I personally would disagree with that, I think the thing in the middle left looks remarkably like the Big Guy, perhaps mourning the death of the King. I don't think the horse or position of the King's head is related, but that's what I see in the painting.

In the pic you quoted, and in 360 game play, that seems to be a horse-head, with a large eye.

 

However, in the original picture (first post), it is clearly the big guy, coveralls and all! (The horse-eye built into his suspenders made me think the king was on a horse and the big guy was the horse-head).

 

I am so glad that you brought this up again.
