  1. Hey @ good call on the reintroduction.

    Glad we can have you back more often, sorry about the job though (but I guess seasonally laid off is better than fully laid off, right?)

  2. Okay okay okay, how about this - they have to have been a member for 3 years to be considered towards induction. No guarantee - still based on a scale of what they, as an individual, have done for CODZ.

    I actually agree with @ in regards to the UOTM. let's leave UOTM out of this running.

  3. 4/30 Update: Leonard Reiffel

    In the BO3 "Only the Cursed Survive" poster, there is a cityscape at the bottom which has been revealed to be Chicago (thanks to @PINNAZ )

    It got me to researching Chicago, and it's notable citizens whom could possibly relate to the zombies storyline.  There was an individual by the name of Leonard Reiffel, and the man has collaborated with members of Operation Paperclip.

    Specifically (borrowing from wiki), "Reiffel collaborated with German scientists recruited in America as part of Operation Paperclip, working on an early prototype for a railgun."

    At the University of Chicago's Institute for Nuclear Studies, Reiffel helped construct a Cyclotron (high energy beam, particle accelerator).

    Imagine how shocked I was to learn that Leonard Reiffel led Project A119 - the plan to detonate a nuclear warhead on the moon.  (more information on Project A119 Below)

    Reiffel also was a consultant to NASA on the Apollo program about the chance of there being life on the Moon (he later became deputy director of the "life on the moon" project).

    Will Chicago have any significance, other then a location?  Hard to say.  If we're able to time travel, anythings possible - even going through with Project A119 (whatever that would achieve).  Regardless, Reiffel's connection the Moon, and the nazis is interesting.

    Just food for thought, really.

    450px-Study_of_Lunar_Research_Flights_-_

    Project A119, also known as "A Study of Lunar Research Flights", was a top-secret plan developed in 1958 by the United States Air Force. The aim of the project was to detonate a nuclear bomb on the Moon which would help in answering some of the mysteries in planetary astronomy and astrogeology, and had the explosive device not entered into a lunar crater, the flash of explosive light would have been faintly visible to people on earth with their naked eye, a show of force resulting in a possible boosting of domestic morale in the capabilities of the United States, a boost that was needed after the Soviet Union took an early lead in the Space Race and who were also working on a similar project.

    Neither the Soviet project E-4 nor the US Project A119 were ever carried out, being cancelled primarily out of a fear of a negative public reaction, with the potential militarization of space that it would also have signified, and because a moon landing would undoubtedly be a more popular achievement in the eyes of the American and international public alike.

    There you have it, a plan to blow up the Moon.  One could only imagine there may be ulterior motives behind such a test.

    I've not gotten to reading it yet.

  4. Well, as is mentioned in the description for the Hall of Famers, each individual case is unique. @AlphaSnake and @Phantom you should be aware of why they're a part of this group. @Ibanez was a long standing member and staff member who put a lot of work into moderating the form. @shri046 was another staff member who actually worked a great deal on a lot of the early features for the site including the forum skin as well as the interactive Der Riese map. @Telixion is a fantastic guy who helped out a lot with the early Zombies storyline as well as various map strategies. @Vosty3 is yet another fantastic all around amazing guy who was extremely involved in the WaW and BO days with finding storyline hints. He was also a CoD VIP with @carbonfibah and we had a great connection with him and his site, WeTheGamerz.

    Looking at the list of Hall of Famers, I do think there should be a change in description so that we can really highlight fantastic members without them having to have achieved a Staff position. I do also agree that there needs to be an adjustment of the requirement for Veteran status. Though I don't know if I'd approve of making it a 4 year requirement. There should be other requirements as well.

    Thanks @Covert Gunman I knew you'd be able to help us out with the specifics  :Thumbs:

    In the Hall of Fame description we have, it actually does not list being staff/retired staff as a requirement:

    When you see a "Hall of Famer", you are seeing an exceptional user who has added to CODZ in monumental ways. Each individual is different, and it's quite hard to sum it up in once sentence - but basically anyone with this title has brought excellence & progress to CODZ in the form of content, back end work, overall presence, and knowledge.

    When writing the description - I tried to keep the focus is on the individual being exceptional.  But I can totally see how it's too vague.  Perhaps (on top of workshopping the description), we could create some sort of a thread that has a log of what the Hall of Famer's have done?  We could put a link in the description for people to go to the page, and view all the reasons for each individual Hall of Fame member.

    I'm all for some more requirements for Veteran status, the whole idea of 4 years was off the cuff to begin with.  So like, throw in some post count, brains, UOTM, that kind of stuff?  Or are we going to use criteria beyond the numbers (Mason)?

    I can see the point to both sides of this and I'm right in the middle. So I say, why not both?

    That's a good point @ - I think that a balance of new active inductees, and inductees (like MMX, Shooter, etc.) who have (seemingly) "moved on" from CODZ is the way to go.  Everyone's happy.  That's just my opinion though, we'll have to here from virtually all other staff (on this) - and it will certainly be prioritized at our next meeting as a topic of discussion.

  5. @GRILL Actually, the trailer was just released today announcing that it's whole new Zombies mode, but you're correct, the actual footage has been around for a while. I was quite disappointed. I was hoping to see some actual in game footage rather than previous cut scene footage rehashed together with Season Pass info.

    @Covert Gunman that's totally what I meant, my bad haha.

    Yeah I was hoping for an actual tease.  I believe we'll get a glimpse pretty soon, it's December now - and the hype train for AW: DLC1 needs to kick in full gear. I check CharlieIntel daily, as they are all about Call of Duty.

    @Tac the bonus wave is alright.  It's cool because AW does try and make it cinematic.  On top of that, it's chaotic because you have to find guns on the ground.  Still - I was able to train the zombies all the same.  It seemed like you could absorb as many hits as you would with jug, so that's a plus (although one of the things I love about zombies is the difficulty level - i.e. 2 hits your dead w/o jug).

  6. When I look at the current list of Hall of Famers, it seems like having been Carbonfibah's friend around the WaW and GKNova6 days counts for way more than it should.  Most of them have less than 200 posts and haven't logged on in years.

    - Mix

    @MixMasterNut yeah, I sort of got at that a little bit in my above post when I said that ideally new inductee's will be active members.  We as a staff didn't feel it was our place to remove anyone already "grandfathered" under the previous Legendary (currently HoF) listing.  I can say that I never knew many of them, but they were put there for a reason - and we are going to respect that.

    Our two active Hall of Famer's are Phantom & Alpha, and I'd love to add some more.  We'll be having a staff meeting here pretty soon, and this subject will be prioritized for sure.

    Actually also, @Covert Gunman would be a good person to have in this conversation.  Let's here what you think Covy, and also - if you could provide any context regarding the folks in the Hall of Fame usergroup (what they did for the site to become "legends") that would be awesome.

    EDIT:

    I would also like the usergroup of "Veterans" changed to perhaps active members that have been here for over 3 years? Rather than just retired staff members. The title & description doesn't really go together.

    Since this has been brought up a few times now might as well give it some attention. I actually agree with PINNAZ on this. We used to have a usergroup back called "Veterans" dedicated to members that have been with CoDz since the very beginning. Perhaps there could be multiple ways to become a Veteran;

    - Be a member of CoDz for 3-5ish years

    - Retired CoDz staff member

    Whichever comes first.

    Also, don't worry. I intend to get started on the year-end awards soon  ;)

    @ @PINNAZ I like it.  We need to nail down a singular value though, I think 4 years would be good - because currently we have medals for 1, 2 and 3 years on CODZ.  And what's better than a medal? Usertitle.  Usertitle for that 4th year.  I'm all for it.

  7. Ideally, we want those in the HoF to be active members.

    Those are great suggestions @PINNAZ - it's just MMX & Shooter are seemingly "done" with CODZ. I don't think we should induct anyone who hasn't been active in a certain amount of months. Maybe like 6 months? I dunno, maybe that's too harsh considering the off season. Still - MMN, the vets, and even yourself have stuck around. HoF should be role models, and the #1 priority of being a role model here is being "CODZ Faithful".

    Again, that's not to label the non-active candidates as "unfaithful" - it's just, if your HoF you've got to have the whole package (at this point)

  8. @Covert Gunman so this trailer has actually been around since AW released. This is the cutscene you see upon beating the bonus wave in exo-zombies, the only new stuff I see is about the season pass info. I say we keep this open for perhaps further trailers, though.

    So I guess we can all assume this first zombies map will be on riot? In a perfect world. They should really give Riot as a free zombie map to those who have the vanilla game.

  9. @ yeah that's why I was suggesting we could poll for the option to either have the avatar "Like" count opt-out, or remove entirely.  Personally I dig the "Likes", it will help with UOTM nominations as well - seeing as they will (ideally) be handed out much more frequently.

    We are a zombies site, and we are also a community.  The point of having both is to have the brains for zombie related stuff, and the "likes" for community stuff.  We have way more community stuff going on right now (because off season) in relation to zombies stuff, so we wanted to appeal to that and nurture our tight-knit family here.

    I say "family" because furreals, you're all my fam.  I visit this place daily, I have for years - and I'm an adult.  I'm not ashamed, I feel "at home" on CODZ.  And now I can get "likes" for just chilling around talking with my fam at home?  Awesome.

  10. Okay we can put a poll to see if people want the "like count" or not in the avatar section, if y'all like.

    I get that brains and likes are similar but im going to reiterate the difference.

    Ideally (and I know it's not always like that) brains are for posts and threads that clearly are backed by research, effort, and knowledge. Typically this would be for a zombie theory, or a terrific map guide, or a well thought out story/map idea, etc.

    Likes are for humorous, entertaining, off topic, whatever really. Less about knowing your stuff, and more about just thinking something is cool, I dunno - does that make sense?

  11.

    We really were stubborn, no one wanted to give in. I only did because if we didn't stop friendships would be ruined forever, and I think the thread probably would've been locked. I might have to reread that just to see how bad it was.

    As for the SOS, hm... It definitely brings up weird points. We definitely need to take those with a grain of salt either way. SNN itself does take place months after the war as well, so it doesn't make sense, though it would definitely point closer to Manchuria, or possibly a close by island to Japan due to no battles actually being fought in Japan's heartland involving America.

    Here's the old thread for ya :)http://callofdutyzombies.com/vBulletin/showthread.php?13906-Shi-No-Numa-is-in-China-Nikolai-was-Captured-There/

    @Tac @ZombieOfTheDead - ACTUALLY, here's the old thread for yas (tac's link was broken)  :D http://www.callofdutyzombies.com/forum/index.php/topic/173591-shi-no-numa-is-in-china-nikolai-was-captured-there/

  12. ATTENTION GENTLEFOLK OF CODZ:

    We have decided to implement a "Like" feature for content.  It is only available to staff at the moment, but we want to give you a heads up so that as soon as we make it live, you can get to the "Like"-ing!

    You may remember this idea was tossed around a while back, and ultimately was scrapped.  Why is it back, you ask?  Excellent question!

    During the on-season, brains are hard to come by - but during the off season?  Brains are pretty much non-existant!

    This isn't a bad thing, in fact it's in the nature of "Brains".  "Brains" are intended for high quality posts that have clearly required research, theorization, and extraordinary effort.  The fact of the matter is, it's the off-season, and there isn't a lot to pour research, theories and effort into.

    In comes "Likes" to save the day!

    We want you to "Like" anything, and everything.  No rules, no nothing - if you see something you enjoy, "Like" it!

    Check out what it will look like below, provided by @Hells Warrrior

    The image below shows the like option

    This image shows the likes (it will show 5 likes, then collapses)

    Hopefully you all like the "Like" system.  We still haven't decided if it will be a forum wide thing, probably.  We aren't very concerned about "like-pumping" because "likes" don't equal reputation.

    Let us know what you think.
  13. Okay so, i've played through the entire campaign - and if you are a fan of Assassin's Creed in any way whatsoever - you will enjoy this game.

    I may be lucky, but I encountered no glitches.  The game was smooth the whole way through (albeit the long loading screens).

    Funny because I rented it, and completed about 85% of the storyline - on the day I returned it, I was like "oh well I'm going to buy it" and finished the campaign.  It doesn't bother me, because there are so many side missions to do.

    On top of that, there are side missions that are murder mysteries that involve the use of your eagle vision to find clues - it's a great mechanism that I hope they continue with further AC installments.

    The only issues I had were with trying to play co-op.  Out of like 30 attempts, only 5 actually worked and let me join my friends.  It seems every new hour an issue crops up on the Uplay servers, or this and that - which restricts you from being able to do co-op.

    It's not secret that annual release games are super rushed, but this one came out very fun and very playable.  I read an article about how Ubisoft is going to be giving AC more development time, which is always a good thing - I just hope they stick to their word.

  14. @GRILL Recently played Nuketown Z again and thar reminded me of this thread. Nice read, bwains to you sir Grillos I.

    Could you elaborate on why you think Nuketown's loading screen is set in the future? It doesn't make much sense to me. Merci.

    @ thanks for them bwains,GIRLL.

    Elaborate?  why yes, yes I can. [cracks knuckles] Please pardon the rambling, but it's quite hard to respond to such a question without doing so.  Oh also, don't be surprised if this happens to you :D:

    Slh6dBU.gif

    "It doesn't make much sense to me" <----- this is a perfect place to start.

    The whole reason I made this thread is because the Nuketown Zombies loading screen made no sense to me.  The only true link between any past story elements is the 115 Extraction Drill, which apparently was technology accessible enough to be made in the early 1900's (however we really don't know what the hell ORIGINS is - and we don't know if ORIGINS occurs in the same timeline/dimension as Nuketown Zombies).

    Here are the factors that drove me to believe that the loading screen occurs in the future (also I'm using future loosely, all I'm really getting at is that I think it happens after the events of Nuketown Zombies):

    o9QyMQy.png

    (please click here for a zoomable larger version of the loading screen if you want a closer look at what I'm talking about)

    1. - Okay so here we have a 115 Drilling Device drilling a crater.  Presumably, this is the crater from the 115 rocket that happens after Nuketown Zombies (because why would a 115 Drilling Device be needed for a nuclear crater?).  The act of drilling the 115 crater can only occur once the 115 rocket collides with the earth, hence what's going on in the loading screen is in the near or distant future following the events of Nuketown Zombies.

    + The sky is blue, in Nuketown Zombies the sky is incredibly dark - and would only be made darker by the 115 rocket that comes at the end and seemingly blows it all to kingdom come.  This means that whatever we are seeing in the loading screen must be happening well after the smoke and dust dissipated.

    + There is something MASSIVE attached to the 115 Drilling Device.  A large space ship would be my first thought, considering it looks like it's just floating in mid air - but we've also had encounters with "larger then life" machines (such as the bucketwheel excavators from Moon) so it's hard to say for sure what is holding the 115 Extraction Drill in place:

    6a935f69f331f5da3bf6ff91b4d7a947.jpg

    2. - This being is wearing technology of a like we've never seen before.  There are multiple breathing tubes coming from the helmet, it's certainly not the typical Government CDC suit - this is something different, futuristic, and possibly alien (in my opinion).  This guy in the yellow jumpsuit is here for a purpose, he knows exactly where to go - what to do - how to work the extraction drill.  This is an individual who perhaps is a time traveler, but whatever they are - they are well aware of what happened in Nuketown, and came prepared to get what they need.

    Iy9m4U0.png

    + Also, just realizing this now but there is without a doubt something (of possible importance) being reflected in yellow dude's helmet.  Why do I see a Shangri-La temple?  Perhaps I'm just seeing what I want to see, or what I think I might want to see... (this doesn't have anything to do with future stuff)

    + Also also, bubbles - anyone?  Why bubbles?  Seriously, the f***? (nothing to do with the future, either - sorry haha)

    3. - Panel 3 is a mystery honestly.  It looks as if the wing of a plane/spaceship, or perhaps the side of the giant structure holding up the 115 extraction device.  When enlarged, you can clearly see a little squiggly square face on the ship - which means nothing, but is funny regardless.

    + In my humble opinion, Panel 3 is illustrating the spaceship peacing out after it's extracted all the 115 it needs.  If you look at the negative space in the top left, it's dark blue - very "outer space".

    tl;dr = There is a crater, so we know this is post Nuketown.  There is a 115 extraction device, so we know the crater has 115 and probably was made by one of the 3 115 rocket's.  The 115 rockets hit Nuketown Zombies after you die in gameplay, HENCE - the loading screen depicts events that happen after Nuketown Zombies (i.e. in "the future" to when you are actually playing on the map in-game).

    ~~~
    Having broken this down for you (the best I can), I've come across a couple questions of my own for you all:
    - why does this being need to be on the ground for the 115 extraction process?  Why can't he just chill in his ship, and let the drill do it's thing?
    - is this being absorbing the 115 himself, as well as the device? (bottom left of large left panel).  this could be the reason why yellow dude is on the ground while the 115 is being extracted.
    IB30fVy.png
    - is there more than one yellow-suit guy?  It almost looks like 2 figures (below/slightly to the right of the red 1 in panel 1).  I'd wager a spaceship/large machine large enough to have a 115 extraction device would require more than one operator.
    RnOxrfr.png
    - the gum packet, which has already been brilliantly explained by @MixMasterNut , seems to indicate that there is time travel involved.  We have a very 1950's bazooka joe-esque gum pack, which is named after the Aztec mythological God of the Dead, slapped over a comic book showing some futuristic crazy spaceship mineral extraction.  Is this simply breaking the 4th wall, or does it mean something larger?  Does it literally reference cross-timelines with altered histories?  Were said "histories" altered by time travelers interfering with fixed points in time?  How does the Aztec God of the Dead wind up on a pack of gum, unless history "as we know it" gets severely f***ed?
    This... is why it's hard to theorize about what "future" this loading screen exists in.  With 115 being able to temporally displace anything in time, anything is possible.  I could go in circles for hours - but at this point there is really is no way to explain the majority of elements that make up the zombies storyline.
    Anyway - thanks again for causing me to dig deeper.  It's always exciting to consider new aspects.
  15. Won't be expecting much of a reveal on the game modes future at the convention though, but maybe some insight in to what we can expect will do me just fine.
    Yup @DeathBringerZen - From what I make of it, sounds like Lamia will be discussing how zombies came to be. Probably similar to what we heard from the dev team at CODXP. I'm certainly not expecting anything related to the 2015 3arc release (although it would be a welcome surprise), but this is a great way to get the conversation started. Obviously they don't want to steal any of SHG's thunder until after the holiday season (per order of Activision).
    I share everyone's excitement and enthusiasm, can't wait to learn more!
  16. Update:
    Here is the full 26 minute presentation of Mark Lamia, "Treyarch's Zombies: Following the Fun to Win Hearts... and Brains" (featured at the DICE 2015 summit)
    Direct Link
    "Mark Lamia, studio head at Treyarch Games – Lamia will present “Treyarch’s Zombies: Following the Fun to Win Hearts…and Brains,” where he will explore the highly unorthodox development process behind Treyarch’s Zombies mode and the unique creative dialogue the studio has with its global audience of Zombies fans."
    Source: http://www.dicesummit.org/news/7_speakers_added_to_dice_2015.asp
    It's been a long unsure road, CODZ - but the 3arc 2015 hype machine has finally lit its embers. This only means good things... This is the first we've heard from 3arc since the BO2 slumber, and for this to be the first topic? It's a brilliant bit of allons-y.
