Bring on April 26th! Having just watched that trailer, the chap who says "our greatest barrier is our own fear" sounds quite a lot like Tony Amendola to me. If there's any Stargate fans here he played Master Bra-tac in Stargate SG-1. He was also in Continuum among other things. Can anyone else hear the similarity or just me?

Ok, so, I noticed a couple of things after watching that "Back in Black" trailer a couple of times. Here we go: (If I find anything else significant, I'll post it here)

1) Egypt (30.0500 N, 31.2333 E)
Coordinates in video: http://i.imgur.com/69hB3aV.png
Map location: http://i.imgur.com/sXtJHgp.png

Earth Map: http://i.imgur.com/7RVeAqN.png

I'm thinking that has a good possibility of being the location for the next Zombies map. Pyramids are in Zombies (Moon, Shangri-La)  and there's pyramids in Egypt. If this is the location of the next Zombies map, then the pyramids could have something to do with Group 935 (Maxis, Richtofen, etc.) Perhaps even Samantha could have some storyline involvement here?

2) Switzerland (47.3667 N, 8.5500 E)
Coordinates in video: http://i.imgur.com/PnKpwCL.png
Map location: http://i.imgur.com/JV5S3xI.png

Earth Map: http://i.imgur.com/vta72Eb.png

Leads to Zurich, Switzerland. Either the location of a campaign mission or multiplayer map by the looks of it. Also, the coordinates are on the side of the gun - this could be a hint to a particular location in which weapons are produced. Not sure though, just theorising.

EDIT:

3) Singapore (1.3000 N, 103.8000 E)
Coordinates in video: http://i.imgur.com/cGpLqJ7.png

Map location: http://i.imgur.com/lrZ198h.png
Earth Map: http://i.imgur.com/FCmzGrF.png

Another possible campaign or multiplayer mission location if it hasn't already been in a Black Ops game. I think I remember a Black Ops 2 multiplayer map set in singapore, but I'll look into it.

"This should help you remember everything"

"The numbers, Mason. What do they mean?"
"Everything you know is wrong"
"Your life will be consumed by absolute loss"
"He doesn’t need his own weapons. He’s got ours"
"There’ll always be men like us"
"Our greatest barrier is our own fear. Our own doubts"
"The only thing holding us back is how far we are willing to go"

Mostly seems to be quotes from the two previous games, doesn't it?
The last two lines are definitely Dr. Salim though.

And so this marks the first time in years that I return to the CODZ forums...

....anyway, this is interesting.  Though, dare I say this, I may be too pre-occupied with The Phantom Pain to pick up this upcoming COD game....despite the fact that it's by Treyarch, and I have a liking to Treyarch's COD games.  Having been abstaining from the COD series, I was willing to make an exception for Treyarch's COD games, but The Phantom Pain is going to be my game of the year.

I think we're going the Deus Ex route with human augmentation. That last line "how far are we willing to go", seems how far do we keep adding to ourselves until we aren't human anymore.

Yup and it seems that is exoskeleton on Mason(?)

Goes well with the human enhancement articles:

"This should help you remember everything"

"The numbers, Mason. What do they mean?" Spoken by Hudson, odd considering he died in BO2.

"Everything you know is wrong"

"Your life will be consumed by absolute loss" Spoken by manendas, again odd because he died in BO2.

"He doesn’t need his own weapons. He’s got ours" Spoken by Sargent "cocksucker" But was never actually put into the game.

"There’ll always be men like us" Spoken by old woods but was never actually put into the game.

"Our greatest barrier is our own fear. Our own doubts"

"The only thing holding us back is how far we are willing to go"

Mostly seems to be quotes from the two previous games, doesn't it?

In Activisions COD blog when referencing the new in game Intel (snap chat qr code on the poster) they say "you never know when and where new intel might spring up, so remain vigilant"

So there will be more. I wonder if they'll do anything in black ops 1

Glad to see a Black Ops continuation. First title to actually get me into Call of Duty, and especially Zombies.

All those map coordinates and numbers circling around what is supposedly Mason are critical for sure. Just wish my laptop didn't have crap graphics quality so I could see them.

Can't wait for our hunters to grab some juicy info from the teaser. :D

Well I see a lot of people here suggesting Operation Charybdis and Reznovs involvement in the next game. In my opinion Treyarch did not use and completely put the whole operation to the trashcan when they made Black Ops II and it's future setting. We get to that but first lets see how the Black Ops ended in with cliffhanger and how Reznov was actually alive:

First thing is that in Black Ops campaign intel drops there was this hidden message:

Reznov is dead, or is he dead, there was no body, is he who he says he is

Reznov is pretty much dead by the year 2025 when Black Ops II takes place. But fact is Reznov did not die in Vorkuta. Treyarch had planned plot for Black Ops II that would have basically continued from where Black Ops ended with the assassination of JFK. But then they decided to go with the futuristic theme and the story was changed.

Every time Mason sees Reznov in Black Ops or Black Ops II after the Vorkuta mission its only his hallucinations caused by the brainwash Reznov himself conducted. Reznov escaped Vorkuta with Mason but then they never saw each other. Reznov was trying to contact Mason under the alias of John Trent. He tried to warn both CIA and Mason of the still active network of sleeper agents that would be activated by Evelyn Cross the "numbers lady".

Here are few things to back this up taken directly from Black Ops terminal computer files:

Here is an email where the numbers lady Evelyn Cross is threatening JFK. She mentions Berlin and you may know the famous quote by JFK which he made during his Berlin visit: "Ich bin ein Berliner". The date was 26 June 1963, same as the e-mail's date!

June 26, 1963

TO: J. Kennedy

FROM: Cross, Evelyn

SUBJECT: Last Chance

He won't ask you again and I know this was his final offer.

Please reconsider before we leave Berlin or your life will be in danger.

Our people are everywhere - this time you cannot win. Give him what he

wants before it's too late.

Here are two pictures of Evelyn Cross that were sen to CIA operative Hudson by John Trent aka Reznov:

crossg.pngberlinv.png

As you can see on the second picture she is being brainwashed by the Russians. And the resemblance to the numbers lady is obvious:

evelynu.png

Also check that desk. The book there is Profiles in Courage by no other than JFK himself:

profiles-in-courage.jpg

Now lets get back to the other e-mails in the Black Ops terminal:

November 21, 1963 (1 day before assassination)

TO: J. Kennedy

FROM: Trent, John

SUBJECT: You have one day left

Victory cannot be achieved without sacrifice.

So here we come to the point what suggest that John Trent is Reznov. "Victory cannot be achieved without sacrifice" is quote which Reznov told to Mason when they escaped the Vorkuta prison.

These messages are sent to CIA operative Jason Hudson:

Tuesday, November 19, 1963

TO: Hudson, Jason

FROM: Trent, John

SUBJECT: Everything you know is wrong

You don't know me, but I know Alex Mason. You will learn to trust me.

Everything changes on Friday.

"Everything changes on Friday." From that date on next Friday JFK was killed.

Thursday, November 21, 1963

TO: Hudson, Jason

FROM: Trent, John

SUBJECT: Now you understand

It was by the hand of Nikita Dragovich. This is just the beginning.

They are everywhere.

Start at Vorkuta. Two escaped the breakout. You know one of them.

The other one just died.

Message from one day before the assassination. Directly states the escaping from Vorkuta and that one of them was Mason. The other one just died. Referensing to himself as CIA though Reznov was killed.

This is what Hudson said to Mason when they irrogated him:

"Dragovich brainwashed you, but Reznov had plans of his own. He was never in Vietnam. The real defector with the Nova Six dossier died during the attack on MAC-V. He was never in the rat tunnels. He was never at Rebirth Island. Viktor Reznov's been dead for five years. He died at Vorkuta during the escape! All the years you thought he was with you. That was just in your mind!"

So in that email Reznov is telling Hudson that he did not die in Vorkuta and is alive as well as warns him about the other sleeper agents that are "everywhere".

Monday, November 25, 1963

TO: Hudson, Jason

FROM: Trent, John

SUBJECT: A single step

Echelon 5 21 0 8 18 15 14 7 21 16 23 9 14 23 0 6 18 4

Her name is Evelyn Cross. The photo is for your eyes only.

This will be my last letter for quite some time. When the time comes, you

will know what to do.

3 days after assassination. Image of Evelyn Cross was in this email. So here Reznov gave the identity of numbers lady to Hudson.

Tuesday, February 27, 1968

TO: Hudson, Jason

FROM: Trent, John

SUBJECT: You have done well

Please tell Mason one last thing. This time it's freedom for both of us.

Few years later came this e-mail. I'm sure I don't need to explain this one n

There are also e-mail from a third guy called Mr. X. He sent two emails directly to Mason.

June 30, 1978

Mr. Mason --

Clarke was intending to hide in Johannesburg.

He has a brother there. It's a good place to start.

-- X --

Clarke was the scientists who helped to weaponize Nova 6 that Steiner created with the help of other scientist from the Russian Ascension Group. For some reason Mr. X recommend Mason to seek Clarkes brother in South Africa.

Daniel_Clarke.png

July 4, 1978

Mr. Mason --

Woods is alive and remains the sole remaining American guest at the

Hanoi Hilton.

Thought you should know.

-- X --

Mr. X tells the location of Frank Woods to Mason. Hanoi Hilton was notorious POW prison in Vietnam where many of the captured American soldiers were tortured.

Payback_intel.jpg

Hanoi Hilton Intel document.

Then there is the ending of Black Ops:

The day of Kennedys assassination, Evelyn Cross starts his number broadcast. Mason says: the date when JFK was killed, Texas, caliber of the gun that killed JFK and Ascension.

And we know from before that Mason was brainwashed to kill JFK but it was prevented earlier because Reznov had added the other agenda of killing Steiner and Dragovich in his head. Now that he had those goals completed what was left? The original agenda of course which was to kill JFK.

----------------------------

Now why the whole Operation Charybdis doesn't make sense when we look at the events of Black Ops II?

Well Hudson has been working for the CIA the whole time and after Woods was rescued from Hanoi Hilton he was also working for CIA by doing operations in Angola. Mason had retired and moved to Alaska. They definetely wouldn't be working for CIA during the time the missions take place in Black Ops II if CIA though they were liability and tried to kill them together with the MI6. It's safe to say this Operation was never conducted in the actual story arc but simply CIA had planned such operation before they saw that they were actually no risk and that they needed them.

This is phenomenal thinking. You pieced so much together, and the alias of John Trent makes so much sense. I completely agree, and now that we know it's Black Ops 3 I can't wait. The quotes all sound like they come from Alex's memories, but what would they cover? The game description says it takes place in the future, so why are they mixing quotes from Alex's life in? Treyarch can't even announce a game without confusing me :P

Are we missing the obvious?

#backinblack

One word:

AC/DC.

Personally, I think that this is a discreet and subtle confirmation that the game will indeed be set in the 70's-80's. The album was released in 1980.

"It's just a coincidence.." some might say.

Well, maybe. But if there is one thing I am certain of about Treyarch, it is that the word "coincidence" is not in their vocabulary. This is too obvious.

Black Ops II: The Future is Black

Black Ops III: Back in Black

It also says we're "back". Back as in "we have come back to make another Black Ops game", yes. But also, "back in time"?

There might be more to this phrase than we think.

This would also add up to the Operation Charybdis-theory, and it would actually make a lot of sense. To me, this is the only logical place to start the BO3 storyline.

The only thing that's confusing me and making me doubt my theory is the human augmentation-stuff that's been mentioned, and the obvious armour of the soldier in the teaser..

I still think this is a clue, and I know this might seem far fetched, but we should not rule out the possibility.

@WillyWonka It's definitely plausable. We should all keep that in mind until the official reveal. It could be just a reference to the song, but they could have used this tagline for Black Ops 2 as well, and they didn't.. There wouldn't be a need for the Black Ops 1 quotes if this game is entirely in the future, so part of it has to at least be in the past.

Or this is the biggest troll ever, and they'll just announce World at War 2 on the 26th lol

I believe that the teasers we have been seeing are them experimenting with the mind. We can make the perfect soldier by removing Fear and Doubt. We have the technology to do so, but are we willing to take that step.

Who's mind is the question, David or Alex Mason?
