Remastered Zombie Maps

My initial idea behind this is to reimagine zombie maps. Some will be very different while others just have added content to be more complex. I started this about a year ago and forgot about it, but now that I have found it again and with the DICE Summit I think this is a good idea for a post as at least some of these changes could happen in the future. I may add onto this with the Black Ops maps at a later date and then the World at War maps, depending on if I feel they could have additional features or if they need improvements.

Black Ops 2 maps:

Tranzit Changes:

Tranzit is the most heavily changed map. Though its layout is the same, the mechanics are very different. Fog exists but it is in the same fashion as Call of the Dead where it fades in depending on the round. Ash can still be found around the air. Also lava is toned down but as a result more fire exists. The lava pool in town still exists but is much more lower in the ground, yet in Grief it is still the same as before. The bank is removed but the fridge remains.

Denizens do exist but only attack in the cornfields and are very scarce, only appearing a few times. The zombies that set on fire can still survive but will become slower and almost become the Napalm zombie from Shangri La. The Avogadro is mostly the same, except it will also be able to fuel zombies with an electric charge which makes them faster for a few moments but then die as a result.

The bus has also changed a lot. There will be a ticket booth in the depot which can be activated to call the bus back to the depot. Also there is a ticket booth outside the power station which does the same. This works a lot like the tank in Origins as it costs the same amount of points. Also, knifing the driver will only throw that player off of the bus. The bus has less windows, only having two and zombies will not tend to attack and instead will chase the bus like the tank. A radio can also be found on the bus.

The Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23 works more like the Paralyzer and does not break. It does not let players fly though but is a very powerful weapon. It can also be upgraded which gives it another damage increase.

Nuketown Changes:

As Nuketown is essentially a map that has only the purpose to be played and give some contextual knowledge, I would keep it mostly the same. However, I would make the box rotation more Black Ops orientated and have the characters have personalities. Also, when spawning in the CIA would make remarks about a CDC group who had lost contact upon arrival. There would be more radios that hinted at the outside worlds situation as well.

Die Rise Changes:

The map layout for Die Rise is the same but it is now set at night. Like the description said, this map actually has crumbling corners. At random this will happen and if you are standing in the wrong place at the wrong time, you will fall to your death. The bank is removed but the fridge remains, but it only exists on the roof.

Also, their is an arsenal of Wunder Weapons, not just the Sliquifier. In the empty area near the MP5, you will find another crafting bench. There will be four pieces around which craft together and make a new wunder weapon. This weapon is known as the Igniter and is like a flame thrower. It is made from a lighter and a deodorant spray can, making it shoot fire but in three bursts. Another Wunder Weapon can be found from the box which is a small hand cannon which shoots laser pellets known as the Electro Cannon. This does not do much damage in high rounds but can be a useful asset. Also, this weapon can be used as a melee weapon as it acts as a form of bayonet. They are meant to be one shot weapons, ones which would not return but make game play fun within the map, also they are based on the buildable weapons style.

Grief mode is also in this map with the same kind of characters. It works like other maps but Nova Crawlers do not spawn. Also, Juggernog is removed. The Wunder Weapons are one per person but all are in the box aside from the Sliquifier.

Mob of the Dead Changes:

All things are kept the same but some new content is added such as: Grief on the GG-Bridge, Dream Catchers Tomahawk Easter Egg and Birdman of Alcatraz DLC.

Grief: On the Golden Gate Bridge you must survive with 2 box locations on each side and a rotating Perk/ Pack a Punch which is moved by a crane and lasts for 2 rounds and then cycles through randomly.

A round after the Redeemer is obtained by 1 player, the Dream Catchers will jump out of their portals and roam either the Docks, Roof or Cell Block only attacking the player when in their area. They are difficult to kill, their drops are randomised but when all are killed a Perk drop will be given to all players.

The Birdman of Alcatraz:

A new expansion is added to Mob of the Dead, this is an optional expansion that can be toggled on or off in the main menu. Upon spawning you will find everything is the same, except the outside of the map, roof and docks are covered in a black fog. Spawning much like Brutus does will be the Birdman, a slender, humanoid figure with wings for arms, black feathers, glowing red eyes and a beak that has sharp teeth. This will pick players up and take them upwards before dropping them and killing them. He can be shot to keep him at bay but we warned, when you hear the Birdman call, somebody will rise and somebody will fall.

Upon finishing the main Easter Egg, you will find a new Easter Egg which lets you retrieve note pages from the original Birdman. You may even visit his original cell and find a bird cage which can be knifed multiple times to complete another step of the Easter Egg. Upon going on the Icarus, you will find that the Birdman is following you. No matter what you do, you cannot stop him. He will bump into the plane and send it falling. You will land in the debris of the plane. You are on some sort of island made out of dark stone. It is very cracked and has skeletons all over it. Around you is the darkness and the ocean. A fight will commence between you and the Birdman. He is difficult to kill but upon killing him you will be awarded with all perks and the ability to return to the prison, never to be plagued by him again. At the prison, you will find a ghost wandering in the wardens office. This ghost is of the warden. He doesn’t interact with the player and is just their for storyline purposes.

Buried Changes:

The map layout for Buried is similar to before though a lot of things have been changed. No bank can be found, debris cannot be broken by the Big Guy and when buying a question mark chalk, a random wall weapon will be placed their and stay for the remainder of the game. Also the map is much darker in tone and feels more enclosed underground.

The Raygun Mark 2 is Buildable and has involvement in the EE quests. The Big Guy has a very in depth story and is used in the EE steps. Also the Ghosts House is very hard to traverse through, the Target Aim step is replaced by the search for the ghost that is weeping somewhere in the house. Upon finding her she will attack you and you must throw the timebomb onto her and activate it. This will bring you to the past and show you how she died. Lets just say it isn’t gruesome by any means but is creepy all the same.

The Big Guy is locked in his cell and can only escape when he opens it, he will walk around the map like normal and will respond to Booze and Candy doings less tasks than usual but still doing them. If he isn't given either items for 3 rounds he will hit the players, once making them red and the second time downing them. His story revolves around the sheriff locking him away and how they feared him, when the apocalypse came he locked his own cell. His personality is more complex he talks the same but with little secrets hidden in his words.

The ending to Buried is very different than before. You will be in the past with black and white vision and will find you are in a normal western town. Things begin to shake and shift, causing the town to somehow push underground whilst travelling through time. Upon arriving at the normal Buried location, you will hear yourself talking. Now, you have the choice to decide who you help (as up to here in this Easter Egg both sides are neutral and follow all steps) you must go to either the noose or the guillotine. Whilst standing next to it you must let the undead ravage you. When this has happened, players will spawn back up at the top. The Rift is now pulsing red. You must jump into it. Then all players will be respawned in front of the tower, away from zombies. Maxis or Richtofen will slowly begin to gain power, but it is strugglesome.  Now you must decide. Do they win? Letting them win causes the world to be decimated once more. Time will rewind and all of these events will repeat, meaning there is no victor. But, if players focus all grenades and firepower on the tower, it will not be able to cope and will fall into the rift. Maxis will be angry, until Richtofen himself reminds him that Samantha was his goal, not control over the undead. He agrees and they both decide that they know what is best. But before they can heal the world together, a new voice comes into play. A gravelly voice that states that the world shall not be healed. Something unseen before takes over the undead and they begin to climb over to the players. Infinity mod begins once more and the screen turns black and white, making the undead invisible. Game Over.

Origins Changes:

Instead of three giants, there is just one. This giant has no name and will chase down players, grabbing them and crushing them if he finds them, though he can step on them too. Richtofen will act surprised, saying that they did not create this abomination. Also, Pack a Punch appears inside of this, instead of on the mound.

Origins itself is barely changed, aside from the sky which is a much more brownish colour and even more of the gritty feeling returns. Samantha is no longer American and actually taunts players about helping her. They agree but seem almost ready to deny her help. The end cutscene is still shown but then something else happens. In game, a new cutscene begins. Falling from Agartha is Samantha, looking as she did in Moon. Then darkness begins to shroud her and she gains glowing yellow eyes. The group run, as fast as possible. Richtofen collects Maxis’ brain. Upon leaving the Crazy Place they find that everything is in utter chaos. The giant stands in front of them, they begin to get their guns ready. Lock and Load.

To me this wouldn't be much of a remake as a LOT of gameplay mechanics have been changed. The idea of re-making maps revolves around the idea that one can re-experience the maps from last-gen on current gen. But exist in basically the same way. Some of the characters may be changed, some bugs fixed, some things like the tranzit-bus-booth or some radios added, but nothing like the bird-man, the origins robots, and the build able RGM2.

Thats why I said it isn't just fixing them but its adding stuff too them as well, they arent mostly meant to be the same maps. Also the birdman thing is an option DLC so its not even story changing.
