You're stuck in a village, there are vicious-looking werewolf people, and Chris Redfield is seemingly a very bad dude: welcome to Resident Evil Village. We got another look at the game during Sony's latest PlayStation 5 showcase, and although the trailer didn't reveal much in the way of new story details, it did give off some serious Resident Evil 4 vibes and suggest the next first-person Resident Evil is tapping into some different horror tropes.

You can check out the trailer from the showcase below, which seems to pick up where our last look at Resident Evil VIII left off--immediately after Chris Redfield murdered Mia, one of the main characters in Resident Evil VII and the wife of that game's protagonist, Ethan Winters. Ethan's back in Resident Evil VIII to survive more monster-filled mysteries, and though we know this story seems to start with and revolve around Mia's death, the latest trailer gives the serious sense that she's still got a big role to play. (Worth noting also that Mia seemed dead in Resident Evil VII, too, but it didn't take.)

At the center of this new trailer is voice-over from Mia as she tells a folklore-like story about a mother and daughter who head into the woods to gather berries for the girl's father. During their hunt, the girl gets ahead of the mother and disappears into the woods. We don't hear more than that, but it certainly sounds like nothing good happens after the girl vanishes into the forest. Given that the story is cut with images of hairy, monster-like humans and occult-looking symbols, chances are pretty good you're going to be dealing with whatever she meets there.
