  1. I always imagined that the end cutscene would just be Jimmy Z sitting in a chair, with a lampstand and lamp, reading a comic book and drinking tea.  He would look up and notice us and go "Oh, hello there.  I'm Jimmy Zielinski, lead developer for Call of Duty Zombies mode.  I just wanted to thank you for all of your support over the years.  I know what you're probably wondering.  "What next Jimmy?  What does this mean?  What about this?"  Well calm down young one.  The honest truth is, we have no earthly idea where this story is going.  We just throw in a bunch of random occult symbols and let those crazies on CoDz go to work and make our story work.  We have no idea what's going on.  But hey..." He takes another sip of tea and winks at the camera.  "Thanks for doing our job for us..."  The camera zooms out as Jimmy continues to read the comic, until it all fades to black.

  2. So, wait.

The Shang we see in the comic book, does that whole being sucked into that vortex thing occur before or after the O4 gets there? Not to mention why. :3

If that's correct, that means the temples must be below sea-level.

    Great eye ! :3

Before.  The comic book pages are telling us what happened to this place and why it got to how it is.  You can especially see this with Moon's.

  3. A couple years ago (wow...it's been that long...), Jimmy Z tweeted out a mysterious tweet:  "Shangri-la Mountains".  This sent CoDz into a frenzy as other devs commented to the tweet with things like "Best easter egg yet"  "No one even knows" and such.  As we searched, Tac came to truly believe that Shangri-la was, in fact, on Mars.  I didn't believe it.  It made no sense.  How could Shangri-la get to Mars in the first place.  It's a barren wasteland.  There's no source of water for the waterfall.  There are radios from people who were at Shangri-la (Brock and Gary) that could not have been from Mars.  Nope.  It can't be on Mars.

But after that, it seemed as though this became a confirmed fact.  One person tweeted Jimmy Z saying they should put a map on Mars and he responded to it something like "sigh...does anyone wanna help him out?" as though we already knew there was a Mars map.  So I began to accept this as fact, whether it made sense or not.

But it has always bothered me.  How could that work.  Today, something came to my mind that may make sense of it all.

    "Time Travel Will Tell"

This is obviously the achievement you receive for completing the easter egg on Shangri-la.  Named due to the nature of the easter egg, going back and forth through time to change things that happen and rescue Brock and Gary, it all of a sudden occurred to me that this could be our answer.  Time Travel Will Tell.

Time travel tells the secrets of how Shangri-la, in its presence state, is on Mars.  We're there because of time travel!  Shangri-la isn't a present day location...it's from the past!

"Hold up hold up Fated.  I get that we go back and forth in the easter egg throughout time, but how can we be in the past on Shangri-la?"

We aren't.  Simple as that.  We are not in the past on Shangri-la, but Shangri-la is from the past.  If you look at the mountains of Shangri-la, we're surrounded by a barren wasteland.  It's nothing like the deciduous location we are located in.  It makes no sense that this tropical oasis is located here.  But it is.  Which means one of two things is out of place:  the background or the map.

So then, the question must be raised:  How did Shangri-la get there?  I have a solution for you.

    zombies_buried_richtofen_easter_egg9.jpg

Yes!  The Time Bomb from Buried!  The residents of Shangri-la obviously knew how to tamper with the fabric of time, as we experienced during the easter egg.  I believe that they created a very ancient version of a time bomb.  When it was activated, it shot Shangri-la to the present day and wa la.  We have Shangri-la on Mars.

There's one main problem with this though:  the walkie talkies.  To explain this, I have two different options that I am torn between.

    1.  Somehow Mars was once inhabited by intelligent life that left these here.  When the Time Bomb activated, it brought these walkie talkies with it.

    2.  This is my preferred choice.  Shangri-la was on earth.  Think about Buried.  How is an old west town in Africa?  One of the best theories I've heard is that the time bomb was activated and it basically threw that old west town into that location.  It's underground because that's where the Time Bomb was.  The Time Bomb was activated and it sucked old Shangri-la into a vortex, sending it to Mars.

Another option I just thought of while writing this.

    shangri_la_loading_screen_by_bansheethek

In the loading screen, we see a hole in the ground that looks to be sucking things in.  What is this was an ancient (or early prototype) Gersch Device.  It sucked in Shangri-la and it released it on Mars.  That explains how it all got there.

Shangri-la formerly being on earth would explain Brock and Gary's presence.  A Gersch Device could explain the transportation element.  And a Time Bomb could explain why it's still fresh and living, unlike the rest of Mars.

What do you think?  I think I may have stumbled into two different theories here when I intended to only write one.  I hope you enjoy it and let's discuss.

  4. There is nothing wonderful about the jet gun. It's a build able, and it's got nothing "Wondrous" about it. It's all clear-as-day, run-of-the-muck turbine found in any ole plane.

It being a buildable does not negate it's presence as a Wonder Weapon.

I'll say this and ask a question at the end.  The developers have put a new Wonder Weapon on each map since Kino.  Each of these weapons have been out there and done something super unique that no other gun does.  You won't find these weapons in any other maps, minus Thundergun in Ascension and Kino (or DG-2 in CotD...we won't count the BO remakes of WaW maps).  So when we go to TranZit, do you believe that the developers intended the Jet Gun to be the Wonder Weapon for that map, however useless it was?  It's the dev intent that matters to me.  They even hyped it up in the release trailer.  That was supposed to be the big gun we were all looking forward to.

Maybe this is a bit much of me, but I honestly don't see the big argument here.  I wonder how this is even debatable.  MMX even stated that definitions need to not be subjective, but every argument against the Jet Gun is super subjective and comes down to "It's a buildable and it sucks."

Did the developers intend for this weapon to be the "Wonder Weapon" of the map?  Forget it's usefulness and if it's fun and if you personally like it.  Did the developers have intentions for that weapon to be a Wonder Weapon?

  5. Just another thought I had.  If you go there now, something will be up and running.  The only map with something already up and running is TranZit and that is the bus.  But stick to the path.  Don't go hunting.  Stay on a path apparently.  Don't go hunting....could this mean that we shouldn't kill any zombies?

  6. I have no idea what it means.  It's probably something we just  missed.  Remember Shangri-la Mountains?  This probably isn't something with an Easter Egg.  It's just something we've missed.

Also, don't go hunting could mean don't go Easter Egg hunting or don't go looking for it.  Like Mega said, it could be right in front of our eyes.

  7. It isn't debatable if you make an accurate definition. By yours, the Jet Gun, M2 Flamethrower, Ballstic Knife, and Crossbow Explosive-Tip are Wonder Weapons. Which is of course ridiculous.

    1.  I do believe the Jet Gun is a Wonder Weapon, however useless it is.  It was intended to be a Wonder Weapon for TranZit.

    2.  Yea, I wanted to say "Specific to a certain map", but there are some WWs that find their way into more than one map, mostly during the Black Ops era.  And I'll agree with you that Flamethrower, Ballistic Knife, and Crossbow aren't Wonder Weapons.  They're on too many maps to be a Wonder Weapon.

I guess for me, a Wonder Weapon is that big weapon on each map that you're like "HOLY CRAP I GOT THE ______".  Sure, some are less exciting to get than others (Jet Gun), but the Devs intended it to be seen as THE WW for TranZit.

  8. To decide if it's a Wonder Weapon, ask yourself these questions:

    1.  Can more than one person have this weapon at a time?

    2.  Does it do something unique from a normal gun?

Wonder Weapons are pretty easy to figure out.  They're the super cool weapons on each map.  Whether you want to define them as "super" or "wonder" or whatever is mute.  Treyarch made those weapons to be considered the "Wonder Weapon" for those maps.  That would include:

    Wunderwaffe DG-2

    Thundergun

    Winter's Howl

    V-R11

    Scavenger

    31-79 JGB215

    Wave Gun

    Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23

    Sliquifier

    Blundergat

    Paralyzer

    Staff of Fire

    Staff of Wind

    Staff of Lightning

    Staff of Ice

There's also the Wonder Weapon Items:

    Gersch Device

    Matryoshka Dolls

    Quantum Entanglement Device

    Hell's Retriever

    Golden Spork

    Time Bomb

    One Inch Punch

Then there's the one's that are debatable (in my opinion):

    Ray Gun

    Monkey Bomb

    Ray Gun Mark II

    G-Strike

The reason these are debatable are because they appear in a large portion of the maps (more of a signature zombies weapon than a wonder weapon), or are an upgraded version of such.

  9. Sorry Fated, but that "leaked" image is 100% fake to me.

The fact that they mispelled Die Kamer - The Chamber is a dead giveaway.

It's Die Kammer. Not Der Kammer.

Should I bring to your attention Der Riese/Der Reise.  Both were used by Treyarch in advertising.  I don't think they fully understand German.  Also, remember that this is "leaked."  A mistype would be fixed before it would be launched.
