World Powers (Thoughts?)

Recommended Posts

Okay, I want to start this thread as an opportunity to express your views on world powers (USA, Germany, China, Russia, whatever).

It should be a friendly discussion and if you think you will get offended by what the other person has to say, well, don't join in.

First, and one of the most controversial past "world powers" I guess you could say would be the

Nazis

Okay, I know what you're thinking by now. But that is not the point of this thread.

We'll start off with this question to answer maybe.

What made the Nazis so powerful? How did they gain that power? Could they have dominated the world someday?

I'll start (I guess). The Nazis had strong support in Germany itself and many other countries. Hitler, (I must admit) was quite the charismatic leader, and took risks in order to gain a foothold over Germany and the first steps in WW2. You see, the British, French, Canadians, Russians, and everyone else didn't want a war did they, after World War 1 with so many dead. Hitler used this being the clever man he was, to take Czechoslovakia, Austria, and all these other places. Yet no one did a thing did they? He then decided to take Poland, which ultimately led to his demise and defeat but not before he had occupied France, Belgium, and much of Russia. I do think that if Hitler hadn't started the two-front war with Russia (He had a treaty with them) he could have easily won the war over Britain. Hitler needed the raw materials from Russia though, and invaded which was a bad part. But the point is, if he had made just one tiny little different choice, it is quite possible that Nazis could still occupy Europe today. It is possible, but it is also unlikely at the same time. Considering the Italians were destroyed in North Africa and couldn't hold their own against the Allies, it's quite possible that Hitler would have lost anyways. He also could have lost because he was running out of fuel for his war machine. If Goering (his air chief) hadn't failed in taking Britain, and the Japanese had done a little better in the Pacific, and lots of other things. Lots of things could lead to one thing, but there are factors that counter those, and so forth. It is very confusing sometimes to think of it like this. Anyways, my final thought is that Nazi Germany could have dominated the world.

Thoughts?

i'd like to add my own world power and that is the Rockefeller family and the Rothschild family. the reason for that is because if you look into those family's they started the federal reserve which controls how much money is produced in the united states every year. they also own most of the big banks in the world. they also own an started what we know as the pharmaceutical companies and the medical colleges. so in turn they are the true powers of the world not the government. if you think about it the government officials are just pawns those two families use to get there way when they want and how they want by throwing money into the politicians campaign fund. and this also includes the BUSH family who funded the nazi party during world war two i wont go into detail on how but with very little research its easy to find. so those are my thoughts about world

powers feel free to comment or ask questions about what i said i will have no problem supporting my ideas.

I am probably the worst person who could have stumbled onto THIS thread. I am so fed up with "World Powers" it's unreal. Without government, the world would be chaos with murder and drugs. With it however, we are slowly losing our constitution in America. They want our guns, our privacy, what's next? I'll tell you what is next, NWO. I don't know where all of the people on here is from, but I'm sure things are changing there also. The "World Powers" are starving the world of the only thing we had left, our dignity. You know why they do it? $MONEY$ It makes the world go round, right? EEERRRR I hate money. It is because of money that everything is the way it is. I wish things would change for the better, but Obama was talking about a different kind of change during his campaign. Good Luck out there. It gets worse.

Hilter came into power under unique circumstances. The German people were a very proud people, yet were disgraced after WWI. Their economy was actually worse than Americas in the 30's and inflation was out of control.

Hilter gave the country hope of regaining a top place in the world at that point. While the country gave Hitler more and more power, he slowly tightened his grip on it. Until a point when no one would dare question him.

Their power came from the fact that Europe was caught unprepared. Remember Germany's military was demolished according to the treaty of versailles. (More can be found here: http://www.historyonthenet.com/WW1/versailles.htm)

Hilter began remaking the military under secrecy. Most of his early conquests were caught completely unprepared. Once he captured key resources and areas it made Germany that much harder to stop.

Germany could have certainly ruled the entire world. Mistakes were made when they decided to fight Russia, instead of side with them. A two-front war is just plain cocky especially with a superpower as immense as Russia. I have read (although where escapes me) that Russia offered to side with Germany although their cost was high including pieces of already captured German territory. (Germany would have been wise to accept and then battle Russia once the world was conquered).

A second factor in their defeat was Japan's attack of Pearl Harbor. Until that point America was staying out of the war. Who knows how long America would have stayed silent without it. It could have ended up America fighting Germany and Japan on our home soil instead of the invasion of Normandy and the battle for the Pacific.

Either way I'm glad it played out as it did; life would certainty be different if the Nazi's had won WWII.

I agree with you (I have learned about most if not all of this already). On the issue of Japan and the USA, if Hitler wanted to accomplish his goal, he would have to fight them eventually. Canada and the USA signed a pact/agreement which stated that any of them would go to each others aid if one was assaulted (1940 I believe). USA was giving supplies to Canada and Britain and the Allies in general I believe, and Japan didn't attack Russia, so I think that Japan could have help Germany defeat Russia once Hitler started Operation:Barbarossa. As well, the British knew how many tanks, planes, and men he had, just not the V rockets and such (that is my understanding). Hitler did violate pretty much every single part of the Treaty of Versailles, which he vowed to "rip apart" I believe, and again, no one wanted to start another war, so no one did anything about him violating the act. It was pretty unfair of everyone to blame it on Germany though.

Before this gets just about Nazis and socialism, what do you guys think about China in the future? I'm Chinese, so this could be interesting and I'm very curious as to what you all have to say . . . ;)

Good discussions going on here.

Very interesting topic the Chinese are Prior to WWII, the Chinese were being taking over by the Imperial Japanese, the Japanese hated the Chinese for some reason it escapes me right now but still they were brutal enemies and China was getting slaughtered by the Japanese, The Chinese were put into death camp's but then after the U.S pushed back the Japanese in the pacific and they were no longer a threat, China became a Communist country in 1949 and ever sense that year China has became one of the most powerful country that this world have seen in a long time.I for for one welcome our future overload that are the Chinese.

On a separate note

What Do You think About The Mongol Empire.

I'm not going to lie, China scares me. Or it's not really China that scares me but the very real possibility of a world war with China on one side and America on the other.

For one, China owns over a trillion dollars in US debt. That's Americas third largest debt holder only behind Social Security and the Federal Reserve. If China were to sell this debt all at once it would greatly weaken the dollar and if nobody stepped up to the plate it would most likely throw us in a global recession.

Secondly, almost all cyber attacks aimed at US infrastructure and government facilities originate from China. This is a little scary. China has been consistently trying to break into our networks for years now. The Chinese government has repeatedly stated that these attacks were not authorized by the government. How many people really believe this though? I'm sure America is doing the same thing to them, we just don't hear about it.

Lastly, there are many similarities between Britain pre-WWII and present day America. Britain's military was extremely spread out pre-WWII. With Singapore and Africa among others. On top of this they effectively stopped being an industrial power and their economy moved more towards goods and services. They became a hollow shell of strength. I believe Germany realized this and it played a critical part in striking when they did.

In my opinion America is much in the same boat. Our military is extremely spread, being as we like to "police the world". At the same time our economy is practically all goods and services. We are not an industrial power anymore. Ironically it is China who makes everything for us now....

Now that's also a very good reason for there never to be a war between us; we are China's largest importer of goods.

I hope that such a thing never happens. Albert Einstein once wrote:

"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”

Yes, the United States of America are extremely active in NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization). China has lent a lot of money to America, and that is very important and will be in the future. But it is possible there will be a war between them sooner or later, not because of the imports and the money.

Before I go on, I'd like to say I've done some research and some stuff. If yo udisagree with me here, feel free to say so.

As most of you know, America has used its military superiority to, well, do things in other countries. There was Chile, 1973, where socialist President Salvador Allende ruled. I believe that when they searched Nixon's files, they found that the overthrow of Salvador was unofficially endorsed by the Nixon administration and the CIA, which had covertly worked to spread discontent and opposition against the government. Then, they put that guy Pinochet in power, who was funded/supported by the American government and Nixon. You see, Allende made Chile a democracy, which meant it would have control over its valuable copper mines. America wanted that copper (or so I'm led to believe) and sowed discontent, helped (secretly) overthrow Allende, and put Pinochet, a dictator, in place in order to gain access to those valuable copper mines.

Another example, although not of military might, was where Kennedy put his campaign planners to collaborate (secretly) with Lester Pearson so he would win over Diefenbaker in the election for Prime Minister of Canada. Kennedy wanted Diefenbaker out. Diefenbaker, and I am Canadian, I must admit he was pretty much an idiot. First, he scrapped the Avro Arrow project, which was an interceptor jet (this is during the Cold War) deeming it obsolete, and instead bought Bomarc B Missiles which were a missile defence system (from the USA). During the threat of the Soviet Union, as well as the Cuban Missile Crisis, Diefenbaker (against Kennedy's wishes) did not arm his nuclear warheads so they couldn't even defend Canada, and did not put forces on high alert. He also traded with China and Cuba. During that time, USA had a blockade around Cuba to "strangle their economy." Canada still traded with Cuba during that time, and oh god was Kennedy pissed off. Not only that, but we were selling wheat to China, which was communist, and therefore the USA didn't trade with them. Did you know that Kennedy threatened to block off Canada-China wheat exchange? That's violating international rights.

There was a film made by the National Film Board of Canada, called "in bed with an elephant." I know it sounds weird, but it perfectly describes the relationship between Canada and the USA. USA is the elephant, the huge neighbour, and Canada is the small person next to them. We have to watch your every move, because we depend on it in case you "roll over us." But you don't have to worry about Canada, because you don't rely on us as much. You guys in the 50s controlled our economy, literally. Interest rates go up there, ours go up as well.

Well, I've gotten really off topic, sorry about that.

"The Chinese government has repeatedly stated that these attacks were not authorized by the government. How many people really believe this though? I'm sure America is doing the same thing to them, we just don't hear about it."

I believe both governments are using espionage at any given time, they will obviously deny it though. Of course the government isn't going to tell you, "Oh we're spying on China and vice-versa." Some hacks (but not a significant amount) would be individuals, but most of them are probably government operators.

Well, I'm done for now. Thoughts on anything I said?
