  1. Depends on the remaster. The Last of Us and GTAV remasters are plain and simply dumb for coming out only a year after the original and with very few actual changes.

Here are some examples of good remasters

Resident Evil 1 remake- completely remade the game with "better" (not by much) voice acting. It's also scarier than the original.

Master Chief Collection- 2 remade games (one came out earlier) along with Halo 3 and 4, and new muliplayer.

Metal Gear Solid Legacy collection- 3 remastered games with the addition of MGS4, MGS1 original as a download, and I think the first 2 metal gears for a fairly low price

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 for bringing America and Europe/Australia stuff from the japanese final mix versions, as well as updated textures, remastered music, and remade cutscenes for two games

Wind Waker HD- Improved lighting, and a faster sail option. Really all that game needed, and it works since it came out 10 years after the original. Ocarina of Time 3D is also a good mention since it completely remade the graphics.

Many HD collectiions are simply upscales. That works for a game that came out many years ago and for people that never got to play a certain game, but really, it wasn't necessary to remaster things like GTAV and TLOU so early. I am debating on whether or not to pick up TLOU remastered despite this since I didn't play it on PS3.

  2. It depends on the game. I honestly don't think Half Life 3 will live up to the hype because it's a shooter. Not many very innovative shooters anymore. Story-wise it'll probably be great, but gameplay... I just don't see it being so great.

Games that have been announced or hinted at forever can still succeed. It just depends on what type of game it is. FFXV and KH3 have been announced/hinted at forever, and they look fine mostly because we know more or less how they'll play, and the gameplay is still fine.

It's a very difficult question to answer since it's very relative...

  3. Watch Dogs is another good example.

But yes, hype can only lead to disappointment.

Games can also be over hyped to the point where it get's annoying and you don't even want anything to do with it anymore regardless of the fact if the game is actually good or not... right, @ZombieOfTheDead? :P

Don't even get me started on The Last of Us, anything made by valve, GTA5, and many others.

Hype for a game is only good if the game is actually good, and is something that you're interested in. So, it's pretty relative.

^btw, I've literally never heard of the Mario and Luigi RPG games, and I'd call myself pretty active in the gaming world. Paper Mario is the only Mario RPG that I knew of until now. No idea about back then, but can't say it's very well known now.

  4. You know you could probably just pop in off topic once in awhile if you want, because that's all a lot of us do  :D

Really though, many of us barely even play zombies anymore. I just stay because I know people here, and I won't go on skype to talk to them.

Oh, Welcome Back, btw. Not sure if you remember me. I was the guy who always had the Takeo avatar.

  5. I hate it when people make fun of Nintendo, saying things relating to them not matching up to the other companies and whatnot. I thought the comedy sketches where Nintendo blatantly made fun of those comments were hilarious.

I find it funny how people still said stuff about them after their E3 conference, which was by in large the best out of all of them. I may need to get a WiiU soon for Zelda and SSB in particular.

Also, those comedy bits were pure gold. Apparently they worked with Robot Chicken on that, and it worked well! I love all the references to fan complaints, and Reggie being awesome.

  6. 1. Unity, because we saw so much of it and it looked cool.

    2. Uncharted 4, because the darker approach made me hyped, but there was no gameplay

    3. Zelda U, because I love zelda, but again, no gameplay

honorable mentions being: Smash Bros, The Order: 1886, Sunset Overdrive (sad I'll never get it), and Bloodborne.

But hey, E3 still isn't over! Just the press conferences.

  7. I think Nintendo won in terms of pacing. Zelda U looks great (but then there are the dumbasses who think cartoony means kiddy. They need to just STFU).

Now we've just got the separate game trailers. Looking forward to KH 2.5 trailers and stuff.

EDIT: Oh, and that new trailer for the new Smash Bros character makes me want a Smash Bros anime. That'd be amazing.

  8. Sony dropped all of the balls from last year. Maybe I'm just irritated because the stream was lagging so damn much.

The Order looks interesting to me now. I like the supernatural stuff. Wish they didn't have that huge thing with the indie games. I personally think they're pretty boring. Then there was the part that focused on non game things that no one wanted to see. Then it got back up with Arkham Knight and Uncharted 4. I'm really excited for uncharted 4 now. Looks like the first one in terms of location..

I can't help but feel that the conference would be that much better with KH3 and FFXV info. It was just a terribly boring conference aside from the beginning and the end.

  9. I liked the Dead Rising 3 DLC trailer.

About time Frank West came back. 8)

    That trailer was hilarious.

EAs conference was terrible. 80% Sports games. The second worst genre ahead of racing. Only good part was Battlefront at the beginning, but there wasn't enough!

Hoping Sony and Nintendo bring their A game like last year. Microsoft was decent this year.

  10. This is the first time I've posted on an actual zombies based discussion in forever, but...

Der Riese. It's so overrated. It's like, the Ocarina of Time of zombies. The first zombie map to do what it does (slightly higher complexity with the Pack a punch), but pretty much every map that came after it is way more fun and complex (though Kino and Ascension were basically the same to be honest). I don't get what people see in it. It's not very interesting. You've gotta admit though, guys, the Ocarina of Time analogy is pretty spot on.

Like I mentioned in the above paragraph, Kino and Ascension are pretty cookie cutter and boring now. Fun when they were out, not anymore. Also, way too easy.

    Finally, Tranzit. Nuff said.

Not liking the hate Shi no Numa is getting. Loved that map back in the day.

  11. I've heard that the game kinda sucks. It's pretty generic and bland, and does many things wrong. The only good part about it being the hacks, the novelty of which soon wears off. Pretty glad I didn't buy into the hype.

  12. When watch dogs comes out next week we will see which is better .

But seeing the amount of things you can do in watchdogs I doubt GTA IV will be "better"

Quantity does not equal quality. Just sayin. I have fun in GTA4 just with the physics. Ragdoll corpses ftw!

Also, I believe you said outdated. That implies graphics and physics alone, both of which are lacking in Watch Dogs it seems. A lack of stuff (hacks, parkour) in GTA would not make it dated, as those are not actually core elements of the series. Can't call it dated when those have nothing to do with the series.

It may or may not be better gameplay wise. I don't know, and don't really care. GTA bores me now, but even with the hacks I don't see why Watch Dogs would entertain me any more. It's intriguing, but nothing truly game changing.

  13. Wow, that's a technical fail for watch dogs... now the only reason I would want this game is because it's set in Chicago.

Also, I can't believe Black Hand called GTAIV outdated. Still looks damn good to me. Aside from the faces, right now it's looking better than watchdogs which was supposed to look next gen.

  14. But seriously, at least make the bottom user names orange. They were orange before all of the usernames were changed to orange and should stay that way if nothing else. It looks so ugly down at the bottom, especially in conjunction with the ads. I don't care if the regular names stay white, but the bottom of the page just looks dreadful.

  15. I'm curious as to how people think white is less clustered. If anything, it's more clustered now that it is white. Looks freakin terrible.

Also, to the "too much color" people. You do realize that if 90% of the members are still one color that it's still pretty uncolorful, right? If anything, now the names need more color. The orange blended sooo much better with the site than white. I can't explain it, it just looks so... bland now.

EDIT: If we keep the white, can we at least change the bottom username cluster back to orange like it was before? That is the biggest offender.

  16.

We shouldn't have added the chat, I don't think. That just brings even less traffic to the actual forums. Otherwise, cool.

EDIT: Oh, it requires a subscription later. Well, then that may or may not be effective at all.

Many of us chat off the forum already and it has had no impact one way or the other. This will just give us the option of not using skype.

So I've been told on the chat. Seems kinda pointless to charge money for the subscription later, though.
