  1. Welp that answers my question and turns out I was right about the Exo suits as I mentioned in a different thread. I'm definitely stoked for this.

Frankly I could give a damn about story, how it "rips off" 3 Arc or IW's Extinction mode. It's Zombies. It's fresh and it's new.

    Bring it on.

  2. I always thought some kind of activation via the menus that triggers an EE would be cool.

For example, the hair color Easter Egg for XBL Avatars. Waiting for a certain amount of time triggers more hair color options. What if something similar in nature were to happen by waiting or pressing certain button combos activated this spontaneous Zombies theme for the main menu that would flicker, showing characters seen as zombies and everything looked rugged and post-apcalyptic?

Or perhaps the cinematic trailer that repeats before pressing start when idle is altered?

  3. Good topic mate.

I'd love to hear some of the tunes you listed.

I've always wanted to hear a TOOL song in Zombies as I know that Jimmy is a fan of TOOL. On his Twitter he follows Maynard, Danny & (insert guitarists name here) so I know he would consider it. Publication rights would be a huge issue if you know the background of Tool.

Jimmy just won more brownie points then. I always imagine zombies anytime I listen to this. As though it were slowly reversing backwards to the beginning of it all in the first few minutes:

Also, some other great songs that would fit the nature of Zombies:

That being said, I have a custom playlist for each Zombies map that fits the theme and build up if any folks are interested.

  4. nice find @Electric Jesus

Things are looking up.  With the popularity of the side quests in 3arc zombs, I'd be surprised if there wasnt' at least something.  Question is:  Is this going to be endless waves of the undead like our classic zombs, or will there be an endgame or escape like extinction?

AND, I really hope there are some detailed stats tracking like we had in BO2.

Sorry about the double post but hopefully both. I've got my fingers crossed that AW took the best from Extinction and Zombies.

  5. Perhaps it's just me, but most of the point I was trying to make is that it strikes a nerve for some reason anytime the "Big Easter Eggs" are called "Easter Eggs" anymore. Pulling apart from Zombies specifically, if you were to line up these "Easter Eggs" with your typical definition of an Easter Egg in any other game, it doesn't match the description at all. When an "Easter Egg" suddenly has steps, it's not an Easter Egg anymore. Everything people have called an "Easter Egg" since Ascension, became more and more " hidden objectives" more so than anything else. And here's what I mean when I related it between WaW and Blops II for example:

    - Finding "Tunguska" written inside a shack outside of the map which is only found while spectating or using the "no clip" feature, is an EE.

    - Coordinates pointing to (or at least near) Area 51 heard within the radios in SNN or Verruckt, is an EE.

    - Various hidden Radios with indirect cryptic messages and no prompt to activate them, is an EE.

    - Being told you need to connect A to Z somehow by figuring out steps B through Y is NOT an EE.

Hell, you were given a checklist in MOTD even.

Going back to the Zombies and it's story, and the other half of what I meant was combine such EE examples with real history and myths and you had a bone-chilling series of puzzle pieces to connect and put together of just how the Zombies came to be and what actually happened. That way of apporaching everything seemed to be pushed aside after about half way through the first Blops season. After seeing how the community reacted to the Ascension EE formula, 3 Arc took that formula and ran with it.

Now, was this necessarily a bad thing? Not really no, but that's where the feeling of the whole eerie and cryptic mystery-solving story progression just shifted entirely to fill-in-the-blank instead.

  6. I've preached left and right around the forums about how the WaW days of Easter Eggs and how the story was a lot more cryptic, dark and mysterious. And about halfway through the first Blops season, "Easter Eggs" weren't really easter eggs anymore. They were objectives.

The CoDz community wrote the storyline, not Treyarch. Hell, Treyarch practically admitted that a few times as their influence for several places and characters. And that's what I miss too, all the scraps the community would piece together through nods towards real History and Mythology or Tales and come up their their OWN stories and theories. Not be fed the story just to push things along. I've been around since the late WaW days. I watched this change from deep and extensive theory threads and discussions to "Easter egg Quest" threads first hand. So I agree with you wholeheartedly on that.

However, I wouldn't necessarily point fingers at the community itself due to this sudden change as we really had no control over the direction Zombies started to take in regards to the story and it's involvement in "Easter Eggs". Both the Zombies and the community shifted pretty evenly IMO, and that tends to happen between seasons with other CoD releases and more and more speculation being added on top of what we know and came up with already for Zombies. There's no changing or fixing that. But believe me when I say there's always room for a fresh start.

It may be a unpopular opinion, but I'm actually right there with you on a fresh start of it all. This is half the reason I'm eager to see what even AW brings with it's take on Zombies.

  7. I like seeing these ideas for more DOA popping up.

It was refreshing to take a breather from the typical routine of Zombies and still be able to slay countless Zombies in a classic manner. A classic within a classic!

I'd really love to see some "special" rounds or stages where the view and atmosphere are different from the same old "Birds Eye view, different map" pattern. Just to keep things fresh and the player on their toes. Such as the infamous 2D side-scroller we see in most arcade games as mentioned and zombies comes from both sides.

  8. Hey CoDz!

So I've been going for some of my mastery challenges to unlock some of of that blinging "Weapons Mastery" gear and really liked the look of some titles and such that were only unlocked via Clan progression. So I figured, what the heck, I'll join a clan.

Well today, several members from a clan called "Disciples of Gaming" contacted me, trying to recruit new members. I played several games with them and they were all friendly and laid back and have quite a large community. Intact, they have their own website. Deciplesofgaming.com.

After playing a couple rounds, I voiced I was interested and one of their leaders pulled me out to do their whole "initiation" thing. I was pretty impressed just how structured it was. They gave Squads, in which the closest thing I can relate it to off the top of my head is like Boy Scouts. You're in the Squad/Group, where you play with others in your squad but occasionally you'll mix and play with other squads as well. And all members are ranked amongst their clan, from "Privates" to "Lieutenants" whom all have different responsibilities. Such as, hosting Private Game nights as they mentioned, or giving the invitation to new recruits and such. So they actually run their gaming community much like a forum runs well, a forum.

But I digress, in this single brief encounter I can already tell these guys aren't just a clan, their a community and I'm excited to get to know them. And so the reason I post this here is because I actually encourage you guys to join up if your interested and don't have a clan yet! Right now, their biggest focus is obviously AW, but they also mentioned they do "Throwback Thursdays" and pop in Some Blops or WaW and play games together that way too. So if you wanna help papa Undad AND these guys out, definitely get in touch with them and let them know I sent you! ( GT is Mister J )

    DoG Leaders:

GT: InstantChaos86 And/Or DoG Karma xo

I met these guys on 360, however I'm sure with how big their community is, they also have folks on other platforms playing as well.

  9. Even though it's quite a bit older than just last year, I wanna give a nod to the Mass Effect series. I started playing it at the beginning of last year and it's probably the one and only game I've literally obsessed over since. With at least 10 full playthroughs already, plus a few Mass Effect novelties sitting on my desk and my entire Deviant Art page is practically all fan art, the series officially takes the throne of my all time favorite.

  10. Seems like there are different types of zombies Left 4 Dead style, and if I were to guess the colour of their eyes give away what kind of zombie you're dealing with.

If you pause on the frame with the blue eyed Zombies to the far right, it looks like they're surrounded by some sort of electricity around their collars.

    9qdzky.png

    That'd be my guess too.

I'd assume Exo Zombies has "special" zombies, with specific exo abilities/mutations that start to emerge as rounds progress, much like how on regular survival there's soldiers with specific Exo abilities that start to appear the further you advance.

Hence all the different colors in one round it looks like.

I'm curious to see if the zombies will also have a variety of movement styles too, rather than all zombies moving the same just with different abilities. Keep you on your toes!
