Reinforce Game Mode

Reinforce is a new mode added in May to the multiplayer games.

This is a blend of team deathmatch and domination (i refer to it as domination death match or Rein-force).

The basic idea is that there are 3 flags to capture and enemies to kill.

Win by:

Kill all 4 enemies.

Capture all 3 flags at once (glitches: you may rarely hold 3 and not win)

Hold 2 flags until time runs out (45 second rush timer or end of round timer).

You can hold 2 flags, have every member of your team dead and the game goes on until you win (by 45 second 'rush' timer) or an enemy takes a flag (then they win).

Edit: also rounds have a time limit of 2.5 minutes. When that runs out, i think whomever holds the most flags wins.

Taking a flag gives you half of a point towards your killstreaks, kills count normally. Use cheap Specialist rewards as assault and support go away when you die. The assault/support ones should not die when you do, so that's either a glitch or poor design choice.

Winning a round is 1 point, 4 points to win the game. Halftime/switching sides happens after 3 rounds.

You do not respawn normally.

You respawn when a teammate takes a flag. So capturing a flag as the last man is quite important. Don't be that guy trying to kill the enemy team rather than taking a flag. Just don't.

It is not a killwhore mode. This is not domination where you take 2 flags and rack up kills while maintaining your hold of those 2 flags.

You must be capturing flags. Leave games where people fail to understand this basic concept: you will find derps not capturing flags as the last man alive.

I recommend playing with the scoreboard showing on the upper right (back button on controller). There are only 8 players max, so it doesn't take up too much screen area but will allow you to instantly see what players are alive. This will help you judge what actions to take during a game.

Example: I'm the last alive on my team (everyone else shows red).

There is 1 enemy alive.

They have 2 flags, i have 1.

It seems in his favor: he can take the last flag to win. Kill me to win, or wait out the timer.

But i have a choice of 2 flags to capture, with only 1 enemy watching, so i have a great chance to quickly grab a flag and return my full team to play. So, now i have a full team respawned at 1 flag, and he must scramble to take what had been the last flag. Meanwhile, my team theoretically knows this and can try to stop him/her from taking the only flag he has (since he probably won't go to the 1 we just respawned at). So, going after flags on either team is almost always the best course of action.

The point being; pay attention to who is or isn't alive and take flags.

Ieds, kastets, snipers/marksmen are all a common sight as well as smg/shotgun (probably ripper and Remington are most common). C4 is great to place at a flag or to throw at a contested point, ieds too.

Games are fast and fun. I've won games from wiping out the enemy teams, and I've won games at 0k 1d 9captures, so you can play how you like to win.

Just don't camp as the last man standing...or try to Rambo a full team...get them flags!

Happy gaming!

Edits: often flags don't count. Notably the first and last flags glitch most often; take the first flag with your team, it tells you you captured it, but you are at zero captures. I'll take the game (or round) winning flag and often get no credit in the upper right, despite telling me that i took it (and, you know, it winning the game [or round] and all).

Flags often lag due to the way ghosts is programmed: i take a flag, it turns blue, it tells me that i captured it, then i get killed and had not captured it in the killcam, so it gets 'uncaptured'. Yeah. Good job iw.

Games seem to count as search and rescue in the leaderboards/patches/et cetera.

You get good xp for this mode; tdm takes me about 20-26 hours to prestige, this took under 13 hours.

Sure thing.

For me, i used to play hc s&d in mw2, but hated waiting to respawn.

Occasionally, i play Domination, even Blitz rarely, but mostly I'm a boring tdm guy. So i am surprised at how much this mode has grabbed my attention.

Damn, you beat me to it! Was going to do something similar!

I love this gamemode. I hadn't played Ghosts much till they brought it out,(edit: I've played tons of ghosts, I meant not recently) and for my friend and I, it's given Ghosts a whole new lease of life!

Let's talk strategies, 'cos there seems to be so many things to think of.

I'm just going to brain dump to warn you guys:

1) if you're against a team that are all in the same clan, leave that lobby. It's a gamemode that requires teamwork, and if you're with randoms- good luck!

2) everytime you take a flag you restore your teammates (that are downed) and it also adds about 45 seconds to the clock.

3) rushing works really well, but beware of opposite team rushers that have the same idea.

4) if you're in a team, a good strategy is to have a member go for each flag, enemies don't expect it, and by tge time they realize whats going on, its game over!

5) if you hold two flags, and there is only one member of each team left, you're better off waiting for the timer to end rather than going for the last flag.

6) snipers that are hidden work well.

7) rushing classes work even better!

8) remember stealth perks amplify and dead silence. I dont know how many times a teammate has died from someone soundwhoring.

9) if there's 30 seconds left, edge closer to a flag you haven't taken. If there's <15 seconds left, sprint to take it! You're going to lose if you let it go, might as well try!

10) watch those flags like a hawk! So many times have I seen it where I'm dead, and our last teammate is Campy Mc Camperson, but we lose anyway because he/she didn't notice that the opposite team already have 2/3 flags, and jump on the third.

11) don't be a honey badger tracker sight twat. Here I am, rushing like a boss, only to have a camper f**k my day right up!

I hate the campers. No offense to them and their legitimate strategy.

I won almost every game that i played in and they were all randoms. Sadly, there is no leaderboards for this.

As always, great thoughts from your smart brain!

The 'take all 3' is a great approach. I love it on frieght (east spawn); run to B, throw an ied on it, hopefully some of my team gets A, dash for C, take it as team takes B.

On prison break (by tower), grab A, run to B, throw ied by corner truck while capturing. Game over unless the team randoms really suck. PB is one of the most unbalanced spawns in every game mode. You never want to be in the north spawns.

Class most used by me:

Ripper grip rf

Ied

Ready up

Slieght of hand

Marathon

Dead silence

Resilience

Extra lethal

Edit: currently use;

Gold Knife

Kastet

IED

Agility

Marathon

Dead Silence

Blast Shield

Extra Lethal

My banes: good sniper/marksmen, intelligent c4 use.

C4/ieds can be hidden under the flag circle, nearby growth, water (like Ruins, the terraced flag).

Learn spots to take flags stealthily:

Flooded: take B by sitting in the rubble pile. Take the restaurant flag by crawling up the steps just far enough that you can't be seen up top.

Stuff like that.

Random laugh: I'm dead on Prison Break, 2 mates left. I spectate the sniper in the tower who realizes that he should grab a flag, so he jumps out of the tower...no resilience, dead. Ha.

Oh, the pros and cons of being spectated. But you feel good when you swing the game with your team watching.

More random thoughts: if an enemy just took a flag, often they all run from it, making it an easy retake.

Explosives are expected on the flags, so sometimes mining the approaches works best.

C4: good for throwing at flags being captured, good to place on a flag and then trigger when you hear theflag being taken. Good for taking out explosives on a flag.

For the above reason, often it is a good idea to run over a flag to trigger the voice, but move off of it so you don't die to c4, then capture it after the c4 is blown.

This depends on the other team. If nobody has used c4 in the first round, you probably won't see it after unless new people join. If you keep getting sniped in 1 round, you can expect it in all. People don't seem to change up their attacks much. I do if I clearly need to adapt, otherwise I'm usually using the same set up as well.

I been back to trolling with my Riot shield class, especially since the randoms I play with on Dom don't support the team with captures.

Here is my class when I am on my own.

Riot shield + radar

C4

Extra lethal + Danger Closed + strong arm + reflex

Akimbo PP4

When I have decent team mates I use this class

-Vector Grip/Muzzle brake

-Lightweight/Marathon/Sleight of hand

-Dead Silence/Focus

Support: Night owl / Ground Jammer/ Oracle.

Oracle really makes the difference in the end when the enemy team is catching up with you and your teammates are falling apart when their assault kill streaks are being destroyed.

My # 1 rule for campers. Get them first. I need to make a point first. Of-course I am 100% objective. I personally don't give a shit about my k/d had my cousins play and ruin my k/d all the time. It is down the drain somewhere around 0.9 and my win average is close to 1 but My Dom rank is somewhere 250 in the world.

When someone piss me off, I made sure they lose the next 10 games. So I can show them what WBKD really means.

EDIT: Sorry for all the off-topic rant, I saw you guys talk about the campers ....  so I posted my take.

You're my shield inspiration way!

I actually see these in use in Reinforce.

Pp4? I think that your making that up, ha.

On kdr: too many variables, game types, play styles, weapon choice, bullshit, to even care.

In bo2, it was 1.5, i got tired of trying to do better, so I made a class with no primary/secondary, only stuns/Semtex and ran around getting murdered on tdm to prove a point: we won every game that i was in with that class. Every teammate had a 2 kdr at the end. I went 5-12 to 7-12 per game, but clearly made us win. So kdr is really pointless. I dragged mine down to .78 doing that. Eventually it climbed to about 1.3 (?).

I have a 1.5 in ghosts. I think I'm one of the few who leaves games to ruin his kdr: (tdm) early in the day i pull 20-0 to 17-4, later i play about 12-10s, then, once I'm tired/shot/intoxicated, i start rage quiting games at 1-3 and murder my kdr/win/loss. Like derp, yeah, like a derp.

Self pat-on-the-back: I just saw that my ghosts accuracy is 19.72! It used to hover in past cods around 16-17. Probably all the sniping i did in ghosts.

/off topic.

(fixed typos. Being a grammar Nazi to myself is stressful, given the propensity for phone keyboards (Swype) to put any word other than the one I want at the time).

I have had multiple people whose kdr's are above 2, after a game or two with me they drop to below 1's, get pissed off and leave.

Haha, snipers are my favorite ones to get with the shield. You should see their face when they are right in front of you aiming down the sight and have no clue how to kill. Regardless of how old & boring cod gets it's some of these classes that adds variety to the game along with these new game modes Reinforce, Extinction. I wish I was good enough to get assault kill streaks. I might try and max prestige (for the second time) to get that full auto pdw so I can use it with shield.

Some of my setups:

VKS w/ Extended mags and Thermal.

MP-443 Grach w/ Armor-Piercing

Throwing Knife.

Sleight of hand

Sitrep

QuickDraw

Gambler

Satcom, Dog, Trinity Rocket

That is my camping class. I can easily watch my team's flag, and B at the same time on some maps. As long as 2-3 other people on my team are runners while I defend, it's easy.

My class for non-camp friendly maps:

CBJ w/ Red dot, Muzzle break.

Frag Grenade

Sleight of Hand

Hardline

Sitrep

Gambler

Resilience

Satcom, Dog, Trinity/Juggernaut.

Some things I find useful:

When playing with a coordinated team, don't cap your side's flag until someone dies, or if there's a rusher on the enemy team, you kill him when he tries to cap your side. Free revives, no penalty.

Have 1-2 people run sitrep and point out explosives, and if they have satcoms.

When it's 1 v 1, make your way to one of their flags. Wait til they attempt to cap, then take their flag. They may have everyone back, but you do too.

@Delta, coordinated team? This is cod! Ha.

But yeah, when i played with 11 bots to check out the game mode, the veteran bots play like that.

Mostly I was in random versus random games online where strategy and coordination are sins.

@ way, you would probably get me too: i rage quit games like a teenage gets horny. I try not to and have gotten better.

I play real life games extremely fair, so i hate getting ripped off, it goes against my very core being to cheat or be cheated. So when the game f's up, i often feel much better leaving, rather than staying in what i consider an unfair situation.

Obviously i know that what comes around goes around and have had people call me hack/cheater et cetera due to lag and cods terrible inherent lack of proper synchronicity, so obvious when one plays against bots offline; if it is that out of synch in an offline game, then imagine how bad it is with lag added. The point is that not all lag is lag, that's just an excuse for the inferior product that cod is.

So, I try to better accept that this is happening to all and that i should take the diaper off and man up. So I do.

Playing non kdr games like Reinforce help when I'm being a baby, because the flags don't lag as much. :)

One final point that I forgot from yesterday:

When players respawn in after a flag is taken, they can spawn at any taken flag. Useful to remember if they have 2 flags, sometimes they can spawn behind you!

Ah, I very rarely rage quit. But the kd thing is crazy, I'd love for them to take it out altogether.

My track record on Ghosts, went from a 0.3 (!) to about a 1.3, now slowly getting lower and lower.

It's really daft actually, I only ever play with one guy, and my kd always goes down when I'm playing with him. If I only played free for all, or on my own, it would probably just go up.

But what the hell is the point in it? I can get 30+ kills on dom and have a negative kd, or go 10+ kills and have a positive kd. It really doesn't reflect skill, only your play style. (IMO)

Nice points on k/d

Here is what my k/d looks like based on competition. I only really play Dom.

Tough enemies, decent teammates : 30 kills 32 deaths 12 caps.

Tough enemies, good teammates :    15 kills 5 deaths 6 caps.

Decent enemies, decent teammates : 30 kills 5 deaths 10 caps.

Decent enemies, sucky teammates : 50 kills 30 deaths 15 caps.

Tough enemies, playing with clan : 20 kills 5 deaths 2 caps.

Point is when I play with my clan, I never get a chance to shine so much and improve my stats, it is full on mode unless I play with another full clan which rarely happens unless it is clan wars.

Clan wars:

Tough enemies vs playing with clan mates : 30 kills 35 deaths 10 caps.

Brutal enemies vs clan mates : 10 kills 35 deaths 5 caps.

In tdm, if the randies on my team are good, i barely get kills; everyone's dead by the time i get there. I spend my game chasing spawn flips.

If my team randies are poop, the team will lose, but i will do fantastically.

That's what is cool about reinforce: i actually want good teammates.

Link to comment

An i mistaken, or are killstreaks exploding when you die?

They should last until the round ends, right? They shouldn't go away because i died...

Edit: random win story; playing Sovereign. I get paired with 1 random, the other team is 4 people from start.

We go 3-0, the 4 man team comes back to 3-3, overtime. Fighting at b, trying to take it to get my random buddy back, i am really hurt, drop down below, run around to the other ladder and an enemy drops past me. I 180° stab him (sens 19) for the win, not knowing he was also last alive.

That felt good.

The final round, the game added another teammate who never got to play, just lurked while we won.

I set a sentry at a flag, died, then they took the flag quickly, so i assume that it died like an ims.

But they could be running Blind Eye as I couldn't see what happened.

The way the game is set up makes high killstreaks rare, i think that I've only pulled in 3 sentries so far. Now that I've switched to knife/kastet, my kills went down, I've been a capture-whore.

Mini rant:

holy hell, what is wrong with people with this game mode at the moment. we played it all night last night, my friend and I often died first (we rush sometimes too much).

There we were, watching the last player alive, waiting for him to capture the flag...but no.

YOUR TEAM RESPAWNS IN IF YOU CAPTURE A FLAG... IF YOU ARE GOING TO SIT THERE, THEN AT LEAST TRY TO TAKE A FLAG SO YOU CAN GO BACK TO CAMPING WITH THE BENEFIT OF HAVING YOUR FULL TEAM BACK.

Geeze last night we lost so many rounds because of guys just camping waiting for people to come onto our flag/flags. If the other team has 2 flags, there is very little point in them taking the 3rd, you're better off to go get your team back!

We did win most of our overall games though, but my god so much of last night was spent watching a screen.

Rant over, and sorry for filling up your thread 83457 with crap.

Link to comment

No. That's fine, warranted, and i fill my own threads with that same crap.

In other words (RAGE!): I hear ya.

Besides encountering that yesterday as well, kept getting the 'I'm last alive, I'm not going to capture a flag, I'm gonna kill the whole other team by my beast self!' (fails).

They would literally run past two flags, usually died, but occasionally tried to take a flag a little too late after failing to Rambo the other team to death.

(to be fair, i did this once myself, though it was more circumstantial; heading to the flag, i got in a couple battles that i could have avoided, and just got to the flag too late).

Yeah, i love watching other people fail to play the game/sarcasm.

Game wise:

Anyone using smoke? I've barely seen it used in this game due to trackers/thermals, but I've hardly seen any of those in reinforce. Mostly knives, iron sights, and rds.

I think that I'm giving it a try today. I already bought it for this soldier for some reason. Extra tactical gives you a second. I hate to give up the kill potential of ied, but they are so nerfed that they are really more of a warning system, rather than a lethal grenade.
