  1. If Eddie is not Richtofen, the ciphers are completely irrelevant. I find it hard to believe that Treyarch would create something so difficult to decrypt just to give unnecessary backstory about Richtofen's early life.

  2. Samantha must be voiced by a different votive actor. She is American in Origins.

One theory that I have suggested is that there are two Samanthas. The first one (in ending cutscene) died around the end of WW1, and the second one was born in the late 1930s in a more German climate as Ludwig wanted his daughter back. He even got her a dog with the same name (but a German Shepherd instead of a beagle). All of this explains Richtofen's age during the main events of the zombie storyline. It is an unlikely theory, but not impossible by any means.

  3. Why is no one else connecting the ciphers to the ending cinematic? Edward Richtofen was a teenager genius adopted by Ludwig Maxis after the former's parents died. They worked together investigating Divinium. Edward, however, was cooperating with Group 935 to build weapons against the Allies. Does anyone not see this as strikingly relevant?

  4. An oldie but a goodie (that I regretfully believed at the time); In Nacht der Untoten, hit the box, spin around, and shoot the back of the of the box and the radio to get either the Browning or the Ray Gun.

There were many Mystery Box rumors from Nacht to Ascension. I remember that there were multiple videos of people not even showing what actual weapon they got and obviously edited-in double Ray Guns. The funniest faker was a guy on YouTube who did a slow-mo replay of himself spinning around and firing everywhere like it was to be done professionally and with tactic.

Oh, and it didn't work the first 20 times? You're doing it wrong.
  5. But that's my point. I don't think the alternate reality thing is true either, but it is a possibility. I was just illustrating that in Zombies even the most basic of things can never be said to be confirmed.

Nope. You are wrong because I am too unintelligent to provide reasoning or even understand the theory.

  6. You people are arrogant.

You sound arrogant yourself right there.

Not really, but you are entitled to your own opinion. I am not going to make a thread over the slight possibility that my theory might not be correct, and I am not going to compare it to shooting dung bullets at gnomes.

Relax; I am talking about the majority of the community here and their complete, unchangeable understanding of Origins before it is even released.

  7. Thoughts? Did I miss any other inconsistencies?

IIRC the Tunguska meteor landed in the 1940s, and the Origins cinematic showed one that landed in a swamp. It is possible, however, that it could just be a different meteor.

It is 100% a different meteor, seeing as there is no reference to it being the Tunguska meteor and the fact that it is located in a swamp, whereas the Tunguska meteor landed in the icy tundra of Siberia. Plus the Tunguska meteor created an enormous crater.

Oh, sorry. I meant the meteor in Shi No Numa.

  8. This isn't an alternate reality. It's being called a prequel for a reason. It's the beginning to the story we know and love.

The choice of words doesn't cover the large amount of time inconsistencies.

Why do you people want an alternate reality so much? Just...no.

    1. ...Because choose to believe it. Why do you people not want an alternate reality so much?

2.Very elaborate counter-argument you made there. "Just...no" should be the mantra of debate clubs.

Time consistencies such as the weapons and such? Easily explained. Germans developed them or aliens, but since all the crazy crap happened they all couldn't be used, or salvaged rather. Weapons could also be prototypes, but most likely they just put them in there because they thought we'd realize that the weapons have been inconstant before. It also isn't relevant if Samantha is going back to the past.

I haven't considered the Mystery Box's options very canonical. I was talking about many of the things mentioned in this thread:http://www.callofdutyzombies.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=155&t=35180

Why I don't want it to be an alternate reality is because it's supposed to be a prequel. Makes it seem as if everything else is for nothing. Not to mention, it would render the whole point of the towers pointless. Saying just no was not a counter argument. This would be my counter argument for why it's a stupid idea (no offense to those who want it).

It seems timelines can be connected by time travel. It is still possible for this to be a prequel in the community's meaning of the word AND in an alternate reality, but the answer would be quite confusing.

As for the towers, they were part of the N4 saga. I find it a bad choice of what else to do on Treyarch's part. However, if I was connecting the saga to DLC4, I would make Maxis's ending to save Samantha from Agartha very relevant.

  9. Thoughts? Did I miss any other inconsistencies?

  10. Interestingly enough Richtofen in his letters, is acting and sounding a lot like Maxis did (Pre-Der Reise and Samantha entering the MPD), while Maxis seems to be a jobbling lunatic here.

    Exactly.

This isn't an alternate reality. It's being called a prequel for a reason. It's the beginning to the story we know and love.

As for Samantha, it just.. I'm sure it will be her, I just don't see how. She simply shouldn't be alive. As of 1942, she was between 6-10 years old, according to the terminal. I'm baffled. Seems like it should be Sophia or someone. But like I said, I'm sure it'll be Samantha.

The theory is applied; it explains Samantha's early presence. The only other reason I can think of is that she doesn't age, and that has much less merit than the theory.

Yeah an alternate reality would be too out there,

If this is an alternate reality then in BO3 we might as well be in an alternate reality where we all have heads of ducks and shoot dung bullets at gnomes, the amount of questions, possibilities and paradoxes an alternate reality would bring up would be too high

Slippery slope fallacy? Really? The alternate reality theory seems to be Treyarch's way out of time travel paradoxes. Also, again, "would be too out there" is another famous counter-argument for the books.

  11. Edward's second letter is more evidence for my theory. This is an alternate reality where many things have happened earlier and many roles are switched. As I have said before, this is most likely a world where Maxis is insane and interested in unusual sciences while Richtofen is the head of Group 935's Element 115 excavations in France. They also probably had hostilities.

EDIT: I'm not seeing anything that convinces me this girl is Samantha, yet.

I agree. However, if it is Samantha, this may be an alternate reality where he spent more time with her (like he wishes he did in the last Moon radio).

  12. Anyway, the real trick here is figuring out how the HELL this fits into the story.

Speculation: This is the only timeline in which the end is different (and possibly the earliest). There could be intervention by the Moon O4, future Maxis, future Richtofen, Samantha, etc. The main questions seem to be if Samantha is completely omniscient, and, if so, which timeline she exists to narrate. Is she saying this is the beginning and the end of this reality, or is it that of the entire zombies storyline?

  13. You could just as easily explain that by saying that they meant that Zombies in general aren't real, which makes Zombies in WW1 and so forth an alternate reality, since you're playing in a setting based off a real location and a real set of events along with some things like the zombies that were never real.

    That's a bit of a stretch.

  14. Alternate timelines explain the earlier dates for the German weapons, Maxis, and the Tunguska meteor. Now all we need is an explanation for the giant robot, the diesel drones, the air battle, how Samantha is the announcer, and how it makes any sense that this is where the story began.
