%20Leaderboard/the_rules.html

Map specific information points out no glitching is allowed.

  5. Actually, it reminds me of MW2 and boosters. I used to run around looking for players camping and boosting to get the nuke, I would hide and wait for them to get 23/24 kills and go in and destroy them. They would go elsewhere and hide and do the same and I would do the same, boosting annoyed me and glitching annoys me.

I can't tell how many times I've played zombies with randoms (4 player) and 1 goes into a wall glitch and you have 3 players playing an honest decent game, ruined by 1.

  6. @MrRoflWaffles pretty much, I'm an old skool gamer before "glitching" was a thing. You have people that go out to buy a game not to play it but to be the first person to find a glitch with a game and within 24hrs of it's release, glitches are posted all over youtube.

I'm a firm believer of using the enviroment of a game and the abilities that are available within the game to your advantage, if that includes a pause button, excellent. If it doesn't tough shit.

When I play with the mates and so forth, I'll regularly say "right lads, I'm going to go for a quick piss, make a coffee and have a smoke, will you look after the zombie for a bit and on my return I'll do the same for you" or vice versa. That's using the mechanics to your advantage. Jumping into a wall or invincibility glitch to get an advantage is not using the mechanics or abilities put into the game to your advantage - it's glitching period and shouldn't constitute a legitimate game.

If you want to go for a high round game and you want to get a record, you do exactly what you do in zombies, you set yourself up for a high round (if this means no drinking for a few hours before playing, so be it). I've always admired players that have got personal achievements / high rounds in a game by the old fashioned means of "playing it as intended/designed".

I've come to the conclusion recently that the high round community (some not all) will set up the rules to meet there own agenda and I just firmly believe that any sort of glitching shouldn't be allowed (I don't include camping in that, camping is a strategy, just as much as training is) - it's just that one requires more skill than the other.

  7. High round community in my humble and honest opinion, is toxic with a capital T. We put a records section together not long ago and it's still available because I understood at the time the community needed somewhere to post high rounds because zombierecords.net was an issue.

I understood some of the rules set out on ZR was also an issue and to be honest, I have chatted with Sithbas and he's a decent guy. I don't know him that well but I just misunderstood the whole situation as a whole. I'm not sure how you haven't heard of zombierecords.net Milo as it's been around for a few years - zombielegends has been setup by Frenzy and was only registered in December 2014 (3 months old) ZR has been going since August 2012. ssues exist which I will not go into here, but it's safe to say that the domain was registered as a result of people not wanting to use the records system we setup or use zombierecords for whatever reason.

It appears to be that if you are not in that "group" you are not a decent high rounder. I know some of the players that have really good high rounds but is not classified as a "high rounder" that's just nonsense.

Anyone is welcome to post a record here, whether it be round 5 or round 205 - we are not a world record database but a database where people can post their own scores and have bragging rights with other members - anyway I'm of on a tangent and I didn't mean too.

Records to me are legitimate in one way, the game is played in way that it was developed, with the game mechanics that were designed by the studio, not using any glitches or exploits. I don't consider the astronaut being locked on the other side of the excavator glitching, clever us of the enviroment as @Chopper mentioned earlier. I do consider taken advantage of invincibility glitches, wall glitches, and so forth as illegitimate high rounds (no matter how good you are, or how bad you are).

With AW they designed the game with no pause function, in my opinion I can understand the need for a bathroom break I can understand using the glitches for a pause (as long as it doesn't unduly influence the game) - however. That's my politically correct, CoDz admin diplomatic response.

My own personal response, glitching at any stage doesn't constitute a high round and should not be submitted or allowed on a ranking leaderboard - period.

  8. I'm with @Chopper @GRILL on this one, micro DLC is bad for gaming. It makes them think we are the next biggest entertainment forum after Hollywood, if not bigger than Hollywood and we'll charge whatever we want to charge for the game and then add more into the game for you to buy which we could have supplied with the game.

It was only a few years ago, that games got released with the DLC on the bloody disc you bought and they charge you to unlock the DLC.

The thing is, most people accept it and purchase in game content, after paying £50 ($85) for the game and then a further £35 ($50) for the DLC season pass. On top of that we get sub standard games, with game breaking glitches, so what do the studios and publishers do? They give us micro DLC rather than fix the broken games.

I don't car what studio it is, I don't care what publisher it is (Activision are the worst though) just give us a game that actually works, has been beta tested / stressed tested and has dedicated bloody servers.

  9.

So hypothetically. Let's say I were to make a zombies concept based on speculation about what the next zombies map "might" be like. Would that be considered zombie labs or research since the map is made using hints and info treyarch has dropped for us?

I'll be honest, it seems more like it would fit in the Labs, as it is one main thing: A CONCEPT. I don't see why we're arguing over it anyways. That "concept" could always be wrong. R&D would be more theory-wise. That specifically lays under Concepts, though. So Zombie Labs.

It's a concept map based on hints dropped, so it's a Research and Development topic.

Zombie labs, is about neat ideas for a map you have come up with but not using hints on upcoming maps - it would be moved to R&D if it was posted in ZL.

  10. We wanted to share a wee bit more with you on the new update, this time showing you a larger image of a full page in working order. This page you can already see under the frontpage / maps but it's about integration into the site rather than being seperate entities.

You'll notice from this, the main menu and the links and you'll also see the user navigation (although this will be slightly different when launched, due to additional items being added).

Anyway, the main maps page for World at War and how it looks on the new site.

  11. I'm a firm believer that glitching is what it is, however, going for a high round that takes 2, 3, 4 or more days certainly requires people to take a break (as long as that break does not unduly influence the game and the intended mechanics). In saying that, I also consider a high round to be something that has been achieved through hard work, using the game as it is intended and without glitching.

It's something that certainly has the community divided.

  12. I know that, but I am asking why its so interesting all of the sudden and he just posts like a gif instead of a reply.

It's interesting people as they believe/understand have figured out that the next zombies is arcing from what we know and are revisiting things previously discussed without resolution. Now they are having a fresh look and a fresh thought process is making things a little clearer to understand.

You don't need to understand, you just need to let people get on with a discussion. They are theorist and they are pretty good at what they do.

  13. Snip

    Sometimes

    Quote spolier

@MrRoflWaffles, never! Joking sometimes I don't notice that I have quoted such a long post.

@RADAUSTIN27 I think that a couple of things you missed out are the background behind the table being snow covered, the book itself and the skull. Also the TV dials are not anything of note aside from the fact all TVs are like that from the 50s to 60s as pointed out by claybird.34 secrets by the way lol :P

I think that the things of note can be grouped up as such but this is just my opinion:

1.) Picture of a new weapon in a chalk drawing and seemingly new setting.

2.) Old maps loading screens being revised- hinting at a remake of at least Shangri La, Call of the Dead and Der Riese. Maybe Moon considering the advert pages appearance.

3.) The wooden surface that all of this is on, which itself is on a ground that is almost blue and has snow, possibly Origins? Or another new location?

4.) The objects on the table. The strange skull, the blue 115 meteor, the stone meteor rock and bottle caps.

5.) A piece of paper with afterlife drawings and diagrams of a skull, is MotD in a parallel universe or just a slither of the loop that is also a loop?

6.) Richtofen being erased from Origins. First he is scratched out in the image of the first teaser, then the crossed out version is assumed to be him when in fact it is actually Dempsey due to Treyarch using that image as well.

7.) Vietnam text at the bottom of the page.

    8.) October 2nd 1962

    9.) New 935 symbol.

10.) Order of loading screens that lead up to the ? chalk gun image. Release dates maybe or its a rough timeline like you said.

11.) Blueprints for things. Shangri La related and also other maps but all have the 935 stamp.

12.) A picture of the MotD Zombies, including Brutus and an image of Verruckt- references to the past.

13.) A photograph, like the question mark weapon one, of Der Riese and Die Rise on the same page as the Brutus one.

14.) The book most of this is written in.

15.) A little note near the eye symbols and skull picture, unreadable at the moment but there.

16.) Brain and heart image... interesting considering a book I read once.

    17.) A 60s TV

18.) Markings on pages- could be Sam and Eddy or its poking fun at the AW controller controversy? I don't know.

    19.) #thatsifwehaventstartedalready etc

These are my ideas of the numbering and such, didn't want to steal your thing Rad but its such a good idea to recap like this. I hope to hear from people on their thoughts and maybe we can merge the lists and get them in the OP?

Especially when a long post is being quoted and you want to retain the contents of the quote - but yeah snipping is etiquette.

  14. Sounds to me that the battery hasn't been placed and the first step hasn't been initiated. What are you playing it on the Xbox One or the 360? Have you google the problem or looked on the ATV forums / Sledgehammer forums?

  15. The thing is, it should run itself - it shouldn't need "much" back end stuff to be done. Occassionally running cleanup tools on the database, optimization code where and when possible and keeping things upto date and so forth. Downtime should really be a thing that has been put the kerb but occassionally gremlins occur and today was a gremlin in a routine procedure, We would have been back a hell of a lot quicker

However, as I was at work and in meetings throughout the day, I had to ask the host to repair the table via shell (command line).

If I had the time today, I would have fixed it straight after it had occurred but sods law.

  16. Sorry folk's, I've tried to minimise this as much as possible over the year, unfortunately today could have been avoided.

Basically routine maintenance on the database was performed (repairing and optimizing tables with overhead) - when processing the posts table the table crashed. Due to the amount of posts and my limited time throughout today, we only came back an hour ago but had to wait til I got home.

Sorry folk's, routine maintenance caused the problem, shouldn't happen again.

  17. Just a quick heads up, beta 7 was released today for the new suite - they wanted to get it out so the "power" users could get at it and find stuff over the weekend. Why?

They are looking at releasing the "release candidate" on Tuesday (10th February). What is a release candidate? It basically means that if we wanted too, we could upgrade to the new suite on Tuesday, it means we wouldn't be running under a beta system and it would be officially supported.

So what does it mean for CoDz, it means "if" everything is working well and we have everything we need to switch, then no reason will exist to leave it much longer before switching. However, as it currently stands, the APPS don't exist for the new suite that we currently have, So things such as the donation sidebar, User of the month sidebar, awards/medals system have not been upgraded. We still don't have timescales for these, so we might need to wait a bit or we might switch and deal with the fact these are not available at launch.

Anyway, we are getting closer folk's, the reveal will happen before Treyarchs reveal of CoDz (or will it)?
