  1. Vulture +1 or +2 lasts 35 seconds/50 seconds with the 50 teeth upgrade. A 42.6% increase. Vulture +3 or +4 lasts 45 seconds/75 seconds with the 50 teeth upgrade. A 66.7ish% increase. It definitely becomes a viable option with the teeth upgrade.
  2. Wow thanks. Some of those are ideas that I've contemplated. I've picked up several solo escapes now, but always just 1 relic. I've escaped poc with each class, team support has evolved to using boosters; you don't need them until late game when you'll finally have the skill points to build them up, then they are life-saving. I did the engineer/traps/grenade turret win. I guess the weapons specialist ability is best with primaries? It was rather negligible using pistol only. The worst of the abilities for solo/pistol. This class, just missed platinum. The others were all platinum. The medic ability is by far the best. I use Tank solo most often simply due to the 1 hit melee of scouts. Point on 'start with an extra 1000'/solo/pistol only; buy explosive ammo at start. Then, as you scavenge early (which you do since you won't need attachments), the game will give you explosive ammo pick ups for the 'specialized weapon ammo' search piles. No more random incendiary (if you're lucky), armor piercing, nor stun.

  4. Cool, thanks. I didn't realize the engineer got trap immunity. What i Assn trying to suss out is why/how i start the other classes with a flare, since i keep doing it by accident somehow. So, i play tank. Then SOMETIMES the next class that i play, after playing tank, starts with a flare. It even does it to my buddy and I; after playing tank solo, he comes by and we play split screen medics, but we start with flares (again, just sometimes). That is what I'm trying to figure out.
  5. Thanks. Also i think you get 2 for prestiging. Edit: wrong, just 1 for prestige. Local is still at the basic level. Teeth every 600, et cetera. I figured i would work in that in case xbl is down, but it was too crappy. The additional teeth really breathed life into this mode for me. I keep killing my stats: once per day i fight the tentacle in mayday, get my tooth and leave. Never look at my extinction stats, unless you consider the 4 platinum solo escapes...and i did a platinum with my 'bad at video games' friend split screen poc (2 player). The 4 solo games gave me 6,7,8,9 teeth. One more crappy (cheap) upgrade then I'm working on pistol ark attachment since i love rocking the magnum.
  6. Testing solo: 300 kills per tooth + extra. 6 teeth for a solo escape from poc with 1 relic (8 when i farmed for 2 teeth in the way).

  9. In zombies, I'm a knife addict. Around 4, open to lighthouse, grab mp5k. Fight for points. Get sickle. Fight outside lighthouse until i can buy to jugger. /going from memory, it's been a while. Oddly, i never did a high round game; i always ran out of time around 30, once going to 31 before quitting (usually running inside bottom of lighthouse with pap scavenger).
  10. Well, I picked up a solo poc platinum win. (I don't play much extinction). It was pretty much this class except that the shield is so crappy and points intensive and just not worth it solo on tank. I used team explosives, and while that seems really crappy without launchers, the couple of Semtex really helped save the drill/clear out a crowd once in a rare while; when i had nothing better to spend $ on, i threw out a couple Semtex for cheap. The main tricks: tank + 1 skill point = 1 stab scouts, others go down easier. (Tank also starts with a flare, by far the easiest solo class). 2 sentries: set about 20 feet apart, facing each other. At least one faces the hive. Guard them, they guard you. This is key. Upgrades that i recommend Tank (though i didn't have it yet). Damage upgrade 5%. Matters in solo/magnum use. Sentry armor. An absolute must in solo, good in mp. Start with a skill point. Just plain helps. Heal quicker. Negligible, but i had it on. Skill points; What i did: 1 on tank, 2 in sentry, decided to farm so dropped 2 in magnum for faster movement/longer range/9 shots. Then went back to hives, finished sentry gun, finished tank. Then some in ammo then shield. What i recommend: 1 in tank, 7 in sentry (max), then work on tank/everything else. Pistol only relic keeps away the annoying gun challenges. Works so much more efficiently (plus faster movement) than any of the automatic weapons anyway and doesn't have their greed for ammo, so ammo didn't need to be built up. Plus, since one isn't scavenging for attachments, one scavenges for money and regular ammo (and hypno knives/flares/SOFLAM). Happy gaming solo!
  11. Poc 2 platinum on my friends account. 4 player. 1 solo platinum on mine. Nightfall 2 ex-platinum escapes with 4. On my account. 5 total, 3 on my gt. Edit: it seems that i have 3 poc escapes (1 solo platinum, 2 mp gold), 3 nightfall victories (1 silver, 2 bronze [was platinum]) on my gt for 6 total. Plus at least 2 poc in my friends account.
  12. just got my first solo escape (poc). i farmed for a while at start, then said 'what the heck' and turd to get as far as I could. 1016, 2d, 1 relic (pistol only). stoked. got 8 teeth total.

  13. Okay. It appears tied to the Tank class: if i do a solo game as tank, i get a flare. Then, switching to ss medics, we both start with a flare. But if i do solo medic/engineer/weapons specialist, i get no flare. This is odd since tank is the most viable class solo already. I'm guessing it is there for the mp extinction, where tank pretty much sucks. So if anyone knows about this better than I, please point it out. Still sussing this out... It may only work split screen... New hypothesis: take tank class, go to custom game, have ss friend join (clone of your class), then switch to another class. This pretty much mirrors what we did originally when it happened. Do other classes start with any bonus items? I didn't see any in my experiments. I'm a very curious person. If any of this is too cheaty for this site, feel free to delete this thread and let me know. I won't be offended/don't mean to offend anyone.
  14. I assume this is a glitch, but I'm asking here if anyone knows why things work the way they do, in case I'm just being spastastic... Solo extinction, start with a flare. Play split screen, both start with flare. Next game, my ss buddy starts with a flare, i don't. Today, solo game, no flare. Why the discrepancies? What dictates flare or no flare? My hypothesis: solo you start with a flare, first mp (custom in this case) game glitches (due to last game being solo) and gives a flare when it should not. Next game, he still had a flare because he didn't use his during that first mp game. Since i used mine, now it won't give me one because I'm not supposed to get one in mp extinction. Then, the opposite of the first glitch; I don't get a flare solo because my last game was mp. Now, next solo game should give me a flare and then the next mp ss game should also start with a flare. Is my hypothesis correct? Or can someone point out the real reason that i must be missing. If i am correct, one should be able to glitch any mp game into starting you with a flare. There I go, encouraging cheating again. Disgusting... (typo repair and replacement)

  16. Effective contraceptive patch glitch. So, i always shoot all of the extinction eggs in maps (usually in solo safeguard, because that counts and it's the easiest way to get them without much effort). I hadn't played Exodus yet. But every time that i was playing safeguard, i could shoot the egg sacks and it would say 'bonus xp and patch awarded (or similar)' but the patch was not unlocked. This happened 5-10 times in the past week while playing with randoms on safeguard (presumably works solo too). Now, note that since my character was max level (all of mine are/10th p), it says 'bonus xp awarded, which means zero xp awarded actually. But if your current soldier isn't maxed out, it would say '2000xp awarded' instead. Note that i only ever played awakening solo on casual once. Never an mp game. Then, yesterday either during a solo Exodus attempt, or maybe a custom game split screen game, i got the 10k xp for extinction from doing the circles challenge. Today when i looked the patch is finally actually unlocked. So, not being entirely sure of the parameters of this glitch, i theorize that one could not play Exodus, and just keep shooting the eggs during Safeguard (and plausibly mp games) to keep getting a 2000xp boost like some kind of dirty cheater. But you didn't hear it from me. Edit: map clarity; Poc: beat with 4. Nightfall: beat with 4. Mayday: only played solo/ss custom. Awakening: only played solo/casual. Exodus: solo/ss custom So apparently not every game needs to be played online with others since i certainly never played Awakening with anyone. Edit 2: you can only shoot them once per game for the bonus. But, if it does work solo, one could go to safeguard, play now (so it's just you, solo), shoot the sac for xp, leave, repeat ad infinitum...
  17. Yes, i am. Maybe this coming weekend or something, I'm kind of tied up a lot this week, but I've been hoping to grab some of you for a game. I just bought the medic upgrade (only one so far) if you need a medic. I've crawled mostly through 3rd prestige. Also: skill point, sentry armor, damage boost, faster heal, better ammos.   19. I usually play solo, so lone wolf. But if i play with others (even randoms), you would definitely want me on your team. I share, i communicate, i usually know the best spots/ways in the game. I'm one Hell of a team player. Whether i do the best or the worst, i play for the team (unless cod mp, those 'teammates' are actually just enemies that i can't kill). I want everyone to have a good time. That won't happen sitting on your ass, bleeding out. Been steadily playing with randoms on Safeguard (gave up on randoms during waw/der reise): i get a guy up 10 times in one game, next game, he runs right past me with no enemies around and let's me bleed out. I'm almost always host, so: pull ethernet cable at that point. I'm really good at maps, so i usually get the sentries/vultures, so if people start crate-stealing or other unsporting behavior, i gather the best loot on loot rounds, then leave. Like Stop said; I'll pick up my buddy, knowing full well that he will just go down again, but it buys him more time for me to gain control and get him up again. Now if i could just get him to understand/do that for me...
  20. Honestly, from someone not playing it very much, i would like to say that there are plenty of standalone games out there that aren't this in-depth or interesting. I will definitely get into this mode more. I guess it's time to teach my split screen buddy this game and hit up some (chokes back bile)...randoms.
  21. Playing Safeguard with randoms: I have wild widow and m27. I run up to a support drop crate (reflex), double tap it into stalker. We just got Team Restock, so i decide that i don't need ammo, so i may as well take the Stalker perk. I take it and it gives me an ak12. Sigh. I didn't want my wild widow anyway....

    Safeguard Game Mode

    Some minor changes that i noticed after not playing for a while (since they tried desperately to kill this mode off with terrible changes): Usually I'm not having an issue with sentry gun/vulture anymore. There is usually 3 crates between the 2 of them each loot round, though i had a loot round yesterday solo that had no sentries nor vultures, which was odd. Vultures last much longer now. Instead of lasting 3/4 of a round approximately, you get 1.5 rounds, 2 on smaller maps. USR will now headshot kill in one shot. It had always taken 2 headshots before, so it is slightly less crappy if you have no other choices. The start pistol is still better than it, but in some situations I have used it for a round or two. As mentioned in one of the last posts; holding a sentry from inventory will pause the timer on the challenge-awarded minigun so you can use it longer. You must do this before the explosive ammo icon begins to flash or it won't work. (I'm still figuring out details, forgive if i get something wrong). (edit: doesn't work by holding an ied out, my mistake). As previously stated, be careful at the start of a new challenge round; if your teammates quickly earn the new challenge it will take your minigun away, which seems like a fair, balanced risk. So the mode has improved slightly in the right direction. Ghost squad seems to care less than ever about reviving you and with the huge increase in enemy damage, he really could use a tweek in our favor. Maybe; 1. Make him take a little less damage. 2. Be more efficient at reviving. 3. Make him stay 'guard dog' close as he runs too far off (plus he needs a little speed boost so he stays with you). 4. Grant us one each 20 rounds again. Happy gaming all. P.S. Get in a lobby of Showtime Safeguard, it's a pisser. Edit: almost forgot; for whatever reason, they decided to bring back spawn killing in the July patch. Well, it affects this game as well. 1. Stand in a corner of the map with 20 feet open behind you and you may suddenly have 3 shotgunners appear behind you, shooting you in the back. 2. Call in a trinity missile while by yourself, a crowd will load next to you and kill you. I still can't grasp why they ruined the spawns since the spawns were the best in any cod since waw. (disclaimer: when the game launched, the spawn killing was as bad as mw3 or bo2. Then they were fixed beautifully for about 6 months. Then, in July, they made them almost as terrible as they were at launch; but a little more intermittent/clumped. You may suddenly get spawned killed 5 times in a row or even load right next to enemies that have just loaded. So stupidly done...and for no reason; i don't remember anyone complaining about not getting spawn killed for those 6 months that it was working well). Sigh.
  23. I tried to write this out in a nonconfrontational way, but failed, so I went with blunt: Treyarc sucks. They make poorly programmed, glitchy, c- games. They have proven themselves as being bad at balance, their glitches are innumerous, their fixes cause more harm than good often, then the new issues don't get addressed. Bo1 is arguably the worst cod to date. Both bo1 and bo2, the campaign was so functionally bad (gameplay-wise) as to be embarrassing and unplayable. I'm fairly sure that if it wasn't for zombies, they would gave been kicked from the cod franchise after the disaster of bo1. So, whether they go with new or continue the laughably pathetic zombie storyline, it will be chock full of fail with typed with fail sauce. I'm not trolling, they deserve their reputation as a joke game designer. Hate me if you want, but outside this forum, they get no love. I wish crackheadvision would give the zombies to someone who could make it well because i love the mode a much as i despise Trollarch Hate me if you want, it's just what I see/hear regarding Trollatch from the gaming community as a whole. /end blunt. (Don't be mad, I have refrained from bashing them for quite some time). As long as we accept mediocre garbage, guess what we will get?

      That being said; i landed in a random lobby with 2 other 40-something old folk like me (and one mute), best randoms ever; we stayed together, shared packages, and won with ease.

      All other random safeguard players: 1. Your ghosts squad can revive you if you call him in when needed.

      2. Don't call him in at the start of the game, he will be dead by the time that you need him.

  25. My big issue with extinction is that it really is a 4 player game and; Randoms are Hellspawn. Friends had ghosts on 360, some moved to One. Then others did, some bought ghosts again, some didn't. I play lone-wolf style mp, so i like the mp, but i wouldn't commit to extinction with randoms/no mics. Communication is fairly required (though i know some if you will play with randoms, i just can't stomach them for that long. I'm surprised that I've played with randoms on Safeguard). Speaking of Safeguard; try, even with randoms, playing it in Showtime. Crazy. The E-mode is okay. The hit detection in this game (all modes, online and off, is intermittent...oh God, the kniving is so feces). I still need to beat the last 3 e-maps. I wish this game was fun solo.
