As I keep repeating the Easter Egg, I get more disappointed with the monotonous steps that Treyarch as recycled to make the quest seem "fuller". How many times do we have to endure "kill X amount of zombies" steps during an EE? The Keeper charging step is one thing, but the upgrade your bows using the kill limit twice only to have it reappear again later on? It gets tiresome.

And the whole one-try-per-round step is quite infuriating. All it does is punish you for not being quick enough to complete a certain objective or for failing to do it correctly. C'mon, at least just reset the step and make us do it again - don't have us wait an ENTIRE round just to kick it back up resulting in an Easter Egg that'll make you finish at like Round 29. Incredulous.

Surely I can't be the only one getting irritated with this approach? I'm not even mad at the creativity behind the quests; just annoyed on the process of certain elements of progression.

Agreed. artificial difficulty is just poor game design. Sadly, it's also a staple of EE progression in Zombies...

  2. So does the clock actually NEED to be stopped on 9:35 for the main EE? I was just playing a round and was able to shoot the teleporter and trigger the sparks without stopping the clock. I think that particular step may only be necessary for the secondary time-travel to get the plunger and grow the plant.

  3. Found another strange bug. Put the shield together today and picked it up, but Instead of the usual shield icon on the HUD with the 3 rocket charges, there was no icon and a 2 offset to the left. When I tried to pull it out, I had an infinite supply of claymores instead of the shield, but when I placed them they just sat on the ground and didn't do anything...

I'll try to get video of that and the fire stone bug I posted about earlier. I guess just view the clips and then share to youtube from my PSN?

EDIT: I'm finding all of them, I guess... Just had a round where I couldn't switch to my bow after starting the wolf bow upgrade quest. Either that, or it's because of the Turned PaP type. Does it not let you switch weapons while you have turned zombies running around?

  4. I noticed on all the shields around DE there are three other symbols on the shields besides the large dragon face (an explosion, lightning bolts and a crescent shaped thing). I was curious about what they could be, and now seeing that they were still on the shields even back before the two wolves became a dragon instead, I'm even more curious...

  5. The fire upgrade path appears to be bugged. I've tried to start the quest in three different games and can only get the broken arrow. After a rocket test fire, I run straight out of the tunnel and shoot the glowing stone with my bow to trigger the fireball and nothing happens.

Aside from that, though, I love the map. Especially the bow. Man, I love that bow.

I never said it was plucked from the pages, they've taken a story and made it their own, same as the nazi lore, same as Alcatraz, same as the end of the world scenario. We'll just have to see as more maps come out.

No, you didn't. I'm talking about the people saying that the Shadowman is nyarlathotep, the creature in the sky is Cthulhu and the parasites are Mi-Go. I'm not just talking this thread, either. People are running with the mythos theories... I've even seen Yog-Sothoth and Shub-Nigurath name dropped.

  7. I see a lot of people on here trying to tie Zombies in directly with Lovecraft's works, but everything in SoE suggests that the Mythos is inspiration for the Overlords and all that, not plucked straight from the page. The shadowman bears no resemblance to Nyarlathotep save for the name "Shadowman" being similar to the description of one of Nyarl's forms. Obviously the parasites are inspired by Mi-Go, but are not called Mi-Go, and Lovecraft never wrote about any Overlords or a race of three-headed roid monsters.

I'm just curious, I known this is on last gen, but how come he's not holding the "Summoning Key". It almost looks as if it's not even in his hand.

Being that the "Apothicon Servant" upgrade was supposedly patched in recently, I feel as if it's during this phase of the Main Quest, where one can obtain the "Cocoon".

There are so many different things going on during this, that I feel like no-one really takes the time to explore. Everyone just charges the "Totem" and immediately summons the "Keepers".

Yet none of this explains why the "Purple Apothicon Symbols" appear. Sure to hurt you, but I call bullshit, no way that's the only reason. Has anyone checked since the update to see if that one in the Footlight District is no longer under the car.

Yeah, I got nothing on the cocoons, but the key is in his hand in that pic. I think his right hand is just glitched downward instead of up holding the key, but it's there.

Someone tried to say in the lobby that you aren't supposed to shoot the shadow man during the flag rituals??

Complete BS. Shooting him stops him from summoning in a bunch of wasps that will make your life miserable during the flag ritual.

  10. The change occurs after you complete all the PaP rituals. EE spoilers below

    Spoiler

It's meant to visually represent the change from ally to antagonist that occurs in the Shadowman after completing PaP. He reveals that he wasn't helping you save the world from a great evil, but was working for the evil and using you to help it. After this he stops helping and starts actively trying to kill the players as they progress through the EE.

    Welcome to the site!

You'll have to forgive me for going canon lawyer on you here, but the original lines refer to finding Sam's various stuffed animals across the map, as we did in Der Riese, but not to a game with Fluffy. Based on the dialogue, Sam's old game was intended to light an interdimensional beacon, making it a cosmic game of hide and seek. Maxis says 'there must be a purpose to this.' And in finishing the game, you realize that the purpose all along was to light the beacon so that you could be 'found'.

The Spoked Universe Theory is, perhaps the best Multiversal theory I have ever heard suggested, however.

Yeah, I was aware of Sam's original lines in Der Riese, but I thought those were also in reference to her playing with fluffy in the lab. It's been a while since I listened to all the audio logs though, which is where I thought I remembered that from.

EDIT: Yeah, after a quick refresher, you're right. Maxis and Richtofen were experimenting on Fluffy when Sam walked in... There's a line from Maxis in that radio that I remembered wrong (He yells at Sam that he told her to never go in there, which I thought was him telling her not to play in the lab in a different radio =P). Still the fact that he says that hints that it isn't origins Maxis in the Giant.

  12. By round 12, you can have a LOT done already if you know what you're doing and you're using your points wisely. This post will be less "How to kill the Panzer Soldat" and more how to get a good start so you can be prepared for it:

    - Use your starting pistol for the first 2 rounds, but make sure to kill with the knife. Shoot a zombie 4-5 times in the chest (I usually only go 4 to be safe) on round 1, and 5-6 on round 2 then finish them with the knife. That'll maximize your points for those rounds. If you run out of ammo on round 2, just knife them twice.

    - Wallbuy the RK5 on either round 1 or 2. It's amazing for early rounds, just don't use it before round 3, or it will kill the zombies in one burst, yielding less points than a knife kill. On round 3-4 you can hit a zombie with one burst then finish them with a knife (just be careful you don't get downed going in for a knife on a zombie with a posse).

    - Always head to power from the lower door so you can do the first dragon in the lower courtyard asap. It can be done as soon as you reach it. Also, do the other dragons as soon as power is on and grab the bow. Remember that you have to wait for the dragons to swallow the zombies before you can feed it another. Only kills after or shortly before the dragon finishes swallowing will be picked up. Patience and proper zombie training skills are the keys to getting the bow early on.

    - BUILD THE SHIELD. As soon as power is on, you should be turning on anti-gravity and building the shield. Leave a last zombie and do it before the end of that very round.

    - Lastly, avoid the box until you already have a decent set-up. That means the bow in one hand, a good wallbuy in the other, Jug, quick-revive if playing solo, and a gobblegum. Unless you absolutely must have the Ray-gun, the box is a double-edged sword that's not worth playing with unless you can afford to lose.

  13. So, if you haven't done Hide and Seek yet on the Giant, the dialogue has changed from the original Sam lines (obviously). Now, instead we get Maxis lamenting the loss of his daughter and then being confused about the purpose of seeking out the items. Once you find them all, however, it's as if Maxis comes to his senses after being half-asleep. He exclaims "The beacon is lit! I now know where and when you are! Sooner or later, they will find you... We must work together to ensure the future of the children".

So, some might assume this to be Maxis from the origins universe, but I don't think it is. When you start the EE, he says "Let's play hide and seek... Those were her exact words". If I'm not mistaken (and feel free to correct me if I am) that would be referring to a game of hide and seek with a certain puppy dog that went very wrong at the giant, correct? So this is a version of Maxis who went through the teleporter with Sam and Fluffy and eventually made it to Agartha. We only know of one other Maxis who did this, right? So does that mean that the Maxis from one of the Blops II universes is still relevant? Helping right his wrongs across the multiverse since his initial goal of saving Sam was already achieved by the Origins 4? Maybe he's doing it because he owes them one for freeing his daughter's soul.

For clarification, all of this is operating on my head-canon/theory that the various universes are all spokes on a wheel, and that the hub is Agartha (in mythology Agartha is a city at the center of the world, so maybe in Zombies it's a dimension at the center of the multiverse).

  14. I suck at intro posts... *deep breath* okay, here we go (The ritual has begun!):

So, let's get the stating the obvious out of the way. I'm Mike, and I play a lot of zombies. Looking for some people to play with regularly who know what they're doing. To clarify, I'm looking to play with people who know how to do the easter eggs, leave a last zombie, NOT point horde and spam the box, and can hold their own into higher rounds. I did have a mic, but it vanished recently, so I need to get a new one. That won't be happening for a month or two, so be prepared to deal with a lot of character model head nodding and head shaking responses for a while =P

If that all sounds pretty okay to you, feel free to add me on PS4. My PSN is MikeCirka.
