kudos to anyone who reads all of that.

Haha! So true. But some folk love reading and ideas. Did you make it through the walls of text?

Even 3 pages deep in this forum, the view count kept going up. But that might just be the click-bait title and 'map' tag.

I also wish that it was better organized, but I'm not, so how could it be?

I've found myself hanging out right outside of Ol' Rubys Rabbit. Fun place to kite the Zombies, shield is right there when you need it, and since I don't run using Q.R. I can easily access the C.P. whenever he drops dead.

With your loads, i found that real easy. Now, the loads drag out a little, so it's still fun there, but requires some more reverses than before.

Also, sometimes when I play survival-map style, I leave the $1250 Door and Ruby Rabbit closed there for fast loads.

Even just leaving RR closed speeds up the loads, with none loading upstairs. (I often play my "WaWbagger, the infinitely prolonged" survival map like this).

Another good spot is the alley in Waterfront leading to the Rift. One person watch the Window, preferably using "Turned". The other 3 watch straight ahead, "Apothicon Servant", "Turned", "Blast Furnace", & "Lil Arnies" recommended.

I've thought of this a few times. What's great about it is the Rift; you have an escape if needed, and no zombies will come through normally*. If you get overrun and lose someone, you can go to Subway, reload et cetera, then go back through  the Rift and it will clear a space, then fire AS or throw LA to regain control, revive players. Then they can jump through the Rift and head to perks, or resume camping until safe to do so.

*(solo, zombies follow you through a Rift, but with 2 or more players, zombies run up through the Subway steps, or simply respawn, they don't follow you through a Rift. Unless this changed recently).

Window guy probably should have AS. I love the 'turned' idea for window watching (and camping, in general).

Also, call in the CP since the switch is right there.

It's a shame that Trip Mines destroy your shield, but maybe that doesn't happen to another player, so you could throw your Trip Mine/BB at their feet for protection.

Feedback on Trip Mines versus other players' shields welcome.

  3. Earlier posts are getting too crowded, so i made another. Much has been added to previous posts, may be fun to read even if you don't play my odd maps and games.

    ###########################

Nacht Der Untoten style: Build Your Own NDU.

Rules: No Beast. You may open 3 Doors maximum and they must lead to the box. If the box moves and you have no 'Door credit' left, you can not get to it and must use pods and wallbuys only.

Note that, if the box spawns at the perk area of Footlight, or the Fuse area of Waterfront, you can not reach it and must rely on pods and wallbuys (or allow 1 time Beast for FL Steps, or 4th door opened for WF, only in this instance).

Note that, if the Tram has been reached, you may ride it to other districts, for wallbuys, including Trip Mine, and possible box locations in Footlight and Canal.

    Maps will vary.

    Short, manly games.

    ###########################

    Old's Cool Map: "Unmazing's Grace".

This map reflects a path that I sometimes run, cemented into it's own map, with a camp and move strategy.

Strict Old's Cool mode (see post 1) with specific openings.

    Open Junction $500 Door.

Open Canal and Footlight $1000 Doors, and drop the steps.

    Open Canal and Footlight Rifts.

    Open Subway-Junction Beast Door.

[You may open Waterfront and it's steps, only if Juggernog is in Waterfront, otherwise Waterfront is banned. If you open Waterfront, then Footlight is banned. In this case, open the Rift in Waterfront in lieu of Footlight].

Perks allowed, if available: Juggernog, Stamin-Up, Speed Cola, Widow's Wine, Double Tap 2, Mule Kick.

Traps in Footlight, and Canal active (possibly Waterfront, with Juggernog).

    GobbleGum available.

This map lacks PaP, B Knife, Apothicon Servant, Shield. May or may not have box locations, box may leave.

Basic strategy: Walk straight into Canal to the second arch (street light 360) just past the Fancy Grind. Stand your ground there, facing Junction. When backed up the stairs by the Molly's Cream Cakes cart, head into the water of the canal, through the Rift, across the Subway, through the Rift to Footlight, then back to Canal, and stand your ground again.

Repeat as needed, fight and use traps as you move.

(Note that this path could be used in any game mode where the areas are available).

    Optional: allow Quick Revive solo.

Optional: open $1250 Canal Door for Shield. Allow all 3 district perk areas open for perks and Shield parts.

Optional: open workbench area of choice to construct Apothicon Servant. Or combine with Shield option above, and take the Tram to construct the Apothicon Servant.

Optional: play SoE normally, but run this path for camp and move strategy.

    ###########################

Old's Cool ideas (and possibly for other maps).

To further shorten games, one could ban the mystery box. Only allow wall guns (and pods?).

In some small Old's Cool builds, you could specifically avoid opening an area that contains the box. Use this as a construction restriction.

Box Only: with this option, only guns purchased from the box are allowed. Wallbuys and pods would be banned.

Random only: Mystery Box and Pod Guns are the only options.

    ###########################

Game Mode: "How to Conduct Yourself". (Loosely based off of the 'Train Challenge' of the challenge thread).

Plays like normal SoE with these exceptions: after Round 5, you may only kill zombies on the Tram, and the upstairs of the Tram stations. You may only use the Bloodhound and Bootlegger. You can buy any perk except Mule Kick, any GG except Perkaholic. You may PaP. You may build and use Shield. Apothicon Servant is banned. You may use the Tram.

    Good luck with Margwa...

    ###########################

    Old's Cool build: Quarantine.

Use Old's Cool restrictions of choice, suit to taste (From post 1).

Basic idea: pick a district to be quarantined. You could choose any district, or you could decide that the district with Speed Cola is Quarantined (it's an easy choice since it tends to get passed over) or pick one at random before the game, whatever makes you happy with your choice.

That chosen district is quarantined and must remain completely sealed. You may not go there by Tram either.

2 full districts, junction (Nero's), and Subway are available. Most perks available. AS available. All but 2 Box Locations are available.

No shield, no pap, no CP.

    #############################

OS Map 4: "Tramzportation" build, only with Full Power (No Old's Cool restrictions). Only the 'Tramzportation' restrictive opening of only 1 ($1000) Door is in effect, as well as other Door/Step restrictions.

    °°°

    Pro Map: "Y Be Mad".

Beast activate the Perk area Steps in each district.

Open all Beast Doors to Rifts, activate Rifts.

    Open Beast Door Subway-Junction.

Open all Ritual Locations and PaP.

Open only these $Doors: Easy Street-Junction ($500), Junction-Footlight ($1000), each ($1250) Door between Perks and Tram of each District.

    !!!

So the Junction Doors of Waterfront and Canal are closed.

The ($1250) Doors of each district remain closed, except the Fuse area ($1250) Doors, between Perk and Tram.

The ($1000) Barriers all remain closed.

    !!!

That's it. Subway Rifts take you to the near side of districts, Tram takes you to the far side of the Districts, and you can take the dangerous foot route across any District through the Perk area.

Use care training with other players.

This is just a higher difficulty SoE for those who enjoy suffering.

°°°(Like Post 8 "El Diablo", but with all Rifts open. Easier).

    #############################

    Happy Gaming!

  4. On the 'time spent on zombies'.

The community keeps saying 'they had 3 years', but official things that i read said that Treyarch would start on bo3 at the end of 2014, and have the usual year. Meanwhile, they worked on ports and other stuff.

I have no doubts that some involved spent even their own time working on it in the interim, but generally, they only had the typical year.

Unless I've really misremembered, or misread something.

It's still a shame that it's so glitchy.

Feel free to link me better info if I'm wrong.

    ----------

On topic: i swear that i had fast boards one game, but never saw that again.

A couple days back, i held a zombie at a window where it couldn't hurt me, and after a while, my character said something, but the boards seemed to fix at the same rate.

  5. Speed Train/Tram Tips:

As you run up the steps to the Tram, note that the Tram always leaves in a 180° direction from the direction that you ran up the steps. With this in mind, you will always run to the correct end of the Tram car, where the controls will be active.

    --

If being chased, immediately activate the Tram, as you can always change the destination before you pass through Junction. Start Tram, then pick destination on the go.

    --

Missed first symbol? Save $500 with this tip: call the Tram to a different station, ride it back.

Example (from experience): i often ride Waterfront>Footlight>Canal for the sword symbols. Sometimes, i miss the Waterfront symbol as the Tram rides off, because I'm a derplord.

So, I'll watch for the Footlight symbol, then get off at Footlight, run to Canal, call Tram, ride it from Canal to Waterfront to get the other 2 symbols, and still only spend $1000, like i would have if i hadn't missed the symbol.

    Happy training!

    ------

Edit: From Nieno69's post below ↓ (post 85).

With 2 or more players, have 1 player get on the Tram, have another player call it from another location, then ride it from there to the third location.

This will get your team all 3 Sword symbols for $500.

  6. Anvil: you do have those crazy speed loads. I have no issue training in the anvil, they all climb in the ring, climb out of the ring, ad infinitum, as i loop it.

When the game was new, the Rift (Subway) was my go to, but then i found Junction to be more fun, but not super easy. By now, I've gotten sick of getting stuck on random glitches in the Subway. I usually do junction+canal, Ruby Rabbit, or Black lace until i get Fisty, then it doesn't matter where you go.

If i go to Rift/Subway, i usually run in the pap room by the altar now.

Hahaha, I always say "Tram" to that's the funny part. I don't even know why I said "Train".

I called you out on Tram Station, because you called it 'the balcony of the theater': at first i thought you meant the stage in the theater, then i was like, 'wait, he means train/tram station by that, i think...'.

    ----

Exactice_808: I've had my share of fun in Nero's as well. All of the ritual locations are fairly easy to run.

I think the Black Lace wins on level of easy, it even has a margwa training course out front. Zombies inside, margwas outside. Ha.

    ------

Overall, i train or camp in all different spots, i love variety.

I agree, I just wish you could've gotten a picture. Even if you do like me and use your cellphone. You can get a pretty decent image from that.

Yeah. I should have and i knew it.

But it was the wee hours, my attachment quota is nearly full, and a pic of a white pod wouldn't do much really to help us, and I'd have to supply a regular pod pic (360) for comparison.

Despite the reasons not to take it, i should have anyway.

I like to camp on the Balcony of the Theater in Footlight. Leave the Train gate closed, could be used for a quick getaway. Doing this forces all the Zombies to Spawn in front of you, coming from a window and the stairs.

You mean the Tram station, right?

They are surprisingly easy to train in. I've seen a few folk using that as a team method; camp the tram, ride away when overrun. If a player goes down, start tram, use AS or BF Ammo to clear the tram, revive player, resume camp at next locale.

Canal Tram is a bit tight.

Bring the topic back again....I think there are perma perks

    Anyone can confirm?

Edit: i will look for it in the theater tommorrow if the game is there

And you didn't have Perkaholic, which includes Quick Revive, did you?

    ------------

I've also had the widow's wine glitch through several downs in one game.

    ------

Also on perks glitching: i had the robot revive me, he bought me a QR, i bought SU, then, when i bought Juggernog, QR and SU vanished. I bought 3 more perks to make sure the qr and su were gone, not just invisible.

Did it count again after you get to 0?

I'm unsure of what you are asking. It stayed at zero until the sword timed out. I didn't think to look to see if it was at 10 again, when i used it again. Did one of those answer the question?

    10 hours ago, Ragdo11706 said:

    @83457

When you got it to 0/0, were the 0 (Red). If so I've done this before myself, just never noticed the PODs. I'm not sure what you mean by white glow, I think in know what your saying.

I think the zeros were red, now that you mention it, but i can't swear by it. I'll look next time.

The ridges of the pods were whitish, instead of dark. The small ones looked like brains.

    -----

Until this gets repeated, it's just noteworthy, but just like 'new visual effect?' thread, I'll figure it out eventually.

I've played quite a bit and this is the only time that i saw that effect, and the only time i hit 0/0 on the sword, so I'm assuming causation by correlation. But it may be the Altar kills, or maybe even stabbing flyers with widow's wine....shrug. I just figured i would get this out there for more eyes on it.

Could you explain a little more?

    Whats the pod gun?

    Whats bb kills?

    Tried the flying sword? (L2)

Beast mode eat them (r2) ...

Make the game Black& White ?

Another question: are there Teddys in soe? Where?

    Yes.

Any gun that spawns in a pod is a pod gun. It just needs to be a gun, so i could trade the AS for it, as opposed to an x2, or instakill, et cetera.

BB = Bouncing Betty, the name of the upgraded Trip Mines, when they are on the ground ("hold x to pick up Bouncing Betty").

    Tried sword functions.

    Tried beast functions.

Didn't try Noire mode. It's iffy on 360. It makes things greyed out a little, full color for a few seconds on each 'dog' round, then back to greyish. Rather depressing.

Yes, there are 6(?) Teddy's. I am unfamiliar with their locations. Not sure that they are on 360.

    -----------

I want to try 'In Plain Sight' GG, and see if any light up orange, like origins/zombie blood.

There is a video of an xbone player with a 'golden pod' which looks open, in the subway car by the Maxis audio cue. If this is repeatable/not a visual glitch, i will check that pod. Trade AS here?

I need to check all pods, ritual locations, cocoon spots.

Unfortunately, my buddy came over and was waiting for me to die so we could play Extinction, so i didn't look around very much. The game was supposed to be a fast high round game, but i did the sword head counter, which gave me deaths, then i was investigating the new color scheme of pods. Then, I was dead on 45, not nearly my best.

At least he witnessed the pod color change.

  14. ----Widow's Wine Perk----

If you stab a zombie or flyer, it gets stopped and chewed on by spiders. This effect overrides instakill if it triggers, this web effect won't happen continuously, it has a short reset timer before you'll get the effect from a stab again. You can be out of 'charges' and it will work, it does not use a charge for this.

Note that the regular knife (not BK) does more damage if you have W'sW.

Your grenades act like charges for the perk. Getting spider drops from WW kills replenishes these charges on a 1 for 1 basis (maybe a couple charges?). You get 4 when you buy the perk, and grenades normally replenish at the rate of 2 per round.

Getting hit triggers the charge, as does simply throwing a grenade (semtex-like). Flyer hits don't trigger the charge.

If you gather enough spider drops, they change red (xbone) or get black spider symbols (360: Now red tinted).

I'm currently unsure what red drops do.

Ragdoll says that it causes the zombies heads to explode when they hit you, if i understood correctly. I have not seen this effect on 360. I feel it may give more charges, or be more powerful, but it's not clear.

    --------

Tips: to keep the last zombie alive while you do stuff, you may throw your grenades away to stop the effect should you get hit.

You can stab a zombie to get the spiderweb effect and gain a moment's peace for box hits (or something else).

If you are out of 'charges', you can try to stab a zombie for the spider effect. Then he may drop a Spider Drop to replenish a charge (or more?).

You can walk into a zombie crowd, the first hit will stop most of them, get hit 1-2 more times (with Juggernog) and then fire the Apothicon Servant and collect the Spider drops/repeat.

You can use Blast Furnace, then pull out a WW Semtex and hold it as the zombies burn and it will turn to WW effect and likely will drop spider drops.

Opinions: Varied, from "it's useless", to "it's okay at times, but annoying", to " OMG, it's a life saver".

You may want to avoid W'sW during early set up to avoid killing the last zombies.

Find it's value in your playstyle and treat it accordingly. But don't expect everyone's opinions to reflect your own.

    --------

Edit: If you have the Bowie Knife and get W'sW, your knife visually returns to standard knife. If you get the BK after W'sW, it will appear as the BK. I believe it is only a visual glitch, no effect, but I'll keep an eye on it.

Edit: This last bit changed in a February patch: now, your camo'd BK turns basic silver when you buy W'sW, but stays the BK.

  15. After testing, I'm fairly certain that instead of red spider drops, 360 gets black spider symbols on the spider drops after a while.

Quick upgrade method: get WW perk, gather a train into a group, walk into center of group. You'll get hit 2-3 times and the whole crowd will be webbed. Fire AS at ground, grab the spider swarm, repeat.

Those are in fact, "HandCuffs" broski.

They are handcuffs. I thought you guys were being facetious.

Why do broken purple handcuffs appear on the Black Lace Altar after a couple of ritual items are picked up?

    Officially weird.

    ---------

So i got the sword counter to zero. Then i had glowing white pods (all pods). Presumably related.

    What next?

Zombie blood (in plain sight) and look at the pods, like origins?

    Trade AS for pod gun?

I tried BB kills, AS shots, opening some, using the sword by them.

Ideas welcome on both subjects: handcuffs and brain pods.

  17. No theater, 360. (I would need a pic of the 360 white one, and a regular 360 pod to compare).

I almost grabbed a pic, but my attachment allotment here is almost up, and a picture of a whitish pod wouldn't really help us. If my word isn't credible by now on this site, pics wouldn't be anymore believable.

They definitely were golden/white, i even started another game after, just to compare what the pods normally look like.

Also, they pulsed slightly, most noticeable on the pods that were growing back, and the full grown ones.

The whitish was almost golden on the ribbing, but the main look was dull whitish, and gave the look of brains.

I assume it's the 'reward' for getting 10 headshots, but now what do I do?

Edit: i know another description may not help, but i want you to know that i checked this thoroughly.

Example: looking at the lone pod on easy street (360), the reddish color of the top of the pod blends in with the brick wall behind it when viewed from 20 feet away in junction. When i tried this view with the white pods, the pod clearly stood out from the wall.

Of course, it may be a glitch. I plan to repeat it asap, but i wanted to bring it to the community asap also.

  18. Okay. I got the sword counter to zero. It's a matter of just holding the sword aimed at a specific level to keep getting headshots. It's still not easy, cost me 2 downs, and i did it in the mid thirties.

Later, i noticed all of the pods in the game glowed whitish. They looked like brains and pulsed slightly. If i opened any, even the new pod that grew looked like this.

Not sure what to do next.

    ---------------------

Other info: after getting the head counter, but before noticing the pods, i tried sword-stabbing the cthulu statue. I tried to pap the AS. No effect on either.

Other things that i did that may or may not matter: killed hordes at each altar with AS (and occasional sword, trip mine [D-O], blast furnace, and turned kills).

Edit: i also had widow's wine, so i kept letting groups hit me, then i would AS them and grab the spider drops and repeat./edit.

    Knifed flyers with Widow's Wine.

Lead each group of keepers to each ritual site, did ritual. Keeper side note: the subway ones won't transmogrify if you bring them to a ritual, they also don't trigger any shadowman quotes. For example: any other killed keeper group makes SM say 'they will keep coming', or 'they are our true enemies' the first time that you kill a group.

Trip mines upgraded by Devil-O, i made sure to get kills at each Molly's Cream Cakes carts after, which had no visible effect nor audio cue still, but i like to try things several times due to inCODsistency.

I threw ww grenades at 2 of the 3 train symbols.

After pods changed, 2 gave man-o'-war, the others gave drops. Oddly there was no shield tanks given.

I had perkaholic, AS (LZ), RG pap, Dingo pap (bf, then turned, then bf), Trip mine D-O, regular shield, no Margwa mask, upgraded sword of course. No Arnie (mean old box).

I did eggs and rituals all willy-nilly, with no relation to what character i was, just whatever ritual was open.

Now what? What do i do with brain pods? Give them my AS? I've tried that with regular pods for no profit. I didn't want to give Fisty away in the 40 rounds...

  19. On 'no X':

Try this: after you pick up the last ritual item, but before you place the last one, look at inventory and allow the flashing icon to finish flashing.

See if that stops the 'no X'.

Items flash in inventory. If you don't look for a while, the last item only will flash, when you do look. The game holds that 'flashing icon' in memory, but instead of looking, we replace that saved 'flashing icon' cue with a worm icon. Then, once the worm icon is removed, the X is superseded by the 'flashing icon' cue.

Sometimes i can catch the icon still flashing, after i set the worm, then there is no X.

It will always be the last ritual item that has this glitch. No matter the order.

I'm fairly certain this is correct, but check it out and i will too.

  20. Screenshot_2016-01-24-15-34-09.thumb.png

Okay, sorry about the rant. You all know how i try to keep the beast on the inside, but I'm turning green and swelling over here (no dirty jokes please).

    ------

So, what do we have here? ↑

Is this some kind of intelligent clue, or is it a big 'fuck you to the community' troll?

I'll eat every anti-bo3 word that I've said if they've actually stumped us and I'm raging for no reason. (It won't make up for their past behaviors, but I'm willing to wipe that slate clean if Blundell isn't trolling).

If he is trolling, then i was righter about them than even i thought. :)

    -------

Like most sane humans, i deleted my twitter account less than a week after making one, since it was so retarded. So i couldn't view the rest of this.

Ahh, ok gotcha. Wasn't it missing the base as well.

Yes. The textures that i showed were the unfinished texture, so it looks like the 'plague pods' were taken directly from Extinction (ghosts). But there is completed versions, where the middle of the pod looks like a walnut, but red, and it has tentacles as a base.

Every pod in RR is floating, because the base isn't shown in my pics.

That may be a clue: that the plague pods were updated only at RR, so they floated in the pic i have, because they should be on a base. Whereas in the other locations, the pods didn't float, maybe because they hadn't actually been used in game. Only the RR one got used for getting the master pod or something. It's a fair guess, but just a guess.

  22. On worm placement: the worms set down in a seemingly random order for me every time.

That's my issue with them; that there is no set pattern that i can find. If i use the same character, do rituals in the same order, place worms at the same pedestals, in the same order, yet they come out of inventory in different orders. I've even done eggs statues in the same order to rule that out.

I figured there would be a set order, or an order for each character, but no. It varies every game on 360 and/or because of the updates.
