When you posted the stills and mentioned "horns" I also thought of a stag. That Norse mythology is very interesting, especially considering the apparent ties into the, "Frozen Forest" from the campaign. i'm not sure how they are going to tie it together, IF there is even anything to tie together at all.

Unfortunately, it seems as though what you saw in the video is actually a bush. After watching that portion, you notice from the way they move, whatever is causing the silhouette is in front of the tree, not behind it. Nevertheless, it is a good theory. I really am interested as to why we see a forest while in the menu and different shots each time we load into the menu after a game.

Found something interesting in Treyarch's "Nikolai_Memories" video I'd like to share. Around the 1:07 mark of the video you see something moving in the background that is not a Zombie. Just before we see this, quote Nikolai:

I can no longer deny the possibility of an unseen power, a guiding hand helping us to fulfill our destiny.

After he says this the background fades back to the forest and pans to the right, and as this happens to can hear faint screech from the distance. He concludes with:

My path is chosen, our fate has sealed.

Before the video cuts to the scene, a figure of an animal is moving beyond the tree [on the right of the screen.] Here are what I believe are its horns, and if you look closely at its movement in the video, you'll see that it's an animal and its body, even the head.

Understanding that this story has a lot of Norse mythology influences, I researched anything in its relation to Elk, Deer or Stag in the legends, and found something that has a surprisingly stellar comparison with Black Ops III. The legend of four red Deer named Dáinn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Duraþrór arching their necks, gnawing & chomping on the branches of the The World Tree.  Why is this important and why the symbolism?

    250px-AM_738_4to_stags_of_Yggdrasill.png

The particular tree their gnawing on (Yggdrasil) that is an immense mythical tree that connects the nine worlds in Norse cosmology, regarded to be at the center of their universe. And what do we know of Black Ops III that is not so dissimilar to this idea?

What do you think about this theory? I feel very certain that it's an Elk/stag in that video, if not it is something. I think I'm right in making this connection with Corvus and the frozen forest, etc. Especially during the time Nikolai talks about a 'guiding hand'.  See for yourself.

How far do you think this goes? If the unseen power are Stags, are we the Devils wolves?

So, the new x-files premeir was on last night. One of the scientist said they used element 115 to power something. dont want to give too much away.

    thats weird right?

it isn't weird at all haha. Ununpentium has been shown in a lot of projects even before Treyarch started to adapt it to their story, mostly Conspiracy documentaries on the History channel...

It is actually about cybernetics, a neural interface and their applications to both the military and Black Ops. BO3 is more Black Ops than Black Ops 2 as well considering its plot has striking similarities to the first Black Ops. Your argument for what pirates in space has to do with Call of Duty, well you don't have one. If you can link it to what Call of Duty fundamentally is, fine, but if not then it isn't Call of Duty.

You have misunderstood. This post centers around the gameplay aspects of being in space and what it can add to Call of Duty, and you are arguing with me about the fundamentals of previous games. Your argument is petty. Every franchise has the right to progress and change its "fundamentals" , unless you weren't aware of the drastic change between Modern Warfare & World at War.  As for 'space pirates'... You are pretty much spot on mate. You have completely established the fact that a game about Space Pirates has nothing to do with Call of Duty. But my idea isn't about a game about pirates. I merely touched on the idea of  pirates and thought, with the added tension between different alliances from Earth,  using them would make up for a good plot device portrayed as cloak & daggers.  Whether or not they're actually independent pirates searching for raids, or a gun for hire, are not any of my concern. The tension is still there.   Why can't you grasp this?

Thanks, if I have ideas for a future space themed Call of Duty?

Well, personally I think that a cold war in space would be better than a big war like ww2 and ww1 in space.

Like you said, a spacerace would be cool, America, Europe and Russia are building spacebases though our solar system, and at the other side China and India.

It would be a sneaky war, from which the most people on earth very less know, like the Cold War.

And yes, there could be independent "pirates" who are at nobody's side but who still cause a lot of chaos.

And very important, don't make it too sci-fi like star wars.

The spacecrafts should look like in this century, without lasers, super fast engines and stuff.

Still large, slow, vulnerable spacecrafts. (with some smaller things like spaceshuttles)

I find the most interesting aspect about it is how navigating in space with a big astronaut suit, gravity making your movements slow and being cautious of how you move, to it being unpredictable, really interesting. And using thrusters to prevent you spinning out of control. This part will probably be unlikely to happen in Multiplayer, but it would make for a very tense moving campaign experience. In the case of 'sides' or 'alliances' forming with countries, I still believe that each country is out to infiltrate eachother nonetheless (for instance; hired pirate raids).

Call of Duty is a legal term describing the necessity to carry out a job or duty, such as a police case, military assault/wartime actions, or other military or highly important jobs.

If you want to make a new franchise, do. It is NOT Call of Duty anymore if its space pirates.

Then neither is Black Ops III if it centers around the idea of entering some 4th dimension... If Treyarch can make a COD based around something bizarre sounding as that then I can make a COD about space pirates on the edge of a space-race...

  7. 2 minutes ago, Nightmare Voyager said:

No it will not and should not change. It might as well be another franchise then. That is honestly the stupidest thing anyone has ever said to me.

Why do you think it's stupid? ... And why wouldn't you want the franchise to evolve into something greater than it is? The game is called 'Call of Duty', it doesn't say 'Twitch knife, slide, prone, thrustkick, thrustjump, Twitch Shooter', does it?

  8. 4 hours ago, TimelordAlex said:

I would not want that, i dont want to play the cold war with exo suits or boost jumping. Quite frankly I'd take a HD remake of BO1 and new maps added for MP and Zombies to fit the theme, everything else can stay the same.

Exosuits & boost jumping? Me neither. I just want barebone'd astronauts with gravity pulse guns, abandoned ship raid/battles and with gravity being detrimental to the way you navigate through gameplay... Damn I guess a simple man like myself can only dream.  :thirst48:

You know what my thoughts on the next Infinity Ward game are?

    1eovxgh.jpg

I had my fun on Ghosts, the campaign was absolute garbage. The MP was not that bad, I have to admit. Extinction was garbage after Nightfall, not sure whose dum idea Mayday, Awakening and Exodus were and I honestly never want to see the face of IW again. What I really want is for IW and SH to cooperate and work on a game together, which is unlikely but the last two Call of Duty's were abizmal compared to the glory days which literally ended with Black Ops 2. Black Ops 3 is an awesome game, but if another bad IW game comes out next year then it is going to leave a bad taste in peoples mouths and give the game a bad name again, with people saying "its the exact same game" which it was with Ghosts. So much was wrong with it, was a reskin and was in all honestly basically MW3. I cannot stress enough how bad I don't want them to make a game. I want them to either work with SH to make a good CoD, because there ideas together could actually amount to something. Or I want them to just remaster a game or something. If I have to deal with IW doing some stupid space gibberish. No, I won't. I will gouge my eyes out. "Oh but you don't have to buy the game." Really? I didn't know. But I want to buy the game. I want it to be good. I did have my enjoyment on Ghosts. I truly did, it is where I met some great friends and it was the best time of my life. But I do not want to have to buy an IW game, hoping for the best and either it being bad to begin with or me growing to utterly despise it. Basically, they need to get into gear or else I will be utterly heartbroken that IW cannot redeem themselves.

I really needed that vent, thanks for making this post, you raise some good points about a space title and I think its the direction CoD could go in, although I do not want that. I really want a break from CoD. Not me saying I don't want to play it. I want more to spent making these games. The quality shows, just look at Black Ops 3. Call of Duty is in a dangerous place where it can really go bad or good. Activision really need to give the game a break and let it make a comeback so that it does not become the next FIFA.

A lot was wrong with Ghosts, the slow paced multiplayer, the boring characters, the boring campaign. Extinction was a good, unique and challenging attempt and I'd applaud them for that. Infinity Ward aren't scum though... A lot can happen with a three year dev cycle, past doings can be learned from and it won't hurt for the community to be a bit optimistic about these things. I think there is a lot wrong with Black Ops III too, I haven't particularly liked the way they've made their Zombies map, Shadows. The map is packed with too much (unnecessary) elements, Margwas, the cocoons. the way they have aligned Pack'a'punch; the map does not give you time to think. And all of this, believe it or not, to mostly adhere once again to the YouTube community. Treyarch haven't done anything to revitalize the franchise as the formula is still the same since MW...

I dont buy any COD that hasnt got zombies, so they can take it wherever they want. I however would like to go back to the cold war era from BO1 for another 3arc title, but that probably wont happen, thats easily my favourite COD for both MP/Zombies and Campaign is not bad.

Apologies for the post not being where it should be, in the Infinity Ward section, and anyway I get you. Something in my gut hearkens to  "space warfare" this year,  and that's not because I just came back from watching The Martian...If Treyarch chose to depart for space. They will have to be completely original about it, [well] or at least semi-original about it.  I would love them to go back to an alternative Cold War era, where technology is thrice ahead of its time, and that would make going back to experience the "space race", a lot more thrilling, macabre, and more importantly would revamp their series.

  11. I have no idea to start this topic. I am sure many have already discussed about this particular idea in greater depth than myself, so this post will be just be another knock on the door. Ever since gaming began we've had an abundance of 'Space era' games, and that is good because it is something truly fascinating to develop on.

With last gen consoles and (yes) that also includes PC, big games like Mass Effect, Dead Space, HALO, and even Star Wars had a great run in last gen, however looking back, excluding Ghosts, Call of Duty stuck to their boundaries and never truly ventured space. Black Ops: Moon was a good effort. And looking back, they seem very preserved on pursuing the idea. A lot of attention has been given to games like Elite: Dangerous, Star Citizen, No Mans Sky, Beyond Earth, and then eldest titles will eventually renew themselves. Since Call of Duty is known for doing whatever the market tells them to, then there is no need to question its inevitability, whether we get a space game this year 2016, next year or in 2018.  Infinity Ward touched on 'space warfare' briefly-but-beautifully in Ghosts. Visually it looked astounding and I don't think I will ever forget the first mission, despite the rest of the game taking a very boring turn afterwards.

To be frank with you, as consumers we have been spoiled with too much, over-the-top, thrust-pumping, house-vaulting, high octane advance warfare-ing... The past two years have been very overwhelming and it has took a toll on my expectations for 2016.
If venturing through space is their plan, It would be interesting to see Infinity Ward take on different dimensions covering, space travel, tight corridor shootouts, strategic environmental twists, different angles of tactical combat, the latter. A more relaxed Call of Duty is what I hope for. It would be very interesting seeing myself play through a campaign set in a modern, tension-filled 'space race' between opposing countries and experiencing this story propel itself to an eventual 'Space Warfare'.  And by the time a war is a'lit, you then realise you and your team of explorers are not alone in the vastness, and your ship is suddenly endangered by forces you can't be protected from, like Pirates... Infinity Ward do not necessarily need to take the traditional, militaristic angle to their game this time around. You don't need to make everyone a 'Woods' in order to make it a Call of Duty, that's for the player to decide. But I guess it's all subjective. I find being an astronaut with basic military experience, with no perks, being forced to protect yourself with basic weaponry, leaves the Player more vulnerable, yet on edge. It makes for more intense battle sequences.

For multiplayer, I'd love to see  slow & intense, pirate/spaceship raids. I should really expand on that but I seriously cannot be arsed...too tired.

What are your guys opinions on a 'Space-like' Call of Duty? You were probably expecting it. You were probably expecting someone to bring it up again. It's a shame I had to do it... What are your aspirations for next games? Do you think we will perverse other planets? Colonize Mars or some sh**? What about Extinction?  What about our extinction?! Didn't we like, blow up?!

  12. If you are with Nvidia, some graphic cards can enable Performance Boosters in the Control panel, it helps me siphon out the crap stuff even when I don't need it. If not you should really find out what card you have and the size of your video ram. I'm no expert but there is a way to get good performance on your game, by optimizing it via the Steam launcher. I used to play DayZ a lot and everyone I knew got terrible performance for the game, but they figured out a way via Steam to optimize your start-up settings so it uses up a dedicated amount of your Ram, without the changing sporadically and causing leakage like this. This may look like an extreme way to fix your game, and I don't even know if it works with Call of Duty. Anyway, if you're desperate this could work.

Go to your Steam and right-click your Black Ops III in the Library,
Go into your Game's Properties and find the "Set Launch Options" option and a box will pop up.
These are the things you can type in that I found when trying to optimize DayZ:

    Quote
    •  -nosplash – removes the Bohemia Interactive splash page, letting you get into the game faster.
    • -skipintro – skips the intro, getting you into the game faster.
    • -noPause – keeps the game running while minimized or not focused.
    • -world=*empty  disables the map from loading on launch, meaning you get into the game launcher quicker, but loading the game will take longer.
    • -cpuCount=8 – set this to how many cores your CPU has. Most systems are either 2 (dual-core), 4 (quad-core), or 8 (octa-core).
    • -maxMem =8192 – set this to the total amount of RAM your system has, 2048 for 2GB,  4096 for 4GB, 8192 for 8GB.
    • -window – launches the game in windowed mode, if that’s something you’re looking for.
    •  -noborder – launches the game in border-less windowed mode.
    • -exThreads=7 – set this to 0,1,3 or 7 – this is the amount of threads your CPU uses. Defaults to 3 for dual-core, or 7 for quad-core.

Do what you can. If it doesn't work, well, at least you tried something. For me with a lot of games it helps in the long run.

    Hope this helped mate.

I wouldn't say the city itself is ridden with zombies, remember in MotD that we discover from the guard's journal entry/ report (or whatever it was) that the 4 prisoners just kind of vanished and everything else carried on at Alcatraz like normal. It seems like this will be the case in SoE where the new 4 wake in a hellish version of Morg city just like how the prisoners found themselves in a (even more) hellish version of Alcatraz.

And perhaps they've been planning this map since back then, though they basically had 3 years to make this game with over 2 years of that time being able to focus on it completely without having to really worry about BO2. It's possible the basic concept of the map was in mind when they made MotD but I don't think they really nailed down everything else until after Origins came out.

That being said, having actual connections to the characters themselves from MotD would indeed be quite the neat little tie-in between the maps. And who knows when Weasel might ever come back into play somehow. Looking forward to it.

That's a good way of putting it. I never really listened to that part in Alcatraz, "They just vanished". This has been said but not really proven in a physical dimension. Since jumping into one time to another, it can cause serious rips in the universe. Where two time-zones (either relative or dimensional) can interlock with eachother. Yet nothing can fall in or out these unpurposely, you can simply walk into these pockets making it appear as though you disappeared. They are called Time Pockets, and they were probably here even during the World at War days.

Theoretically, the Zombies could be travelling through these pockets as well, that's why their origin is unclear. And I do understand it does sound like a stretch that each individual spawn point in the maps have these things, and Treyarch probably aren't even focused on this aspect. It is too much to think about. However, if they were to play off this idea any time soon, it would be interesting to hear them tell us that these pockets were intentionally placed in these areas for a specific reason...  I sort of just rambled off there but it's good to be open to these possibilities.

  14. Well, until we see it! Treyarch know that by them releasing Der Reise, it's going to attract people who love Der Reise. These new gimmicky aspects added into the map (as pointed out above) are really just a given. If we don't find something aesthetically-to-the-map that hasn't changed... Then that will really just set the agenda for the rest of the game...

Most of us have been waiting for something like this for three years, do you think Treyarch have the balls to disappoint us?
