  1. Ahh don't worry about that, it would still be prominent, just thinking out aloud - maybe moving random topic and the search function to the top beside the user profile information drop for PM's and notifcations but just as they are.

  2. Nope, not considering removing it, just wondering if it is used the often.

@GRILL mentioned real estate and it was partly based on that, in fact it was based all on that. If more menu options are added then we could use the space, it just meant relocating it to a different position and I was just curious if it was used. I've used it myself to read old topics but not bring them back to life, it's a useful feature and brings a benefit.

  3. Hey All,

We have introduced a new member usergroup, this comes before the members group & upon posting 5 posts New Members Will become Members. This does a couple of things for us, it allows us to track members that are actually active by simply looking at the board index "Who's Online". It also does a couple of other things, it will allow us to prevent "New Members" from accessing things such as chat until they have actually contributed to the site.

So if you see a members name in orange, this means they are a "New Member" or a Newbie, Noob but we are going with the title "New Member". I'm still setting up the restrictions on the "New Member" group just now but everything will be sorted in 10 or 20 minutes.

Any questions or feedback, as usual post a comment below.

  4. @Slade thats the thing though, it's not necessarily the case. I've had a look but I can't find anything concrete but by Treyarch could own the game and lease it to Activision for use with Call of Duty & the game they (Treyarch) produce.

The likely scenario is that it is the IP (Intellectual Property) of Treyarch but I don't know the ins and outs of it. Although I know that IW own the the Modern Warfare tilte and would be entitled to royalties and would need to consent to the use of the brand. Even though it is a brand under Call of Duty, this is part of the contract "apparently" between IW and Activision that was being filed under the lawsuit a while back.

    Source: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/05/07/infinity-ward-activision-black-ops-ii.aspx

Activision will retain authority and responsibility over all titles within the 'Call of Duty' franchise (specifically excluding any 'Call of Duty' title set in modern day (post Vietnam). the near future or distant future, which shall be under the authority of IW consistent with and subject to Sections 2(a) and ( B)). including all creative, development and publishing decisions; provided that IW will be entitled to receive a residual IP bonus and a technology bonus from products published under the 'Call of Duty' brand as outlined in Section 3(d).

Treyarch will have something similar with zombies, they would be stupid if they didn't.

  5. Lets just say this, it's definately at the very least haumage to Treyarchs zombies that's pretty much a given.

Now, I think gamemode wise, SW looked at things they could do and then approached Treyarch with the idea of bringing zombies to AW. This will be in the form of Call Of Duty: Online - however, it's most likely a nod to the community. Saying hey, we know you love your zombies and we appreciate that and we will bring you a co-op mode that will wet your appetite before Treyarch release the next game & that it will potentially be as good as zombies.

Secondly, I can't see Treyarch given the game mode to another studio to produce as well, even if it is remastered maps. It depends on how the contracts work between Activision and Treyarch, such as what you produce as an employee belongs to the company and not the individual. It could be that Treyarch own the entire gamemode for zombies and lease this out to CoD as a seperate game mode.

Either way, if AW has CoD zombies treyarch style then I'll buy it for that alone. If it has a game mode that is closely similar to it, I might buy it. If it's as shit as extinction, thanks but no thanks. I need to see gameplay of it before making my mind up & then I'll need to read reviews on it as well.

Bottom line, I think it's a long shot but still a possibility.

  6. Turtle beach XC1's - cost me £15 ($25) - sturdy, reliable and had them for over 3 years.

However, for listening to music and DJ'ing, the sound from Sennheiser HD600 headphones is superb, crystal crear, treble is crisp, the bass is "fat" - just superb. They are fairly expensive though at over £220 ($350)

  7.

Who said it was a patch and is not a hint at something already in the game, have a wider view people!

I just had a thought and its a very weird one, lol they are updating old maps! XD Please be that.

I thought that everything worth finding was already combed over in the PC files.

EDIT: also something I thought of, strange that he posted it the day before the last Extinction DLC drops.

That crossed my mind as well ;)

  8. I agree with this. I do not necessarily believe Origins is supposed to be set in some, "alternate" timeline. The whole basis of the map being set in an aternative reality came from that one description of the map that was put there by some site admin guy, not necessarily a dev.

"Origins is exactly what it say's on the tin. We are going back to the moment when our heroes met for the first time! Nikolai, Dempsey, Takeo, and of course, Richtofen, and this is not for the faint hearted. These characters are meeting surrounded by the horrors of war. We have a larger scale than we have ever done before, further enhanced by dynamic weather, from rain, fog rolling in, snow falling. In true zombies style, our WW1 has a dramatic twist... diesel punk! The map feature 2 new era specifc weapons... the MG08 machine gun... WOW! and a new starting pistol for the first time which is the Mauser, and both have been give the diesel punk asthetic. We've introduced the zombie tank. This is a defendable platform that can move around the map that you can use to fight off the zombie horde and also possibly discover a few Easter eggs along the way. Oh by the way... did I mention the giant robots? We have 1000ft mechanical giants striding across the landscape. That gives a verticality and scale that we've never seen before in zombies. It also provides hazards, or oportunities for the skilled player. This zombie map really has to be seen to be believed"

Nowhere in Jason Blundell's breakdown does it mention alternate realities or timelines. Only that one line from the map description on the CoD site and then David Vonderhaar's tweet about it being one of many possibilities, which I must add only got posted after everyone complained about the trailer and how it was completely contridictary towards the current storyline and timeline.

My guess is that it was not supposed to be an alternate timeline originally, but seeing the communities reaction to the map they will no doubt make it non-canon when the next game comes out.

The origins map is not in the reality of other map, it has been confirmed by Treyarch :

Call of Duty®: Black Ops 2 Apocalypse marks Treyarch and Activision’s fourth and final DLC map pack for Call of Duty®: Black Ops 2, capping-off the year with two all-new Multiplayer Maps, two re-imagined fan-favorite Multiplayer classics, and an alternate-reality Dieselpunk Zombies experience that transports players to the undead-infested trenches of a World War I battlefield.

Nice find. I have a theory that it is in another world but when we free Samantha it becomes the universe we usually play in.

Although it is a nice find, it has already been discussed within this topic. The DLC description is the only place that the term "alternate-reality" is mentioned it occurs nowhere else and is not confirmed as an "alternate reality" just because it appears on the DLC description on the COD site.

  9. Is it just me or does anyone else think that the story isn't a mess?

Sure we have things which have went unanswered and may have led us up a garden path, but isn't that part of a good story teller, leading you places and leaving trails that might not necessarily lead anywhere? To me the story makes "sense" - I'm off the opinion that we know that they listen to the community, we know that they will take the feedback and "potentially" satisfy those that need to be satisfied.

However, I have a rule. If you watch 20 minutes of a movie and it's shit, tough. I'm now committed and I'll watch it to the end. Treyarch have committed themselves to telling a story, whether you think it's shit or not it's being told and they must stick it out to the end.

  10. They didn't end the story with the O4 under a bright light, they ended the story with the last line of the "chapter" with "my dad has a plan" that without a shadow of doubt is how the "origins" chapter was ended. Read anybook and the last paragraph/page/line always ends the chapter/book/story. The fact the O4 finished by looking into a light was only part of the ending - it was by no means the ending.

  11. 3) How exactly do you explain how Sam knew about some of the weapons in black ops 2? It seems as if her and Eddy are in the WW2 era or sometime near then. Many of the blops 2 weapons didn't exist back then.

Tell me this, if the cutscene in Origins is from the WaW era, where did the camera come from that Samantha knocks over? She wouldn't have one so this must be closer to our timeline than you think.

The simple fact of the matter is this and it's a simple fact. We have no answers and we can only speculate. Until Treyarch say otherwise, the story continues - it has not had closure, no matter what you read into it, it doesn't.

Now take this from a normal story being told, the O4 scorch the earth with the rockets. At the end of Origins we hear Samantha say "my dad has a plan". What does this mean in a story mode (forget about zombies, I ain't talking zombies here, I'm talking normal stories). Each chapter leads into the next chapter, it gives you a cliffhanger that makes you want to read the next chapter, or watch the next scene in a movie/play.

Some people will not like what they see and stop reading / listening / watching after a certain chapter or scene. Which is fine, it's their choice, however, a story still needs to be told and it will continue. The simple fact is this, the story has not ended - you do not end a story with say "my dad has a plan" what you do is you end a chapter by saying this, which makes you want to get the next book, watch the next movie etc.

Treyarch are smart, they know they lost a lot of folk from WaW and BO in BOII, they know they need to start to pull things together and they will. They will have been reading what has been said for the past year and a bit and taken the feedback on-board. It will all be bullet pointed on several whiteboards within the zombie teams offices at Treyarch. They know what the community are thinking, they know what the general consensus within the community is.

Now, what I perceive will happen in the next game release on current gen consoles and PC is reworked maps for WaW, BO, BOII and will be released with the game on a special zombies disc or they will release these maps alongside the 1st DLC that is released. I also think that instead of having 1 year cycle of support and updates, that we will see a period of 2 years of support and updates and that DLC will be focused on the 1st year for the season pass but we may start to see special DLC releases within the 2nd year.

So what do I see happening with the story? I have no idea, but I'm just as eager to find out about it as the rest of you but rest assured it has not ended "yet".

  12. I can honestly say, that after the problems between staff at IW and Activision, that IW have been hit badly - the same core team of developers have pretty much moved onto Respawn. This in my view has drastically reduced the creativity at IW and Activision know it and that's why the merge of Neversoft and IW happened.

I could actually see IW being dropped by Activision if the next installment from them is poorly received. In fact if Sledgehammers is poorly received it will only leave the Treyarch title before the next IW installement. I see the Treyarch installment as being the defining moment for the Franchise - if CoD goes, I could potentially see all the studios suffer and I could see Treyacrh creating a zombies based game but for another publisher - it's a winner and they know it and so does Activision.

  13. They will get my money by default, I will only by CoD for zombies, if that gives me the pile of **** that goes with it, then so be it.

I detest multiplayer, I haven't played Titanfall for that reason and I can also say that the multiplayer aspect of Destiny put me off it a little - maybe it's an age thing.

  14. I dislike Ghosts that much that I have played multiplayer once and extinction twice and last no more than 30 minutes on them, which is suprising consider I have bought every CoD title for years. Never actually bought this one though, the boy bought it on his console, got a telling off and MS refunded it :)

Anyway, I see the end is nigh for Extinction, I think it was a one off to test it "poorly" received and has been consigned to the cutting floor.

  15. If I'm honest, I see the death of CoD (not zombies) but multiplayer - unless they can bring something "new" to the table with the current systems (not next gen anymore) - I think Treyarch will go all out on the next installment.
