  1. Major hope: THAT IT RELEASES ON LAST-GEN CONSOLES! (Xbox 360/PS3)

Likely not gona happen mate... Sorry...

Well, y'know, it does say that the actual product availability atm is unconfirmed right down at the bottom of the part of the reveal showing the whole beta thing.

    So...
    Y'know...

    It's possible...

it will be better for everybody if it isn't released for last gen unfortunately.  just remember, a penny saved is a penny earned

Yeah, better for the current-gen fans. But what about the many still on past-gen consoles? It'd be a suicidal move not to at least make a port for this game. I mean, chances for a change in how many still on past-gen can happen between the BOIII release and the release afterwards (probably damn Ghosts II... I'll care less for that), so...

    Y'know, let's just wait.

Same reason they didn't make Black Ops 2 for Xbox and PS2,  They can't just continue to port games designed for new hardware back to old.  It will limit what they can do with the game which is awful.  Imagine if when Gamecube came out, they only designed the games so that they could be produced for N64 as well?   Nobody expected that at the time, and they certainly shouldn't expect it now.  Fact is, we are approaching year 3 of xbox one and ps4, I find it ridiculous that they are even still considering releasing backward ports of new games at this point.  if you can save the $60 to buy the last gen port of the game, with not much extra work you can save the $360 that it would take to get a new console and the game.

Isn't microsoft abandoning support of the 360 in 2016 anyway? i had heard that somewhere i believe

and people who legitimately can't afford the new console, can still play the old games we love on those consoles.  Just like when i was 13 and couldn't afford a N64 right off the bat, i didn't complain that they didn't make Super Mario 64 for SNES, nor did anyone expect them too.  But then eventually i saved up enough for an N64 and boom i was playing all the new games again.  The internet and smartphones and twitter etc. have caused people to lose any sense of patience

  3. The very most important thing to me is retaining the core zombies gameplay experience.  No exo suits or boosting.  No bank.  it should be a game with strategy from start to finish.  I would like to see instead of brand new experimental ideas (like we saw so much of in BO2) some improvements and innovations to already proven great ideas (such as perks and pack-a-punch)   I think it would be a great time to try and implement some of the long time ideas like perk combo's, multiple pack-a-punch, attachments, etc.  To have maximum success, i think its time to get back to basics, and then innovate from there instead of a lot of wild  crazy new ideas.

  4. right. @Slade described it very well.  To your point of why?  Why do we have any customizations?  Its for fun! makes for originality and ability to express your individuality through cosmetic changes to your gun.  The key is you can save the "variants" and then use them in your classes

  5. If the game is current gen only, I could see the bidding price being huge for the marketing rights, and that might be the reason MS lost the rights, if they did.

Let's face it, 3arc is the biggest name in COD, and COD is the biggest game this side of GTA. The console that gets COD map packs  month early on the first current gen only COD is going to set records in sales.

If it happened to be a contract year for the marketing rights, it would be a perfect storm for Activision to make a lot more money.

MS might be too close to their budget to match what Sony was willing to spend to get the rights.

This may be true, but from what I have seen, Sony as a whole is really hurting on the bottom line.  PS4 has been a bright spot in an otherwise miserable time for them.  Microsoft could easily outbid Sony if they wanted to, but whether or not they want to remains to be seen

  7. Just a few notes.  I am not particularly fond of the placement of the quote and multiquote options.  every forum i've ever seen those have been in the bottom right of posts not bottom left.  just a minor detail but it is familiar.

The speed on PC/laptop is not as good as previously in my experience.

Im pleased with the amount of features and info and everything, but it is pretty wonky aesthetically

  8. Wow, people hate exo-suits that much? C'mon, it adds variance to gameplay mechanics tenfold. Additionally, these may resemble exo-suits but they could be a less-emphasized version of AW's concept.

    Too many people complain.

I say bring it on, Treyarch.

Here's the thing about the exo suits.  They were fun for about 3 hours.  Now it is just annoying.  I get that some people would be disappointed with the slower pace of no exos, but far more people will be turned off if there are legit exo or advanced movements.  advanced warfare is such a clusterfuck, it is far too chaotic.  headshot's are complete luck with how people zip and zap back and forht at 100 mph.  Im fine with it being an every 3 year thing, but they better listen to the fans, or there will be a noticeable hit to sales imo.

Thank god the zombies story is developed enough that they can do something completely different with it than with campaign/mp and nobody will bat an eye

  9. Was there a reason that link to callofdutywiki was removed? If that's a forum rule breach, pardon me, I'm still a n00b here. Or did you delete it? @gfn21

Not sure if it's a rule breach, I'm also fairly new here! I may have just deleted it by mistake, though.

this is a little off topic, but it is fantastic that we are gaining new members who are being so active in the forums.  Welcome aboard guys, it is going to be a wild ride the next 18 months or so!  :D

  10. Why are they using snap chat anyways? Why not just use twitter? Either they have stock in it or they don't want us to save the pics. But obviously we can. I dont get it. Or is it nothing? Or maybe we have yet to find out...

SnapChat is extremely popular, and even more-so among the people they most want to reach (12-24 year olds give or take)

Twitter is still great and they haven't stopped using that, but the snapchat thing is just brilliant viral marketing at its finest

  11.

honestly, when adjusted for inflation, and factoring in the incredible things we get with games today, $60 is a bargain compared to what they could justify selling games for.  NES games were $60-$70 back in 1990.  we should be paying $100 for games today based off of inflation alone, much less the crazy amount of content we get compared to NES/SNES times.  I understand people not liking the microtransaction system. I really do.  Stuff is expensive.  Im just saying, the alternative could be a lot worse.

Exactly. Its also amazing that NES games were around the same price and when you beat them, they'd have about 10-50 names in the credits. Now, video game sound departments have more names then that. So its amazing that they can keep the price where its been thanks to games being so popular now. I'll admit though, that if a game tried to raise the price to $65, I'd be out. Don't want give in to any price increase because once we do it will sky rocket. And this will be the argument they make to shut us up. As long as they are still making profits, I don't want to see that number change.

They are still making profits, but this is why I can't complain about DLC or microtransactions.  They could definitely justify raising the standard price for full games, but i'm content with maintaining the $60 price point and giving in to optional content being offered to supplement their bottom line

  12.

@the_clay_bird @Chopper The answer is simple really, the majority of people who buy CoD don't buy DLC. Instead, they just play that one Zombies map that came with the disc. This move was clearly done to persuade as many of those people into buying the DLC anyway.

Now only buying the main game is no longer an option because you have to get at least one of the DLCs in order to play Exo Zombies. And hey if you're going to buy one why not just get the Season Pass for this amazing price, right?

But if someone buys the game for the zombie content on the disk, those same people would buy the DLC anyway. DLC has been up in sales because all CoD titles now offer these extra coop maps and stories and not just MP maps like MW3 did. If they didn't put Zombie material on the disk and waited for DLC, they might hurt their sales. People like me wouldn't buy the game, like I didn't with Ghosts and AW. Then when the DLC comes out, it makes the decision of buying it that much harder since now I have to consider spending $60 for the game and then $15 or $50 for DLC. In AWs case, the zombie content does look fun, but there's not enough there for me to invest that much. Had their been zombie material on the disk and I spent the money then, the DLC would have been a no brainer.

Also, Activision puts a lot of importance in their release sales. Hence why they push pre-orders and in Ghosts case, tried to juice up the numbers. So putting Zombies on the disk and advertising it is the best way to make sure those sales go back up to where BO2's were.

i didnt like the dirty zombies paywall tactics of advanced warfare either, its why i never bought the game until i found it online for 30$. i got a dlc and will get the better of the next 2 dlcs. either way i will not be spending more than 60$ on this game.

when did 60$ become not enough?

That's where the Dr. Salim name is displayed in Snapchat.

    weird... mine still says callofduty

but im also almost 30 years old, and don't operate the snap chats like the young folk do

Im just so impressed with how Treyarch creates buzz about a game that hasn't even been announced.  They really should consult with the other devs on how to market the games

  14.

I'm actually surprised no one has mentioned this before. The name for the snapchat account is Dr. Salim. I'd look into that. It could be a real person or it could be a fictional character. Who knows?

what do you mean by this? I don't see that anywhere

Yeah, i looked all over and couldn't find anything saying Dr. Salim.  you can change the name manually but thats the only way i could figure to make it say that.

  15. I liked how BO2 had two main parellel storylines as part of the overarching narrative, one in the final years of the Cold War and the other in 2025. Great narrative choice, I hope this returns in BO3.

It would be the best way imo to satisfy those who want CoD to go back in time versus those who are happy with the future setting.

Let's face it, CoD MP will never be set in WW2 again. The Campaign on the other hand they can go pretty much wherever they want.

I would tend to agree with you as far as MP is concerned, although i would LOVE next gen WW2 MP and think it would be awesome... just might not have the mass appeal that future stuff has.  However I could see Treyarch as the only ones capable to market it to the masses and pull it off.

However, the cool thing is, that with 3 distinct separate modes (and treyarch makes them more separate than the other devs imo) They could still have a near future type MP experience, A future/past campaign experience, and then take zombies to any time period they want. I think that is a really exciting prospect
