Yet another significant KN44 reference

A redditor named fuzzee123 was looking through the end cutscene in GK and noticed that the MR6 in Nikolai's hand turns into a KN44 (pictures below).

The comments in the reddit post have somehow convinced OP that it's a "placeholder," even though that makes just about no sense at all, so please no one suggest this haha.

I hate to say what you don't want me to say, but I think it is that? I mean in the Multiplayer the default weapon that a Specialist will hold is the KN44.  And it's on the cover of the Paintshop/Gunsmith menus. I think Treyarch just likes to use it as a standard.

And did this happen just this once to that redditor or does it happen every Cutscene regardless of who plays it? It coulda just been a visual bug?

To sorta double down on this, I don't necessary think it's something they "like", i think the code just says: If null, default to KN44. The switch may be due to the use of the model needing to be different than normal..... errr... looking at it, it doesn't make sense for it to switch to it though. i mean, how many frames is it different? weird....

You guys, this can't be a coincidence. I mean some of the ways we've found the KN-44 on these maps could be brushed off but this? The gun literally changes for a fraction of a second into a KN-44. The gun was drawn inside of a summoning key in The Giant. It might not be a huge game changer but this likely has some kind of significance.

Taking a "semi" deep look at this, what if the KN44 holds some significance in the grand scheme of things, I'll try to research a little bit more about the weapon and maybe edit this post.

It might as well be some problem with the code associated with doing the Cut scene work, but I'll research anyways.

Thought I'd share this here since it relates to this post. Thanks to CodeNamePizza, Here's the cutscene viewed from Theatre Mode.

It's funny and bugs out a lot, but you can see that often when the characters default to their model stance, he's holding a KN44. So I think when designing the cutscene, Treyarch modelled him with their standard weapon (which as above I have shown is the KN44) and then re-fitted him with an MR6.5efcca8ee01ebd04c02d5a8b53616cd7.png

So I don't think this is anything to freak out over, just the cutscene glitching out and showing his defualt character model for a brief second.

honestly what significance can at this point a model of a gun have? that makes no sense. I am pretty sure its just a default look for a gun. the game just came out. Maybe theyve missed it. I highly doubt there is no significance to the gun. but the maybe the gun is a deeper meaning.

Found this during a game of Zetsubou No Shima. The plant model glitched off of it's plant base and look what was inside of it.

After seeing this, I'd hate to say but I think this boils down to it being a model that the developers use as a base for a lot of things in game. With the base weapon on the character models for Campaign, Mutiplayer and Zombies being the KN44, the KN44 showing up in the fireworks that activate when you land a critical hit with the Fire Works upgrade, it also shoiwing up in a cutscene that would have required the character models to create and now in the bottom of a plant that deals damage to zombies... I think it's safe to say this is nothing.

But, there is that The Giant scrap that has a depiction of the Summoning Key and the KN44... Why Blundell? WHY!?

So even though I shut down this KN44 theory down, here I am again trying to revive it haha. Things just got a bit interesting

MrDalekJD recorded a QnA with Mr. Jason Blundell and a particular question came up, "There's a lot of weird KN44 appearances and I was wondering if that was anything to look into?"

Here's a link to the part of the video where this is discussed.

Now while the issue on this thread isn't mentioned (the KN44 being bugged into the GK Outro Cutscene, I still believe that was just a character Model glitch), there are other appearances mentioned. Jason's reply to all this was:

Feel free to look into it.

Dammit! Haha, not directly saying yes nor no, just saying there's no harm in theorising about it. I don't know where we go from here, whether this was just a typical Blundell troll or whether he is trying to steer us in the right direction!

I don't really think there is much significance to the KN honestly. The only two significant things I see are the diagram with the KN and the KN coming in on Dempsey's pod, but I think the outline on the diagram is just meant to represent all weapons, since it is the default weapon Treyarch goes with. It might be implying the science/magic behind guns on the walls. As for the pod, it could mean really anything.
