  1. A lighter version of my piracy topic in Deep Thought.

Some developers are aware of piracy so they use methods which usually render the game unplayable.

Here's a list of some anti piracy methods in gaming. With videos

    earthbound-snes-logo-73932.png

    Platform: SNES

Probably the most known anti piracy method.

In Earthbound, if the game was pirated, the game would have much harder enemies. Not much a detterant is it?

The biggest "fuck you" to pirates occurs during the last battle with Gigyas, where the game would freeze, you'd also get a really creepy disorted sound (sometimes) and when you restarted your SNES, you'd find out Earthbound deleted your save!!

That save you put so many hours into, gone because you pirated it. :P

    Video:

    spyro_year_of_the_dragon_001.gif

    Platform: PlayStation 1.

Spyro 3's anti piracy method was a bit like Earthbound.

If you had a hacked copy, Zoe (the checkpoint fairy) would appear in the first world and forewarns you of the glitches and problems that would occur.

    So what happens?

Well,  some gems and eggs wouldn't spawn, likewise some portals wouldn't open even if the player had the required amountof eggs.

Music would also be messed up.

Finally, in the final boss battle with the Sorceress, the boss would have the first level's music (very unfitting) and the second you hit her, the game quickly reloads Sunrise Spring as it would any other level.... however all eggs and gems you obtained were lost... rendering the game unbeatable.

    Anti piracy warning:

    The piracy effect in action:

    Platform: PC

This game is pretty popular at the moment.

According to the Five Nights At Freddy's wiki, if you pirated this game, everytime you went to close the game, a jumpscare/screamer happens of Freddy Fazbear.

Aside from that, the pirated version is still the same as the genunine version.

    51SAXq1OSVL.jpg

    Platform: PC

I couldn't find the PC cover.

Anyway, this game probably has the most humiliating anti piracy method.

This game is an erotic game....

Now, when you pirate this game, the game takes a screenshot of your desktop and uploads it to a server for all to see, which you can request for it to be removed IF you acknowledge you pirated this game. :P

A few of the pics uploaded were of the pirates on hentai sites.... so yeah, pretty embarassing.

    GTA_IV_Logo_Transparent.png

    Platform: PC

GTA IV's anti piracy is tame compared to the others, however it does become really annoying and becomes unplayable.

If you're discovered with a pirated copy, the game will force itself to go into "drunk cam" mode, which gets worse the longer you play.

Eventually, the screen is swaying left and right that fast you can't see anything.

    Video:

    Pokemon-logo.jpg

    Platform: Nintendo DS/DSi

On the Nintendo DS versions at least, (Or at least according to ROM sites) a pirated Pokemon game won't even boot.

Your game freezes before the title screen. Rendering it completely unplayable.

    Donkey_Kong_Country_2_Diddy_Kong_Quest.p

    Platform: SNES

Possibly, I am unsure on this.

    Video:

    Puggys.png

    Platform: Sega Genesis

The game would act normal until you beat the first boss or reach level 5, where the game would fade out and you'd have a message from the devs telling you to get rid of "this silly copy" with really creepy music playing in the background.

    The game would then restart.

    Video:

So what anti piracy methods in gaming do you know of?

    How cruel are they?

  2. So, anyone disapointed by the Flight School DLC?

I am, they didn't even patch the god mode FFS.

Speaking of that, I got banned from Reddit's /r/GTAGlitches for admitting to reporting people who use god mode.

    Pathetic at the maximum level.

  3. It is really good.

Been playing since '08 still as fun as ever.

It's one of those games where you can make the character how YOU see him. Heck, you can even choose Jimmy's sexuality!

    Loads of subtle jokes too.

On Xbox it's 75% off quite often, on Steam it's like $20, on PSN you can download it for like $20 as well. (Not too sure on the price on PSN as I don't have a PS3)

  4.

    • Bully: Scholarhip Edition

Those are the games I own and have NEVER played. It seems I'm leading.

    !!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    You're missing out!!!!

How have you NOT played Bully!?!?!?

    .....

One of the best games I ever played!

Your comment irked me more than it should have!

  5. The Last of us.

    Only played it through once.

Tried to play it again 9 months afterwards.

    Was instantly bored.

    @Lenne

    Simpsons_angry_mob.png

For me, I'd have to say Dead Island.

It's OK, got it for Christmas 2012, but I find the game to be slow paced for my liking and some of the enemies are ridculous.

It's more fun with friends IMO.

  6. -Removed-

Also, does anyone remember a few weeks ago I posted a link to that GTA V map for GTA SA? Well, beta 1.0 is out. Surpisingly stable and looks so different!

(The bluriness is from the heat haze GTA SA has.)

  7. I can see where he is coming from though.

If a friend/family member of mine was killed in a serious accident, I'd be offended if a video game was made based off it. It's basically making the whole incident into entertainment.

I can bet some WW2 Veterans wouldn't be too happy if they played World at War (Or any WW2 CoD), where the hell they went through is now a entertainment product and hearing people calling others "noobs" because they died.

Also, wouldn't fit in the Zombies storyline. I guess they could make it work if 115 was found around the area, but a map where it has no 115 or storyline connection wouldn't work. Unless they managed to pull another Mob of the Dead.

  8. ^ Don't own a PS3/PS4 but I'd say go for it.

If you didn't play the PS3 version, then you haven't wasted any money buying it twice.

Also, so no one is confused, re releases are NOT remakes, like the Wii's Virtual Store (Or whatever it was called) or the old PS1/PS2 classics on the PSN Store. Those are just there for nostalgic purposes/there for people who want to experience older games.

  9. I can see why some games get "remastered", especially when good games get released towards the end of the consoles lifespan. It keeps the game freash and gives those who jump ship once a new console launches a chance to expierence it, slightly better than their older gen conuterparts.

TLOU and GTA V are great examples of this. Both are highly rated games, however, TLOU was only on PS3. Not PS4, Not Xbox 360, Not PC. GTA V was only for Xbox 360 and PS3. However, both have been remade for next gen. Both are even not 1.5 years old.

Do they deserve to be called "remasters"? No. Not at all. Unless, it was made like 8 years ago (or longer) now remade, like Pokemon for example. If it was still in GBA graphics, that'd be a shell out too. I'd say that was a remaster.

In some ways, I do think it is a moneygrab. Why don't older games like the classic Spyro trilogy get remade? Because that was in the late 90s/early 2000s and gaming wasn't as big as it is now. If, however, Spyro 3 had TLOU/GTA popularity, I'm 100000000% sure Spyro would get a PS4 remake.

  10. Has anyone heard of the player changinf glitch for SP?

    You can be ANYONE!!!

Lamar, Lester, Amanda, Chop, Fabien, Tracey, a SHARK, even JOHN MARSTON, CLAUDE SPEED and NIKO BELLIC! The list is endless.

Unlike simple character swapping, doing this also comes with animations and sounds!! (Unless you call up someone to hang out, then their voice goes back to whoever you replaced them with)

Some characters also change outfits when you go online and swap back to them. (Haven't tested but this works most with the strippers)

Here's some pics I found off that topic.

    NONE of these are mine.

  12.

My friend had Diamond and when he showed me his Pokemon, I said "Hang on, what's the difference between Diamon and Platinum?"

I honestly couldn't believe it. Release the exact same game 3 times (Diamond, Pearl and Platinum) only difference being the best Pokemon you can capture. Same story, same graphics, no newly added features.

    Absolutely pointless.

Stop right there. That's just bullshit.

Even as not a big pokemon fan now, I can tell you Platinum has enough changes and added features to make it worth considering a purchase, even if you played through Diamond or Pearl.

If I remember correctly Platinum has: significant changes to story, graphics, pokémon, sidequests and overall gameplay.

And don't gimme that: oh but my friend told me so - crap.

Look up things yourself before making up your false statements.

It wasn't "friend told me so" at all, we went to trade Pokemon (He went to give me some level 40 Machamp for a level 4 Bidoof so I could have a head start as I was new to the game at the time)

Also please explain how the story is different?

Bully was remade on Xbox 360/PC/Wii and that was the same story with 5 new storyline missions. Under a new name. Bully: Scholarship Edition. Kinda like Pokemon Platinum.

Either way, still the same story.

  13. FIFA.

When I was younger, I used to really enjoy Football. I was a huge Manchester United fan, used to play football every break at school and had all the FIFAs from FIFA 2001 to FIFA 07. (This was back in 2007)

Then one day I was playing FIFA 07 and a thought occured to me. It's the same game as FIFA 06. Just a different main menu, soundtrack and a few new and removed teams.

So I decided to look up some FIFA 08 gameplay when that came out. Exactly the same as FIFA 07, just with the changes above.

Granted, if I only had FIFA 2003 and then went to FIFA 08, it will probably feel like a brand new game but since I owned FIFA 2003 -> 07, it'll just be the same game.

    Pokemon.

Don't get me wrong, Pokemon is OK. My first Pokemon was Platinum on the DS.

My friend had Diamond and when he showed me his Pokemon, I said "Hang on, what's the difference between Diamon and Platinum?"

"On Platinum, you get to capture both Dialga and Palkia without trading, on Diamond, it's the same but you can only capture Dialga."

I honestly couldn't believe it. Release the exact same game 3 times (Diamond, Pearl and Platinum) only difference being the best Pokemon you can capture. Same story, same graphics, no newly added features.

That's like Activision releasing "Call of Duty: Black Ops" and "Call of Duty: White Ops" and the difference being a gun you get a level 50.

    Absolutely pointless.

Also my version of every Pokemon game

10 year old boy/girl meets someone who offers them a Grass/Fire/Water Pokemon and their friend/rival takes the one you chose weakness you have a battle, you win you then meet someone who shows you how to use a Pokeball, gives you some then you try and take over all the Pokemon gyms in the reigon and have battles between your rival whilst doing that before taking on the "Elite 4" to which you win.

    Game completed.

At least in COD the story changes everytime it comes out. Yeah the US is under attack, but with Black Ops 2, you may not be able to save America.

  14. I was playing GTA San Andreas Multiplayer earlier and it's much closer to GTA Online than I remember.

    Tanks are the norm. 8)

    sa_mp_005.png

(Server does allow infinite ammo, so I'm not cheating)

Me in a tank. (Much like GTA Online hahaha)

    sa_mp_013.png

Also, I want to have a rant here about GTA Online's community.

I hate cheaters online. I hate them in Call of Duty, I hate them in Mario Kart, I hate them in GTA.

The only glitches/cheats I like are the ones that even the playing field for everyone. Like SP2MP glitch, helps lower levels have fully modded cars, therefore giving them a chance to win a race.

However, Reddit's /r/grandtheftautov seem to think glitches are the only way to make GTA Online fun.

Honestly, when I reached level 100 and fully modded my Dominator, I felt like I accomplished something in this game, as opposed to "hahah im so ultra cool cos i glitched $12 million"

Get on my level. I honestly think I'm the only person who plays GTA the way it's meant to be played. I don't do any stupid glitches like character changing to get those stupid overrated beer hats, I don't do that dead hooker glitch.

Most of my $7 million is legit (I did save some Adders from the Christmas chaos) and it's honestly quite insulting to have it shat all over by 12 year olds who cry because they get beaten by people like me in races and DM's.

The other day I was in a lobby with a wall breacher. So, I did the wallbreach and killed him.

He tried to kill me 4 times, failed all of them. Even more proof glitchers cannot play this game right.

Because I expressed my opinion towards this glitch, I got downvoted and pretty much told "This is how GTA is meant to be played" by Reddit. Yeah fucking right. I can bet 75% of GTA Online have never played any other GTA in their life.

90% of that 75% probably haven't beaten the story yet.

Hell, I even check some peoples achievements and most of them haven't even done the first Jewel Store Heist yet.

TL:DR Glitchers are not as good as me.
