  1. Dear Sledgehammer...

Please stop giving Hardcore players the short end of the stick and actually give us some variety in game modes for once.

Oh, and most importantly Let us be our customized characters already!

    Seriously, what the actual fuck...

I mostly was excited for all the extra customization features AW had to offer. Instead, I'm left window licking what I look like when really, I'm just like everyone else in game. It's like building a sexy Hot Rod from scratch, putting all that blood, sweat and tears into building this awesome one-of-a-kind personalized muscle car, then leaving it parked in the garage forever because now I'm too scared someone might scratch it. What's the point then?

I don't give a damn if I only see my hands and gun when I actually play the game. I wanna know I look sexy as hell when I put a bullet between my victims eyes. Instead, here I am wearing my Hanes undershirt with custom painted "Anarchy" gear and with my flashy purple skate pads and green Skechers.

    #swag4lyfe brah...

  2.

Ugh I really wish they'd make it so you'd actually look like your customized soldier in Hardcore modes. Apparently, you're a default team because of the whole limited HUD making it hard to determine friend and foe but there's ways around that.

I feel like it's pointless to customize if you can't enjoy it in game too.

Can you really enjoy it in game?

I mean you pretty much only see your own gear and face in the killcam and let's face it: Who watches those these days? :P

Or are you the default soldier in the pre game lobby as well?

Thanks for posting this @Tac not sure if I am allowed to give you a fancy brain for this so a like must suffice for now. :)

That's not really the point though. They went out of their way to have this whole customization thing to gain gear pieces and such for your character, and everyone looks the same anyways when playing Hardcore...

It's like saving up all your lifetime earnings to get a sexy hot rod you've always wanted, then leaving it parked in the garage forever because you don't want to risk anything happening to it. WTF.

If you put up the idea for Veterans to be inducted into the user group just by "it feels right" then you have the same problem we originally had with the Legends/HoF group where there's a grey area in what actually makes them apart of that usergroup.

To keep things simple, I think it would be easy to make it so Hall of Fame takes place once a year, and those inducted into this group is because it was a unanimous Staff decision.

Then for Veterans, have it automatically kick in on its own once a member has reached their 4th year mark. Otherwise, it's granted if they decide to retire from staff. Whichever comes first.

I'm with you except for the automatic switch. I think it should be requested like an award. We would end up with several thousand "Veterans" with ten posts. That way we end up with only the truly dedicated folks.

Fair enough. Medals are awarded via request order. But they should at least have some kind of goal to reach before it's granted to them.  (Hence 4 year mark)

Besides, it seems reasonable enough, Veteran status could basically be the final stage of the Veteran chain:

    10-AwardImgMaster-1388455540.png = 1 Year at CoDz

    11-AwardImgMaster-1388455569.png = 2 Years at CoDz

    12-AwardImgMaster-1388455597.png = 3 Years at CoDz

Veteran Usergroup = 4 years at CoDz

  6. This is for Veteran, correct? I think that sounds good. One thing I think may be important as well is for staff to gauge the opinions of Legends as to whether someone should be inducted. The opinion does not have to be used, obviously, but just a reference. There's no harm in getting more information about how people feel about a user, especially from members that are supposed to be the best role models and basically have contributed the most. I think they'd be a good secondary panel of judges.

Assuming your get a hold of any, that is. :P

So far the only even remotely active Legends/HoF members I've seen around would be Alpha and Phantom. And even then, they haven't really been around much to give much of a detailed opinion. But, I like the idea. It's just with the current list, I think a nod is about as much of a third-party opinion as you'll get from current Legends.

  7. Eh, I think brains is too varied of a statistic to go by. But so is post count. I think having some kind of "which ever comes first" would work if your going to count Brains or Post count as another mark for determining those who fall in the Veteran status. So perhaps something like this for example:

Veterans - 4 Years at CoDz + 50 Brains OR 2,000 posts + UOTM winner. Or alternatively, Staff members who have retired from staff.

  8. I don't believe that "Hall of Famers" should still be active members, as it is just that. You are inducted into the Hall of Fame because of your past contribution, not your current contribution.

Ideally, we want those in the HoF to be active members.

I can see the point to both sides of this and I'm right in the middle. So I say, why not both?

@GRILL - I completely agree the the idea of having a few "living legends" as bonus role models for the forums. Plus, it would be nice for those inducted into HoF to actually have the pleasure of enjoying it a bit aside from any other reason.

And @PINNAZ - You make an excellent point of some members whom have certainly made a mark but are no longer with us. Just because they are no longer active, doesn't mean their contributions should go unnoticed. There's a pretty firm handful of folks I rarely see around here anymore that are plenty deserving to be inducted to the HoF due to their groundbreaking threads during their prime.

    So, here's my proposal:

If the staff decides to go through with some kind of "Hall of Fame Ceremony" idea, I think they should choose a pretty fair balance between the "Role Models" today, and the legends among us. Plus, (assuming they will anyways) staff should post the reason why their choices were inducted during said ceremony.

  9. I would also like the usergroup of "Veterans" changed to perhaps active members that have been here for over 3 years? Rather than just retired staff members. The title & description doesn't really go together.

    Since this has been brought up a few times now might as well give it some attention. I actually agree with PINNAZ on this. We used to have a usergroup back called "Veterans" dedicated to members that have been with CoDz since the very beginning. Perhaps there could be multiple ways to become a Veteran;

    - Be a member of CoDz for 3-5ish years

    - Retired CoDz staff member

    Whichever comes first.

Also, don't worry. I intend to get started on the year-end awards soon ;)

    Lottery Game

    How to Play:

What do the numbers mean, Mason?

Select 4 numbers, which we will call a "group. The numbers may be any number between zero to nine

The four numbers may the same as another, different and in any order desired.

When posting your group, you must post your username before the group. Otherwise, your group

will not be counted in the final drawing. Here's an example of a proper group post:

    Ex:

    User - X.X.X.X

    Modes:

BOX - Signifies that this group contains all numbers matching all winning numbers in any order, you win.

STR (Straight) - Signifies the group of numbers must match the winning numbers in the exact order.

After you've selected your numbers, you must choose which mode you wish to play the numbers as well.

    Ex:

    User - X.X.X.X/BOX

    OR

    User - X.X.X.X/STR

    How to Win:

To win, you must get all four numbers to match the winning group of numbers.

The winning numbers will be selected at random prior to the next round.

Each round will last 1 week.

When the results are posted, look for your username in the results list posted at the end of the week.

If you see any number of (*) next to your name, you may have missed something:

    * = You were off my one number! 2XP added!

    ** = You posted too many groups/numbers!

*** = You forgot to select a mode!

**** = You forgot to put your username with your group!

If you are only off by one number, don't fret!

Those who miss the round by one number are awarded 2XP for the following round.

2XP allows players to post an extra group of numbers for one round.

If a player is off by one number, and used the STR mode, they are awarded 2XP for 5 rounds.

And last but certainly not least,

    Prizes:

Prizes will be awarded to winners, and the prizes vary depending on the mode used:

BOX Group Prize - A customized userbar of choice made by Undad.

STR Group Prize - A customized userbar of choice made + free original artwork commission by Undad

  11.

Perhaps staff may consider doing a huddle for new people to be added to the "Hall of Fame" group annually? I think it would be a nice, fun little event to have some year-end awards (which I still need to do...) and wrap the year up with some kind of crowning of CoDz latest additions to HoF.

We award UOTM each month, perhaps we could just save HoF promotions for the grand finale?

As long as it's kept prestigious enough that not too many people are being added, that's the only thing I can stress about Hall of Fame.

No doubt. But given it's awarded by staff as a whole, add on the fact they do this only once a year, I don't see more than 3-5 people being awarded the title at once each year, if that.

  13.

A poll to get a general overall concensus would be nice. In the very least, it would be nice if the like count appeared only on your personal profile. I don't see why we all need to know how many "likes" we all have.

And "likes"? Are we Facebook? Why not something more zombie-esque like "Spleens" or something :P

That would confuse people. Brains and spleens would become one and the same….

    /sarcasm.

But that's pretty much my point anyways.

  14. So does this mean Zombies didn't come with the game then?

That would be intense if the zombies really move that quickly. Reminds me of either a World War Z/Left 4 Dead type of zombie (which makes sense, given their Exo Zombies, not actual just undead zombies).

I'm curious to know if it will follow a formula closer to how Zombies works, or Extinction.

  16. @

They are one in the same to be honest, personally I would take brains away and change it from Brains to Likes. However, brains is fundamental to CoDz.

Brains is earned, brains are for hard work.

Likes, are for anything, that falls into that category and other categories. You can give brains and likes to the same post, it's not a case of one or the other (although no one has said that is the case, I just want to point out that it's not).

No one gives brains to a post that gives a joke, no one has a outlet to say you know what, I liked that. Well now they do. Whether it stays when we upgrade the forum to the new version in a few months time or not is another question but it's here and in a few months, we just need to ascertain and review what we have and what we need.

Right, lol. You and Grill have now both made the difference between the two perfectly clear. What I'm getting at is with both being a visible statistic, what's the difference really? I don't see the point of having both, that's just my opinion. But especially if they basically do the samething and keep score. Now it's just a visible statistic of who actually posts more serious and thoughtout posts and the like more so than others.

  17. Tomb Raider: Legend

    Tomb Raider: Anniversary

    Tomb Raider: Underworld

    Tomb Raider 2013

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light

I have the bottom two already.

2013 is a great game, but there isn't much to do after you beat the storyline. It's kind of like Uncharted x Assassins Creed - regardless it's basically the new generation of TR so it'd be a great place to start.

    *Unlikes*

  18. Okay we can put a poll to see if people want the "like count" or not in the avatar section, if y'all like.

I get that brains and likes are similar but im going to reiterate the difference.

Ideally (and I know it's not always like that) brains are for posts and threads that clearly are backed by research, effort, and knowledge. Typically this would be for a zombie theory, or a terrific map guide, or a well thought out story/map idea, etc.

Likes are for humorous, entertaining, off topic, whatever really. Less about knowing your stuff, and more about just thinking something is cool, I dunno - does that make sense?

Right, that much is clear. As mentioned, I understand why the like system was implemented, but what good is it really other than just another brains system? Especially since last time I checked, we even have brains turned off in off topic forums/sections. If people were straight up abusing brains, that would be one thing, but as I said, I think everyone generally has the same idea on which posts deserve brains. Whether it's just a well structured post of input or opinion, or something original that took some effort. If I "liked" the post enough, I'd give them brains.

Some folks may get brains they don't feel are deserved, it happens. But I hardly think people are going to take the word of someone with more brains than others as law. Again, if brains are being abused (which they never have been so far), that would be one thing. But even then you could implement countermeasures to prevent that such as turning off the brains function in various forums or limiting the amount given within a 24 hour period if necessary. But so far this "like" system is basically the exact same thing. Especially since it publically displays a count for your total amount of likes.

If it were up to me, I'd say go with one or the other. No need for both.

  19. One of Xbox's latest "Deals with Gold" they always have going on includes some decent discounts on everything Tomb Raider. I've never played a Tomb Raider game until they came out with the newest Tomb Raider and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I even got that "Guardian of Light" Lara Croft co-op arcade spin-off game, that's a great co-op adventure game as well.

So, I've come to you guys; I know the older Tomb Raider games are a different ball game from the newest version and I'm curious to know which one you guys recommend.

Here's the available Tomb Raider games going on right now:

    Tomb Raider: Legend

    Tomb Raider: Anniversary

    Tomb Raider: Underworld

    Tomb Raider 2013

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light

I have the bottom two already.

    Thanks in advance

  20. Brains technically got a reset when we lost the entire system back when we first tried to upgrade the forums. There's no point in resetting them again.

I understand why we've implemented a "like" system, but if you ask me, the reality is it will probably be used about as much as I give out brains (which is hardly ever). Two systems that basically do the same thing tends to cancel each other out, making the one or the other seem pointless. Everyone here seems to have a general concensus of when and why brains are genuinely awarded, but I ultimately would give brains to a post if I liked it. So now it kind of feels like you either "like" it or you REALLY like it, lol.
