Has anyone de-ranked a zombie emblem from not playing?

I thought i read that on here once. But so far, since i got the knife emblem, i've barely played. And all i've lost was the slash marks and blue eyes.

My good friend plays everyday. He got deranked because he had almost 2000 plus downs with not so much kills. Apparently the system works on K/D. I highly doubt that you will lose your rank if you don't play.

...cool. Thanks for clearing that up. I thought i read on here that you de-rank from not playing as well. Which would kinda suck.

Anyone else think there will be more rank emblems added at a later date through dlc?

I don't know, but if this 'Revolution' DLC turns out to be true I wouldn't be suprised if Treyarch throw in another rank or something, or with any luck maybe even explain the system a little bit. I've always thought they're treating the ranking system like they do their easter eggs- They're leaving it up to the community to discover. I wouldn't be suprised if Treyarch never reveal how it works...

Okay, figured I'd finally post my stats.

Kills: 53907

Bullets Fired: 271039

Downs: 706

Revives: 1938

Grenade Kills: 1163

Headshots: 25062

Deaths: 358

Gibs: 53832

Perks Dranks: 1276

Doors: 215

Hits: 0.93

Traveled Miles: 716

I have the skull w/the knife off these stats. Literally played Tranzit 2 times in co-op. Town a handful of times on survival. And almost always play Farm Surival..occasionally play Grief. I die a lot from trying to be the hero and save people (without monkeys) on higher rounds. Oh well!

I was following my kill to downs ratio heavily recently. In the game that I got the shotgun rank, I was at 190 k/d. I played a game on solo and got to level 49 with just shy of 5000 kills and 1 down. I went to 203 k/d ratio after this game and was given shotguns. My previous best was level 35. I don't know if it was a combination of the higher level or if it was k/d, but I personally think it was k/d.

Passed now the 150 K/D barrier with the latest round 52 game. No shotguns. AAAA!!!!

Recent K/D 3 days is 439, seems not to take place. Grief stat still negative (L>W, 5loss-3win or so)

Grief wont do much I want to guess. I have positive W/L with over 40 wins in both maps.

i thought it was pretty much confirmed that the tallies has to do with consecutive days played?

i had 2 tallies and have played the last three days, and each day i play a tally gets added, so after i played yesterday it was 5 tallies and blue eyes...

Yes This is confirmed.

Why would I have jumped so dramatically then? I do play everyday, so I can understand the five tallys but how did it skip 2 ranks and add two addition tallys for me?

It wasn't that dramatic, you went from Skull (rank 3) to Skull w/ knife (Rank 4). So you only jumped 1 rank, as you would expect from ranking up.

Remember blue eyes and tallies only judge activity and have no bearing on the base emblem.

Hi, I'd just like to share some of my experience with the ranking system. Some have said that it has to do solely with KD, others have said you just need to do consistently well (30+) three or four times in a row to get shotguns. Clearly we haven't figured out exactly how the system works, but maybe my experience will shed some light or promote some new theories.

About a week after the game came out originally, I was a regular skull, still unaware about the whole "get your K/D up to rank up" thing. I have a friend who I play consistently with, and we're of pretty similar skill, with me being possibly slightly better. I had played more than him (unsure about K/D at the time), so I believed that I would rank up to the skull with knife. One game we played with four people on Tranzit, and we did OK (Got to round 17 or 18, public match which was the first time we had it ranked on the leaderboards, decent for one week in). My friend ended up getting the Skull with knife, even though I had played more than him. I was kind of disappointed, and so the next day I actively tried to do very well to get the knife. I played one good game of grief which I did better than two Skull Blue-eyed knives (pretty rare rank at the time) and got no downs. At the end of the game I found that I had knives (again, no idea of K/D or total kills at the time).

Flash forward to last night, about a month later. Both my friend and I had been trying very hard to play well and get our KD up, because we had heard that it helped to determine the rank. I cared more about KD and I played a lot more than my friend, but I found that I couldn't rank up. I broke a 200 KD while my friend was still at 130 or so, and still did not have my shotguns. I play a lot of grief, and even after winning 5 or 6 games in a row at above a 200 KD, I had not received the shotguns. Last night, I played exceptionally poorly for whatever reason. I disconnected from a game of grief after getting a down, counting for a loss and a down. The next game of grief I won, but I did very poorly and had less than 100KD with 5 downs.

The next game I played a game of 4-player survival on farm (with my friend and two other skull ranks). After playing for three hours, we made it to round 30 (top 1k leaderboards) and suicided because we were bored. I ended up with about 1800 kills, but I had 11 downs, so again I brought my KD down. My friend had about 1600 kills with 8 downs, so his KD wasn't great either. At the end of the game my friend with less than a 140 overall KD ranked up to shotguns! I was very surprised and kind of disappointed, because my KD was a lot higher and I had beat him in kills, revives, and headshots during the game. We tried to figure out if he had some special stat that was higher than mine, but could find nothing.

This morning I decided to once again go for shotguns, so I played a game of solo farm survival. I ended up (again) doing very poorly, only getting to round 22 or so with 4 downs and less than 800 kills, once again bringing down my KD. At the end of the game I was surprised to see that I had ranked up to shotguns.

So, once again I ranked up exactly one game after my friend ranked up, months (and many zombie games) later. It would be a pretty big coincidence for that to happen just as it had a month ago. In addition, I found it weird that I ranked up after three games of zombies which I actually performed worse than my normal, and my KD actually dropped from about 208 to 202 over the course of the three games. So, I ranked up to shotguns from three BAD games directly after my friend had ranked up, just like months before.

Perhaps the ranking system has to do with the ranks of the people who you play with, or the ones on your friends list? I know it sounds really far-fetched, I don't believe it myself.

Sorry for the long post. If anyone can make any sense of what happened, I would appreciate it.

Yeah I think it's very unlikely it has to do with solely that, but it could be another factor. After all, there was very little that I did that was special in the last three games I played(except being ranked top 1k for farm 4 people) but I still got shotguns. On the game I oranges up specifically, there is nothing I can think of that I did specially or differently. Obviously there was solo people who have shotties and someone had to rank up to start, but I just thought maybe my experience would add a bit to the discussion.

I have a friend who has a 90 K/D but 30+ rounds on TranZit with the shotguns.

He also has a 50% headshot ratio, which I think is the key to this whole thing.

Think about it - every single zombie game/movie tells you to aim for the head. It's one of the most iconic thing about killing zombies.

So in a game where killing zombies, you get rewarded for getting headshots, simple.

This also links in with the picture in the ranks - they're skulls - which may signify headshots.

I think this can truly reflect skill, as a good player will not have to rely on the ray gun (which is incapable of getting headshots) as it is an easy escape out of any situation. A good player will consistently shoot the zombies in the head (evident that they're accurate).

If I can be bothered, after the exams I'll use my second account (GT: Cyclotome, he's silver though) and play custom games with headshots only all the time.

Additionally, now that I think about it even more, it could be a system which bases true skill off any two given factors, or it could be a total of the three, but say if you excel in one (e.g. round 200) it will bring the 'mean' up.

Consider this image:

The formulas inbetween the factors will be the 'skill level' for that area.

This explains the round-skip glitchers as they would've had a k/d in that game with their new accounts, and they could have had a 100% headshot ratio with ease. They would also have an outstandingly high 'highest round' achieved , so it would bump the whole thing up.

I think there are lots of other factors to (as in a duration is required so all the new players with a good first game can't get an instant shotgun rank, or maybe you need to be five tallies in your current rank to advance to the next one?(tallies are based on activity, it would make no sense for them to put them in there randomly because no one really cares about the activity of a player)).

tl;dr headshots count mofo. Remember, it's just a theory.

I can comment about headshots. I have a guy with 60% Headshot ratio and He has over 100k kills and 1000+ revives and less than 500 downs. His average is Round 40 all maps solo and co-op . He never got shotguns and stuck on knife.

Rank corruption is a common problem. evry time i went online this week i had "It appears as though the persistent rank data for 'Teh Danza' Has been corrupted. Returning to the most recent stored backup (lvl 4 aka skull with knife)" I now have 70000 kills and a kd of over 300. Stiill no shotties tho:/

Reading this thread has made me realise that Treyarch have messed up zombies even more than I originally thought.

It used to just be MP with people going on about their KD and how boss they were. I see zombies going the same way.

I will never ever get the skulls. The reason is that I play challenges and therefore take a shit load of downs. Well it's not that I could never get them.....I could be a tryhard and get them, but then I would never be able to enjoy zombies again as I would be obsessing about my ranking. Not for me.
