Why I think BOII will last longer than MW3

Let me just put this out there, I think BOII will be more fun and exciting than MW3 was. Why? Because you can do something more then play crappy multiplayer... With BOII you can already see how much they are changing it up, I'm glad. I'm glad we are getting a major change and update to things.

People say this is too much like Halo. My question is HOW?! Honestly, how is this AT ALL like halo? None of us really have played BOII yet, unless you went to gamescon, so how are these idiots making these assumptions?

Plus, if you do want to take a break from MP. Play zombies.

As for me, I will be trying to hit highest prestige. I was so close in Black Ops 1, but I just gave up and sold my XBOX. Now I have a PS3 and I am ready.

There are so many new things you can do already in BOII, like 4 z 4 and campaign and MP, just so much more to do. So that is my view on why I think people will play BOII longer than MW3.

I have 3 reasons:

Zombies (duh)

Campaign will have more variety (and woods :P )

And mp will be something new and fresh and if it will be at least as good as bo1 was...well then I am sure it will last longer.

Oh and MW3 was pretty bad.

The only good thing about it was that the shotguns weren't useless.

i bought MW3 but honestly haven't played it that much. i think i hit 3rd prestige maybe? pretty much only played on double xp weekends... my friends and I still play black ops MP to this day, in fact just recently finally hit 15th prestige lvl 50... i agree with OP that black ops 2 will have more longevity, not just because of zombies, but i think Vahn and the crew at treyarch do a phenomenal job of making a fun fair multiplayer game. i am super excited!

oh yeah also for zombies too!

MW3 wasn't the best, the MP has gotton boring and the campaign wasn't something I loved but it did introduce some pretty neat game modes and features. Saying this Spec Ops isn't that special and MP really isn't that best, don't know why but there is something missing.

I'm hoping that BLOPS II will improve on this. The campaign really does seem to have an amazing storyline, the way it is going to be portrayed as seems great. The new features will also stop it being the same as past campaign and very linear.

MP also seems to have a LOT of new features, the maps they have shown off looks great, I think it's Cargo where they have the moving crates, I LOVE THIS CONCEPT, something moving during play which will effect how the game is played out, also the scoring system seems fairer this time, I can now go get objectives and actually get something extra from it. Also those streaks do look great!

Podcasting will hopefully be a mode of mine that I will use a lot. I would be fun to use and put up on media sites.

Lastly with league play I am looking forward to playing with people of my skill instead of getting thrashed or beating the other team by miles.

Finally Zombies... do I really need to say anything here... I will anyway.

WORLDS!!! They're making worlds! I looking forward to some new innovations (from the preview it seems like we have a lot of this) also 4z4 zombies would be fun to play & hopefully bring a little challenge.

Black Ops II will definitely live longer than MW3 did & will keep my interest longer. Not sure how long, but hopefully long enough!

Here's why its better and longer then MW3, credit goes to computer and video games.

1.MAPS WITH COLOUR

Bar a few choice exceptions (such as the stunning Sanctuary, set inside a Greek monastery), Modern Warfare 3's maps are a dull, industrial bunch. Authentic they may be, but there's little that catches the eye. This is obviously a matter of personal preference, but we felt more at home waging war on some of Black Ops' more outlandish battlescapes. We're talking abandoned zoos, indoor ice rinks and derelict movie drive-in theatres.

War's a serious enough business already, so is a bit of levity to lighten the mood too much to ask? Not when you're planting claymores on a golf course, it isn't.

2.RC-XDs

At first, we weren't sure whether we liked these combustible remote-controlled buggies or not. But the more hours we sunk into Black Ops' multiplayer, the more we realised how much fun an addition they are - regardless of whether you're the exploder or the explodes.A warfield with an active RC-XD is a warfield fraught with panic, confusion and mayhem. As soon as the ominous beep-beep sound comes into earshot, everyone on the field scrambles stops what they're doing and instantly begins scrambling for higher ground, like a bunch of fifties housewives who have spotted a mouse.

3.THE DIVE

Anyone who's ever played Domination on Black Ops will know that the best part of that game is the pre-match dive. What's that, you ask? Why, it's the frantic ritual that precedes each round. From a standing start, the entire team sprints towards the nearest domination point and, in sync, belly flop onto the ground like an Olympic team of performing walruses. It's a code. A rite of passage. A way of telling your teammates that things are going to be okay - we're all in this together. It has to be that, because in the heat of combat, the dive manoeuvre is about as useful as an ice-cream grenade.

4.ZOMBIES

The Zombies mode is Treyarch's ace in the hole. What began as a fun extra at the end of CoD: World at War has quickly blossomed into a legitimate third gameplay pillar that stands shoulder to shoulder alongside the multiplayer and campaign modes. It was also the first indication that Treyarch were so much more than a 'me too' studio', fit only for toiling away on World War II shooters. Free of the confines of real-world conflict, Zombies has allowed Treyarch to take Call of Duty into uncharted territory - taking in sights such as Nazi Zombies, Sarah Michelle Gellar v George Romero and 'Space Monkeys'.

In one memorable scene, we even get to step foot on the moon! As much as there is to like about Infinity Ward's games, we can't say they've ever taken us into space. Well, maybe once, briefly. But then they blew us up.

Zombies is now an essential part of the Call of Duty tapestry, and try as it might, Infinity Ward's Spec Ops mode just can't compare. We can't wait to find out where this year's installments will take us. How can you ever possibly hope to top Space Monkeys? For now at least, the answer lies locked in a climate-controlled vault, deep within Treyarch HQ.

The main things I've noticed with the MW series and the WaW/BO series:

Innovation.

Back in the day we were clustered with WW2 games, so when Modern Warfare came out, it was such a breath of fresh air that everyone fell in love with it. Infinity Ward took the CoD series and showed it some innovation that it needed. However, this is also why people didn't take too kindly to WaW at first (or in some cases, at all). People didn't want to go back to WW2, they wanted something like their beloved Modern Warfare. Hell, most people only played for Zombies. Yet, it was around MW2 when people started to really hate Call of Duty as a series, saying it's losing it's innovation, that it's "the same game year after year." Treyarch took note of this, as well as taking the complains about the lack of innovation from WaW and turned it around, releasing Black Ops, a game set in the Cold War. Not many games have been set in this era, so it was refreshing, to say the least. BO introduced a lot of new, different things, like dive to prone, player customization and Wager Matches, while also taking great things from past games, like custom Killstreaks, playercards, and pro perks. Of course, by the time MW3 had came out, people had become sick of the modern shooter series, especially MW3. Why? Because it didn't introduce the innovations like BO did. They even left out cool things from BO, like Combat Training and player customization. Infinity Ward wanted to stick to the play-it-safe formula, which resulted in a game that wasn't necessarily bad, but just rather boring. We've played it before. We've played it alot. We want something fresh again, something like CoD4. We want those innovations, and Treyarch isn't afraid to give that to us. They are willing to change things for the better, and that is admirable. While IW makes games that are fun for a few months, Treyarch has managed to create games that continue to be played long after the latest MW game has come out. BO is fun, and BOII is sure to be even more. Even better, people who felt over-saturated from the MW series are now actually taking a second look at BOII. People who, in my experience, have hated CoD since day 1.

Treyarch has taken the throne of Call of Duty, and it is clear that they intend to keep it. Maybe now the series won't get the hate with the rightful kings behind the wheel.

I like MW3. I've only really recently gotten tired of it. I thought it was great fun. I've had some brilliant moments on it and thoroughly enjoy it. I think it's a fair argument to say IW took the crown with CoD4, and that Treyarch was really lacking with WaW. It was basically just a re-skin of CoD4, just set in WWII. MW2 Was great, the game surged IW's status again, however, it had some major problems that just never got fixed. I think it's fair to say that the cross-over from MW2 to Black Ops is where Treyarch got ahead of the game. I enjoy MW3, but there are still things that Black Ops added and fixed the IW just blatantly ignored. Death Streaks, Combat Training, Improved character and gun customisation. While MW3 furthered the series in some ways, it was a step back in others, which is unacceptable. From the look of BOII, Treyarch are making all the right decisions. Taking what we know and expect from Multiplayer, those core features, and shaking them all up. The two major changes I can see are Create A Class and Scorestreaks. But... The Internet won't change. People will play the game and by the end of December everybody will be saying "Ah! It's crap! It's just the same as the last one. I'm going back to MW3." I guarantee you. Why this is, I have no idea. I've lived through that phase for MW2, Black Ops & MW3. The "life span" of this game will be 2 months. 2 months and then the Internet will turn on it. But... Just try and enjoy it :)

My view, honestly, is that there are several things we need to take into account and that is the stereotype to say the least of comparing Call of Duties.

1. IT'S NEW!

People love anything new! And it's true, we are instantly attracted to something new and this intrigues us. Now, because we are so interested and want to delve into the deepest caverns that we can with blops 2 we are going to compare it to the last call of duty. That being Modern Warfare 3.When in actual fact with blops 2 we should be comparing it to it's original game black ops 1.

2. The games we are comparing are made from different developers P.O.V

Please remember these are different developers and have their own views and ideas to contribute so there is going to be quite a considerable difference in game play, game play mechanics, concentration to campaign, multiplayer etc.

3. Over expectation

We players tend to create this over expectation almost of what we want this game to be like. I understand most of it is just ideas and stuff that would be 'cool' but we need to look at the reality of the game and the changes that can be made and the fundamentals that need to stay in the game. Hence the reason almost every cod has went through a 'down' time or a period of time that it is less popular than usual.

I got bored of MW3 a long time ago. The map packs weren't that exciting (there were maybe one or two that I wouldn't pass up playing), the campaign was alright at best, and the multiplayer was just a rehashed MW2. And that's just the problem, is that IW got such rave reviews for CoD4 and MW2, because they were legitimately good games, that they thought they could just copy and paste and add some new features. The only thing I play MW3 for anymore is Chaos Mode, I will admit that they did something right there.

Treyarch is actually trying to develop a NEW game. Nevermind the zombies content, they're actually making a NEW sort of multiplayer. All of MW3's content could've been DLC or patches to MW2, but THIS looks like a different game altogether :D

There were a few things MW3 brought to the table that I thought were brilliant. For example...

Different types of killstreaks (support, specialist)

Killstreaks for each class

Some of the streaks themselves (viva la recon drone)

Some of the maps were kinda neat but nothing too special.

Apart from that, the gameplay was a bit... Weak.

Honestly the biggest mistake the developers made was listening to the consumers. Everyone has that one weapon that pisses them off because it always kills them. For example, noob tubing. So they say it should be nerfed, and it is.

But in some cases people are just intolerant of getting killed at all. You know, because the only way they could have possibly gotten killed is by that darn OP gun everyone uses *sarcasm*. Then all the weapons are made useless until playing isn't even fun anymore.

In BO2 multiplayer styles are shifted towards more than running and gunning. With the addition of the score streak system, playing to objective is more rewarding, and will shift the general gameplay to more tactical. Also the score streaks themselves ate so novel and innovative it will shift our gameplay in small ways to adhere to the new ones.

So yeah, MW3 had its perks (pun completely intended) but black ops 2 will not just last longer than it, but will be better in general.

Also, many complained that Bo ran to slowly. Others said the MW multiplayer is too fast. Anyone know where Bo 2 rests in the spectrum of fast-slow killing?

Mw3 sucked, it lasted maximum 5 minutes in my console before I flogged it to a friend. Same old concept, graphics looked as if they were getting worse. As I always mention when it comes to multiplayer COD4 was the one!!! BO online was also very good. So I hope that BOII will be excellent if not im not to fussed as I am not buying the game for MP.
