  1. I liked how BO2 had two main parellel storylines as part of the overarching narrative, one in the final years of the Cold War and the other in 2025. Great narrative choice, I hope this returns in BO3.

It would be the best way imo to satisfy those who want CoD to go back in time versus those who are happy with the future setting.
Let's face it, CoD MP will never be set in WW2 again. The Campaign on the other hand they can go pretty much wherever they want.

  2. @the_clay_bird @Chopper The answer is simple really, the majority of people who buy CoD don't buy DLC. Instead, they just play that one Zombies map that came with the disc. This move was clearly done to persuade as many of those people into buying the DLC anyway.

Now only buying the main game is no longer an option because you have to get at least one of the DLCs in order to play Exo Zombies. And hey if you're going to buy one why not just get the Season Pass for this amazing price, right?

  3. @Nightmare Voyager @the_clay_bird The "Sledgehammer put in Exo Zombies because of the reception to Exo Survival" story is most likely not true.

Even before the game goes Gold, which is a few months before release, they're already working on the DLC. And even before any of that, they're presenting Activision with their DLC plans. Because remember, Sledgehammer doesn't actually develop most of the DLC content, that's usually outsourced to Raven and more recently, High Moon Studios. So way before the actual product is in our hands, Activision has already assigned those studios to work on X map and X modes for the DLC season.

It's way more plausible that Activision told Sledgehammer to deliberately put Exo Zombies on the DLC to give people more incentive to buy the DLC and Season Pass, as it now comes with a "brand new" exclusive mode. Then have a teaser of the mode in Exo Survival as icing on the cake.

You also don't make a full fledged motion captured teaser cutscene in just 2 weeks before release, let alone come up with a brand new mode and add that in your DLC plan a few weeks from your games release.

  4. If one of them was going to be shot, they would've shown Bruce pulling the trigger in the cutscene, then we'd all be guessing who got shot.

Now it's more likely one of them will be held captive by Sentinel while Bruce joins the party leading the others to defeating Atlas / the Zombies.

  5. 1. Would never happen. Sledgehammer only did it this way since they thought having zombies was going to be a big surprise that motivated people to get the season pass. They gave us the bot survival mode on the disk. Treyarch wouldn't waste their time trying to incorporate a different coop mode on the disk and then giving us zombies in DLC. If they did, people would be pissed.

Here's the scary part. Exo Zombies was pushed to DLC to increase DLC and Season Pass sales. Activision has confirmed DLC sales are increasing year-over-year.

They could just as well "suggest" to Treyarch to make their Zombies DLC only, too.

Also supporting pay to win? This has to be a meme, no one actually does this.

  6. @the_clay_bird Don't get me wrong, I didn't particularly enjoy Extinction.
But at least Extinction brought new and significant additions to each map. Making each stand out on its own and worthy of a purchase.

The thing with Exo Zombies is that it's literally Treyarch Zombies with Exos added in. That might give them a pass for the first map, but when your mode is 99.95% shamelessly copy-pasted from another devs mode, at least have the balls to innovate, build upon and bring new ideas to the table in the upcoming map packs. Instead of changing the location from the Atlas Corporation to McDonalds, adding in defenseless pussies every 5 rounds and charging 15 dollars.

It's sad to see Highmoon Studios reduced to this.

  7. The thing that kills me about this map is the fact that it's so lazy. There's no innovation whatsoever. They didn't listen to the feedback from Outbreak, like the terrible infected round / pointless EE / leaderboards @DeathBringerZen already mentioned. On top of that no new perks or weapons or quick map getaways. (Seriously why didn't they add the grapple from the DLC multiplayer maps?)

Instead for €15 you get one extra weapon, some survivor mode literally nobody asked for and a single new boss zombie.

Hell, even Extinction had a better value than this.

  8. To be fair Slade, you may be using a different word (retcon versus canon), but you're guilty of doing the same thing, just in reverse. Instead of saying the new one isn't true, you're saying the old one isn't. I personally come from the belief that they should both, all, be counted. An author has the right to retcon something, but if it isn't explicitly known to be a retcon, how are we supposed to know? And with a company as cryptic as Treyarch, who could blame us for just accepting both meals we've been served?

@MysteryMachineX Not really, you must have misread, MMX. I've explained that the events were retconned in Origins. I never said that means either one isn't true anymore. As you know, retconning happens all the time in fiction. It's pretty much unavoidable when doing a prequel story. So just because an event was retconned in Map X, doesn't mean you can go and conclude from that that Map X isn't canon to the main storyline anymore. Instead, I also believe both versions, pre-retcon and post, should be counted, so I'm pretty sure we're on the same page.

  9. @Chopper It's incredibly stupid if you ask me, but I'll try to explain.
Some events from WaW are ignored or re-written (see: retconned) in Origins.
For instance: In Moon / Der Riese, Maxis is perfectly healthy and Samantha is everything to him. But in Origins Maxis says he doesn't have a daughter, and like the other german soldiers, succumbs to the zombie sickness shortly after.  Some folks can't accept the simple fact Treyarch retconned some stuff from the early days of the story to have Origins make sense, so they claim Origins to not be canon.

@Black Hand Smith @Stop mocking me0 Removed posts for spoiling other games without using the spoiler tag. Make sure you don't forget it next time.

  10. You know we have been coming up with locations and stuff already Slade?

I wasn't aware, the OP isn't exactly clear.

Might need  to split this thread into multiple ones to seperate discussions regarding features, map location / layout, weapons, story et cetera.

  11. The stock quotes are in some odd format which utilizes hardly any space, adding your own quotes (even overwriting the old ones) would take up much more room, it's fine in a test map with nothing else in it, of course it is, but putting them in an actually good map you'd have to sacrifice other features just to squeeze them in. If you guys think that's worth it then you'd have to convince the mapper of that, I don't even have any clue what you'd be wanting them to say lol? A few quotes would be reasonable though, but again this would be a really minor aspect of the map, surely there are way more important things to be addressing first? Like where the map is actually gonna take place for a start?

Sure, it's definitely not a priority.

Let's discuss the map's location / primary features.

  12. Regarding any custom quotes, adding them is easy. Here's some quotes of a character in muh test map, to give you an idea of what it would sound like when done right.

If you want them, I'd suggest having one custom character to minimize the amount of sound files being used. If I'm not mistaken if you do your soundaliases right they overwrite the normal quotes that would be loaded into your map, so if you don't go overboard you shouldn't have any problems concerning sound asset limits.

  13. @Stop mocking me0 There's zero chance we are the purple man in both games. The security guards we play as simply lack the required knowledge to be the culprit. The Purple Man knew how to safely get into Spring Bonnie's suit, something that's explained by the audio training tapes from the third game. Mike and Jeremy didn't. Purple Man also knew about the Safe Rooms that the animatronics cannot go into and that are off-cameras, again, Mike and Jeremy on the other hand, did not.

@Nightmare Voyager How can the Phone Guy be incorrect about the endoskeletons when they stuff you into one when you get caught?

    http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140912021724/freddy-fazbears-pizza/images/a/a5/5NAF.png

  14. 1. What and Who is Golden Freddy?

    2. Why do the animatronics/children attack you and others (Phone Guy, that 'incident') in FNAF 1 and 2?

    3. Does the fact the Phantoms have a burnt appearance mean anything? (the FNAF 3 diner burns down doesn't it)

    4. Why did TPM hide in Springtrap? Would the disguise have somehow fooled the children? (I've read he lured the children away while hiding in the animatronics, perhaps that might be why)

    5. Is anything revealed after beating Night 6 in FNAF 3?

    1. It is implied that Golden Freddy is one of the suits Purple Man used to lure the children to the safe room. (Depicted as Purple Freddy during the minigames)

    2. In both games, they think that you're an endoskeleton without a suit on. Thus when they catch you they force you into one.

    3. Perhaps foreshadowing said event?

    4. He simply panicked and thought he was safe in the suit.

    5. Apart from the place burning down, no.

@InfestLithium I just thought of this. Phone Guy mentions in Night 6 that the Safe Rooms (the rooms that are inaccessible to the animatronics and off the map) in all the current locations are being sealed up for "budget reasons". However in the death minigames the safe room from the first game can be clearly seen. Any idea when the vintage audio tapes were recorded?

  15. @InfestLithium @Tasha the Purple Man actually died after FNaF 1. He returned to the restaurant (which was closed and forsaken by then, as seen in the death minigames) to dismantle the animatronics and thereby destroy the last remaining evidence of his crimes. The spirits of the dead children showed up and cornered him, causing him to jump into the Bonnie spring suit, which lead to his demise and the creation of "Springtrap". Springtrap was left to rot until the guy from FNAF 3 found him along with the audio tapes.

I think it's just Springtrap, as he is the only one that can kill you in 3. The phantoms only cause ventilation errors and hallucinations, they might not even be there. So the childrens aren't haunting you anymore since they got their revenge on Purple Man after FNaF 1, all they're waiting on is for you to free them.

  16. @InfestLithium Story-wise, the Phantoms' roles are very minor. Like the other games, the night guard starts hallucinating when confronted with past events. In this case it's the old audio tapes, in FNaF 2 it's the phone guy mentioning the suit that was used to lure the kids.

The Minigames only alter what comes next after FNaF 3. Because everything leading up to the purple man getting killed remains the same in both the true and the bad ending. The only thing that changes is the ultimate fate of the children.

  17. In the past of call of duty we've stuck to gun nerffing and changes in the map to make the games balanced for any player...

    But why?

    Menu_mp_weapons_famas.png

Why are we making warfare "fair". In real life it isn't. You move onto german territory and they can produce more weaponry then you. You get stuck out there with 4 expert sharpshooters with snipers, that's just war.

Call of Duty ≠ warfare. It's an entertainment product.

    You're essentially describing Rising Storm.

In that game, if you're on the American side, you have access to vastly superior weaponry, including shotguns, flamethrowers and automatic rifles. So on paper the Americans are OP versus the Japanese, who mostly use bolt action rifles.

On the other hand, the Japanese have access to portable mortars, can place grenades as boobytraps, suffer less from supression when fired upon, can grenade suicide without losing points to their team, and finally can use the Banzai Charge to great effect.

So while each team has their own advantages, there are an equal amount of disadvantages to prevent one team from auto-winning a match before it even started.
