New Usergroup

Hey All,

 

We have introduced a new member usergroup, this comes before the members group & upon posting 5 posts New Members Will become Members. This does a couple of things for us, it allows us to track members that are actually active by simply looking at the board index "Who's Online". It also does a couple of other things, it will allow us to prevent "New Members" from accessing things such as chat until they have actually contributed to the site.

 

So if you see a members name in orange, this means they are a "New Member" or a Newbie, Noob but we are going with the title "New Member". I'm still setting up the restrictions on the "New Member" group just now but everything will be sorted in 10 or 20 minutes.

This sounds good. People might get upset that new guys are being segregated, but I prefer to see it as a kind of training camp to get into the real thing, due to the practical applications. And it's not like it's any real serious work to make some contributing posts.
