The Mythology of Aether

AETHER, a personified idea of the mythical cosmogonies. According to that of Hyginus, he was, together with Night, Day, and Erebus, begotten by Chaos and Caligo (Darkness). According to that of Hesiod, Aether was the son of Erebus and his sister Night, and a brother of Day. (Comp. The children of Aether and Day were Land, Heaven, and Sea, and from his connection with the Earth there sprang all the vices which destroy the human race, and also the Giants and Titans. These accounts show that, in the Greek cosmogonies, Aether was considered as one of the elementary substances out of which the Universe was formed. In the Orphic hymns, Aether appears as the soul of the world, from which all life emanates, an idea which was also adopted by some of the early philosophers of Greece. In later times Aether was regarded as the wide space of Heaven, the residence of the gods, and Zeus as the Lord of the Aether, or Aether itself personified.

That sounds interesting, we all believe that Aether is the dimension between teleporter and mainframe, so maybe this sheds some light on where it is, the Heavens.

According to ancient and medieval science aether (Greek ????? aith?r), also spelled æther or ether, is the material that fills the region of the universe above the terrestrial sphere.

The terestrual sphere is a concept derived from Greek astronomy. It is the region of the cosmos from the Earth to the Moon, consisting of the four classical elements: earth, water, air, and fire. Beginning with the Moon, up to the limits of the universe, everything is made of aether. The planets and stars are located in the region of aether, where everything is permanent, regular, and unchanging. Plato and Aristotle helped to formulate the theory of a sublunary sphere in antiquity. Thomas Aquinas is among those who picked up on the ideas of an existing sublunary sphere, and charted them in his work Summa Theologica. This idea usually goes hand in hand with geocentrism and the concept of a spherical Earth.

So according to this, everything permanent and regular is in Aether!

I just wanted to share this, because it is rather interesting to think that Aether is technically a fifth element! Comment and discuss!

Ether rather can not be called a element, yet more one of the layers of creation.

An energy or spiritual thing. For so far I know.
