  1. I've never really made any map ideas, but here are a few that come to mind with the words you originally posted.

Sand - A luxurious beach-front resort that is in Ruins. Map areas can be the Hotel lobby, underground carpark, pool area (with a maze of slides) & of course the private beachfront.

Water & Industrial - Niagara Falls. I was really hoping this would be in BO2. Can anyone remember the original James Bond 007 on N64? This is the kind of map that would be great for Zombies.

Each area of Tranzit could have been made into its own legendary map.

A Town or City in Ruins

    A creepy old haunted Farm

    A massive Nuclear Power Plant

A Cabin in the woods (enough said)

Education -A School setting has been mentioned numerous times, but I don't think it will ever happen. Maybe a university? But I think that guns being fired inside an educational institution will never happen in a game. Too much controversy.

Subway or Airport -I would like to see a subway station too or international Airport. You could combine the trains system like big airports have a monorail between each terminal. Definitely needs to be dark & creepy as @ said.

(I'm sure this next map will be in the Zombie story at some point. Something similar anyway. So much of the previous story relates to this)

The Pillars of Hercules & The highly speculated Atlantis. Possibly the Strait of Gibraltar. Somewhere near Morocco.

"According to Plato's account, the lost realm of Atlantis was situated beyond the Pillars of Hercules, in effect placing it in the realm of the Unknown."

The title page of Sir Francis Bacon's Instauratio Magna, 1620

  2. Nice breakdown EJ & cool idea for a thread. I doubt think I read this the first time round.

The Physiology that Treyarch have given Zombies is a little different to the stereotypical zombie I guess. As you said originally, gameplay wise, they don't eat you, they only kill by striking their arms. Yet, the wall drawing in Verruckt shows an arm being eaten, though this may be a human eating a Zombie arm as we are later hinted at in the Tranzit TV, the Die Rise opening cinematic & the Die Rise TV. Also Stuhlinger has numerous quote about eating zombie sandwiches or something like that.

Another strange aspect is their sight. Zombies have no eyes. No eyeballs at all. Only beams of light. Yet, in turned we get to see their supernatural vision.

Anyway, love the threads you make like these EJ. Hopefully a few more over the off season.

  3. Upon tuning the power on, Marlton says "Great Tesla Coils". I googled what tesla coils are, and it said they are one of the components that make up a generator. Apparently there are two things that create a tesla coil, and if one isn't working the other won't work either. Now I'm wording this really awkwardly but yeah, it's the best I can put it. XD I found that interesting. Along with a lot of the things Marlton says throughout Tranzit.. :/

Though I don't believe there is any continuation to the side-quest, good luck in finding something. There may still be some small hidden secrets as I found the letters "JD" (which are in Der Riese & Kino) on the the base of the Bus Driver in July last year. Here is the thread - http://www.callofdutyzombies.com/forum/index.php/topic/156703-an-old-easter-egg-returns-jd/

As for the Tesla Coil, the buildable Electric Trap is actually a Tesla Coil. Just like the electric traps in Verrückt, Shi No Numa & Kino Der Toten. The Wünderwaffe DG-2 is pretty much a Tesla Coil.

The inventions of Nikola Tesla feature heavily in COD Zombies. If you want to read more, here is a thread I made in October 2012 - http://www.callofdutyzombies.com/forum/index.php/topic/148995-a-zombie-apocalypse-a-tesla-revolution/ before Black Ops 2 was released.

Another thing to note is Michael Faraday whose portrait features in Buried. He was the man before Nikola Tesla.

    Good luck

Treyarch posted this on their Facebook page & I thought I'd link it here for anyone that doesn't do Facebook or hasn't seen it.

Props to Treyarch for posting this. I really like getting this type of insight. And the reason why these images appeared in the Mob of the Dead Trailer.

The Blundergat was introduced to Zombies fans in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 with the Mob of the Dead experience. Inspired by Civil War-era weaponry, it’s a hybrid between a Gatling Gun and a Blunderbuss.

What happens when the advent of 3D printing allows members of the team to bring these virtual models into the real world? It means that the Zombies Labs just got a little more interesting.

This week, we’ll catch up with some of the team members and watch them bring a 3D-printed Blundergat to life. Because, why not, right? Exactly.

Blundergat - Feeding the 3D Printer

“I purchased my 3D printer a little over a year ago. I’d been experimenting with a variety of different things, trying to learn how to operate the printer and improve the quality of the results. I’m a character artist, so most of what I was printing was character-related. I wanted to try printing something that was more mechanical and complex, so I approached Max Porter (Sr. Artist, Weapons Team) and asked if he'd give me access to the source files for a weapon. He gave me the Blundergat files.” – Scott Wells, Senior Artist

    Blundergat: Some Assembly Required

"The printing process basically involved combining the rather complex source model into a single, solid object and cutting the main form into 5 pieces that would fit on the print tray (4 segments along the length and then the thickest middle part was also split vertically into 2 halves). For an object this large with quality settings on high, the individual parts took between 20 – 40 hours each to print. The smaller detail pieces were separated out into separate print jobs and glued back onto the final assembled Blundergat at the end.” – Scott Wells, Senior Artist

    Blundergat - Audio

"The wonder weapons in our Zombies mode give us the opportunity to explore fantastical sound design from the language of the DG-2 to the Thundergun. The starting point for all of the wonder weapons is as far out there as possible while still sounding like a weapon.

Not so for the Bludergat, though.

We wanted it to have its roots with an actual Blunderbuss, but then add spice on top of it to make it feel like a wonder weapon. While we never actually recorded one, we did record a small cannon that used gunpowder to launch whatever you could fit into the tube." - Brian Tuey, Director of Audio

  5. At work ATM, so I will have to come back & make a better post. Just wanted to post this about the Multiplayer map Nuketown in Black Ops.

Why are US & Spatnaz Soilders fighting there? No idea, just purely for gameplay purposes I imagine.

    Inspiration for Nuketown

    http://web.archive.org/web/20120403181636/http:/community.callofduty.com/community/call_of_duty_xp_blog/blog/2011/09/03/treyarch-reveals-the-black-ops-multiplayer-you-never-saw

Actually, it was built in two. Nuketown was a happy accident and was never officially planned. According to Dan Bunting, Vahn saw Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull one night and came in the next day saying “We need to do a map like this!” So the team looked at old nuclear test footage -- “we watched movies of towers been blown to smithereens and it was really inspiring.” The map was rapidly prototyped in two days while the creative fires were burning, and quickly became an official map. Dan said Nuketown’s evolution taught Treyarch a good lesson: “Ideas generate other ideas, and sometimes you have to let someone not do what they’re supposed to do.”

  6. Brains Joe. I wasn't to sure if you were a member here.

Below is what I used at the start of my Great Leap Forward thread found here - http://www.callofdutyzombies.com/forum/index.php/topic/151716-chinas-great-leap-forward/

    China

    Cuba

    Vietnam

(Vietcong/NLF/Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam)

    200px-FNL_Flag.svg.png

The Vietnam flag would actually be the flag of the Vietcong or Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam - http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provisional_Revolutionary_Government_of_the_Republic_of_South_Vietnam

I tend to think that the 4 flags may just represent the Black Ops Story of the Cold War? But who knows, maybe we will see Cuba & Vietnam? The Zombies in Shangri-la are actually Vietcong soldiers from the campaign & there are ammo crates which have Vietnamese writing on them too.

I really hope that we can decipher the Nacht page later on, just like we found out what the Nuketown loading screen machine is in Origins.

    Brains again Joe!

    Edit - @JoeMama115

Did you know that the Warehouse picture is identical to the Warehouse in "Indiana Jones & the Temple of the Crystal Skull"? This movie also features the inspiration for Nuketown.

  7. A BIG congrats to you two - Boom & Slade.

Both of you have put a lot of time & effort into CoDz and you both are great contributors. I think both of you have probably spent about 20 years of your life on CoDz.

    Congrats again guys

  8. I agree there Nai & the others above that have said the same.

When viewing a forum or new content the white is good. White just looks hideous at the bottom.

    Either way. No big deal
